Rosie, what amazing news about your pupil, his parents must be overjoyed. Sorry you are suffering with aches and pains, it does sound as if it's the medication. Hope you can get it changed when you see the oncologist. Re the kindle, I move the books I have read into the cloud. That way I only have a few books on the device so it's hard to miss the new ones. I do sometimes try to buy a book I have already got. Fortunately kindle tells me that very politely.
Sister in in law staying at the moment so not much time to post.
Rosie, it does seem to be connected to your medication😏, i hope you can maybe change brands after seeing the oncologist tomorrow, hope it goes ok for you😬.💐
Good morning, Rosie, good you are feeling a little better today- i hope it continues 😏, what a relief the injured pupils are recovering so well, you are so right in what you say- life can change in an instant.
i have a very busy day working today, its bitterly cold and trying to snow too😬.
have a good day everyone.
Goodmorning!
Feel a bit better this morning it will be interesting to see if the symptoms get stronger after I have taken this mornings medication!🤔
Is anyone like me and forget which books they have loaded onto their Kindle? I downloaded one for Christmas called Christmas in Manhatten- only just come across it!😏
Good news about our pupil that was in the coma- looks like he is going to make a full recovery- what a miracle!😇 His mother was convinced that he wouldn't pull through and then there was the worry of brain damage. The other one is out of hospital but still in a lot of pain.
Life is very precious we must make the best of it!
Good Evening Rosie, sorry you have not felt very good today- I sympathise with the headache, i have had to take a pill nearly every day since friday😧, i have read of other ladies taking letrozole having similar problems with certain brands, hopefully the oncologist can answer the question.
i had my slow cooker chugging away all day, the beef was very tender, i find it much easier to cook things early morning and reheat, rather than prepare and cook in the evening.
Joan, i just read your post as i was about to finish mine, it certainly does make us realise how fragile life is, i felt the same last week when the lady from our village passed away from secondary breast cancer who was the same age as me. It will certainly be a difficult day on wednesday for you and your colleagues. What a shock for her family and friends too.
Not a good start to the week, heard early this morning that someone I have known professionally for many years, and who was very supportive when I was going through treatment, has died suddenly. She had Breast cancer 7 years ago but, although I wasn't aware of this, she had developed secondary Cancer. However she had started treatment and her death was completely unexpected, even to those who knew of her condition. A shattering blow for everyone who knew her. And, of course, makes me all too aware of our vulnerability. I'm due to go to a meeting in London on Wednesday where she would have played a leading role. It's going to be very poignant.
Good evening hope, you have all had a good day.
I haven't felt too well today. Woke up with a headache and had it all day! Also flu like pains in my legs! I am wondering if it is a side effects form the Letrozole!🙀 The brand has been changed three times and I have just finished half a packet of the third type! Fortunately I am seeing the oncologist on Wednesday.
Did you leave your slow cooker on Lovewine?
Wildpurl, i bought my neice the Deliciously Ella book for her birthday and she loved it, many great recipes, i have just found a very good recipe of hers for honey flapjacks! Enjoy your restful day!
Good morning all,
rosie my Mum died around the same time as yours I think. I must admit I don't bother too much with Mother's Day, my two may remember to text me but we don't do gifts. I do sometimes think that all the advertising of gifts and treats is rather insensitive to those whose mothers have passed away. I hope your day goes well and you are able to Skype with your children and grandchildren.
Lovewine, I'm glad your Mum liked her gift, I think it was a lovely idea.
your healthy eating course sounds excellent, Joan, have you come across the Deliciously Ella book? I have some free recipes from it and have tried one which was very tasty and am tempted to get the whole book. Apparently she overcame health problems by changing her diet. Another great source of healthy recipes is the blog A Girl Called Jack.
My first week back at work was demanding to say the least but fortunately I can recover over the three day weekend. I was very tired to start with and had a few early nights. On Friday I walked to RHS Wisley to meet a friend and then home again, about a 5 mile round trip. Tired again but pleased I'd made it! Yesterday I went back to Pilates which went well and I feel better for it. Today maybe a bit of gardening, otherwise resting and knitting I think. I'm on the sleeves of a sweater now but it is a lighter weight more suitable for Spring so not necessarily going to be used right away!
enjoy your Sundays everyone
Good morning ladies!
