Rosie, you certainly had a hairy time getting back to the UK. Hope you have a wonderful cruise, it’s one I would love to do, especially to see the northern lights but OH cant do sea cruises, he has middle ear problems and gets very ill. At least you will be expecting the chilly weather in Norway, and will probably have a taste of it here tomorrow to get you further acclimatised.
Lovewine, glad your mammogram is over, not long now to wait for the results and then you can breathe again for another year. Hope all goes well with your dads appt. next week, good that he is feeling better. It is awful about your friend, but as Rosie says, they wouldn’t be doing the op if they didnt think it would give him a better chance. I’m so sorry to hear about OHs work issues, I hope something is sorted soon so that at least businesses know what they will be dealing with, and fingers crossed we dont just walk off a cliff edge.
Sorry not to have been on the board this week, I seem to have been quite busy. I am generally feeling much better though still tireder than usual. But that is probably because the blood tests showed I’m anaemic, so I have to have another test in a month. Hopefully by then the bruise from the first one will have disappeared. Fortunately nothing else turned up. Not had the hospital appt through yet. Off to the theatre in Bath tomorrow, then a bit more gardening on Sunday, weather permitting.
cassie & Wildpurl, hope you are both well.
Good morning!
Lovewine we have acclimatised now and can dress appropriately! I returned my dress to Debenhams and found a more suitable one it was more expensive but had 20% off.
Yesterday I met my sister for coffee and cake in Hereford it only costs me £6.80 return on the train and takes about 30 mins. She lives in Ludlow and if she comes to Worcester has to change at Hereford that’s why we meet there sometimes!
Yes it’s the Norwegian cruise it starts on Sunday form Tilbury. We were going to go on the train until we realised it is a Sunday we would have had three changes one being a bus with two suitcases! We are driving and leaving the car at the docks. It’s rather pricey but it will be less stressful than relying on public transport!
To be honest I am beginning to feel rather stressed about it I am not a lover of being shut in a cabin at night especially if it’s a bit rough! DH is the lover of cruises! I am looking forward to seeing the scenery in Norway and hopefully the northern lights! After our late Jan cruise from Thailand to Malaysia we will stick to motorhoming! This suits us very well! The cruises were booked long before the arrival of even the idea of the motorhome!
Today DH is taking our car in for service and then we will be packing! We packed one case before we went back to Cyprus last time and can’t remember what we packed!😂🤨
Lovewine I am so pleased to hear that your dad was well enough to drive your mum to see you and be greeted by Kipp’s welcome!
Lovewine hopefully by removing the tumour your friend will have longer to see his children grow up. At 46 he needs to give himself the chance of improving life expectancy! Without it he could be gone before Christmas!🙀 They wouldn’t do the op if they thought the prognosis wouldn’t improve considerably! It’s a very worrying time for his wife!😞
The weather broke in Cyprus the day before yesterday with a huge storm and lashings of rain! We had a message from Hounds on holiday to say that all dogs were safe! 😌
Thank goodness it didn’t come the day we flew here!
Hope everyone else is ok?
Good evening ladies, Rosie, what a chaotic trip back you had to the UK, you certainly will have noticed the big drop in temperature since your last visit😬. Hope you have had a relaxing few days , shame about the Debenhams dress! Bet you are really looking forward to your cruise now too, I forgot where you are going, is it a Norweigan tour?
I have had a fairly quiet week at work this week, next week looks busy though and also have Dads appointment with the consultant to take him too, discussing the results of the camera and scan 😏, he actually seems a little better and drove up with mum to see me this afternoon for an hour, Kipp was delighted as he adores my Dad.
Our friend who has been diagnosed with lung cancer which is a secondary from his kidney cancer he had 8 years ago has had so many scans and appointments, he told me last night he had seen the specialist yesterday and been given the news his tumour in the lung is 143 mml big and he is to have an operation to remove it on 13th november, its the only option as hes been given 2 to 10 months survival without it, i didnt dare ask what the outcome is with the operation, but i expect chemo will be given too, its made me feel very down as he is only 46, 2 young children too. I was awake last night thinking about him and his family.
Joan, have you had your appointment through yet? Hope you are continuing to feel better.
Cassie, hope things are ok with you and your family, expect work is as busy as ever for you!
Wildpurl, hope you are ok , do you have any crafting on the go at the moment?
