Joan, that's great news no further surgery needed! You must be so relieved. Yes my visitors were a welcome distraction, I will just be relieved now to get it over with .
Rosie, hope you enjoyed your quiet day, it's nice to be ordering things for school, it makes you feel useful and part of things! Good luck tomorrow.
Jackie, hope you got on ok today? Will be nice to see your son after his trip.
Well, am trying to rein in my panic about tomorrow and succeeding so far, don't know if it will last long though!!
Wildpurl, hope you coped with the excitement of tesco!! A change now and again is good!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Big relief, got the results of the tests not the tumours they removed and they did get clear margins so no need for further surgery. I feel very lucky and also quite surprised. Only slightly worrying thing is that they found a third tumour in the bits they removed, which hadn't shown up on any of the scans, but they are confident they got all of that out too. They are waiting for the Herceotin results on that one but since that was negative on the other two I doubt this will be any different.I have an appt with the oncologist a week on Monday to plan the radiotherapy, which I am hoping I will be able to delay until we come back from Barcelona. Just been looking into insurance and it wasn't as costly as e had expected.

Jackie, hope the pre op went well.

Lovewine, hope having your visitors not too exhausting and that they provided som distraction.

Wildpurl, 95% is an incredible difference. As you say, a no brainer. Hope you manage to cope with the excitement of Tescos!

Rosie, glad you are now pleased with your eyebrows. How wonderful to have got to that point.

Tulamo, welcome to the thread, I'm glad you have found it helpful. It has been a lifeline to me. Hope your side effects on TAX have not been too bad.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Lovewine hope that you don't find your visitors too stressful to deal with. It must be very hard for your parents you will always be their child! Will be thinking of you tomorrow! X
Wildpurl I am having a quiet day at home today and have been ordering some books online needed for school. This afternoon a friend came to see me she is having a shoulder op on Monday so was picking my brains how to manage dressing and washing etc!
Glad the sun is shining and you were able to get out for a walk at lunchtime! Now Tesco I like shopping in there! Our supermarkets aren't as big here and there isn't the variety!
Hope the rest of you are having good days?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Tulamo, welcome to the thread. I was quite anxious about the switch from FEC to Tax, but in the end it was not as bad as I had feared and I preferred Tax to FEC. I hope you are getting through chemo OK.

I'm at work today, the sun is actually shining and it was quite warm when I went out for my lunchtime walk. This evening is grocery shopping evening and we are considering going to Tescos instead of Sainsburys LOL, yes my life is that exciting.

Hope your day is OK Lovewine and you are not feeling too stressed. Rosie, how is your day and how are you feeling now?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, Jackie, good luck with pre op assessment today, it's not too bad, just a lot of waiting about!! Agree we should be wheeled in to operating theatre together for moral support! I am like you- getting very worked up now!
Rosie, thankyou for your encouragement, just want it over with now- yes I am working this morning, have a selection of family and friends dropping in later too- I know they mean well, but it's just adding to my worked upness( no such word!!) especially my poor mum and dad who are so worried it transfers to me! Hope you are not too tired tomorrow with your trip again to Limassol.
Jos, hope you are ok? Deep in my addled brain I think you have had or about to have your surgery? If so hope everything is going well.
Wildpurl, agree if you are happy with your surgeon it's worth waiting for your reconstruction and further surgery and yes 95% is a no brainer! Have a good day whatever you are doing!
Tulamo, welcome to the thread- I also find it very helpful to read other monthly threads to see further down the line! Thankyou for your encouragement regarding surgery! I hope you are coping well with chemo etc and you are getting stronger?
Gave a good day everyone!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone,
Just got back from a mexican and the cinema - the inbetweeners!