I always find Mothers Day difficult here as my children are 2000 miles away and my mother died 29 years ago! It takes me back to the month after my mother died, Mothering Sunday and we were having our youngest christened. As part of the service bunches of daffodils were made available for children to give to their mums and I felt very raw because I didn't have a mum to give them to!😢 Whatever you are doing I hope you have an enjoyable day!
We are meeting our friends the other side of Polis for lunch today as her daughter lives in Ireland!
The show last night was a bit slow moving and DH and I struggled in the second half to keep awake! It seemed to take for ever for them all to pop off!
DH had spent the afternoon trimming the fruit trees at the back and I had done the shopping and about 1. 5 hours of my French course!
We spent yesterday morning putting together an email for the insurance company. DH will go to see them on Wednesday when I am waiting for my X-ray and ultra sound!
Lovewine hope you get to meet Buddy soon, I bet he is cute! We used to have a Jack Russell some of them can be snappy but Monty was as daft as a brush!
Joan yes indeed it was predictive text that I don't always notice! Should have said peeping!😄 Do you remember when you were making a camel for your DH's birthday? It can make amusing reading!
Joan IKEA is good for revamping kitchens they will do a plan for you they also have a fitting service if required!
Wildpurl hope you are enjoying a relaxing weekend.
Cassie hope all is well with you.
Lovewine, what a lovely vet you have, her kindness must be a great comfort to you. Hearing about your gecko feeding for your ES makes me realise I shouldn't moan about the amount of stuff we have here belonging to each of our daughters, at least it's all inanimate. Hope you got to enjoy your deferred pastry eating. How sad about the lady in your village who didn't make it, brings it all very close to home, doesn't it.
Rosie, loved your description of your unwelcome visitor, especially what I assume was a typo about him peeing out from under the fridge! Hope you are enjoying your story telling. I was in my GDs School yesterday being stand in mum at their Mother's Day lunch. Relieved that I could not only squeeze onto the rather low bench but get up again afterwards! Hope you enjoy your trip to the theatre.
The healthy cooking demo on Thursday was very good, as was the food produced (apart from the apple cake which was just not sweet enough for me, even though I am managing to re-educate my tastebuds a bit). Apart from the basic principles of the healthy eating approach- at least 50% plant-based, as many colours as possible and moderation- there was a big emphasis on herbs and spices. Also mushrooms and peppers. All things I use quite a lot anyway but will try to increase. Having a bit of a rest this afternoon having spent the morning trekking round Bristol getting ideas for revamping our very tired looking kitchen. Nothing planned yet for tomorrow.hope you all have good weekends.
Lovewine glad you have your migraine under control! Love the fact you feed the bugs lettuce leaves before their fate!🙀
I am waiting for Deal or No Deal, Countdown and Tipping Point!!! Joining you in the high life!
Rosie, thankfully i dont have to catch bugs- ES buys live crickets from pets at home and gives them to me in a plastic tub🙀, i always feel sorry for them so i feed them lettuce leaves for a couple of days before i release them into the lizards cage😬, i never look when i am doing it, just put them in and then rush out quickly!
goog DH located his notebook without incident! I came home after delivering my ironing as i had a very bad migraine😟, after taking one of my prescription pills its gone, but i still feel tired, i will go for my pet supplies and pecan pastry tomorrow instead! Might just watch t.v all afternoon - quite like Escape to the Country and Len Goodmans Holiday of my Lifetime! I live the high life dont i !!! 😏
What do you feed the geckos on Lovewine? You don't have to catch bugs for them do you???🙀
It's pouring with rain here at the moment which is good because we need it . I lit the fire when I came home at 1.15pm as I don't want the house to loose heat!😁 It should be back to sunny weather on Sunday!
DH dos located his notebook but not before he returned home without it! He remembered he had left it on the other desk in the office under some papers! He phoned the caretaker who unearthed it and dropped it off on his way home after unlocking! DH is now safely in school with his notebook! I was in for 3 hours this morning so am feeling a little tired!
How lovely to hear of a twice cancer survivor! It sounds like the man could do with some new shirts!😁
Hope, you had time for your pecan pastry!😜
Good morning ladies I expect we are all glad that it is Friday again!
Lovewine I am sure that your dog enjoyed the chicken! When we had a very old cat-16- and he was on his last legs I used to steam him fish!
