Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies, mammogram done, i was in and out wtthin 10 mins and then went straight off to work, i do feel particularly stressed about the results this time, think its all whats going on with Dad😳, he had his CT scan last night and we go for the results in 2 weeks.
Today we are meeting up with our dog walking friends and driving to a nice area with a circular walk with a very nice cafe halfway called mint and ginger, they do fabulous cakes!
Joan, i totally agree with Rosie, you certainly are not wasting NHS resources and look at all the good worthwhile causes you have been and still are involved in ! So glad you are feeling a lot better.
Have a good weekend everyone !

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!
Lovewine I hope all went ok yesterday as you say the next hurdle is waiting for the results!😳
My dad had an aneurism and lived with it for many years. That wasn’t the cause of death either! It would be a possible explaination for your dad’s recent health problem. At least he is well and truely in the radar and is being looked after! It must be a constant worry for you as a family though!😞
Hopefully you have got something nice planned for the weekend?
Joan I am so releaved that you are feeling so much better. As OH insists I think you should go through with the blood test etc you are not wasting NH you have paid NI all your working life and we have all been hit down once by a killer disease you must take what is offered! Rant over!😉
Seriously we were all concerned about you!
I enjoyed my meet up with my friend for coffee we went to a new ice cream/ cafe bar just down the road from school on the coast. We had a frappe and then an ice cream, I had a caramel flavour and my friend had mango!🤪
Today I am having my nails done the first time for several weeks as I had a thin nail bed isssue!
DH is off to Nicosia today so will be gone till quite late!
I expect you are all ready for the weekend!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thank you for all your best wishes ladies. I am feeling a lot better now, although still getting quite tired the stomach ache has gone, apart from an occasional twinge, and the cough is now just my usual dry one. I cant feel the hard area anymore so am fairly convinced that it was all a symptom of the bug. However I think I will have to go through with the blood tests and investigation just to be on the safe side and because OH is quite insistent, I think he is more worried than I am. But I do worry about wasting NHS resources.

Lovewine, sorry I got the date of your mammogram wrong. Hope all went well today and your results dont take too long to come through. Shame your dad has to go through further tests but its good they’re checking out a possible aneurism because then they can do something about it. My dads wasn’t diagnosed until he collapsed  which meant the subsequent surgery, from which he still made a good recovery, had to be carried out as an emergency. Will the workload have eased off by tomorrow?

Cassie, glad the weather didnt spoil your weekend. Well done on the walking, much needed I would guess after the Sally Lunns, which I remember as being delicious but huge. Hope the work hasnt piled up while you’ve been away. Fortunate that the problems at Paddington didnt happen earlier.

Rosie, hope you enjoyed coffee with your friend. Hope you have no further trouble with ants.

I think I must be the only person not to have seen the post that was taken down. intriguing.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening ladies, Rosie, you are quite right i am bricking it for my mammogram tomorrow , am dreading waiting for the results. Also my sister told me Dad has had an appointment through for a ct scan on Friday evening to check on a possible aneurism in the aorta, which hasnt filled us with much comfort.

I also saw the post on sunday which was removed, i thought it was maybe because it was selling the miracle cure maybe.

Joan , i hope you are ok and have managed to distract yourself from the hospital appointment with your work.

Cassie , glad you had a good trip to Bath and enjoyed the time with your nephew too.

Good Morning ladies!
Lovewine I do wish that I had someone else to go dog walking with sometimes I don’t see anybody! Occasionally the odd cyclist will go by or runner and sometimes a dog walker. Most dog walkers take their dogs in cars to the edge of the Akamas! I went at 7.00 today so it was light.🌝
I expect that you are bricking it for tomorrow but you should be reasssured that your surgeon was pleased with you! We all know this is easier said than done!🙄 Thinking of you for tomorrow! 🌻x
Joan how are you? I do hope that you feeling much better and hoping like Lovewine suggested that maybe your lump, could be an irritable bowel or something easy to rectify!
Cassie yes maybe the post was taken down because of the miracle idea? I agree with you it does feel like an invasion when someone we don’t know posts. It’s always good to hear from original ladies though!
My friend took me to Sally Lunns last year when we visited the Christmas market in Bath I had never been before! Gosh well done on the 15000 steps I struggle to hit my target of 7000 a day!😳 I did achieve over 13000 one day while we were away! I always achieve more in the UK as I walk more there. For most of the year it’s too hot to go walking in the day here!
I am meeting up with my friend from the Isle of Man today for ☕️ coffee!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies,

I did notice the random post Rosie odd its been taken down, maybe the breast cancer website were not keen on the tone of it, it was a little along there can be a miracle.....  It is strange the web almost feel invaded when someone unknown posts, I know it should not because its obviously a public post.