Good Morning ladies we arrived back at half past midnight which was like 02.30am to us!😴 We didn’t think we were going to leave Paphos as there was an impromptu strike by the ground crew just as we were next at the check in desk! We haven’t checked a case in for years we only had it as we need 2 for the cruise and we have one here and the other was in Cyprus! We were waiting for 1.5 hrs before they returned to work! So no time for relaxing in the airport we had to go straight to the gate with 4 other flights DH was ahead of me and I lost him and got in the Luton queue, then the Bristol one before I found the right queue for Gatwick - it was chaos, I wasn’t the only one that was confused! Fortunately we got back to Gatwick in time for the last train that would get us a connection at Reading! 😅
My teeth were chattering when we got off the train at Reading as I didn’t have a warm coat and only had thin leggings on with a thin long sleeved top!😱
Lovewine I am very sorry to hear the problems OH is experiencing at work regarding the uncertainty with the Brexit deal it must be very worrying and disappointing for you! I do hope that things will get worked out and business will pick up!😞I hope this doesn’t mean that you are going to have to work more hours!🙀
I oredered a black dress from Debenhams and I look like a pregnant mermaid in it,
so that’s going back this am! I thought £28 was a bargain!😬
Hope the week starts well for you all!
Hello ladies, what a beautiful weekend its been and today too, forecast though later in the week is very chilly with possible snow😮, I certainly hope not.
Rosie, our old dog was the same at the vets too, my two i have now are not too bad, the older one slightly less keen but Kipp not bothered at all, i feel the same when i go for my hospital check ups !
Hope things calm down for you at school a bit now and you can look forward to your trip, my friend left last saturday for a river cruise around the Norwegian Fjords, it has been slightly changed due to river levels apparently, so instead of picking up the boat at Germany they were being flown to Switzerland, sounds very nice though😊
We had a lovely group walk on saturday, we have a new member to our group, a lady with a young labrador, she is a retired Deputy Head teacher and relieved to be so now! We had coffee and walnut cake at the cafe and some had brownies with cream, all very nice too.
Worrying times for OH at the moment , with the Brexit uncertainty the company he works for is suffering, they are mainly suppliers for products for the motor industry, particularly Jaguar Land Rover who are also selling less cars, OH and colleagues have had to take a pay cut and no bonuses or overtime, this has a big impact on our finances😬, hoping it will pick up soon.
Hope you all had a good weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather.
Good Morning ladies!
Lovewine what stunning pictures of you and the dogs on the beach and the Japanese Garden. Next time We go to Cornwall I will certainly pay it a visit! It was all very well having conferences in this lovely part of the worl but we never had time to explore!
It’s going to be a stressful 2 weeks for you waiting for your result and your dad’s! I suppose if you are busy at work the time will pass more quickly.🙄
The name of the cafe you went to sounds mouth watering by its name!😂 Hope you enjoyed a well deserved delicious cake.
We had to take the dog to the vet yesterday for her booster shot and kennel cough! As always she made a huge fuss and certainly wasn’t going to participate in having the kennel cough sprayed up her nose! The vet had to tie her up with a bandage mussel! 😳 She was not impressed at all and couldn’t get in the car quick enough! She wouldn’t even eat the treat the nurse offered her!😮
Well tomorrow we fly back to the UK in preparation for our cruise starting next Sunday! It had been a very hectic stressful 2 weeks especially for DH. We have a hand over meeting at 9.00am this morning with one of the new directors!
The weather is starting to break here now. We had a dust cloud for 2 days and it was very humid. There was thunder rolling about and a rain cloud which did drop some big spots for about 1 minute!😂 it felt cooler last night. We went out with our friends to a taverna and than went on to an outdoor very nice new bar where we had coffee. We were sat out until 11.30pm in short sleeves although my arms felt cool! I had 3/4 trousers on for the first time for months here!
Joan hope you are feeling stronger now , have you had a theatre trip this weekend?
Cassie hope work hasn’t been too manic, I expect there is a mad rush now for flu vaccines? Hope the family are all well.
Wildpurl I expect that you have some new projects on the go for the winter?
Have a good rest of the weekend ladies!
The last are the beautiful japanese garden which was in the prettiest village called St Mawgan .
Good Morning ladies!
Lovewine I hope all went ok yesterday as you say the next hurdle is waiting for the results!😳
My dad had an aneurism and lived with it for many years. That wasn’t the cause of death either! It would be a possible explaination for your dad’s recent health problem. At least he is well and truely in the radar and is being looked after! It must be a constant worry for you as a family though!😞
Hopefully you have got something nice planned for the weekend?
