Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi ladies,
Sorry I haven't been on the thread lately, don't quite know where the time has gone. It seems like all the men in our lives are having troubles. I hope they all are on the mend now, whether it's fathers, sons or husbands.
Rosie I can't believe you have had so many radiotherapy treatments already. You must be beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
My son seems to be ok at school, although it's hard to tell because he's not being very communicative. I'm hoping no news is good news. Younger son was in an inter schools general knowledge quiz yesterday. It was all set up just like university challenge with buzzers. His team were runners up in the final, so I was really proud of him.
I've got herceptin number 8 tomorrow and surgery on Thursday to have my implant port removed. So still filling my week with hospital appointments! Hair still resembles Wayne Rooney pre hair transplant. I think it will be Christmas before I could consider going without some headgear.
Hope everyone is having a relaxing evening.

Wildpurl, how exciting, what a prestigious event, have a lovely evening, at least you have Friday off to recover! My lovely daughter in law is a scientist so I think it's really important that more women join these professions, you are obviously highly thought of in your work- enjoy it! Sure you will look very elegant too!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I had been diagnosed in the summer and put on hormones while we waited for the results of the genetic tests. At Christmas I knew I was having surgery in January but did not know I would be having chemo!
It's hard to believe what we have all lived through this year.

You are getting through the rads Rosie, the end is in sight now.
Joan, re the partial breast form, although my surgery was different from yours, when the implant had been inflated for the first time I had a partial breast form to replace my softie, I found it comfortable to wear and it looked fine. I think it could be a good solution for you even if you have a reconstruction in the long term.

On Thursday this week I have been given a ticket through work to attend the Women into Science and Engineering (WISE) awards, which take place at a hotel in London. There is a dinner and HRH Princess Anne is presenting the awards. There are a few people going from my company and I know some of them but have not met all of them before. There were some spare tickets and a girl I worked with years ago suggested my name for one of them, which was kind of her!
I will be going by train on Thursday afternoon and will get back quite late, but luckily do not have to get up early the following day 🙂

16 down Lovewine 12 to go!!!!
Glad your dad's procedure is over I am sure your mum and sister will update you.
I don't think much about Christmas until December. To me it is a time for being with family and avoiding eating too much but enjoying a few drinks!!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening ladies, Rosie, hope your sisters update isn't too bad tonight, yes it's a real worry when family members are so poorly. I sympathise with your nausea on the bus,I get travel sick some times, definitely would on a bus with loud music!! Not many left to go now- you are whizzing through them now! My dad's procedure wasn't until late this afternoon so I am not visiting to tonight- just my mum I think and my sister, they are still worried about me and my doing too much!
I must say I cannot even think about Christmas at the moment, can't be bothered, fed up already with the bloody adverts on t.v especially the supermarket ones!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon Ladies!
Wildpurl, your farmers market sounds wonderful what a lovely selection of goods!
Lovewine you are right it is such a stress having dad so ill it's all I can think about with the exception of tissue expanders!!!!!
I am sky ping with my sister tonight so will get today's update. Our youngest son from Plymouth is going to try to visit him at the weekend. It's quite a journey for them to Church Stretton.
Hope your dad's second procedure went well today. It's all hospital appointments for your family Lovewine this week. Hope your herceptin time and your hubby's scan are not the same time maybe you can do both?
Have a good afternoon everyone. Jackie I hope your rads are going well?
I felt rather nauseous on the bus coming home don't know whether it's radiotherapy effects of the drivers CD 's that he sing along to loudly!!!! I took my I pod and headphones today but I could still hear the CD's!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies, just off to walk my dogs and then to work! My dad has a second procedure on another blocked artery in his leg today, will probably visit him later this evening, so have a very busy day! Still find energy levels are nowhere back to pre cancer days- how are you all finding yours? Am still waiting for a phone call from specialist nurse to arrange time for herceptin on Thursday too! My hubby has his appt for his scan on Thursday too for his gall bladder problems- wanted to go with him but doesn't look possible now!
Have a good day everyone.

