Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies, glad you are safely home rosie.
Cassie I struggled with energy when I was working full time again, I am doing much better on 4 days a week and really appreciate having the extra day at the weekend. Of course I have just had two weeks off, so my energy levels are quite high now. I am already planning to take a week off in February. I like to have a winter break, although will just stay at home, and I usually take the half term week.

Well, last day off today. We are going to go for a walk this morning then this afternoon probably take down the tree. My sweater is sewn up so this evening I will start the collar, it has a big cowl neck collar which should not take too long.
Hope you all enjoy your Sundays!

Does the 3 week cycle then go from the delayed date ? Maybe as it is intravenous and in Cyprus they will do it the day before!!!?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Rosie, i was told we have usually 18 herceptins every 3 weeks! Also my last one was due xmas day but nurse said the protocol is to never have it before the 21 days( even by one day), but there is a 7 day period afterwards that you can have it!.. So mine was done on 29th december instead of 25th. Im sure you can delay it whilst on cruise as i know some ladies have a month or so break from it if heart echo is low- a cruise sounds something lovely to look forward too!!😄🍸

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine I have been working out the diary with my herceptin dates every 3 weeks from 7 Jan. Do we have 12 shots or 12 months can't remember. Also will they give it 1 day before? I am due on April 1st which is a bank holiday here but also the date we go on a 2 week cruise from Limassol!
Lucky you not putting any weight on!
I am definitely in awe of Wildpurl's interesting meals also! 😛

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, Rosie, hope your washing dries today! Very cold and foggy here and really icy underfoot on the pavements after all of yesterdays rain, so walked the dogs very carefully this morning as dont want a broken bone to add to everything else!! Glad im not the only odd one secretly sniffing childrens clothes !!

Cassie, i am interested in your sore feet in the mornings!? I have very sore feet too after sitting down for a while and particularly in the mornings, i thought it was the herceptin but nurse did say could be the chemo, you arent on herceptin so thinking mine is chemo related too. Hope your appointments go well this week, they are very stressful.

Wildpurl, hope you enjoyed your stew, sounds delicious! I agree with cassie- you are always so active and cook lovely interesting meals, i am in awe of your energy, mine is improving, but nowhere near as good as yours!! Now spring is around the corner i expect you are planning your garden vegetables?

Have good days everyone! Rosie, i can be very thankful for one small thing, i am very fortunate in not putting weight on at all whatever i eat- so suitably smug!😇 not sure how long this will continue , but making the most of it at the moment!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie lovely to hear from you hope your appointments go well in the week. We never get used to them do we? I think we had all hoped to put cancer behind us on New Year's Eve and still some of us are having treatment, checks and more surgery!!!
It is a lovely sunny morning here in Cyprus today I took the dog for her walk with a coat on and came back feeling rather warm. Have got the washing done and outside as I don't think the rest of the week looks very promising!
Have a good day ladies today and for those returning to work tomorrow good luck. We have a training day tomorrow that I shall attend. Tuesday is a bank holiday our pupils return on 7th.
Have any of you dared to get on the scales? 😫 I have put 2 pounds on I guess it could have been much worse! No more crisps, nuts, chocolates and only alcohol on Friday and Saturday!😁

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I am glad that most ladies managed to enjoy seeing in the New Year in our own very different ways, I did not quite stay awake long enough, but then I was a work all day.

Joan congratulations, how exciting.

Rosie, I am thinking of you now you are back home.

Lovewine, your new year sounds almost like mine but I had terrified cat sitting with me instead.

Wildpurl you always sound so active and positive I am envious even though I am back a work full time I really do not have the energy for much else, which is a shame.

I agree we have all done wonders by supporting each other its strangley comforting taking part in the thread and so many of us have now been supporting each other since April, its a long time.