The weekend was lovely Joan we did not let the weather spoil things although it was rather colder than London, we had suitable clothing though so all was well. It was nice catching up with my nephew from Bristol we met on Saturday and Sunday he was happy to meet in Bath both times and do some site seeing with us. We manged to lunch at Sally Lunns, a visit to the Abbey and the Baths a bit of shopping and an evening meal out on Sunday, we really did not need to eat out much the food for breakfast was delicious and kept us going. We were based a little outside Bath about 17 mins walk so easily doable. We walked everywhere well over 15,000 a day so hopefully the calories were kept at bay.

I hope for a good week for all ladies, I am sure I will have plenty of work to catch up on today, I will be thinking of you Joan.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies , Rosie it is still dark too at 7.00 a.m when we walk , really hate it , but usually there are 3/4,of us and several dogs .
Joan definitely do not feel guilty having some time for yourself as Rosie says you are always thinking of everyone else ! I understand your worries about the tests etc , I remember visiting the G.P years ago with tummy problems and a hard lump I could feel very clearly in the lower area of tummy and it was irritable bowel , we have mentioned before that since chemo our digestive system has never really recovered - I know mine hasn’t. Hope you don’t have to wait too long to get your appointment , thinking of you 🌼.
I had an horrendous working day yesterday , just as I thought with double loads from everyone and today looks the same too😮

Good morning ladies!
I have an early start at 8.15 today I am having to wait to take the dog out as it is still very dark any 6.28!
Joan you mustn’t feel quilty by a bit of self indulgence! You are always thinking of others and helping out with the GC etc.
I can well understand how you feel and hope that the hospital appointment comes through quickly so hopefully anything sinister can be elimated! Thinking of you at this worrying time!💐
Lovewine hope your day wasn’t too manic yesterday?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie, I hope you managed to enjoy your weekend in Bath. The weather here, only 30 odd miles away, was terrible Saturday and Sunday with high winds and lashing rain, and just miserable today. Hopefully more inland it was better. At least there are plenty of indoor things to see and do.

Lovewine, you seem to have done very well with the weather in Cornwall - as we have discovered on many occasions its quite hard to find things to do in Cornwall in the rain, once you have visited all the NT houses several times! Good to hear your dad is continuing to improve even if still frail. Hope the workload isnt too bad this week and that the mammogram goes smoothly tomorrow, although I know the waiting for results is the worse bit.

Rosie, I expect you made the most of your meal out with friends on Saturday after the evening before. It must have been a good do, though, if you stayed till 11.30 despite the lack of food. Commisserations about the ants and on irritating OHs.

I gave myself a very easy weekend-foregoing a trip to the theatre at Stratford and cancelling a friend who was coming to lunch on Sunday. Didnt feel too bad about that because OH took her to the theatre instead of me. Spent most of Saturday reading detective novels and watching TV, trying not to feel guilty. By last night was feeling quite a bit better but having promised OH I would still see the doc I went this morning. Wish I hadnt now because he has ordered blood tests and referral to the hospital to check out the reason for the abdominal pain I have been having since I started with the cough, which is now much better. Unfortunately I have also had loss of appetite and lost some weight and then this morning discovered an area in my tummy which seemed a bit harder than the rest. Equally unfortunately the doc  could feel it too, I thought he would tell me its my imagination. So, physically better but emotionally a bit stressed. I am determined not to think the worst but inevitably those thoughts intrude. Distracted myself this afternoon by going down to the pier office to work on the archive. I should probably have just come home again because the only artificial light had failed so the room was quite dim but it did  take my mind off things. Tomorrow hopefully work will do the same.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!
Did any of you notice a random post from a forum member about her experiences yesterday? It appeared after my post but has now disappeared whether it was taken down by her or the forum team who knows!🤔
Lovewine glad to hear that you had a good time in Cornwall with good weather. It must be a relief for you to get back and see your dad! Good luck with the workload today!🙀
We enjoyed our meal with our friends on Saturday night and had a good old catch up! I am meeting her for coffee on Wednesday and her OH, who is a retired accountant, is going to school to help DH and the finance manager look at the cash flow and advise! He comes over twice a year and is always willing to come and offer his expert advise!
We are being invaded with ants at the moment!🙀🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
DH really excelled himself last night. I found the a/c running at 21 in the living area this morning, he had left it on all night!🙀. He was hungry and boiled some eggs and had toast, he then marinaded the chops for dinner tonight and left the chopping board in the washing up bowl unwashed! This morning it was crawling with ants!😡 I ran the tap on them!
We have several ant traps round the place which do catch the odd few! Goodness knows where they suddenly come from when there is a morsel of food left out! We had to get the dog a stand for her bowls some years ago as they would invade any left over food!😬