Yes I hope he meets a nice girl soon Rosie, I feel so sad for him😥 just over 2 weeks until you can fly to see your dad, really hope you can see him, really sorry he is so poorly though.how stressful for you after all the Sh.t of this year.
Wildpurl, we have a monthly farmers market too, really nice produce, sounds similar to yours, have very nice venison burgers too!

Glad your dad's surgery has gone well Lovewine and hope outcome is favourable. Indeed a little oasis of calm which we desperately needed. Dad is having morphine, oxygen , steroids and antibiotics! I have tonight booked a flight to Manchester the night I finish radio therapy Thursday 27th to Sunday 30 th so I just hope he can hang on!
Your son deserves a much nicer girl who will commit to him as much as he to her! Hopefully he will meet her before too long!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening all, glad your Dad's op went well Lovewine. What a charmer your son's ex-girlfriend is - not! He will get over it in time, but I remember going through this with my son and it is very hard not really being able to comfort them.

Rosie, glad you had a nice weekend. I enjoyed lunch with my aunt and did manage to get my nails done! Our Farmers market has vegetables, organic fish and meat, a bakery or two, eggs, cakes, chocolate, beeswax candles, jewellery, plants and herbs, game, all sorts really. We get our eggs there every month and sometimes we treat ourselves to something nice, this week we got gournet sausage rolls for lunch. They were yummy.

Joan I am sorry to hear you are still having problems with your nails. Have you tried a nail strengthener? I am using one called miracle cure from Sally Hansen and it seems to be helping.

Evening everyone, dad's surgery appears to have gone ok, just have to wait and see if blood reaches the foot and pulse returns.
Rosie, so glad you had a nice weekend, a little oasis of calm in another busy week for you! Have you any more news on your dad?
My youngest son has returned from Rome, he has had a nice trip but still heartbroken, girlfriend rang him on his return and said she preferred it when he was away as he was giving her anxiety attacks!! They have finally ended the relationship for good and he is devastated, this morning he asked me to delay going to work as he just wanted to talk to me, he's almost like a little boy again wanting reassurance, but it's hard not being able to make things better like when they were small!

Good afternoon everyone well we had a lovely relaxing weekend with some excellent food and wine! DH took me to oncology centre this morning and we ewere back home by 11.30am and I have been out to supermarket and got a few essentials! DH going to school now!
Lovewine I hope your dads operation went well and that he makes a good recovery.
Joan I am sorry to hear you are still not having any luck in the nail department! Hope all goes well with your appointment today with the breast nurse. Hope everyone else is ok?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie, I didn't realise that family members could act as proxies. What a wonderful idea.

Lovewine, it does seem a rather wasteful use of NHS time. I suppose someone has costed it out. I hope the nurse is someone you take to otherwise it could be very awkward. I'm really disappointed that Even the new nails on my right hand which looked as if they might grow normally are very soft and the growing tips are just peeling off. Aargh!