I have a couple of appointments in the next couple of weeks Physioand Endocrinology, hopefully no nasty suprises. My tight veins are becoming less uncomfortable but the painful feet first thing in the morning almost preventing me from walking down the stairs seem exactly the same, I guess I am being impatient as usual and need to give things more time but it is difficult when one has had a year like we all have, you justwant to get to a state of mind where you can put it all behind you and I am not sure any of us are able to do just that yet.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening all, I slept well last night! Have been to Pilates today, unpacked everything, done two wash loads and started sewing up my sweater. It is nice to be home, much as I enjoyed my trip away.
I hope you are all settling back in after the holidays and enjoying some relaxation. Your heart echo score is good, rosie, you must be pleased with your progress. I know it's not the same as family but we are still here! I think you need a treat to cheer you up.
Lovewine, glad your Dad is doing well. I hope you have some time for yourself as well.

North African squash and chickpea stew for dinner tonight. It smells very warm and spicy, just what I need on a cold winter's evening.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hope you are back home now rosie and have managed to warm the house up! I hate being cold😟 bet your dog was very happy to see you! Hope you dont feel too deflated, though i suspect you do, so do i !😥
It will take time to adjust to the loss of your dad, now you are home too it will be hard without all the family support but i am sure your lovely D/H is a big support to you. I have cleaned Y/S room inside and out and even sniffed his clothes hes left behind and felt sad again! Good to hear you start herceptin soon, you will find ( hopefully!) minor side effects, compared to chemo very manageable! I get a very sore inside of my nose, stiff fingers and feet in the morning and rubbish nails, but it is a " wonder drug" so very grateful to have it!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies at Bristol airport! 😥
Lovewine I can understand how you feel I am having coffee and brandy! I am never keen going back after Christmas as it is months till I will see the family again! This time it feels worse than usual!
You are correct Lovewine the weather this week in Cyprus does not look good! Our house will be very cold and lost any heat it may have had. We are hopefully picking the dog up on the way back from the airport she will be glad to see us. I feel as if we have been away a very long time. We have seen so many family members and travelled between Newcastle and Plymouth!
Gold to hear your dad is improving at home Lovewine.
Joan it was very helpful to have family around and I know I am going to very sad when left to my own devices. Herceptin is due to start on Jan7th and of course I still have 2 more dreaded inflations before the surgery for the implants! Not a happy bunny!😪
Wildpurl, glad you are home safely enjoy your weekend!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening all, back home again after another long journey and a visit to my BIL and family. Had a lovely break and very glad to be home now for a couple of days before going back to work.
I was sad to see my DD and DS leave after such a lovely Christmas together, and FIL was sad when we left this morning. I think it's normal to feel like that after a lovely time together as a family. However I like my life and home and am glad to get back to my own space, too. There will be other family times to look forward to.
OH's nephew is getting married in August and we are invited, so plan to go back up to Scotland for the wedding and then take our summer holiday up there afterwards. FIL also offered us his timeshare week in the Scottish highlands in June, as part of my convalescence from my operation, which would be very nice if we have enough holiday.

In the meantime I have a laundry mountain to get through tomorrow!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening ladies. Thank you all for your congratulations. Coming down off cloud 9 now. No, TiJ I don't think this comes with an invite to a garden party. The ceremony will be within the next 7 months and you get about 5 weeks notice apparently.

Lovewine, sorry you're feeling down but having had YS living with you for quite some time it's understandable you're feeling empty nesty again. But it's great that your dad is improving and that your heart scan was good. Like you I've read about the links between BC and diet. The cutting down on red and processed meat and eating lots of veg isn't a problem. But I am going to struggle a bit with the cutting down on sugar. Decided not to beat myself up about that over xmas (I can highly recommend Waitrose's Italian pralines!) but from next week.....!!!

Rosie, hope you have an uneventful journey back home. I would imagine that having your family around over the last little while has helped you cope with the loss of your dad so it might hit you hard when they are at a distance.

Wildpurl, enjoy your last few days relaxation.