You will all be pleased to know that the Giraffe Stand Tall auction in Worcester raised a staggering £240,000 for the local hospice where my sister’s friend was at the end of her life.
Have a good start to the week ladies!

Wildpurl hope you are ok too.
Saw Dad today and he seemed slightly better although still very frail .

Good morning ladies!
I do hope that none of you have experienced difficulties due to the wet and windy weather? I think Wales was hit the hardest?
We continue to enjoy dry sunny warm weather although the villages in the mountains have experienced some rain! We have had the continual lightning the odd rumble of thunder but no rain yet! It will come and when it does it will be with vengeance! 😱⛈
Last night we went to a colleague’s surprise 50th party! DH and I said we would leave at 9.30 we ended up leaving after 11.30pm. Neither of us had eaten and the food provided was just snack food I managed to eat a couple of very small sausage rolls and a handful of crisps! Fortunately we went easy on the drinks!😌
Cassie I hope you have an enjoyable time in Bath with YD and the meet up with your brother.
Lovewine sadly I expect your time in Cornwall is coming to a close I do hope that you find all is well with your dad on return!
Joan are you feeling any better?
Wildpurl hope all is well in your garden after the windy spell?
Enjoy the weekend ladies.
We are having a meal tonight with our friends from the Isle of Man.I shall have the 3 course menu deal after the lack of food last night!🥗🥩🥞🤪

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Evening Ladies,

I am glad you had a lovely break in Cornwall lovewine it looks like the weather may not be too  bad over the weekend after all YD and I are off to Bath for the weekend returning Mon. We are going to meet up with my nephew from Bristol which will be lovely.

Its been very heavy going today at work and I had to stay late to finish a couple of things, we were in a practice meeting until 4.15 in which I took the minutes, I felt I should type them up before the weekend or my scribble would probably not mean much by Tuesday plus I will have 4 days to catch up on.

Have a good weekend ladies

Good morning ladies!
Lovewine I am so pleased to hear that you are having a relaxing time in Cornwall enjoy the rest of your stay. I used to stay in a hotel near Mawgen Porth for conferences when I was HT in Cornwall! A lovely part of the country! I like the sound of the Japanese water garden what is the name of the village it is in?
A busy week here sorting resources etc.
The weather threatened to break yesterday we saw black clouds over the hills and could hear the odd rumble of thunder but it stayed in the hills!
I have experienced a few stray dogs on the dog walk! I am not very keen on the big ones when they bark!🙀 I met a beagle pup 2 days ago he was a very friendly little chap very thin he had a fluorescent colour on with no disc- obviously a hunting dog so he could be seen! Whether he was dumped or got lost I don’t know. Fortunately another lady with a small dog pg came along and he followed her home. I saw her yesterday and she said he spent all day in her garden she fed him gave him a water and a bed. He played with her dog but she had to go out in the afternoon and when she came back he had gone!😢 We haven’t seen him since. But I did see another larger dog yesterday with the same sort of fluorescent collar so maybe there are several of them in the area and he had gone back to his family?
Nearly the weekend again!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies , having a very nice week in Cornwall with lots of walking and time spent relaxing which is welcome after the recent weeks !
Yesterday we travelled over to the North coast to Mawgan Porth beach and then spent the afternoon in a very sweet little village nearby which had a Japanese water garden - it was so calming and relaxing to walk around , the weather has been glorious too.
Joan I hope you feel a bit better soon , glad it didn’t spoil your trip to Bologna though.
Rosie , how annoying about the car , I dread the bills after repairs as they always seem to be much higher than I expected😮
Hope everyone is ok.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!
Joan I am so sorry that you are still not feeling better but glad that you managed to enjoy your time in Bologna. I think you definitely need to return to the doctor and give yourself a few days to do very little except rest!
Lovewine I hope you are enjoying the late summer weather in Cornwall and managing some relaxation?
DH car had a problem before we left for the UK and was worked on when we were away. Unfortunately the repair didn’t work and the mechanic is waiting for a part from the UK to repair it!😬 He has been told at least 2 weeks so it won’t get going again until we are back mid November!🙀 Fortunately we have my very small car that DH calls a go-kart!😡😢 He is glad of it at the moment!
Hope all is well with you Cassie and Wildpurl?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine, hope you have a lovely relaxing time in Cornwall. Rosie, love the pictures of the giraffes. Dont blame you for not bidding but I hope they make lots of money for the hospice. Cassie, it must be such a relief that GS is settling into his new school although like you I think it sounds a bit odd calling them good ‘incidents’.