Rosie - you have had a busy day. That is a trip and a half to Limassol and back - hopefully that will make you sleep well tonight. How did the eye brows turn out?
Joan - will be thinking about you tomorrow. Hope you have great results x x. Bad news about the cakes - put that place on the blacklist!!
Lovewine - glad your test was positive today. I'm getting very worked up now. We should be able to be wheeled into the op theatre together holding hands on our trolleys for support and a glass of wine in the other!!
Wildpurl - 95% is a great figure. So as you say, a no brainer. I agree, a good surgeon is worth waiting for.
Hello tulamo - thank you for dropping in. I follow other threads too for the same reasons! How is the TAX treating you? Well I hope. Thank you for your encouraging words re surgery - Lovewine and I are quite concerned!

I have my pre-surgery assessment tomorrow and will have to be extra brave as am going in my own! OH has to go to london to pick Oliver up and won't get back in time. I've been told that the worst will be a blood test, so I've got my cream at the ready! Love to all x x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello ladies,

Sorry to but in on your thread I started chemo in June but started reading your thread some weeks ago to see how you transitioned from fec to tax. Have been hooked on your thread ever since feel like I know you all  !

Anyway just wanted to post to the ladies who are worried about surgery in next few days, I had mastectomy last year , DIEP reconstruction in March this year when they found more cancer so had ANC 6 weeks after recon.

The mastectomy was the most straightforward and believe me a total doddle compared to all you have gone through with chemo.. I only took paracetamol for a couple of days for pain relief  and at least every day that passes you are healing and getting stronger (with no return visit in 21 days.!!)

Hope all goes well and thankyou to all you lovely ladies on here you are an inspiration

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Glad your echo was OK Lovewine and you can have Herceptin. The surgeon seems to like to wait at least three months between fills "to let things settle". I did ask how long the waiting list was and she said "it varies", so no info there! However she is a very good surgeon and her results are very good, so I guess I will probably wait.
Joan, when I found out I was BRCA2 I joined a group on Facebook. Many ladies there have bilateral Mx and are very matter of fact and indeed positive about it and about the peace of mind they get from the risk reducing surgery. I could not face having both done at once, but I have always intended to have Mx on the other breast. It reduces my risk of further primaries by 95% which is a no brainer really.

Rosie I think it is great you have had a busy day, and I hope the eyebrows are looking good! It's a pity you have such a long journey to Limassol though, it must be very tiring.

Your new shoes do sound gorgeous Jackie!

Cassie I am glad your radiotherapy seems to be going well.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Sending you positive thoughts Joan for your results tomorrow! Hope sister in law copes as well as can be expected with funeral etc, sounds like a nice visit to NT today even if cake disappointing!
Rosie, sounds like a busy day for you, and again on Friday! How are your eyebrows looking now? Are you all glamorous with newly shaped brows!
My heart scan was ok thankfully, so hope to start on herceptin soon, didn't have to wait too long either!
Cassie, cake sounds very nice! Shame it was such a wet day , but you seemed to have a nice day anyway, good luck either rest of rads and hope your other appointment went ok too?
Jackie, your shoes sound lovely, don't blame you for wanting a designer shoe collection! I am more of a handbag girl myself and have a particular weakness for knitwear too! I was very nervous again before my appt!! I never get used to walking through those hospital doors!!
Regards to all you other ladies and whatever you are doing hope you are ok!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Joan do hope all goes well tomorrow surely it wouldn't get cancelled again? Glad to hear that your sister in law is coping and hope she continues to do so after the funeral.
Joan I am afraid I buy comfortable shoes now also! Some of the. Cypriot women wear shoes I could never walk in!
Thinking of you tomorrow! X

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thanks for your enquiries ladies, I am fine and not as worked up about the appt tomorrow with the surgeon to get my results as I was last week. Just hoping the appt isn't cancelled again. If it is I think I shall be screaming down the phone. Had a lovely day today, took sister in law to visit a national trust property, compete with rather good lunch but surorisingly disappointing cakes. She is bearing up surprisingly well but I suspect that once the funeral is over, without the need to focus on everything that has tobe done, will be the more testing time.

Rosie, what a busy day you have had. No wonder you are exhausted.

Wildpurl, glad your appt went well you are pleased with the match. You sound amazingly stoical about the reconstruction process and the prospect of having a risk reducing MX.