Kirstie, what a memorable way of describing the support we have had from this forum. I feel it should be quoted on the website.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening ladies, feeling rather flat and sad😥😟, dropped my YS off at train station for his new home and job in London! Just me and O/H now and of course 2 dogs, house feels empty, of course both sons left for 3 years when at uni , but YS had done his masters degree at Leicester uni so lived back at home then and subsequently just after too, now OS married and YS moving on and although very happy to see them fly the nest i feel very sad! Rosie, am sure you will be feeling very much the same when flying home to cyprus tomorrow!
Dad continues to improve at home thankfully, although we know every day we have him is a bonus. But at least he is out of hospital at the moment.
Hope you are all enjoying the remainder of the holidays, wildpurl, hope your scottish break was a nice change of scene before returning to work on monday! Joan, hope you manage a trip down to lyme regis, always such a lovely place to visit any time of the year.
Tomorrow i think i may go to our large fruit and veg market and stock up on said items as am trying to adopt more of a " mediterannean diet"! And am also trying to cut down on sugar!! Have read numerous articles on diet after cancer and sugar features highly as a thing to cut out, so giving it a go!
Have a smooth , safe journey home Rosie , apparently it was milder here in uk on new years day than it was in cyprus! Hopefully its sunny when you return.😄

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning all yes this year we must meet up,as Kirstie said who knew we were going to get our best support form a computer and a bunch of strangers???
It will be Mid to late July when we are next in UK will let you know, when we have flights booked which will be done fairly soon on arrival back in Cyprus.
Lovewine my score is 53! I am glad your nurse was so much support for you and made you feel more positive.
I am not looking forward to leaving the family behind it has been lovely to see them all. Eldest son and fiancée are safely back in France. DD and family are back in Newcastle after visiting SIL's family in Bristol. This evening we will be saying goodbye to YS and family leaving for Bristol airport early in the morning!😥
Enjoy the rest of your stay in Scotland Wildpurl!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning all, I managed to stay up until 11:30 then went to bed and was kept awake by fireworks going off and drunken revellers in the streets LOL.

Wishing all of us an easier, healthier New Year and yes definitely want to meet up 🙂

Today another lazy morning - did not get up till after 9.00am! - I am sitting in the cold room where you can get a wifi signal. FIL is not too bothered about wifi and mainly heats the dining room where there is no signal. We are going to get him a booster I think! This afternoon I hope another walk and more time with SIL and family.

First off Joan that is amazing well done you must be thrilled and I'm sure you will look fantastic x

I was in bed by 9.30, this time next year things will be very different for us all, who would have known how much support a computer and a bunch of strangers could be to each other - thanks ladies x hope you all have a lovely day today x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning rosie! I totally echo your good wishes for all our lovely april ladies!! And all others too on this forum.
You did very well staying up for the new year!! I dozed on and off but was awake reading in bed being smothered by two terrified dogs as fireworks went off everywhere at midnight!

I had echo scan yesterday and although not told my exact score until i see onc in two weeks i was assured it was over 55, am going to try so hard this year not to fret, thats going to be easier said than done! But my lovely herceptin nurse when here for 2 hours on monday became a counsellor too for all my worries! And i realise that it is such a waste of energy and spoiling the times i could be enjoying😄

As rosie has said good health for 2015 and good luck with jobs- wildpurl and O/H , kirstie and lisa doing reduced weeks! Jackie on your return to work, cassie, hope you can rest before the onslaught of winter illnesses deluging the surgery!! Tij, hope your son continues to be settled in school and so envy a puppy🐶🐶! Certainly keep you fit!
Joan, you have such a lovely event to look forward too this year, what a fabulous start to 2015!

