Re: Gp has referred me to breast c clinic and im scared!

Here's hoping indeed for good news ! However, you know what, even if its 'bad news', the medical team will deal with it. The three of us CC people replying on this thread, all had breast cancer a few years ago. Smiley Very Happy (not smiley happy because we did, but smiley happy because quick effective treatments were given to us) You are doing exactly the right thing in reporting breast changes as soon as you are aware of them and this gives the best possible outcome for any treatment plan. Many here have had symptoms like you, some have had benign reasons for it, and some have had bc. Its really difficult looking at 'symptoms' as to be honest even up to the point of biopsy the expert surgeons can't be sure what they are dealing with. Its going to be a tough wait for the clinic appointment, stay strong and hang here where we will try and help. I do hope, as most do, you find out this is a benign reason for the change, do let us know how you are getting on. x

Re: Gp has referred me to breast c clinic and im scared!

Hi happyland,
Although it is sooo difficult, try not to let this anxiety take over, the reality is, for the vast majority of women in your position, bc is the least likely reason for your symptoms.
Good on your husband for telling you to get it checked out & your GP has done exactly what should happen in this situation. Also, please bear in mind that it is the breast clinic not a breast cancer clinic. They are the specialists & they are there for all breast conditions.
There’s nothing you can do now, so try & put ot out of your mind, carry on as normal, keep busy & keep away from google, as it will only fuel your anxiety for no good reason.
Chances are, all’s well, it usually is.

Re: Gp has referred me to breast c clinic and im scared!

Hello and welcome to the forum, although not somewhere you would really want to be.

Until you have had your appointment at the breast clinic, as much as your lovely doctor has referred you to check this out, they are the ones who are the experts.  Hopefully with her making a referral you should be seen within 14 days from the breast clinic receiving the referral.

You may well have a mammogram and an ultrasound at the appointment, it is possible that they might want to take biospies as if they are not sure then this is the best way for them to know what, if anything, is going on.  IF they do biopsies then it will probably take a couple of weeks for the results to come back.  If it is a cyst they will probably drain it on the day.  Basically what I am trying to say is there are a lot of benign breast conditions it can be and does not necessarily mean that it is breast cancer.

Please try as much as possible to not overthink things and certainly we recommend on here that you do not google generally as it will only scare the living daylights out of you as there is a lot of out of date misinformation out there.

Sending you hugs

Gp has referred me to breast c clinic and im scared!

I'm 29. Had a small lump in my right breast for about a month, didn't think much of it just assumed it would go. This last week I've noticed my breast is now larger and doesn't fit in my bra, the lump is still there, like a hard pea size lump and there is thickness to this breast apposed to the other which is squishy. Anyway, showed hubby last night and he couldn't believe how much bigger the boob was and told him about the lump he made me phone the gp this morning and she had a really good feel around ect. She said the right is very different to the left, there is definitely a lump and it's definitely larger and there is alot of thickness to the breast, she's referring me to the breast cancer clinic and I should be seen around Christmas but she hopes my appointment will be just after. She then went on saying she will be there and support me ect. And that they are a lovely team.

Now I know this dr well as she sees me often and my children ect. I've never seen her so serious and concerned. My mind is going over time. Clearly I'm not going to be non the wiser for a while but looking for support, others stories, what will happen at the clinic ect or if any one has had symptoms similar to me??
Thanks xx