I have an appt with a breast care nurse tomorrow to measure me for a partial falsie to make me look less uneven when dressed. Has anyone else gone down this road? I'm still thinking in terms of reconstruction but at least this might mean I can wear less loose fitting clothes.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone- cassie, at least the weather is dry for the remembrance service- am watching it on t.v and find it very moving every year.
Wildpurl, enjoy your lunch! My nails are still pretty rubbish, the herceptin makes them flake and break, hope it's sunny for you too down in Lewes!
Rosie, hope you are having a relaxing weekend, yes it does seem odd doesn't it paying a specialist herceptin nurse to sit talking on my sofa for 2 hours! I was told by onc at last appointment this is done this way so as to free up chemo nurses and space at hospital! They are trained herceptin nurses and carry all equipment, drugs etc in case there is a problem- I had the first two in chemo ward and remainder will be given at home.
You are right I can plan life around the 3 weekly injections if I have the " book" !!
Joan, hope you enjoyed the theatre, are you having a quiet day today?
Tij, hole your son returned to school ok without too many problems, Lisa hope work isn't too tiring for you?
Kirstie, Jackie, tulamo hope your weekends are going well.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie glad you had an enjoyable lunch and mouth around shops. You need to take advantage of time out it sounds like you are very busy.
I am sure your brother will march with pride this morning do hope it is dry for him.
Lovewine that does seem like a strange procedure to pay a nurse for 2 hours to stay at your home! Having the booklet you will at least know when the shots are and can plan your life around the dates!
Wildpurl hope you have a good lunch with your favourite aunt! Hope you managed to get your nails done.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies, Lovewine I completely understand how you feel about getting a Herceptin book and the disruption caused by having a nurse hanging around for two hours after you have had the injection. Maybe that will only be for the first few until they are sure you will not have a reaction?

Cassie, your family obviously depends heavily on you. I think you are right, I have always supported myself and my children financially and deciding to reduce my working hours is a radical decision for me! I enjoyed my first Friday and I find it much easier to cope with four days working and three days off. It almost seems too good to be true, I think.

Today OH and I are driving to Lewes to have lunch with my favourite aunt. Want to get my nails done before I go so better get moving.
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday's.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone, cassie, your day sounds very nice, did you buy anything at the shops? Must be very tempting! Does sound like you have many roles in your life- you are obviously a strong person to juggle all of the demands of work and family for many years .
I visited dad in the hospital again, he seems quite upbeat, although reluctant to see life any further in the future than a couple of days- we can all relate to that feeling!!
I received in the post today my treatment details for rest of my herceptin treatment which is to be given at home by a specialist nurse- not sure if anyone else has experience of this? It has made me feel a bit fed up actually- shouldn't moan as I know how very lucky we are to have such an expensive drug- but it's making me still feel like a " cancer patient" as I have been given a record book just like the chemo book! And the nurse has to stay at my house for 2 hours after injection too- I need to go to bloody work and what am I going to do sat there for 2 hours making small talk! SORRY MOAN ALERT!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello Ladies,

I hope the weekend is being relaxing if the weather is not good. I am just back from a walk in the local park with my work friend and her little dog it felt like autumn today blowing a gale and constant drizzle.

After popping her little dog home we went for a lovely lunch with a glass of wine and a potter around the shops in Muswell Hill.

I know exactly what you mean Rosie about feeling like you are skiving off, when you have actually been through and are still going through so much, us ladies need to learn not to be so hard on ourselves. I am the last one to speak though as I have not had a husband for some 25 years plus now it means I am the family social worker and also at work its the same, I have worked for the same employer for 20 years this Dec so I am like part of the furniture and people do put a lot on to you when you are usually efficient and productive.

Sorry to hear your Dad's are not doing so well at the moment, I hope they are feeling better soon.