Jackie, your shoes sound very sexy. I also bought myself some shoes on Saturday but I'm afraid they were of the comfy everyday variety. Even so hid them from my husband given I have a wardrobe full of shoes, many of them not so sensible.

Cassie, hope you made your second appt and the results of the scan were good. Ploughing through a devils food cake? It wouldn't last long here I can tell you.

Lovewine, hope the heart scan went well and that you get some sleep tonight (and tomorrow night as well of course).

Him Cassie glad to hear radiotheraphy is going well! I was supposed to have my planning meeting this week but the chief radiographer is away till Monday. I am hoping it will start next week now! Glad you are bandaging to have a good time with daughter the devils food cake sounds devine!
Wildpurl glad all was well and your surgeon was pleased. 3 months is a long time to wait just to,go,on the waiting list. Dare I ask how long the waiting list is?
Lovewine do hope your heart trace went well?
Jackie I am not surprised your husband doesn't want you to be a collector of designer shoes'
The meeting went very well thank you Jackie but I am exhausted this evening after another trip to Limassol. Got to go again on Friday!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thank you Joan and Rosie for your words if encouragement.
Wildpurl - so happy your appointment went well today. 🙂 These choices are all very confusing (to me) re surgery, so 3 months will give you plenty of time to come to a well thought out decision. At the moment, I'm thinking I don't want reconstruction as I can't stand the thought of more surgery. However, maybe after faffing about with fillers, I may feel differently. I would like to be a collector of designer shoes - but my husband would most certainly not like it! I have a few pairs (collected over a number of years!) and some handbags. My new ones are black suede, with a gold front. Unfortunately, the shoes I love the most don't love me as I can't walk in them - they're just too high! I tend to like lots of jimmy choo styles.
Lovewine - how did your appointment go today? I hope you weren't too nervous beforehand x x
Rosie - how did your meeting go this morning? Hope you found yourselves another shady bar for lunch!
Hi Cassie - glad your rads are going well. My BCN said I would probably have 4 weeks worth. How did your scan results go? Sending positive wishes. I was in london over the BH weekend so was in the rain on Monday too and glad it didn't spoil your birthday celebrations.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Appointment with breast surgeon was fine. She gave me a 6 month check up and all is well. I also had a further top up and the girls look more balanced now. I will go back in 3 months and if all is well she will put me on waiting list for permanent implant swap. As it's the NHS and it's not life threatening ....could go private but not with this surgeon so will probably wait it out. OR if I have the risk reducing mx on the other side - which I intend to do - then could get that side to same stage and have both implants replaced in one op. After being on the waiting list...
I have three months to decide what I want to do I guess!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning Ladies,

I have completed 5/20 Rad sessions and so far so good, they said not to expect any se's until after the first week, so we will see. Two appointments today, so lets hope the timings turn out OK, its always a worry, 12.00 radiotherapy and 2pm endocrinology to talk about the results of the scan, so no work today it would be pointless, I swapped my day off intead.

Rain, Rain and more rain in London over the bank holiday what a shame, my daughter is staying with me for a week before her son goes back to school and it was her birthday on Monday, the rain scuppered our plans but we still went out for a lovely Thai meal and had a yummy devils food cake made at the Humming Bird bakery, which by the way we are still plowing through as there was only four of us, we put a slice in the freezer for her to take home to her other half, he has a particularly sweet tooth. I like the idea of an after treatment treat to aim for, I will have a think about that one..... Have a good day all, it at leat looks like a dry one. x Cassie

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning Wildpurl, I am with you on the hospital phobia feeling, I have heart scan this morning , so was awake most of the night! People think because we go so many times we become used to it- I get worse!
Thanks for the info about john Lewis rowan courses, I am definitely going to look out for a beginners one here, particularly now autumn is on it's way. Hope your appt with breast surgeon goes ok and you get some
News regarding your implant.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning, I have an appointment this morning with the breast surgeon, to see how I am getting on. I am hoping to find out a bit more about the op to put in the permanent implant and maybe agree a timescale for that. Got to say that my hospital phobia is kicking in! I am working from home before the appointment so hence a slightly more leisurely breakfast this morning!