Because I was Ok in Bologna, even if not 100%, I had assumed that when I got back here I woukd continue to get better. But I seem to be pretty much back to where I was before, still with a chesty  cough and feeling exhausted. I also seem to be running a slightly raised temperature. So it may be back to the doc. Frustrating.

The exhibition was very well done in the Chapter house in the cathedral! All the large giraffes were arranged in circle round the outside and the little ones in an inner circle! I won’t be bidding for one they are expecting the bidding to start at £2,500 for a large giraffe!😮 The smaller ones are going back to the schools that decorated them!

They should make a reasonable amount of money! 😌

Lovewine I hope your trip to Cornwall went well it was such a wet day yesterday!😔 We had a train delay so missed our connection to Gatwick and had to wait for the next one. We arrived just as the gate was opened! Then we sat for an hour on the runway!😬
We are off to lunch soon with some colleagues and then have to pick up some shopping!😒

Good Morning ladies!
Joan so glad that you felt well enough to enjoy Italy. I cant believe it is over already it’s gone very quickly!
Cassie glad to hear that GS has settled its such a big step for any child. Our GD who has just started Year 7 is having a lot of homework! 😔
Also glad to hear that the building work is coming to an end it seems to have been going on for a while!
I have a busy day today with the washing did a load yesterday when we returned to apartment.
Worcester had a Stand Tall art project over the summer and it involved about 40 giraffes all decorated and dotted around the city. They project was done to support the new building for the local hospice. All the giraffes have now been put in the chapter house in the cathedral and tickets were sold for a farewell event to visit them all in one place for the last time before they are auctioned and the proceeeds will go to the hospice. I should think they will make several thousand! I have 2 tickets to go at 5pm. They are visits every hour so hundreds of visitors must have been to see them. I think the event close on Sunday.
Ladies have a good weekend, especially you Lovewine I think you are off to Cornwall very soon!

Next post form sunny Cyprus! 😎

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Evening Ladies,

Glad your dad's procedure went well lovewine it sounds really ingenious almost like science fiction,

also please your cough is improving Joan. I have had my flu jab the other day just in case.

Things are all well GS seems happy and has had many "good incidents" two in one day last week! I don't know why they call them that.

Work is as busy as ever but the building work has finished and the make over since is almost complete, two more rooms need carpeting this weekend, one new blind seems to have been missed out, so we will need to chase that up. There are very dirty hand marks already on the stairs its amazing how people are so grimey.

Keep well ladies x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well the steroids certainly helped so I have been able to do more or less what I would expect to on holiday. Only problem has been sleeping, been awake for a couple of hours every night and Tuesday awake until 4.30. That’s despite taking a cocktail of stuff to help. Fortunately, having finished the course on Tuesday, the effect must have worn off so good night last night. Bologna a wonderful city and the apartment is comfortable. Our flight isnt till tomorrow evening so hoping to make the most of the day.

Lovewine, what an ordeal for your dad, and you as well. Let’s hope the results are informative. Have you managed to have a short day so you can get irganised for your holiday. Have a lovely relaxing time.