My younger brother is marching tomorrow at the remeberance ceremony, my Dad always went right up until his last year, bless him, he was part of the HMS Amythyst convoy on The Black Swan which was part of the Yangtse incident, there are not many of the members left now that are able to take part, therefore they ask if thier children will wear the medals and take part for them. I have marched once myself when one year my brother had the flu, it felt strange but I felt very proud to be allowed to take part with my father and grandfathers medals on from world war I and II. I will sky plus it this year, it is emotional and coincidentally also would have been my mothers birthday 11th Nov.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I agree with Lovewine and Joan, Wildpurl you shouldn't feel, guilty for reducing your working hours you owe it to yourself and also we forget how tired we get. What sort of things do they sell at the farmers market?
Joan you are right with me possibly having to make the hat trick! I flew after 2 chemos on day 5 of the second cycle. The worst one has got to be just over 2 weeks after surgery!!! I am now half way through rads had 14 now! Hope you enjoyed the theatre.I find it a big effort to get ready to go out still.
Lovewine hope your dad's water infection is clearing up. I have had no further updates from my sister so won't know how dad is until tonight or tomorrow morning. Our phones don't work in the North so,have to rely on email and the signal strength is variable. There is no internet in dad's home so she has to wait until she gets home.
Hope it stops raining for,you all tomorrow, and you can get your gardening and washing done.
Have a good evening everyone.
Lisa and Jackie hope you are both ok?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi everyone, you really shouldn't feel guilty Wildpurl for working part time! You have a very demanding job and are still recovering from harsh treatment! It's pouring with rain here today and miserable- no gardening, so visiting dad and then food shopping for me- still wading through dirty washing too!
I can't get motivated either for Christmas, but then I don't like it very much anyway-even less so this year!
Joan, my skin held up really well all through rads, it wasn't until about 7 days after that it started to become very itchy and red, will pick up some E45 itch cream later.i know what you mean about just wanting to stay in front of fire with a good book, sometimes even the nicest trips out are an effort particularly in the bad weather.
Kirstie, hope you are celebrating your good news! You must feel relieved.
Love to everyone, enjoy your weekends!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Kirstie, that's brilliant news. Are you still getting the cramps though?

Wildpurl, I'm not surprised you feel guilty about working part time; it's such a big step. But you are dong it for good reasons; I think you should congratulate yourself on having the courage to do it. I'm a bit switched off from Xmas too; bought all the ingredients for the cake and the pud but rather putting off actually making them.

Lovewine, sorry you are still red and itchy. Have you tried e45 itch relief cream? I have a red patch underneath the breast which is sometimes a bit sore and itchy but the combination go the gel they gave me at the hospital and the stick on foam pad seems to be helping. But very aware that your skin didn't get bad for some time so it's early days. Good you were able to see your dad, hope all goes well with his treatment over the next few days.

Rosie, sorry the news about your dad is so worrying. And what a shame you will not have a chance to get over the radiotherapy before having to face the flight. But you've done it after chemo and then surgery, I guess you have to make the hat trick.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. I it's grey ad very wet here. Just about to venture out to lunch and the theatre in Bath. Part of me wishes I could just curl up with a book in front of a fire (which we lit for the first time this autumn yesterday)

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thinking of you both and of your Dads, hope all goes well with the op, Lovewine, and that your Dad feels better soon rosie.
I enjoyed my day off yesterday but bizarrely I am now feeling guilty about working part time. I've never done it before, and it feels as if I am skiving off work, even though of course it is all agreed. When I had time off for chemo I was actually feeling terrible and could not work, but now I feel fine so I feel as if I'm being lazy. Weird huh? I'm sure I shall get over it.
Well, off to the gym this morning, then to the Farmers Market and then either gardening or housework depending on the weather. Maybe both!

I started making a Christmas list last week but haven't got very far and can't motivate myself to get on with Christmas at the moment, which is odd because I love Christmas usually. Oh well, there is still time!

Enjoy your weekends, ladies

Hope you can enjoy your few days away before rads again next week! My skin is very red and itchy still-am just troweling on the E45 cream! Thinking of you and our dads. X

