Re: Worried!

Hello I am also worried for years I had milky discharge from both of my nipples and the mammograms I had doc said they were normal. Today I went to see my OBGYN and she checked both of my breasts they were very sore discolored and nipples are inverted. I am scared, because both of my parents died from lung cancer and my moms parents too. Im thinking the docs that did my mammo were wrong and Im worried that it might be cancer.

Re: Worried!

Hi Diamond,

Just wanted to ditto everything Jaybro said her post.

Try not to panic, I know that sounds hard, and do go to the doctor asap and get referred to the breast clinic for a proper check. You need to get clarity to gain peace of mind, or if you are in that small percentage of referrals where something is found, get it treated. Outlook/prognosis is generally very good, even better when found early.

Re: Worried!

Hi Diamond

The thought of you lying in bed crying leads me to writing a reply even though I’ve never experienced those symptoms. To have similar tumours in each breast would be unusual. Would it help to know that most lumps in breasts are harmless? No, I thought not but do bear it in mind. There are so many of us here who understand exactly what fear you’re going through and really feel sad for you and hope for a good outcome.

Make sure you request an emergency appointment and, if your GP reassures you, maybe book an appointment to be shown how to navigate your breasts during self examination so you’re not taken by surprise again. And stop looking up stuff online. Google is evil when it comes to our peace of mind and actual understanding. Did you know the recovery rate for early-detected breast cancer is well over 90%? If something were wrong, you would still have a future with your family. Remember, good news isn’t ‘good news’ for the media. Imagine: a hundred women go for tests because they have symptoms. One is diagnosed with breast cancer; the rest go home happy. Guess which one we hear about.

Hopefully you’re asleep now, not insomniac like me right now but you may see this tomorrow. Otherwise, try to rest and remember most breast problems are not cancer and cancer’s not a death sentence usually x

Worried!

Hi everyone.

A few days before my period I decided to do a check on my breasts, I normally do it in the middle of my cycle but had forgotten. I couldn't find any lumps doing the regular check however, when I sort of pinch the skin I found a few in each breast. They're almost a bit like a worm type shape, a bit rubbery/firm and do sort of move when I feel them. The other thing was that when I checked my nipples some discharge came out of them - both. It comes from multiple places/ducts on both nipples. I got some white tissue and blot it on it and it almost looks like a lime green and sometimes a dark green colour. It isn't thick but isn't watery either and is sticky in consistency. I've been feeling all around my breasts and was checking my armpits for swollen lymph nodes and haven't found any however I've been that worried I've been poking and prodding them and actually made both armpits sore. Stupid I know!

I'm sending my other half down to the doctors tomorrow to put an appointment on for me as I'm working and wont get a chance to phone them myself. I'm terrified, I'm 28 and have an 8 year old son. The thought of anything being wrong and leaving him is breaking my heart and I've been laying in bed crying most of the night.

Very long winded I'm sorry but has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms at all? Thank you in advance.