Rosie, have a good trip back to Cyprus. Sounds a good idea to rationalise your trips but I guess this year was exceptional, for various reasons.

wildpurl, glad you had a good holiday. Cassie, how are things with you?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine I am so sorrry that your dad’s procedure was so stressful what an awful day for you all! Let’s hope the results are favourable!
When are you off to Cornwall I know it’s soon? I do hope that you and OH manage to get a stress free break that you need!
We fly to Cyprus on Saturday and are returning on Oct 22nd to go on our Norway cruise for 2 weeks. It’s hardly worth going back but we need to sort a few things out with the buisness and then of course there is the poor dog!🐶This 2 weeks went in as an extra last time we were back purely to use the motorhome! I am seeing the knee specialist in Nov before we return. Then we are back again for Christmas Dec19th. We are going to have to cut down on flights next year and manage our time better! Its not only an expense but I find it very stressful coming and going!😬
We met up with our friends last night that live near Tewkesbury as we spent our final night at the Tewkesbury Abbey site. It’s very handy for the town. It’s somehere we have never been before even though we have passed by many times on the motorway!
Going to be busy washing when we get back!😞

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies , Rosie , hope you have enjoyed your trip , not much time in Worcester before you fly back 😏, when are you planning to return again ? The weather here picked up and has been glorious .
Dads hospital appt was stressful , we had to be there by 8.30 which took us nearly an hour due to rush hour traffic , of course the endoscopy department was miles from the car park so we had to use a wheelchair 😳, like a supermarket trolley it didn’t go the way we wanted it too! After ages waiting Dad was fitted with a large belt with wires and electronics around his middle and given this large capsule to swallow which was very bright and flashing , he swallowed it easily but then we had to wait until it passed through to his lower bowel from stomach , we were told to keep him walking for half an hour in the corridor which is difficult when he can hardly walk anywhere 😡, you could see the internal organs on the belt monitor 😮, it didn’t go down after ages , doctor said we could go home with dad and return at five o’clock to remove what looked like a bomb strapped to him . In fact he had a large red arm band indicating it was a medical procedure in case we went out in a public place ! It was a very long tiring day .
I hope to finish work today so I can be organised for my trip to Cornwall 😊.
Have a safe trip back Rosie .

Good morning ladies , Rosie , how nice to meet up with DD and family , I love the Lake District although haven’t been for a few years , we stayed near Kendal , always remember driving through Hawkshead and ending up on a single track road on the steepest mountain , sheer drop either side of us and trying not to show my panic with the boys in the car who were small then 😬OH gripping the steering wheel in horror !!
Enjoy the rest of your time there . How long are you in the U.K for ? It’s certainly becoming a lot cooler now.
I have a steady day today , busy rest of the week , also have Dad to take for his camera procedure at 7.30 tomorrow morning.
Joan I hope you are feeling better and are able to enjoy Bolognia , still nice temperatures in Italy I expect .
Cassie , hope all is well with ED and GS and school.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone.

last week I was on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, we stayed in a cottage in a remote village with no phone signal although we did have WiFi. We did lots of walking and exploring and had a very restful time. I took the first two days of this week off as well, so I’ve only worked two days and frankly that was enough for me!

I'm glad you are enjoying the Lakes, rosie, pity you can’t use the bike but the motor home sounds really cosy and comfortable.

joan I hope that the steroids get rid of your cough and you are recovered before you go away.

lovewine, so sorry you have had such bad news from your neighbours. It’s good your Dad has started using his scooter. OH's Dad (87) has recently inherited a scooter from his brother in law who died last year. He was very resistant to getting it as he thought it would make him look old (!) but once he started using it he found he could go into the village and along the river and do things he hasn’t been able to do for many years. It has really changed my attitude to them, not that I need one now, but if I do I hope I will see the benefits and not worry about how I look.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Rosie, hope the weather stays fine for your trip, at least dry and sunny if not warm. Pity you cant use the bike, hope the book is good. Has your cold cleared?

lovewine, great that your dad was willing, if not exactly keen  to go on his mobility scooter and that he enjoyed the outing. It will be good for your mum to get out too. I hope his appt next week goes well, it sounds an amazing procedure. Its so sad about your friend, it doesnt look as if there is much in the way of treatment options they can offer him.

I havent been able to enjoy the weather this week,  been really felled by this cold which went onto my chest so been constantly coughing. Went to the doctor yesterday who said its not an infection but its exacerbated the asthma so I’m on a short course of mega oral steroids ! Remember them from chemo? Hoping that will help or Im not going to see much of Bologna. Must order some more books on Kindle.