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies found a connection on the terrace. Kirstie I missed your news about the scan that's great news😄
Just picked up an email from my sister to say dad wasn't too good yesterday and didn't feel like getting dressed he ate only soup and had drinks. Doctor has given him liquid morphine as he had chest pains! I have told my sister to tell him it hang on for me on Nov 28th will now have to make this trip after rads finish on 27th!!!
Lovewine hope you found your dad in good spirits it's not much fun is it with dads at the moment hope he will be recovered by Monday for operation to take place!
Drank rather too much wine last night will go easy tonight. Slept quite well considering out twice but stayed in bed till 6.30am.
Hope you all enjoy your weekends.Wildpurl sounds like you are managing to take things a bit easier. Joan hope all is well with you and Cassie and Tlj also!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Afternoon ladies, just arrived home about lunchtime, had a lovely break, just what we needed! Dad has been moved to the vascular ward and I think he may be operated on today, just waiting for news, hopefully can visit him tonight or tomorrow, he has got a blocked aorta and also a blockage in the vein behind the knee which is what's causing the problems.
Rosie, at least your dad knows you have been ill, your sister must have been very diplomatic with him, I really hope you can get to see him when you have finished rads. Regarding the echo heart scan , when I had mine just before herceptin it was 61, this didn't really mean much to me- have to have another one in December.
What a thoughtless person that lady was, I have never been asked what the future holds by family or friends but a few weeks ago an acquaintance asked me what my prognosis was!! I was lost for words and just glad my O/H wasn't there as he isn't so tolerant as I am! Your oncologist knows best and your prognosis sounds pretty damn good to me!😀
Joan, I have not asked my prognosis either and oncologist/ surgeon hasn't said anything- I would rather not know to be honest, you can ask for the onco diagnostic test and they programme all your details into computer and get the answer!!
Wildpurl, your day off sounds like my kind of day- pottering around pleasing yourself- enjoy it, you certainly deserve it.
Because youngest son is still in Rome we have returned home to a tidy house, just as we left it, instead of untidy and him doing his best to have " cleaned" up his mess! So waiting to hear about dad, wading through dirty washing and missing the sound of the sea and the oyster catchers already!😢

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning, I am enjoying a leisurely morning with coffee in bed and a relaxing breakfast. I've got a bit of pottering round the house to do then plan to walk to the Drs surgery to get my repeat Tamoxifen prescription. My car is being serviced so this is an opportunity for a pleasant 4 mile round trip walk.

After that I plan some knitting and this afternoon will be doing the weekly shop at Sainsburys. So nothing very exciting but that's kind of the idea!

Joan, I was told by my oncologist that having the chemo resulted in 5 more people out of 100 with my situation surviving at least 10 years. He also said that my chances were good even without the chemo. I don't want to know any details of % so I didn't ask!

Enjoy the last day of your break Lovewine, and hope everyone else has good days.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Rosie, what an incredibly thoughtless woman. What did she think she was doing. It must have been a great relief to have such a positive prognosis from your oncologist. I'm not sure I want to ask mine; what are other ladies dong about that? It's a pity there is going to be further delay on the Herceptin and that you have to have yet another test but you don't want to take any unnecessary risks with your heart. It's good that your dad now knows that you have been ill and that is why you can't come to see him immediately. Your sister must have handled the telling pretty well for him not to have been unduly distressed. I hope you can manage to get to see him before too long.

Lovewine, sorry that you too are having worries about your dad. Have you had any further news eg when they are going to operate. Inevitably this will have cast a pall over your holiday but I hope you managed to enjoy your activities today.

Cassie, hope you enjoyed your massage. What a shame about your biopsy results. January seems a very long time to be in limbo. I'm sorry you are feeling so decrepit, the physi appt seems a very good idea, hope it helps. While I don't have much in the way of aches and pains I feel desperately unfit; need to get going on some kind of exercise programme.

Wildpurl, your job sounds very prestigious, and demanding. No wonder you found full time too much.

Kirstie, glad you are feeling more comfortable.

Hope everyone else doing ok.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening all, Lovewine I'm sorry you have been having worries about your Dad. It sounds as if he is in good hands.
Rosie, that was rather a thoughtless statement by the lady you met! Not surprised your DH was not amused. It's a nuisance having to have another echo but worth it if it will mean you are allowed to start Herceptin.
It is good your sister has found an opportunity to tell your Dad you have been ill without alarming him, but I'm sorry to hear he is sounding so weak. I can understand why you would plan to go and see him as soon as you are able to go away for a long weekend.