Joan I am so releaved that you are feeling so much better. As OH insists I think you should go through with the blood test etc you are not wasting NH you have paid NI all your working life and we have all been hit down once by a killer disease you must take what is offered! Rant over!😉
Seriously we were all concerned about you!
I enjoyed my meet up with my friend for coffee we went to a new ice cream/ cafe bar just down the road from school on the coast. We had a frappe and then an ice cream, I had a caramel flavour and my friend had mango!🤪
Today I am having my nails done the first time for several weeks as I had a thin nail bed isssue!
DH is off to Nicosia today so will be gone till quite late!
I expect you are all ready for the weekend!
Thank you for all your best wishes ladies. I am feeling a lot better now, although still getting quite tired the stomach ache has gone, apart from an occasional twinge, and the cough is now just my usual dry one. I cant feel the hard area anymore so am fairly convinced that it was all a symptom of the bug. However I think I will have to go through with the blood tests and investigation just to be on the safe side and because OH is quite insistent, I think he is more worried than I am. But I do worry about wasting NHS resources.
Lovewine, sorry I got the date of your mammogram wrong. Hope all went well today and your results dont take too long to come through. Shame your dad has to go through further tests but its good they’re checking out a possible aneurism because then they can do something about it. My dads wasn’t diagnosed until he collapsed which meant the subsequent surgery, from which he still made a good recovery, had to be carried out as an emergency. Will the workload have eased off by tomorrow?
Cassie, glad the weather didnt spoil your weekend. Well done on the walking, much needed I would guess after the Sally Lunns, which I remember as being delicious but huge. Hope the work hasnt piled up while you’ve been away. Fortunate that the problems at Paddington didnt happen earlier.
Rosie, hope you enjoyed coffee with your friend. Hope you have no further trouble with ants.
I think I must be the only person not to have seen the post that was taken down. intriguing.
Evening ladies, Rosie, you are quite right i am bricking it for my mammogram tomorrow , am dreading waiting for the results. Also my sister told me Dad has had an appointment through for a ct scan on Friday evening to check on a possible aneurism in the aorta, which hasnt filled us with much comfort.
I also saw the post on sunday which was removed, i thought it was maybe because it was selling the miracle cure maybe.
Joan , i hope you are ok and have managed to distract yourself from the hospital appointment with your work.
Cassie , glad you had a good trip to Bath and enjoyed the time with your nephew too.
Good Morning Ladies,
I did notice the random post Rosie odd its been taken down, maybe the breast cancer website were not keen on the tone of it, it was a little along there can be a miracle..... It is strange the web almost feel invaded when someone unknown posts, I know it should not because its obviously a public post.
The weekend was lovely Joan we did not let the weather spoil things although it was rather colder than London, we had suitable clothing though so all was well. It was nice catching up with my nephew from Bristol we met on Saturday and Sunday he was happy to meet in Bath both times and do some site seeing with us. We manged to lunch at Sally Lunns, a visit to the Abbey and the Baths a bit of shopping and an evening meal out on Sunday, we really did not need to eat out much the food for breakfast was delicious and kept us going. We were based a little outside Bath about 17 mins walk so easily doable. We walked everywhere well over 15,000 a day so hopefully the calories were kept at bay.
I hope for a good week for all ladies, I am sure I will have plenty of work to catch up on today, I will be thinking of you Joan.
Cassie, I hope you managed to enjoy your weekend in Bath. The weather here, only 30 odd miles away, was terrible Saturday and Sunday with high winds and lashing rain, and just miserable today. Hopefully more inland it was better. At least there are plenty of indoor things to see and do.
Lovewine, you seem to have done very well with the weather in Cornwall - as we have discovered on many occasions its quite hard to find things to do in Cornwall in the rain, once you have visited all the NT houses several times! Good to hear your dad is continuing to improve even if still frail. Hope the workload isnt too bad this week and that the mammogram goes smoothly tomorrow, although I know the waiting for results is the worse bit.
Rosie, I expect you made the most of your meal out with friends on Saturday after the evening before. It must have been a good do, though, if you stayed till 11.30 despite the lack of food. Commisserations about the ants and on irritating OHs.
