Good morning all,
Well, first of all, rosie, I read your posts yesterday but was very busy and did not have time to reply. I am gutted on your behalf that you are having to have the left expander removed, but I know my surgeon said that sometimes this is the best option for the person, to allow healing, and then they can complete the reconstruction when everything has settled down. TBH if it were me I would want the right one left in as there is no problem with it. Do you have a breast form that you can use on the left side while waiting for the final implant? You must feel as though it is one step forward two steps back at the moment, but I think that it is very likely you will be able to proceed as planned with the reconstruction once you have healed. Your body obviously does not like these expanders! I think you are at the hairdresser now so sending hugs and good wishes for the implant removal.
Speaking of hairdressers, to answer your question, Joan, the lady who cuts my hair is partly paid by the NHS and operates from the cancer centre at the hospital, which is a charity. She is Trevor Sorbie trained in how to look after hair during and after chemo, cutting for re growth and she also provides wigs and wig cutting. The key thing I think is that she trims the ends of the longest hair and gets rid of the fluffy bits, she doesn't cut it all back to the length of the shortest hair but somehow evens it all up over time. This time she told me that although my hair looks pretty normal now, I still have new growth starting and it is going to be really thick! You seem to have lots of energy and be doing many activities, which is really good to hear.
Lovewine, hang in there, OH will improve! Maybe you need an outing on your own or with a friend? My OH is working late again today and going in on Saturday. He is so grumpy that strangulation is a definite possibility over the weekend...
Cassie, your weekend sounds very productive and enjoyable, the wedding is making good progress by the sound of it
Lisa, you sound on good form, a trip to New York at Easter is very exciting! I am also still working 4 days a week and feel no inclination at all to go back to full time, I love having Fridays to myself. We have started thinking about vegetables for this year and will need to do a detailed plan soon as I will be sowing seeds in a couple of weeks.
Tlj, nice to hear from you. The one year anniversary brings back a lot of memories but it is also an important milestone in getting and remaining well, it is good to celebrate that
It actually snowed here yesterday late afternoon, big rush to leave work and gridlock around my workplace, the snow has largely melted now but it is still cold and more may be on the way. I feel as if I have a mini cold again, most annoying. Will try to go for a swim and sauna, also have banana cake and pumpkin and ginger soup to make plus the usual knitting and crocheting. I have almost finished my socks.
Good days everyone