Cassie, totally agree with you about wanting to know the answer and not just leaving things. I hope you find a yoga class, it is really relaxing and should help with mobility and stiffness as well. Sometimes there are local teachers who do very good smaller classes, maybe you can find one near you.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Glad you enjoyed your massage Joan well the after effects anyway. I am not really keen on treatments but I know they are beneficial after you have the feel good factor! Hope, you remembered to,get a new battery for the smoke alarm!
The evening was good thank you the wine glasses kept getting filled up I had to move mine in the end! Also there was a lady there that had done a course in Cancer she had I BC herself a few years ago. When she found out I was stage 3 she told me I would have 5-10 years to go! DH was not amused! I asked the oncologist today and he said your have a 90% chance of full recovery! He wanted to see me about the delay of Herceptin due to my heart rate having recovered to only 50 - 55 is the cut off. So he wants me to have yet another heart echo! I asked him about my sore finger and nail and he has given me some cream.
Kirstie that's a big infill I only had 50 mls a time ! I am so thankful that you aren't experiencing the awful discomfort I am!
Hope all went well with your scan and it is not your ovaries!
Wildpurl glad you enjoyed your body balance class and enjoy your three day weekend!
Lovewine I am sure your dad would want you to enjoy the rest of your holiday and he is in the best place to get the treatment he needs.
My dad said it would be nice to see me so my sister told him I had been ill since March and was undergoing treatment so couldn't come at the moment. She didn't use the c word but emphasised that I was ok! He was glad she had told him. I spoke to him on the phone and he sounded very weak. DH and I are going to try to fly back when I finish rads for a long weekend as we are not sure he will make Christmas!
Cassie how infuriating about your results having to wait until January I do feel for you! Hope you manage to find a suitable yoga class it will help you feel calmer!!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello Ladies,

Just a quick catch up today as I will have to leave shorly for my massage.

Rosie, I hope the consultant had a good reason for ringing you it is always such a worry.

Lovewine I am jealous of your lovely walks on the beach and pub meal yum, I know I have only just come back from Devon but it is soon in the past when you go to work each day.

I am hoping to start a yoga class locally I will see if its any good, I don't fancy going to the local sports centre as I have in the past the classes are too large and I don't think that they would be able to give the attention needed, I feel rather decrepit these days with the aches and pains and tiredness. and tight veins which by the way seem to be getting worse rather than better, I have a physio appointment booked for the 26th hopefully that will do some good. I have had a reply from the endocrinologist regarding my histology at last, apparently they did not take enough fluid to get any diagnosis! I have to wait until my next appointment in Jan to have a discussion about where do we go from here another biopsy or wait and see approach?

I will plump for another biopsy if I can, I hate the feeling of unfinished business and not knowing.

Must run hope you have a good day Cassie

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies, a cold but lovely day here in north yorks- think a beach walk and a potter around the jewellery shops in Whitby today.
Have had worrying news yesterday from mum and sister back home- dad has been admitted to hospital with no pulse in his foot, had scans yesterday and will have to have surgery behind the knee to sort out a blockage, because he has heart problems too this is very risky- so very worried altho mum and sister trying to reassure me!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good evening, I am just back from Body Balance which was relaxing and energising as always. only one more day to work and then it's my weekend, woohoo!
Joan, I am head of the systems engineering department on my site at the moment.
I used to have Shiatsu massage once a month from a lady who came to the house, I found it very relaxing and balancing. Maybe I should have some sessions, I could get free sessions at the Fountain Centre at the hospital.
Kirstie I am taking tamoxifen and have sometimes had backache after taking it, similar to the GCSF injections, but this has now stopped. I am sure your cramps will be a side effect of your tablets but they are obliged to check things just to be sure.
Lovewine, your holiday sounds lovely, I am glad you are enjoying it!
Rosie, I hope the onc has news for you about the Herceptin.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi everyone,

Gosh working takes up far too much of my time ! That and doctors appointments lol

the expanders are one he put in 150ml in each one on the first fill I was surprised but it's so much more comfortable now I can actually sleep on my side comfortably - well one side anyway so that's great. I have to go for a internal scan tomorrow to check my ovaries I was having cramps, I think it's the tablets but what do I know has anyone else has any scans I haven't had any through this whole process.