DH hands just got straight out of bed and rushed down to school as he has left a private notebook there and he is not sure where! It has passwords in and notes on staff!🙀
MIL called last night to say she had received the Mothers Day mug and she was pleased with it!
We have had a lodger in our house! I first spotted him 2 days ago! I was going upstairs and spied something scuttle across the floor!🙀 It went under the sofa. I moved the sofa and couldn't see it so opened the front door thinking whatever it was would leave! As I opened the front door the dog got excited and leaped off the sofa and I saw a lizard poking his head out and then he ran for it under the fridge! Well I decided to leave him there wasn't going to try and move the fridge! I hoped he would find his own way out underneath the front door- yesterday I spotted him again peeing out from under the fridge as soon as I approached he dashed underneath! I was on my way out with the dog yeasterday afternoon and I went to get my shoes from the bottom of the stairs I put the first on reached for the second and realised there was a tail sticking out! 🙀 I grabbed the dust an and brush moved the shoe and brushed him into the pan and put him outside the front door- he ran back in three times and I kept sweeping him out. Eventually he sat on the patio! He was about 15 cms long!
Rosie, vet couldnt feel any enlarged lymph nodes at the moment, she said quality life is now more important than quantity and just to take each day at a time with him, i asked approximately how long before he falls out of remission- it is about 6 weeks, she has become a very good friend to me, she said she would come to our house out of normal working hours when the time comes to put him to sleep😢.hes doing very well at the moment though!
Good afternoon everyone, i am having a pit stop between back from work and then afternoon dog walk and a trip to the vet, to discuss the treatment now chemo has stopped, i think it will be steroids, hes doing very well this week, wouldnt know he was ill😊.
Thankfully the snow only lasted a short time, but due to come back again tomorrow😬.
Have found a lovely photo frame for mums photo, i popped into Waitrose on my rounds today and couldnt believe how much they are charging for a small bunch of flowers marketed as" mothers day", makes me really cross to be "ripped off"!!!😡
Rosie, hope your pupils enjoyed the stories and poems, must be very rewarding seeing their little faces.
J
Joan, hope you enjoyed your food day, particularly the tasting!😋.
I bumped into a lady in our village earlier, she went through chemo about 1 month after us, shes doing well, sadly another lady in our village who i knew slightly has just died from BC , same age as me too, so thats shook me up again.
Hope you are all ok, Wildpurl, you must be quite tired by now, hope you can relax after today!
Good evening ladies, we had quite a dollop of snow here mid morning, it came down very quickly and the roads were terrible, fortunately it didnt hang about for very long!
Joan, a very good friend of mine had one child, but after many years of trying the much longed for brother/sister never came along, they had many attempts with IVF and gave up, selling all the prams, baby equipment etc, she then conceived naturally within a few months!! I am so sorry to hear EDs latest round was unsuccessful.
My YS visited Berlin last year and really enjoyed it, the photos he took were great and it looks a wonderful city.
Rosie , hope you had a good day and completed your decluttering!
Rosie, we actually get to eat, not just taste the food. I hadn't realised that when I went to a previous demo about a year ago and had foolishly booked in for lunch afterwards. What a waste! 28 degrees seems quite incredible, here it's cold and very blustery.
Wildpurl, I'm not surprised you needed an early night. I don't think I could manage another course alongside the mindfulness one. I'm just about keeping up but not managing all the practice. What amazes me are the
people who are zooming ahead and well into each week before it officially starts.
Lovewine, what a lovely idea for a present. Berlin is in the middle of May so a while to go but devouring guide books. Great long list of things I want to see but with only three days there will have to be realistic. I'm afraid the news today about ED was sad, the latest IVF, which I'm hoping will be the last, didn't work. Pretty much as we expected but there's always that glimmer of hope. Even now I'm thinking, maybe if they give up trying it will happen naturally.
Evening ladies, it has been quite a shock to the system returning to work and I had a very early night last night but today has been better.
kirstie how nice to hear from you. I am sorry you are having to have more treatment, I preferred Docetaxel to FEC and did not have too much pain, I was able to ease it with heat. I did find it made me very tired, though. I hope your aches are starting to ease soon.
joan, your course seems to have given you lots to think about. I am still keeping up with the course (just) and have started another called Why We Post, about use of social media, I may defer starting that until I have finished mindfulness.
rosie the weather is quite variable in Cyprus at the moment! I enjoyed finding out more about your dog and her challenging start in life, it is lovely that she sometimes sees her brother.
lovewine, what a delightful idea for a Mother's Day present!