Yes, I do usually have two or three projects on the go, but owing to the heat and low energy from chemo making it difficult to focus on things over the summer, I have about six at the moment. I am determined to finish my summer cardigan and the crochet blanket and will then decide what to do with the others. I learned to crochet from my Mum, but she was not as good at crochet as at knitting so I was not as confident with crochet and also went many years without trying it. I went on a Rowan crochet beginners course at John Lewis a few years ago and really got into it again. You can find the list of workshops and courses at www.knitrowan.com, or google Rowan workshops. Their workshops are very good, I have done a few and especially like going up to Liberty for their workshops. You get 10% off all purchases on the day as well.

Gosh Rosie, that is still very hot, not really autumnal at all! It's great you have a busy day planned, enjoy getting your eyebrows done, it is lovely to be pampered again

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine I think you will be so relieved to get the surgery out of the way you won't be too worried about what it looks like as long as the cancer has gone!
Probably wise to give mother in law a wide birth until after surgery and you are feeling stronger!!!
Wildpurl, you were certainly well within your deadline of getting the spare room ready. The crochet blanket sounds like the perfect addition to the room!
The sun goes down here now by 7.20 so by 8pm it is quite dark. It's still far from autumnal here 37 still in the day down to about 31 now!
Lovewine good luck with you heart echo scan!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening Wildpurl, do you have several knitting/ crochet projects on the go at same time? I find that's what I do! How lovely to have a hand crocheted quilt for your new room, you are inspiring me to start again!
It's very autumnal here too, I also noticed today some of the trees are actually changing colour already- I do love autumn, it is my favourite time of year but would like to hold on to summer for a few weeks yet!
Have yet another hospital appt early tomorrow for a echo heart scan, then on to work afterwards.
Just a quick question- how did you learn to crochet? My grandma taught me over 40 years ago but need a refresher course I think!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I've often had problems with Mothers in law, Lovewine! I don't think yours has really thought about whether what she is saying would help you. I'm sure your surgery will be fine and you will cope much better than you imagine, but it is scary beforehand, after all it is something completely unknown.

Jackie, your shoes sound fantastic, are you a collector of designer shoes? Who is your favourite designer? I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend and wish you all the best with your surgery, too.

Joan, how annoying to lose your post, but nice to hear from you anyway.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good evening, it's nice to hear from everyone.
Rosie yes, the room we have decorated is a spare room. OH's elder son lived in it until last year when he moved out and then it was a bit tired and drab, and walls covered in blu tack marks where posters had been. We have finally cleared out various bits that he left behind! and wanted to make it a nice visitors' room, OH's Dad is coming to stay at Oct half term so that gave us a deadline. I am really pleased with how it looks, you are right about titivating Lovewine, I have been crocheting a blanket for the bed when we get it, it is in the colours of the room and coordinating colours and I hope it will make it feel very cosy and welcoming.

It feels very autumnal here, we have just had leftover pizza and a salad from the garden, it was dark before 8 because of the dark clouds!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Yes Rosie, that's true about healing quickly! Surgeons do such clever things now with reconstructions and breast conserving surgery- am just feeling a little like Louise on sulky step too with surgery looming! And yes it is a temporary thing, have to keep reminding myself of that and would rather be cancer free !! It has surprised me how I feel with the appearance of myself after surgery!
And regarding mother in law, O/h is even more infuriated with her comments than I am, but a lot less tolerant!!
rosie14
Member