Good Morning Lovewine so glad to hear that your dad has been out good for them both!
Yes sadly summer is fading! It’s very cool in the Lake District! It’s sunny today but we are on a forest! But moving off today to another site! Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies , what a beautiful week for the weather it’s been , I had a quiet working day yesterday so managed to probably have my last outing on my swinging chair before it’s packed away until next summer 🙁, definitely been the purchase of the year for me!
Rosie , hope your cold has improved , have you been up to the Lake District yet?
Joan ,have a wonderful holiday , are you all ready for it now ?
I have today off , need to catch up on some jobs and also pop out for some shopping .
Dad ventured out with mum and sister yesterday around the village and up to the park on his mobility scooter, he took some persuading but enjoyed it once he was out !
Have a good weekend everyone 😊

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!
Yes the weather came as a bit of a shock but we have the clothing here to cope with it and the apartment keeps it heat very well! We have underfloor heating but don’t need to use it yet each room is at 22 which is just fine!
Unfortunately I have developed a cold virus it has been threatening for over a week! I am taking cold and flu tablets!
Joan I think they should have offered your money back for the theatre palaver! 😡
Hope you soon feel better I haven’t got the cough so far I’ ve got the head and nose after having the thick throat for a week!🙄
Lovewine I am not surprised that you feel down with the news of you neighbours demise and the worry of your dad. It’s incredible the procedures that they can perform now! The house always feels empty when your visitor goes especially your family!😢 As you say at least he is in good spirits after his relationship breakup, that would have just tipped you over the scales to deal with a depressed son!
At least the weather is a little brighter and you have your forthcoming holiday in Cornwall to look forward to!
Joan I do hope you will feel better soon and enjoy Italy.
Cassie hope GS has settled more now and that life at the surgery isn’t too stressful?
Wildpurl I expect you are busy winterising your garden?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies .
Rosie , hope you have enjoyed the cooler weather !! It’s certainly a shock after such a lovely summer , there was a frost yesterday at 7.00 a.m over the fields too. Hope you enjoyed catching up with your sister and also MIL.
A friend of mine is also looking into booking next years holiday around the Ty Coch area as it is so nice .
Joan , what a palaver at the theatre , not surprised you have developed a cough , hope you are feeling better today and can get sorted out for your trip on Saturday .
Our friend goes in for a lung biopsy tomorrow , consultant has said surgery and radiotherapy is not an option because of where the tumour is unfortunately , they will give him chemotherapy , until they get the full picture from biopsy they are not sure which type , I picked up some leaflets from Macmillan last week and also gave him a number to ring to make an appt - re finances and help. I don’t think the outcome looks very good , they have told the children , his wife is a good friend of mine and also cuts my hair , saw her last week and she is very positive and strong .
Dad also continues to struggle , he is still weak and frail , he has an appt next week to have a very strange procedure - he swallows a small tablet containing a camera and goes home and the camera travels through the body recording images onto a belt around his middle and then we return at 5.00 o’clock to hospital and belt removed and data analysed !! Nature then takes its course with the empty capsule 😮
Must say with my Dad and my friend I am feeling quite “ down in the dumps “.
Also YS leaving after a week doesn’t help , he is doing fine and quite happy which is a relief after last time !
Hope you are ok Cassie and GS is settling at school ok now .
Wildpurl , not so busy now with garden jobs now I should think .
Have a good day ladies .

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Welcome back to the UK, Rosie. You will certainly have noticed its autumn here, with a vengeance. Shame about the plane delay but at least you didnt have a problem with your tickets not being valid. Hope you are now rested and had an enjoyable meeting with your sister.  Our Anglesey holiday isnt until next March but both OH and YD like to get things sorted well in advance.

Lovewine, how are things with your dad? Glad you had a good evening with your family and that YS is OK about the breakup. What horrible news about your friend though. So young. Is he going to have treatment?

Cassie and Wildpurl, hope all well with you.

Had a rather strange trip to the theatre on Saturday. For the first time ever the Park and Ride let us down. Not their fault, huge delays on the road into Bath. When we got there, 10 minutes late, we were parked in the bar where there was a TV streaming the play. Not as you get in a proper streaming where you get closeups, clearly shot from the back of the auditorium. But better than nothing though it was a bit distracting because next to us was a woman being attended to by a St Johns Ambulance nurse, and about 30 other latecomers dribbled in, all having to have their tickets checked, being told where the loos were etc. 20 mins later one of the theatre staff started organising people into groups according to which part of the theatre they were going to be put in at the end of the first act. Some people quite cross they couldn’t have the seats they had booked because of the disruption it would cause, and one woman very cross because she would be in cheaper seats. We were among the last to be moved but missed the end of the act in the process. And then the play seemed even more puzzling than other ones by this particular author so at the end of it we really werent sure whether we were meant to be confused or whether it was because we had missed the bits which would have made it clear! The guy next to us, also a latecomer, just gave up and went to sleep.

