Hi ladies x
I had had been on once or twice it was nice to see everyone going on in their different directions trying to get back to a new life as we know it x
i had tried to just carry on back to work, recon, ended up with full hysterectomy (I struggled with tamoxifen).
i went on holidays with the girls, and again with the family, almost divorced but got back on track with that, think we had to hit bottom before we could get back up, and just turned 39 😃
unfortunately for me I'm sat here having just had my first round of docetaxcel well I'm on day 7, I just had FEC last time so this aching business is new to me any tips ladies?
in true style though I have just bought a new caravan, lol seems to be a tradition of sorts !
Hi Kirstie! How lovely to hear from you😊, hope things are going well for you . I have finished herceptin and am feeling relatively well-although still remain very anxious😬.
Rosie, i nearly made my booking with the saver rate and then a little voice reasoned i should pay more with booking.com in case of changes😏, thank goodness i did! I also use booking.com quite a lot too!
very busy working day today, so better get on with it!
Hi ladies, remember me, just thought I'd pop in and see how you are all doing x
where is is everyone at now with treatment and moving on ?
Rosie, i used to get awful nerve pain coming from my hip all the way down my leg on right hand side, this seemed to be worse pre menopause and now is less frequent, i know the chemo can make existing nerve problems worse though. Could it be related to the letrozole ? Maybe worth talking to oncologist and trying another type maybe, its very frustrating for you though.
yes the shortbread was one of the nicest i have ever eaten!😋.
i have just booked the Holiday Inn at Gloucester for myself and OH on saturday 23rd july, this is the date we are meeting up isnt it?!! I seem to have had a blank brain after booking🙀
Rosie, i just watched the You Tube clip, how tiny the puppies were, incredibly cute too🐶😊. We had a lovely walk, its a bright sunny day, but bitterly cold wind, enjoyed a large latte and a caramel pecan shortbread in the cafe, in the field next to the cafe were 2 llamas, they came galloping over to us and made funny little squeaking noises , the dogs didnt know what to think of them and looked very bemused.
Yes it's still there may 13th 2010. Our dog is one of the white ones with white under her chin. Her brother is the tricolour one, that the lady is trying to feed!
Hope you and the dogs enjoyed the walk Lovewine and enjoyed the cake and latte!🍰🍰☕️☕️
We are taking our dog round the peninsular this afternoon and meeting up with her brother who she hasn't seen for 2 years. Since my illness and the ever risk of poison and snakes in the summer we have avoided the peninsular. She was fostered in a home in Limassol with her brother for the first 2 months of their lives. There was another girl died despite being fostered by a good home. The other boy survived and I believe is still in Cyprus. They will be 6 in May! They were found at 10 days old in a sack! There is a you tube video that was made of them I think it's under puppies in sack in Peyia. Will check.
Good morning All, Rosie , what a disappointment when a meal out isnt that great, always feel rather cheated😠. Good luck with all the repairs today!
we are going to have a walk , there is a fairly sedate walk, a mile across fields until we reach a very nice coffee /gift shop for a cake and latte, then a mile back again!! It will just be enough for poorly dog .
have a good sunday whatever your plans everyone!
Good morning ladies!
We went for a meal last night to the nearest restaurant to us which is a modern sports bar. The food is not consistent and last nights was not good it was tasteless. I had beef stroganoff which is usually a good bet, I kept adding salt and pepper but it didn't seem to make much difference!😕 We don't go there very often. They had some live music so that helped! Also we have a 10% discount card.
Not much planned for today, DH is making a few repairs to plaster that has blown off inside the house downstairs. While we are away in March in the UK we are getting a painter to come in and freshen it up. Hasn't been repainted since we had it in 2009! We are just going to keep it white it's easier to touch up! The fireplace wall is a different colour. DH is going to change the tiles in the kitchen before the painter comes! We also need to replace the drawers as they have swollen and the edges look a mess!🙀
Have a restful Sunday all!
Hello Ladies,
I am colouring my hair this morning while typing.
I went to the London aquarium with my nephew YD and grandson last weekend for a meal and a wander around Borough Market at London bridge it was really good to see my nephew, he is the one who is now living in Bristol, I was exhaustedby the end of the day but it was nice. ED also joined us for the meal but left us all to the other events.
I am not sure if I will be doing much this weekend I managed to get all the laundry done yesterday so I may just chill today ED will be in touch a little later no doubt to see if I will have GS.