Hope to arrange a meet up with you all sometime this year too- when rosie is here of course!🍸😄

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hope you all had a good evening last night. We stayed at our sons house till 10.30 then went back to the Premier Inn so,DH could have a drink. We went to the bar but escaped with our drinks back to the room as it was full of very noisy revellers and I just could nt cope with it 2 days after Dads funeral. SIL had given us a bottle of sparkly so we opened that at midnight and put BIG Ben and the fireworks on the TV. I toasted all you wonderful ladies on our forum!🍸May we enjoy a much heather new year with less hospital visits and for those of us still undergoing treatment and surgery a much easier ride than last year.
Cassie I hope you enjoyed your time away and that work won't be so busy as you ease back in to it.
Lovewine hope all goes well for YS new job and that he settles quickly.
Tlj hope you and the family got back down the lanes safely this morning!
Wildpurl wishing you and your OH a less stressful time in the knowledge you both have employment!
Lisa hope you continue on part time until you feel ready to take on more. Kirstie hope you can reduce your work hours a little. Joan have you come back down to earth yet? Your family must be very proud of you!😑
Jackie hope you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year. How are your dogs getting on now? 🐶🐶
I hope to goodness I have remembered you all I only have 30 free mins each morning!!!!
2015 here we come we are ready for you!!! X

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Wow Joan fabulous news, congratulations. Do you know yet when you will be going to the palace? Does that mean you will get an invite to one of the summer garden parties as well?
Hope everybody has a good New Years eve. DH and I went to town today and I bought a long waterproof coat in preparation for dog walking. We are hoping to get her next week.
Tonight we are taking the boys to a friend's house for supper. There will be three families, we are all bringing something to eat. I was given the task of bringing canepes. I had good intentions of making them but I have to admit that I decided it was too fiddly, so went to Cook with my vouchers and bought some. All you have to do is bung them in the oven from the freezer.
We will stay until after midnight and then walk home, fortunately it's quite close by via the country lanes. Hoping the boys will think it is exciting to walk home in the dark.
Wishing you all a fun and relaxing new year. I will raise a glass to you all at midnight. Cheers to everyone and here's to a healthy 2015.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning everyone, yes I too will be thinking of us all as 2014 comes to a close, and hoping for us all to have a healthy and happy new year as we recover from treatment. I have in the distant past had a Scottish New Year, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but this year I think I am unlikely to still be up at midnight!

We have been very lucky here as OH's Dad likes to cook and normally has only himself to cook for, so he has been enjoying doing all the coking and we have just had to wash up and load the dishwasher, it is such a treat not to have to cook for everyone. We are having lazy mornings and then I hope more walking this afternoon and some more time with my SIL's family.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies. I have some good news to share, and I apologise because modesty should forbid me saying anything, but we have all shared the bad times and there have been precious few good bits. Anyway, long preamble but I can now tell you that I got an OBE in the New Years Honours list!! It's for to children, which very vague but since I was nominated by a children and family charity I think it's partly because of the research I have done and partly because of my involvement in an organisation trying to raise the profile of, and Improve services for, children being raised by members of their extended families. I was gobsmacked when I first heard. Now of course I'm obsessing about whether my hair/nails will have recovered by the time I go to the Palace, whether I can shed enough weight to get a decent outfit and whether I can manage a curtsey- and get up again afterwards!

Happy new year to you all.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone, lovely to hear from you kirstie, sorry you are struggling a little too, hopefully on your return to work you can ease off the workload a bit?
Joan, i thought the acting was very good too, i felt very sad for him at the end, played very well by benedict cumberpatch. Enjoy your quiet days, we are going over to son and DIL early tomorrow evening for light meal, DIL is chinese and cooks fabulous food- authentic cantonese so looking forward to it! We certainly wont be staying until midnight as wont stay awake!

Rosie, hope you are now in plymouth and can enjoy some quiet time with your son and family, you must be feeling emotionally drained after the funeral yesterday.

Wildpurl, what a lovely part of the country you have been travelling through, you certainly have covered some miles!! Enjoy your cullen skink- hope it doesnt stink( joans typo error!!) not sure what it is?