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Lovewine once all the surgery is complete and we are healed we will not be disfigured! It is only a temporary situation. I was very impressed how quickly the biopsy incision healed and looked normal again after about 8 weeks.
Mother in laws can be very irritating by saying the wrong thing can you get you husband to have a word with her?
I was upset in the car on the way home too after the unti drop offs! When I got home I would go into their bedroom walk round it touch everything have a very big lump in my throat then I walked out closed the door and didn't go in again until they were due home! It's funny how you find coping strategies. I find the airport goodbyes dreadful when the children have been out here to see us the house is so quiet and empty when they have gone!
Hope everybody has had a good day and will have an even better evening. At least we all seem to be getting more sleep and not having to rely on tablets to get a shot at having 4 hours!!!! Xx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi everyone, what a busy day on here today! Thanks Joan for Friday wishes, hope you are doing ok?
Jackie, I am so with you on the terrified of surgery issue- would share the cyber wine with you too, maybe it would help us both! I am trying not to have a massive panic attack just thinking of it all- it has only just hit me in last couple of days that I am going to be " disfigured" , didn't think I would be as affected as just wanted cancer out of me.
Rosie, your rads are going to be really tiring having to travel that far for them, sounds Good you can ease yourself in to a mentoring/admin role , in between hospital!
Jackie, what are your shoes like? Heels? And what colour? Maybe post op a handbag to match?! Your weekend sounds lovely!
Louise, we all sit on the sulky step at some point!! It is very annoying when people say " the worse is over " meaning chemo! I too am fed up with no hair- bloody wig gets on my nerves as it's the same style and colour every day! I feel especially irritated with my mother in law at the moment who keeps repeatedly telling me " we all pray for you every week at church and in our weekly prayer meetings" , I apologise if any of you are religious but I feel like shouting at her" don't bloody bother praying for me, as I wouldn't have got this disease in the first place!"- sorry again.
Tij, yes you definitely deserve a treat too as well as your boys!! It will be hard when your son leaves for school, as Rosie said when hers went off to uni! When we left our two boys at their unis I cried all the way home( not in front of them) and kept going into their empty bedrooms and smelling their clothes!!
Wildpurl, now you get to do the fun part with spare room- the furnishing and tittivating- well done in finishing the decorating, good luck at the dentist!
Hope everyone else is ok, jos, cassie, Nellie, Eam,Kirstie, Lisa and sorry if have missed any one off!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Jackie glad you had a great time in London and purchased your post chemo shoes I don't blame you having an eye on a post surgery pair!
On the bra front I purchased 2 crop tops from Sport Direct and 4 front fastening mastectomy bra from the Nicola Jane website. They are soft and non underwired! I am not going to purchase anymore until the implants have been put in and I will finally see what size I am going to be!
Jackie the op will come and go,and you won't know anything about it. You will wake up and it will all be over. The pain control, following surgery is very good and they won't let you be uncomfortable.
Goodness 3 different football teams in one household there's an interesting situation!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon everyone,