Got quite cold waiting for the bus and now have a horrid cold and cant stop coughing. OH plans to sleep in the spare bedroom tonight. Had to cancel what Iwas going to do today and tomorrow and cossetting myself in the hope it will have cleared by Saturday when we fly to Bologna.

Hello ladies!
We arrived in Worcester at 12.35 am! The plane was delayed and we missed the 7pm train that we were booked onto! I was bricking it in case our ticket was checked and we were on the wrong train after my Oxford experience!😳Fortunately we got through on both trains and they weren’t checked!
Had to swap sandals at Reading for shoes and socks! 😱 20 degree drop!
Meeting my sister today in town and and seeing mother in law tomorrow!
Nice to have a family gathering Lovewine I hope that YS and OH mange to get the ivy down!
Hope that your dad is improving now he is home?

Morning ladies , Rosie I hope you arrived without too much hassle and you enjoy your trip 😊 weather is improving next week too!
Had a nice evening out with sons, DIL and OH last night at the local curry restaurant which was very good.
OH and YS have been trying to cut down some very invasive ivy all week but the wind and rain hasn’t helped while stuck up a ladder!
Have a good weekend everyone 😊

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!
Yes Joan the fires are in the hills surrounding our village! This is the time of year they are a problem with the tinder dry scrub and a wind wafting any flames!🙀 Usually started by cigarettes not being extinguished or locals lighting bonfires!🙀
The film Confessions of a Shopaholic wasn’t as good as the book.
When are you going on your family holiday to Anglesey? We are going a family holiday again in N Wales near the Ty Coch Inn. We are going from Aug 2 for a week.
Lovewine how bizarre that you stood behind a lady from Polis! It’s quite a sleepy town she certainly wouldn’t be able to purchase any Christmas presents!
What a shame about your friend across the road so young! 😢
Sounds like YS’s relationship wasn’t the one!
As Joan said at least he is not broken hearted as he was last time!
DH car is playing up so he has been using mine leaving me stranded! A mechanic is coming to look at it this am.
I haven’t driven a car in the UK since we left 10 years ago and I doubt that I ever will again. We will probably have to go down to one car here soon and if it’s too big I just won’t want to drive it! My dad drove well into his 80’s he wasn’t always safe though!😳

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening ladies, lovely photo of the cocktail and the beach Rosie, hope the fires are under control now, i thought of you the other day, i was in Edinburgh woollen mill locally and chatted to a lady in the queue, she lives in Polis and was buying Christmas presents for her grandchildren!

Joan, enjoy your peaceful week, it makes a nice change to have some time to read , i have been too stressed over dad to concentrate, i have had a couple of disappointing reads though- latest one was called The wife between us.

Had some upsetting news today- our very good friends who live across the road came and told us today that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer- he is 44 . He had kidney cancer just before i was diagnosed, but he had it all removed along with the kidney and was given the all clear, yearly checks followed, a shadow was found on his lung recently, they have 2 children ages 12 and 8 .

YS is ok, had a long chat with him last night, he seems fine, said the split was amicable, but he just didnt put the effort he should have into the relationship and felt they didnt have much to talk about, or much in common.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good news that your dad is home, Lovewine, I hope he soon recovers his strength. Sorry to hear about YS’s relationship but maybe its for the best and from what you’ve said, without the trauma of last time. I’m getting increasingly nervous about motorways too, on our journey up to London on Sunday we saw a very long articulated lorry overturned on the other carriageway and when we came back 9 hours laterthe motorway was still closed with a long tailback so had a long diversion and got back late. Had to go on the motorway the next morning to get to my Qi Gong class and   really needed it by the time I got there.

cassie, you will be relieved that GS has had a better week at school. Well done him for getting the positives. Hope this week also goes well.

Rosie, beautiful view from behind your birthday cocktail. And dramatic views of the firefighting. I think last year there were really bad forest fires which came quite close to you. Has that happened this year? Are you enjoying your Confessions of a Shopoholic. I have been gorging on detective novels and just downloaded the new Cormoran Strike one. Feel very guilty because it was more than I normally allow myself and although I should keep it for going on holiday I dont think it will last that long.

Nothing much happening this week. Just booked next years annual holiday with the family, in Anglesey. And looking forward to going away at the end of the month.