My dad is recovering ok at home now, returning twice a week to hospital to have warfarin levels monitored, still very underweight but at least we have him home now, feel concerned for my mum as she has carried all the worry and stress of both dad and myself and i feel she may crumble a little over following weeks, so i will be keeping an eye on her!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Rosie, I am glad your dads funeral went well, it sounds as if you did him proud with both you and your sister taking an active part. It can be so difficult to do but really makes a difference to the whole occasion I think. I hope you found it some comfort. After such an emotional few days it's good that you are not having to rush back to Cyprus immediately, hope you have an enjoyable time with your son and his family.

lovewine, yes, thanks I did enjoy the Imitation a Game, totally engrossing and really moving. Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant but really all the acting was top notch. I'm glad the Herceptin injection wasn't so painful this time but sorry that you are feeling low. It sounds as if several of us are struggling a bit, including me. But from what I've heard this is a very common experience at this stage. I keep thinking I have so much to be thankful for so why do I feel on the verge of tears so much of the time. And you are still having treatment so it must be harder to even begin to put it all behind you.

Wildpurl, hope you manage a relaxing few days after your visit packed journey northwards. Several of the places you mention-Morpeth, sea houses and wetherby-are very familiar to me, and I love Cullen stink.

Kirstie, glad you had a good Xmas and that your expanders are working out. How long will you be in hospital having the implants? Would it be feasible for you to reduce your hours at work for a while to give yourself more time to recover from everything you have been through?

Had a very disturbed night last night. My own fault, the meal I cooked for friends, although pretty good, clearly just had too much acid in it. On reflection it was a mistake to serve beetroot and avocado salad, followed by pork in cider and cider vinegar with spiced red cabbage and then lemon cheesecake! Especially since I suffer from acid reflux. My husband was ok though so hope our friends were.

Took granddaughter to the theatre this afternoon to see a Xmas production. Great fun. Have a couple of quiet days now. we've decided not to do anything for New Year, I'm just not in the mood to entertain and likely to be too tired to stay up anyway. And the friend who was coming to lunch on Friday has just cried off. So that's it until the weekend. If the weather is fine we might go down to Lyme Regis, if not see what's on at the cinema.

Hope everyone else enjoys the last few days of the holidays.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Everyone, glad to hear that your Christmas went well and I'm pleased yesterday went as well as could be expected Rosie it must have been tough xx

I too have had a lovely christmas we hit the credit cards and got whatever we wanted I'm sick of worrying about money and cancer so we though begger it and got we what wanted, my son got a drum kit and my husband a ps4 so they were both very happy too, and we had my parents and sister over for the first time ever and it was lovely. I have to say I feel very different when I'm at home to when I'm at work, if I am at home I am much better in myself but have no motivation to do much and if I'm at work it's so full on I find it hard to cope. I need to address the work thing as soon as my ops are finished. Rosie you mentioned that your expanders are still giving you grief, mine have got better and better as they have been infilled though they are still an odd shape, I've had 500ml in each now and am having the implants put in on the 19th Jan, I decided against the diep it's too much hassle. When are they doing yours?

I have been struggling too lovewine, I went to the docs and he gave me some pills but I have only taken 2 I'm seeing how I do whilst I'm not at work and I seem to be much better but that doesn't help much as I'm back at work on the 5th and have a 2 day course to be on - think its a case a case of doing too much - trying to run before I can walk we need to be gentle with our selfs for a bit longer xx

I hope everyone else is doing okay we have come such a long way I found my lump about this time last year we are all doing amazingly well x

Catch up soon x kirstie

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, rosie, I am glad your Dad's funeral went well and that you and your family were able to see him beforehand. I hope you enjoy your stay in Plymouth over the New Year with your youngest son and his family.

Lovewine, the engraving on the bracelets seems just right to me and I am glad your sons liked them. I'm sorry to hear you are having a "blip" and finding it difficult to move on. The end of a year does tend to bring thoughts of everything that has happened and looking into the future as well, and you still have a lot going on in the way of treatment, as does rosie, so I can understand that it is difficult to see your way forward. I am trying very hard to relax and let go of everything that I have been anxious about in the last few months of the year, as I think OH and I will both have jobs next year (not that a new job does not bring its own stresses! But I am not going to think about that until I get back to work).