Back from london in one piece! The trip away was lovely - got to see how the other half lived for a few days in our hotel! However, it did show me how much treatment has affected my stamina. Physically drained wasn't the word! Only blot was our last night - the family staying in the rooms next to us had a night flight and boy did the let everyone know about it. Doors banging, talking in the corridor loudly. We have complained! Shoes purchased! Lovely pair of Gucci! Have my eye on a pair of post surgery treat already!
The BCN has just been to visit me to talk about my op and the world of mx bras! I feel as if I'm constantly jumping over hurdles and just want a break from it all. But then I think - you've got cancer - what do you expect? I don't know where I'm going to get the "bravery" from to have my op but I suppose I've got a week to find it. She said they don't tend to give pre-meds anymore but if I really wanted one I must mention it at my pre-assessment on Thursday.
Lovewine - I'm sending you a great big bottle of wine to help in the coming days! Glad you had a lovely time in Norfolk and you were lucky with the weather. We had rain on Monday, but the other days were drier and warmer!
Wildpurl - well done for completing your room! We have just chosen some new wallpaper for our bedroom. Can't be a DIY job for us as have a vaulted ceiling. It would be a "Carry-on" sketch if we tried to do it ourselves I'm sure!
Rosie - good news on the re-growth front! I can't wait until my eye-brows grow again. Why don't you get your lip waxed too? I have mine done!
Tlj - sorry about the weight gain - is that a known SE? Someone on another forum calls it tamoxibolloxs! Which always makes me smile! I can feel the weight I lost during chemo creep back on so know how you feel. My little boy is also a Chelsea fan and would love a shirt. However, I'm a liverpol supporter and his dad a notts county fan, so neither if us can quite bring ourselves to buy him one! It must be very nerve racking for you all re son's new school but as you say, after a settling in period everyone will feel much better.
Louise - room on the step for me? I'm sulking because I don't want my op! All the mx bras in the catalogues are so frumpy! I have more bottom issues (piles)! And the nurse said I can't get pregnant! So you aren't alone. People try to make us feel better, but they just can't know how this illness makes us feel. For them us getting through the various treatments is like a ticky list - then everything will go back to normal. They just can't know what we deal with. Luckily for us, everyone on here knows - so you sulk away - Lord knows you are entitled to. Hope you're feeling brighter soon.
Have good afternoons everyone x x
Jos, Joan, Booksandwine, Kirstie, EAM, Suzie68, Cassie, Nellie, Smokeclouds, rolicarpet - hope you're all doing well x x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Afternoon Tlj glad you managed the wet bank holiday without falling out! Oh Tlj don't the grandparents want to buy you a present as well after all you have been through?! I am very sorry about theTamoxifen and the weight Can you have a word with whoever prescribed it for you and tell them about the weight gain as there are alternatives that can be given?
How often will you get to see, your son once he is at boarding school, is it far away from you? Does he know anyone else that is going? When our eldest 2 went to uni we gave them about 3 weeks to settle and then went for a weekend to see everything and meet some of their new friends!
Wildpurl glad the room is finished that was quick work is it a spare bedroom?
Yes I am going to help DH by sorting the class lists and writing down the ground rules to give to the lead primary teacher who is going to,have to ensure things run smoothly!
Going to get my eyebrow reshaped tomorrow I can't believe the growth in a week!!!! The hairs on my legs look like kipper bones and I had to cream my upper lip yesterday! The hair on my head is thickening up but isn't that long yet. Eyelashes coming on well another week and I may be able to use mascara!!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning all!
Louise, the sulky step is never too far away from me, as Rosie says the reality of it all takes time to sink in once chemo finishes and then I make progress on one thing and another seems to go backwards.
I definitely feel a lot older than I used to at the moment but I think it will be a year before I get back to what I would consider normal.

Rosie I am sure you miss your work as you feel better, I know I did, and especially as it is your business. I think it is a good idea for you to introduce yourself to new people and new starters, so they know who you are when you go back to a more active involvement. But I think you are wise to defer getting more into the work until you are finished with treatment and your health is better. That said, are there any tasks you could take on by yourself that would help DH but not be too draining for you?

Lovewine, hope work goes well and try not to worry too much. I have dentist checkup on Friday - far more frightening than surgery! 😉