Good evening ladies, Rosie, 28 degrees!! How fabulous, the forecast is for snow here tomorrow! I watched supervet the other day and a puppy had ran head first into a flower pot and almost severed his spinal cord😬, thankfully the supervet operated on him succesfully- with a happy ending😊🐶.
Joan, yes its a big relief with YS and his accommodation, when do we ever stop worrying about them! I know my mum still worries incessantly about me. I cant believe i booked the wrong date for the hotel, certainly having a brainstorm that day..all sorted out now thankfully! Is it soon you are visiting Berlin?
My elderly aunt sorted out some very old photos of myself and my sister taken at Weymouth when i was about 5 and my sister 3 years old, i love looking at them! I am going to buy a nice frame and give it to mum for mothers day as i know she will be delighted!
Kirstie, i do hope your aches are easing off a little now .
Lovewine, pleased you managed to change your booking and that I hadn't got the date wrong. Impressed with your cleaning purge, especially after doing a days work. I found myself having a bit of a de cluttering and sorting on Sunday- a friend of mine is taking part in a documentary about our home town in 1966 and asked if I had any photos of her then, since she can't find hers (having moved around a lot). After a great deal of searching I eventually found some but it made me realise just how many we have and start to prune them. Inevitably I also came across some of me. Quite salutary to see how thin I was then. Whatever happened? What a relief that YSs accommodation is sorted, as Rosie says, one less thing to worry about.
rosie, impressed with you brushing up on your French. How is it going? Yes, we went to the theatre on Saturday afternoon to see a French Canadian black comedy.mim usually not good on these sort of things, I tend to respond to the blackness rather than seeing the humour but although it was quite disturbing and very weird I did laugh. also went to a wonderful art exhibition- Grayson Perry's tapestries about class and social mobility. Sounds heavy but actually very witty.
Wildpurl, Hope your first couple of days back at work have gone well and you are not too exhausted. It sounds as if you are going to return very glamorous after your beauty treatments. Are you managing to fit in the mindfulness course? I can understand why you decided to do it again, it's a lot to take in.
cassie, you too with the hair colour. hope you managed a quiet weekend. Has work got any easier and less frustrating?
This week is somewhat less busy than last, fortunately. I'm trying to put into practice at least some of the things I learnt on the course, particularly about eating and exercise. I'm also going to a demonstration there on healthy eating on Thursday morning.
Kirstie, it was great to hear from you, we have often wondered how things are going for ladies who are no longer posting to the group. You have clearly had a challenging time over the past year. its wonderful that you have come through your family difficulties so that they will be better able to support you through this round of treatment. I was shocked though that you are having to have further chemo. Since you didn't say why I wondered whether my memory had failed me and this was something you had mentioned earlier but having been through your previous posts I couldn't find anything. Please don't feel you need to explain but equally, don't hold back because we may be in a different place to you and the conversation in this group is often now not directly related to cancer. As far as the aching is concerned there is some suggestion that an antihistamine such as Piriton can help. I take that regularlyanyway and didn't suffer the aches as much as others did. That may be purely coincidental of course. Hope you get some good weather soon to enjoy your caravan.
Good evening Lovewine it's always good to hear about positive outcomes from cancer treatment.
You have been busy spring cleaning! I found a free online French course so I am brushing up on my French for the wedding!😏
Good evening ladies, I finished work earlier than I expected, so had a bit of a cleaning purge, cleaned my windows and washed some of the curtains😬, i picked up OH from work at 5.00 p.m and met a colleague of his who has just been discharged from oncology after 5 years clear from BC, she was only 38 when diagnosed with Triple negative, she had double mastectomy , chemo etc, i felt quite uplifted to speak to her and she looks and feels great!😊
Hi ladies,
IVe been on the nurefoen but will switch to paracetamol, I seem to be of the 1-2 days not too bad then got hit by the bus, sorry for having ton ask ladies but as I knew you would know and be honest it was a no brainer x
the new caravan is amazing its a hobby ukfe 720, 2015 model if you fancy a look - we took a loan against the house before I was diagnosis - good job, don't think they would give it me now lol