Its looking a little overcast here at the moment, have a good weekend ladies x
Morning all, well managed the hoovering without any problems so I might do another room today. I have been thinking of going to Pilates this weekend but I don't think I am quite ready so have decided to wait another week. I'm back to work on Monday and that will be enough to cope with I think!
joan, we usually boil the chicken bones for 2-3 hours on a low heat.
Lovewine your new comb sounds amazing, not surprised the cat resists it though! I hope you have a peaceful time today.
rosie I had forgotten about your swimming incident, yes definitely not a good experience!
today I am driving to the gym to see the beautician and have my legs waxed, then no work today as it is Friday so a relaxing afternoon I think.
Good morning ladies, i had a much better sleep last night and the coughing was minimal and the sore throat seems to have gone😊, in the end i had 2 paracetamol and a large glass of whiskey last night and it seems to be effective and also very nice😜!
i have one delivery to make and then a trip to the pet store!
Rosie, i highly recommend the comb, best i have ever used, could not believe how much hair came out. 🙀🙀 had a quick go on the grumpy cat and same for her, stopped after 5 minutes as i feared for my safety!🐯🦁🐈!
i will send you the link!
Have a good friday everyone, Wildpurl, dont overdo it with the hoovering!
Joan, hope you have trouble free GD duties!
Good morning ladies!
Wildpurl you are a walking miracle! When I tried swimming 6 weeks after implants the left one came through the skin!🙀I guess this was the side that had been radiated and the skin was damaged! The surgeons last words to me well at least it has held together!🙀
Anyway do take it easy a step at a time it is so,easy to overdo it.
Very good use of a chicken!🐔
Lovewine does the pet hair tool have a name so I can source one!
I don't think the cat will like it!🙀
Hope the throat is better!
Joan I am glad your residential went well it will have done you good to have a rest!😊
DH wasn't too pathetic following first part of crown treatment. We are lucky and have a very good dentist he is South African and very popular with ex pats. Like I said before I wish he had been my surgeon!
I am in school most of the morning today so will come back tired! I was dozing off at 9pm last night DH was asleep for 2 hours then he woke up to work!😡
Have a good Friday ladies!
Evening ladies. This is just a quickie to say hello. Just got back from my course and quite exhausted. So I'm not going to attempt to tell you about it other than to say there was lots of useful information and it was a lovely group of people. I did feel a bit of an odd one out since everyone else there was either still in treatment (or the partner of one) or very recently finished, but I wasn't made to feel like that. Three people also had multiple primary cancers or secondaries which made me feel very humble and incredibly lucky.
Wildpurl, good things are going so well. I'm amazed you're driving so early. Like your chicken soup recipe. How long do you boil the carcass for. When I have tried this the stock never seems to have enough flavour so I finish up adding commercial stock. I suppose I would still get the goodness from the carcass though.
Lovewine, hope you manage to stave off your second stage infection. Like Rosie I have used echinacea which seems to help. My husband swears by gargling with TCP! Your rug sounds lovely.
Rosie, good that there is positive news about the boy in the coma. Hope you haven't had to provide too much TLC for your OH after his dental treatment.
Right, husband is preparing supper after which I plan to spend the evening watching mindless television in the hope of having enough energy for the grandchildren tomorrow.
Hello ladies, Wildpurl, i think my OH makes a similar soup too from carcass chicken bones , i will have to get him to make some at the weekend. I am glad you are happy with your shape, it makes all the difference to our well being.
Rosie, i am thrilled with my new " dog rake brush"!! 🐶😊, i have amused myself for a good chunk of the afternoon and now have so much hair i could knit a jumper 😏, its very effective as it removes the undercoat and leaves top layer, dogs coat lovely and shiny, not brave enough yet to use on the cat, i need OH to hold her whilst i use the brush🙀🐈. How easily pleased i am these days!!
Joan, i do hope you found your course very helpful.
Cassie, hope all is well with you and your family.
Yes I was driving the car this morning for the first time and all went well. You are right, Rosie, we have had very different experiences with this surgery. I do hope your surgeon will do something which will make you more comfortable as well as looking more how you would like. I am so much happier with my new shape, the left side in particular looks normal now and she has given me a slight increase in size which takes me closer to my original shape pre-surgery.