I gave myself a very easy weekend-foregoing a trip to the theatre at Stratford and cancelling a friend who was coming to lunch on Sunday. Didnt feel too bad about that because OH took her to the theatre instead of me. Spent most of Saturday reading detective novels and watching TV, trying not to feel guilty. By last night was feeling quite a bit better but having promised OH I would still see the doc I went this morning. Wish I hadnt now because he has ordered blood tests and referral to the hospital to check out the reason for the abdominal pain I have been having since I started with the cough, which is now much better. Unfortunately I have also had loss of appetite and lost some weight and then this morning discovered an area in my tummy which seemed a bit harder than the rest. Equally unfortunately the doc could feel it too, I thought he would tell me its my imagination. So, physically better but emotionally a bit stressed. I am determined not to think the worst but inevitably those thoughts intrude. Distracted myself this afternoon by going down to the pier office to work on the archive. I should probably have just come home again because the only artificial light had failed so the room was quite dim but it did take my mind off things. Tomorrow hopefully work will do the same.
Good morning ladies!
Did any of you notice a random post from a forum member about her experiences yesterday? It appeared after my post but has now disappeared whether it was taken down by her or the forum team who knows!🤔
Lovewine glad to hear that you had a good time in Cornwall with good weather. It must be a relief for you to get back and see your dad! Good luck with the workload today!🙀
We enjoyed our meal with our friends on Saturday night and had a good old catch up! I am meeting her for coffee on Wednesday and her OH, who is a retired accountant, is going to school to help DH and the finance manager look at the cash flow and advise! He comes over twice a year and is always willing to come and offer his expert advise!
We are being invaded with ants at the moment!🙀🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
DH really excelled himself last night. I found the a/c running at 21 in the living area this morning, he had left it on all night!🙀. He was hungry and boiled some eggs and had toast, he then marinaded the chops for dinner tonight and left the chopping board in the washing up bowl unwashed! This morning it was crawling with ants!😡 I ran the tap on them!
We have several ant traps round the place which do catch the odd few! Goodness knows where they suddenly come from when there is a morsel of food left out! We had to get the dog a stand for her bowls some years ago as they would invade any left over food!😬
You will all be pleased to know that the Giraffe Stand Tall auction in Worcester raised a staggering £240,000 for the local hospice where my sister’s friend was at the end of her life.
Have a good start to the week ladies!
Good morning ladies!
I do hope that none of you have experienced difficulties due to the wet and windy weather? I think Wales was hit the hardest?
We continue to enjoy dry sunny warm weather although the villages in the mountains have experienced some rain! We have had the continual lightning the odd rumble of thunder but no rain yet! It will come and when it does it will be with vengeance! 😱⛈
Last night we went to a colleague’s surprise 50th party! DH and I said we would leave at 9.30 we ended up leaving after 11.30pm. Neither of us had eaten and the food provided was just snack food I managed to eat a couple of very small sausage rolls and a handful of crisps! Fortunately we went easy on the drinks!😌
Cassie I hope you have an enjoyable time in Bath with YD and the meet up with your brother.
Lovewine sadly I expect your time in Cornwall is coming to a close I do hope that you find all is well with your dad on return!
Joan are you feeling any better?
Wildpurl hope all is well in your garden after the windy spell?
Enjoy the weekend ladies.
We are having a meal tonight with our friends from the Isle of Man.I shall have the 3 course menu deal after the lack of food last night!🥗🥩🥞🤪
Good Evening Ladies,
I am glad you had a lovely break in Cornwall lovewine it looks like the weather may not be too bad over the weekend after all YD and I are off to Bath for the weekend returning Mon. We are going to meet up with my nephew from Bristol which will be lovely.
Its been very heavy going today at work and I had to stay late to finish a couple of things, we were in a practice meeting until 4.15 in which I took the minutes, I felt I should type them up before the weekend or my scribble would probably not mean much by Tuesday plus I will have 4 days to catch up on.
Have a good weekend ladies
Lovewine, hope you have a lovely relaxing time in Cornwall. Rosie, love the pictures of the giraffes. Dont blame you for not bidding but I hope they make lots of money for the hospice. Cassie, it must be such a relief that GS is settling into his new school although like you I think it sounds a bit odd calling them good ‘incidents’.
Because I was Ok in Bologna, even if not 100%, I had assumed that when I got back here I woukd continue to get better. But I seem to be pretty much back to where I was before, still with a chesty cough and feeling exhausted. I also seem to be running a slightly raised temperature. So it may be back to the doc. Frustrating.
One of the many lovely views of the lakes!
The exhibition was very well done in the Chapter house in the cathedral! All the large giraffes were arranged in circle round the outside and the little ones in an inner circle! I won’t be bidding for one they are expecting the bidding to start at £2,500 for a large giraffe!😮 The smaller ones are going back to the schools that decorated them!
