The Cancer Survivor's Companion book

Hello,

Has anyone read this book? “The Cancer Survivor’s Companion: Practical ways to cope with your feelings after cancer” by Frances Goodhart and Lucy Atkins.

I have bought it for my mum in the hope that she will read it and get something from it, whether it reassurance, self help, etc. She is in remission but since has been very down and keeps mentioning that she sometimes sits and thinks about all she’s been through (chemo, radiation, mastectomy). Before cancer she was a very sociable lady, busy (with work and family) and a care free, happy person. But she has had to give up work and now sits at home reading most days. No other hobbies and very little in the way of socialising as before.

Does anybody recommend this book as a self help read? Would it help my mum with tips on mental health, etc?

Or perhaps you’ve a book to recommend?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Jen , I’ve not heard of this book hopefully others will comment . it’s often quite hard to move on once treatment finishes and the fear of cancer returning is a hard thing to put in a box . Breast Cancer now has moving forward after treatment courses on line and in person and if your Mum would consider this it may help her talking to others at a similar stage ?