Wallpaper was all done yesterday, this evening we will clear up the room and today we are looking at beds and mattresses.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Louise, you are entitled to sit on the sulky step every now and then. I was feeling just like you 2 weeks ago. In the last couple of days I can feel my energy levels getting better and I subsequently feel emotionally better. I'm sure I will go through a few more sulky step phases over the next few months. We just have to enjoy the good bits. As Rosie says you probably can change your prosthesis and if not try to enjoy a bit of a shopping trip. Perhaps treat yourself to something else as well as a bra.
Life here is pretty busy with Dad and step mum staying. We managed a wet bank holiday cooped up in the house without falling out, so that is an achievement. I'm off to younger sons school shop in a minute to get new trousers for him and then the grand parents want to take the boys shopping for a present. I think they are going to get fleeced for a Chelsea shirt which I refused to buy younger son because they are rediculously expensive.
I got on the scales this morning and it was not good! One week of tamoxifen and the weight is piling on. I'm going to have to really watch it as I can already feel my clothes are getting quite tight. One thumb nail has fallen off and the other one is lifting up. At this rate I'm going to look a real sight for sore eyes when I meet the parents at my sons new school in 10 days time. My son is beginning to get a bit nervous about starting now, I think the reality is beginning to hit him. I'm sure he will be fine, just need to get through the first few weeks, just like starting any new school.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Louise I am not surprised you are on the sulky step I think we tend to get through the chemo and the surgery and then the rot set sets in. We are waiting to feel normal and others indeed expect us to but it doesn't happen. We are still dealing with the long term effects of chemo or in my case not having made a normal recovery after surgery 6 weeks on! Do not be hard on yourself. Have you had a word with the specialist about the silicone implant being wrong size surely he should sort it out for you? Hopefully you have family and friends that are still supportive of you. I have heard it said on more than one occasion that this is at least a year. When ladies have delayed reconstruction it can easily go into the second year. Then of course the tablets for 5-10 years ( but let's not count them!)
You are not in this alone and I think I can speak for all the other ladies on here, each day we all get on the sulky step and we force ourselves off it for our loved ones! This is a fight we are all trying to win - we can do it, we have come this far. I just take a day at a time now and for each new thing I am able to do have to be thankful. For example being able to open the lounge patio window with a shoe horn as we have security locks at the top and bottom which are just out of my reach!
Come and visit us on this thread Louise we understand you ! Xxxx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi ladies blimey some of you are like superwoman with energy to spare I am still like a 900 year old woman. I am also feeling very low especially missing my dad who died 3 years ago of lung cancer. I am so fed up of people telling me that I must be happy now its all over. Hmm only 3 week of radiotherapy and 10 years of tablets not to mention bald every where and sore veins plus having to get another prosthesis because big silicone tit does not fit in any bras. Honestly people just don't get it oh and i am being forced into the menopause great and unending joy - Not

Lovewine so glad you had a wonderful time and the weather was kind! Yes our school starts back next week and I was hoping to show my face in the primary end to make sure everything was ok. Now looks like I will be.making the daily 2.5 hr trip ( one way) to Nicosia for radiotherapy!
Going to spend some time Wednesday am with some primary staff. I was going to phase my self back in gradually and not take responsibility for a class again more of a consultant / monitoring role! Doubtful I will commence this until after half term!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone, back now from Norfolk, had a lovely time and just what we needed, Wildpurl, hope you enjoyed your pizzas and wallpapering is done!! Thankyou for your reassuring words, working up until Friday is a distraction I need!
Rosie, sounds quite a nightmare with the bank etc, hope it's all sorted out now, doesn't sound very pleasant having your wound cleaned out!! Hope you soon get sorted with expanders and get some relief! Will your school be starting the new term soon? Expect you will miss it very much, with such a demanding job though you have to be at full strength!! I know it probably doesn't feel like it now -but you will soon be back !
Hope everyone else has enjoyed the bank holiday even though it's rained today!! We were very lucky to have had lovely weather all weekend, last night even sat outside the pub with a lovely fish pie and white wine until sunset-fantastic, so nice to appreciate these little things in life !!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Evening everyone! Wildpurl hope the wallpapering got done and you managed to relax before working again tomorrow. Lovewine hope you are safely back home from Norfolk and Jackie from London!
We has a very busy day today sorting out our new loan agreement with the bank. We, like so many others were sold a Swiss franc mortgage and the repayment doubled ! We joined a group with a lawyer stating that we had been sold a product that most people are now struggling to pay. Some have just dumped their keys at the bank and gone! Well it took a few hours but we got the forms sorted and into the bank. Then onto Limassol got to go,Wednesday and Friday for cleaning of inside the wound! Then he says he will leave it alone to heal. Haven't got appointment for radiotherapy the receptionist is going to ring them tomorrow. He still, reckons the tissue expanders will,be more, comfortable, when he inflates them likely to be next week now!
Hope the rest of you are all ok!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning Rosie, it is raining here so typical Bank Holiday weather LOL. I am having a rest day with just a little housework and will be making pizzas this evening for dinner.
Lovewine, yes, back at work tomorrow, I worked right up to the day before my surgery for the same reason as you, it took my mind off things and stopped me worrying too much. Not that I think you need to worry, I think it will all be fine, but it is normal to be apprehensive. Have a safe journey home from Norfolk.

Hope everyone else enjoys their Bank Holidays!