I went to a talk at work last year on boosting your immune system, which was really interesting. One recommendation made was chicken soup, made with stock from boiled chicken bones. Apparently this is very rich in nutrients which boost good bacteria in the gut and cause t-cells (I think ) to multiply. The good cells anyway.
we quite often have this in winter, OH joints a chicken and we put the carcass plus any bones removed into a big pan with water, bay leaf and juniper. I think you can add vegetables too. Later we add noodles and cooked chicken off the bones, and sweet corn, to the stock and it makes a lovely warming soup. Yummy with freshly baked rolls.
Wildpurl it's good to,hear you are doing so well! Are you actually driving the car!🙀
I am still wearing a crop top in bed as I am far too uncomfortable! We are both ends of the scale for this op Wildpurl! Hoovering do be careful! 🙀
Lovewine let me know if the tool for dog hair works! I do hope your sore throat will pass and not develop. Echinacea drops was something that I used in the UK. At the first sign of a sore throat I started on it and I could get rid of most of them before they developed into a full blown cold!! You
can get them from any chemist.
DH gone to the dentist he has to have a crown done! I will have to get ready with the sympathy! I can remember having 2 done after the birth of YS- the dentist was very good and did it while I was still entitled to free dental care! I remember coming home and having to carry on with my day fetching children from school. I didn't drive then so had to walk everywhere! I think my came over and took me in his car whist DH was at work!
Morning all,
frosty here this morning, I have been working from home in the mornings this week to get a few things done and today I have got up at the normal work time as I am taking OH to meet his car pool and will collect him this evening and we will go to the supermarket together.
Rosie, good news about the lad in the coma.
your rug sounds lovely Lovewine. I think you could do with a nice weekend cottage break, I hope you decide to book something.
I'm doing fine, everything is gradually healing and I can do most things now. Yesterday I started sowing my seeds for the greenhouse plants this season. Going to try some hoovering this afternoon!
My stitches are dissolvable so I don't have to have them out. I took the dressings off yesterday and still have steri strips which I will leave to come away naturally. It's more comfortable without dressings and I have to wear a supportive bra 24/7 for another week. It's not really been too bad.
Good morning a quiet week on here hope everyone is ok!
Lovewine your rug sounds ideal we have a brown black and white striped one that hides the dog hairs well! It only covers a small area of the downstairs though which is fine in the hot weather but we could do with more coverage when the tiles are cold!😱
Not much happening here today! A visit to school to Year 3 today and a final log delivery this afternoon! We still need the log burner at night! It's usually about mid March we stop using it.
Hope you all have a good day!
Wildpurl when do you get your stitches taken out? Hope you are feeling more comfortable each day.
Thats really positive news Rosie, how relieved his family must be! Hope you have had an enjoyable day, i had a new rug for my living room delivered- very happy with it, its a lovely warm red pattern, ideal for hiding dog hairs!🐶😬, because i have wooden floors it can look very bland, so now its bright and cheerful!
Rosie, you have me thinking now about a little cottage mini break! Maybe The Peak District or The Cotswolds, either are only about an hours drive away! I think both of us could do with a change of scene.😏.
Good you had no problems on the trip to hairdressers! And good luck with tomorrow's clear out!
Hello ladies, Rosie, i hope you made it to the hairdressers and didnt end up in the wrong place following diversion🙀- reminds me of when YS was at uni in Reading and i went to collect him for the first time, there was a large diversion on the A40 near Oxford bypass, i ended up sitting in a very large traffic jam outside the Ashmolean Museum🙄😬 in the centre of Oxford hopelessly lost! Did you have a colour as well as a trim?
Yes i am very envious of ES and DILs trip, as i do really enjoy our cottage breaks! Think we will have to book one soon, its very difficult to make plans with my dog being the way he is at the moment😢.
Its been a glorious day, cold but sunny😊.
Good evening everyone, Hope everyone has had a good start to the week, Wildpurl, hope you are continuing to get stronger as the days go by.
Rosie, hope your day has gone well!
Joan, not sure if you are already on your course? If so hope you are finding it helpful,
Cassie, hope you had a good weekend and GD is doing ok.
not too busy today, but very hectic tomorrow, ES and DIL are off up to Whitby for a week this Saturday, they are staying in a lovely cottage we stayed in twice before, the first time being just after my lymph node surgery and a few days before my chemo began😬
Good morning ladies!
YS skyping tonight as they had been away to the Harry Potter studios for DIL birthday treat!