We set off yesterday at 6:00am after getting up at 5:30am, drove for 3 hours to Wetherby where we had breakfast and coffee and a nice rest, then on to Morpeth to visit OH's aunt in hospital. She is 88, not really with it if I'm honest, and is in hospital because she has broken her hip, normally she is in a care home. I think she was pleased to see us, she certainly had a vague inkling who OH is and his youngest son, who was with us too, but kept asking him how his Mum was, who died in April (and the aunt was at the funeral).
After that we drove to Seahouses to visit O.H's uncle, 83, who is actually very with it and was looking well.
Finally we set off for Edinburgh and then across to Glasgow and the village where OH's Dad lives, arriving at about 6.30 pm and with fish and chips for tea. I was so tired after tea that I went to bed at 8pm and slept like a log till 8 this morning!
We are having Cullen skink for lunch, which sounds odd but which I really like, then off to OH's sister's this afternoon and hoping to take their dog for a walk. It's really cold here, warming up in that this morning it was 4°C instead of below 0!
Planning a peaceful time for the next few days before driving back on Friday.

Hope you are all enjoying some relaxing time in the run up to the New Year

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thank you ladies for you thoughts yesterday. It was a very sad day but everything went well the sun shone all day and it was a big support having all,the family. Dad was a very well thought of man he was intelligent, quiet , peace loving and very easy to,get on with. A number of the residents came from his Macarthy and Stone flats and were all sad at losing him as a neighbour. The vicar did us proud my sister managed to read out a tribute she had written about his life and I managed a Bible reading.Prior to the service I went to say goodbye to him in Chapel of rest with my sister and our oldest son who hadn't seen his grandad since last Christmas as he lives in France.
We will be making our way down to Plymouth today to spent some time with youngest son and family and will fly back to Cyprus on Jan3rd. Lovewine I am in your camp about finding it hard to move on and the tissue expanders have given me more grieve than usual. I think the more stressed I am the tighter they pull.
Good luck with you heart echo! X

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning all, rosie, i do hope yesterday went as well as these sad occasions can do, was thinking of you all day.
Had my herceptin at home again yesterday, wasnt too bad, not as painful this time. Heart scan tomorrow.
I seem to be having a major blip in the last few days regarding my mood😥 i think its the treatment and also have onc appointment coming up mid january too, nurse who did injection yesterday suggested seeing g,p to review anxiety medication, but she did reassure me its normal to feel like this! I do feel very negative and seem to be stuck with trying to move on, but dont seem able too! I am working a full day today so hoping that might help. Youngest son moves to london on friday and starts new job at Kings college on monday so think i am maybe feeling a little sad at him going away😟
Hope you all have good days, wildpurl, hope you have arrived safely in scotland. Joan, hope you enjoyed the film?,

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Joan glad you are enjoying some idle time! We mangaged most of the leftovers!
Arrived in midlands last night after detouring off M6 due to accidents and queuing! Very cold here today but at least dry! YS and family travelling up from Plymouth and DD and family stayed over in Wigan overnight where DH sister lives. We had to call in for a couple of hours en route yesterday.
Wildpurl have a safe trip to Scotland and enjoy the new year celebrations!🍸🍸
Hope your Herceptin goes well and the echo Lovewine. So glad your sons appreciated their bracelets it will always be special to them! Thank you ladies for your thoughts on this very sad day. We passed through Shrewsbury on the way to Ludlow ans I saw the sign to Shrewsbury Royal Infirmary and it gave me a little shudder - the place where Dad died!
Have a good day everyone .

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning all, lovely cold sunny day here too. I have been very idle last few days, mainly reading- lynda la plante thriller, watching t.v and valiantly eating leftovers!! Have my herceptin tomorrow and a echo heart scan on wednesday, so fretting about that!😧
Rosie, hope you have a safe journey down here to the midlands, i will be thinking of you on such a sad day.
Wildpurl, new year in scotland sounds lovely, a very long car journey though, not as bad when you are breaking it up visiting people on the way though! Enjoy your week off and time with family, what a difference to april when we were all having chemo😟
Joan, i really enjoyed the imitation game, hope you do too, we hope our next cinema visit will be next week sometime to see ' the theory of everything' which looks fascinating too.
Jackie, are you visiting your family further north over the holiday period? Hope you are having a nice time!
Cassie, tij, lisa, kirstie, enjoy the rest of the festivities🍷🍰😄

My two sons really liked their bracelets, i chose the words to be engraved quite simply" from mum 25/12/2014", as didnt want to be too sentimental , it was just right i think!