Wildpurl hope your pleased with your cv the only way to go is to sell yourself big time ;0) just tell them all you are awesome.

Rosie, every day is one day closer to the end x you must be shattered x

Joan I hope you are enjoying your plans I do miss having a massage but I can't lie on my front yet x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Wildpurl, that all sounds very hopeful. Good luck with your CV. What is it you do at the moment?

Lovewine, are you using any cream to help with the soreness? I hope your skin starts to recover soon. I love the idea of you doing a cliff 'sell'. Did you have a stall, or a mobile trolley or those trays cinema usherette's used to have. But well done for walking 8 miles.

Rosie, have a lovely evening at the launch.

My shiatsu massage was an interesting experience. I really had no idea what to expect, all I'd been told was that it was like massage but you kept your clothes on. And I hadn't expected it to be a man. But it was rather good. He explained that it uses the acupuncture pressure points so there was rather more pushing and pulling than with regular massage. It was a bit new agey- though no candles and bells only at the end- he periodically asked me how my body was responding which flummoxed me a bit, but I came awY feeling really good and energised, which was unexpected because I'd had a very poor nights sleep, topped off at 4.30 by the smoke alarm bleeping because the battery was low! I can have 6 more sessions although unfortunately because he is very booked up my next one isn't until December.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies!
Wildpurl that sounds very positive good luck with the CV!
Lovewine you sound as if you are really enjoying your Yorkshire trip!
The lady I met picks me up,at the bottom of the road and takes me to Paphos so that I don't have to drive. We both still make the bus journey. I took my I pod today and listened to Coldplay and Neil Diamond I couldn't stand any more of the snake charming music!
The oncologist phoned me when I was on the way back and I lost his call. He sent me a text asking me to go and see him in the chemo outpatients tomorrow. Now what does he want? Hopefully it will be to do with the herceptin!
Some parents from school have a travel company and we are Invited to the launch of the new cruise brochure tonight!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, great to catch up on all the news!
Wild purl all the best with your c.v and definitely blow your own trumpet! Hope all goes well.
Rosie, much easier for you having a lift to rads now than the bus! When are you starting herceptin- think you said after rads? Hope you are not too sore, but it is very tiring with travelling every day.
Joan, well done for finishing! I am more sore a week on than when doing treatment! You sound like you have a busy few days coming up- that's great, enjoy them! And my curry in pub was served on a massive naan bread with salad! Very nice but had to use knife to cut thro bread almost like a curried pizza! But delicious!
Jackie, hope your rads go smoothly- are you having 15? And when we arrived on Monday there were quite a few goths and wonderful people in Victorian full dress- fabulous! We have been up to Whitby many times ( we are actually staying in robinhoods bay) and have been once for goth week( we are not goths!!!),
Tij, am sure your son will settle in soon, it is a big thing going away to school - he obviously is a clever boy! I have found on herceptin I have lost my appetite, but know ladies on tamoxifen that find they gain weight.
Cassie, Lisa, tulamo, hope your week is going ok!
Kirstie, how did expanders go? Not too uncomfortable I hope.
Well yesterday we did a fabulous cliff sell and then back along a old disused railway it was 8 miles! Very pleased with myself, couldn't manage the pub in evening so we had scrambled eggs wine and whiskey!
I love North Yorkshire and always have- really love the wildness of the moors and the rugged coastline and robinhoods bay which we have stayed in for years now is lovely- just like stepping back in time a century ago or more!!
Think we may drive up to goathland today( otherwise known as Adensfield of heartbeat fame!). Take care everyone x