ES skyped but he was in a stress about unpaid bills- they have had bill equating to €2000 for gas/ electric over the year!🙀🙀🙀 apparently this is the norm his fiancées parents also pay this amount! Also and what concerned me the most was his computer was playing up and he needs it for work today! He has already prepared work for the students on it for today!!!😁 He doesn't have a large memory drive to transfer all his files to!
DH was trying to talk him through some options and I have to say he was reasonably calm they usually both get heated!😡😡
We are holding an assembly today for the secondary students at 8.30am re the accident! The one lad remains critical but stable, they are performing a tracheotomy today!🙀 The other is an emotional wreck and remorseful! His mate landed up lying across him and he keeps remembering the blood and his face! Fortunately he had his phone and could call for help. They were in an area were not many people would venture out of season and it was 6.00pm so it would have been quite dark!
Then I am going to Kindergarten to help the little German girl!
Maybe some more trimming down of the filing cabinet later!
Hope the week starts well for you all!
A successful shopping trip Lovewine!😉
Still waiting for the boys to Skype they usually both try at the same time in the evening!😁 DD always skypes in the morning!
Good afternoon ladies, Wildpurl, your trip out yesterday probarly did you a lot of good- change of scene and seeing people, hope you enjoyed your shower!
Joan, I certainly dont think you will feel out of place at all, hope the course is beneficial to you, i would like to do something like that but sadly we dont have any organizations like Penny Brohn centre, which i remember you visiting during chemo and treatment, thankyou for your good wishes on the community champion!
Rosie, have you caught up with your family? I totally agree about being lonely, i wouldnt have coped well at all without the forum, i dont think the anxiety ever goes away, it doesnt for me anyway😟.
my dog still hopefully not affected by the chemo leak, it just illustrates how strong these drugs are- hes on Epirubicin which is the E part of FEC a lot of us had!
I didnt stay long in the city, did buy a nice pink jumper from marks and spencer and some perfume from the Body Shop at 40% off!!
Congratulations Lovewine and Rosie on being community champions. Did the symbol just appear or were you told about it first?
lovewine, I hope you dog continues to show no adverse effects from the chemo mishap. The vets anxieties really bring it home how powerful and toxic these drugs are. It's very sad that the insurance won't cover any more treatment but you have done your best for your dog and given him a good few extra months. I hope your retail therapy was successful. I had a similar experience with a ready made curry paste a little while ago. Adding lemon juice seems to reduce the heat a bit.
Wildpurl, your hair looks amazing and you are clearly making a very good recovery. Lovely to be able to get out and do things/mert people.
Rosie, are the latest blood tests just duplicating the ones the surgeon arranged for you, which I think you said you eventually heard were fine? Good that your MIL came out of hospital so quickly. Being able to sit outside to eat is a distant dream here, I'm sitting in front of the fire.
having an at home day today after a busy few days. Reorganised my larder this morning - and resolved to do less stocking up in future. Trip to cardiff with GD on Thursday went very well although when she said she was bored within 10 minutes of getting on the train I thought it might not. She did quite a bit of rushing from one thing to another but also spent a good time looking at others. There was also a very good family art workshop where the children were taken through an exhibition of modern paintings which used lots of different textures and colours then spent an hour creating their own pictures in the studio. GD is very keen on painting and drawing so that went well. OH and I were also encouraged to create but I don't think the teacher was terribly impressed with our efforts. It was never my strong point at school. This next week is busy in a different way- I'm on a 2 day residential course at the Penny Brohn centre called Living Well with the impact of Cancer. It's a course I would have liked to do earlier But didn't feel able to. Most of the people there will probably hVe more recent experience of going through treatment or still be going through it so I'm a bit worried I might feel out of place but having learned bits and pieces about the approach I thought it was time to put it all together.
Hope you all have good weeks.
Morning all, I'm glad your dog seems OK Lovewine. A barbecue is like a distant dream for us Rosie, I'm glad you enjoyed yours. We had fish pie!
yesterday I decided to go to a yarn and fibre show which is on near me every February, called Unravel. I had thought I would not be well enough but I decided I would be OK and so OH dropped me off there and I got the train home, as I'm not driving yet. I really enjoyed it and was able to meet up with some knitting friends. I was tired afterwards but no ill effects.
First full shower today Rosie!!!!
Have a peaceful Sunday everyone