They should make a reasonable amount of money! 😌
Good Morning ladies!
Joan so glad that you felt well enough to enjoy Italy. I cant believe it is over already it’s gone very quickly!
Cassie glad to hear that GS has settled its such a big step for any child. Our GD who has just started Year 7 is having a lot of homework! 😔
Also glad to hear that the building work is coming to an end it seems to have been going on for a while!
I have a busy day today with the washing did a load yesterday when we returned to apartment.
Worcester had a Stand Tall art project over the summer and it involved about 40 giraffes all decorated and dotted around the city. They project was done to support the new building for the local hospice. All the giraffes have now been put in the chapter house in the cathedral and tickets were sold for a farewell event to visit them all in one place for the last time before they are auctioned and the proceeeds will go to the hospice. I should think they will make several thousand! I have 2 tickets to go at 5pm. They are visits every hour so hundreds of visitors must have been to see them. I think the event close on Sunday.
Ladies have a good weekend, especially you Lovewine I think you are off to Cornwall very soon!
Next post form sunny Cyprus! 😎
Good Evening Ladies,
Glad your dad's procedure went well lovewine it sounds really ingenious almost like science fiction,
also please your cough is improving Joan. I have had my flu jab the other day just in case.
Things are all well GS seems happy and has had many "good incidents" two in one day last week! I don't know why they call them that.
Work is as busy as ever but the building work has finished and the make over since is almost complete, two more rooms need carpeting this weekend, one new blind seems to have been missed out, so we will need to chase that up. There are very dirty hand marks already on the stairs its amazing how people are so grimey.
Keep well ladies x
Well the steroids certainly helped so I have been able to do more or less what I would expect to on holiday. Only problem has been sleeping, been awake for a couple of hours every night and Tuesday awake until 4.30. That’s despite taking a cocktail of stuff to help. Fortunately, having finished the course on Tuesday, the effect must have worn off so good night last night. Bologna a wonderful city and the apartment is comfortable. Our flight isnt till tomorrow evening so hoping to make the most of the day.
Lovewine, what an ordeal for your dad, and you as well. Let’s hope the results are informative. Have you managed to have a short day so you can get irganised for your holiday. Have a lovely relaxing time.
Rosie, have a good trip back to Cyprus. Sounds a good idea to rationalise your trips but I guess this year was exceptional, for various reasons.
wildpurl, glad you had a good holiday. Cassie, how are things with you?
Hi Ladies, I hope you are all doing well.
Right now the government has extra funding to allocate and we need to make sure breast cancer gets the priority it deserves. I've shared my story, please share yours:
https://breastcancernow.org/get-involved/campaign-with-us/take-action-now/55000reasons
Evening everyone.
last week I was on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, we stayed in a cottage in a remote village with no phone signal although we did have WiFi. We did lots of walking and exploring and had a very restful time. I took the first two days of this week off as well, so I’ve only worked two days and frankly that was enough for me!
I'm glad you are enjoying the Lakes, rosie, pity you can’t use the bike but the motor home sounds really cosy and comfortable.
joan I hope that the steroids get rid of your cough and you are recovered before you go away.
lovewine, so sorry you have had such bad news from your neighbours. It’s good your Dad has started using his scooter. OH's Dad (87) has recently inherited a scooter from his brother in law who died last year. He was very resistant to getting it as he thought it would make him look old (!) but once he started using it he found he could go into the village and along the river and do things he hasn’t been able to do for many years. It has really changed my attitude to them, not that I need one now, but if I do I hope I will see the benefits and not worry about how I look.
Rosie, hope the weather stays fine for your trip, at least dry and sunny if not warm. Pity you cant use the bike, hope the book is good. Has your cold cleared?
lovewine, great that your dad was willing, if not exactly keen to go on his mobility scooter and that he enjoyed the outing. It will be good for your mum to get out too. I hope his appt next week goes well, it sounds an amazing procedure. Its so sad about your friend, it doesnt look as if there is much in the way of treatment options they can offer him.
I havent been able to enjoy the weather this week, been really felled by this cold which went onto my chest so been constantly coughing. Went to the doctor yesterday who said its not an infection but its exacerbated the asthma so I’m on a short course of mega oral steroids ! Remember them from chemo? Hoping that will help or Im not going to see much of Bologna. Must order some more books on Kindle.