Getting the vacuum out now to wade through all the dog hairs🐶!
Once again safe journeys Rosie and wildpurl!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning! A beautiful crisp cold day here. I am planning to do some housework, although it is difficult to motivate myself, and am even considering going swimming, we'll see how that goes!

I have the next week off as well, and tomorrow morning we are setting off early to drive to Scotland, where we shall be spending the New Year with OH's family. We are going up the East coast to call in on some elderly relatives, one of whom is in hospital, then crossing from Edinburgh to the West coast, so a long day of driving. I am looking forward to seeing them all, though, the last time we met was at OH's Mum's funeral in April, in the middle of my second chemo cycle, just after quite a lot of my hair had fallen out.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Had a totally idle day yesterday: got up late, lazed on sofa reading a Henning Mankell thriller my husband gave me for Xmas, then watched the new Wallander we had slept through on Boxing Day evening. Today will be a bit more active: supermarket, a bit of cooking in preparation for friends coming to dinner tomorrow then out to local cinema to see The Imitation Game.

Rosie, I've had many a chilly walk on Tynemouth beach, and not just in winter. hope you managed to get through all those leftovers and that the snow doesn't make your journey to the Midlands too difficult. Glad the children and the games took your minds off things for a bit. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Lovewine, a most successful shop. I sympathise about the straggly hair round the ears, I keep having to trim mine with nail scissors. We don't have any snow here yet.

Wildpurl, you have been energetic. I'm impressed. Are you back to work tomorrow or have you got a few more days relaxation?

Hope everyone else is enjoying the break.

Morning ladies, I am at the gym waiting for my Pilates class to start. Yesterday we went for a walk in the morning then watched a movie in the afternoon. DS and DD are leaving late morning and my stepson is arriving this afternoon. I think a peaceful day but less eating LOL.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hope you all enjoyed Boxing Day the overeating and drinking by now are on the slippery slope! We have to eat all left overs here today as we are all travelling down to the midlands tomorrow in preparation for Dad's funeral.😥 the children have been a distraction and the Boxing Day games we played provided some amusement as well as arguments! Maybe out of contact with you for the next couple of days until we get to Plymouth!x

Morning ladies, had a lot of snow here last night, very festive! Hope all is well and you are enjoying the time spent with family. Having a quiet day here today, may walk to local hairdresser and get her to trim wispy bits around my ears, have short on top and long at sides so looks very unbalanced! Tij, i know you said yours wasnt growing very quickly, mine doesnt seem to be so much now, i did read in herceptin thread that hair growth is slower when on herceptin😁

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine, it's great that your dad got home and was able to share in the family celebrations. You are very brave to be heading to the sales. Hope you manage to get your jumper. The fudge sounds delicious, pity the technology isn't up to transmitting tastes over the Internet.

Wildpurl, I like the idea of your anti stress colouring book. Hope it continues to work. It'll be a lot cheaper than massage! Enjoy your walk. The weather here though is horrible, I shall be tucked up in front of the fire once our visitors go this afternoon.

Had a lovely day yesterday. Daughter cooked a beautiful meal and the children were on top form. Katy was delighted with her Princess Anna dress and doll (from Frozen) and Fergus sat on his tractor virtually all day. Only downside was that said daughter retired to bed having thrown up. Fortunately she was the only one to do so so I think it was tiredness, having been up since 4 with younger child, and probably the stress of doing lunch.

TiJ. Yes, as you say, the timing of our treatments worked out very well for Xmas (if not for much else).

Rosie, glad you had a good day. Hope the next few days are not too stressful.

Enjoy your Boxing Days everyone, whatever you are doing.
