Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi guys, songbird66 - I have my first treatment tomorrow, and I am going to give the cold cap a go aswell, I am not nervous at the moment just apprehensive of the unknown! Good luck hope it all goes well for you xx
wildpurl - I went to a look good feel better course today aswell, I know I don't start treatment till tomorrow but I wanted to fill my day and have a little pamper session before it all starts, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone if they have the chance 🙂
I bet you are glad you are home now kirstie it must feel like such a relief, fingers crossed everything runs as smoothly as it can for you now.
Thanks suzie68, in regards to telling children, I think it all depends on each individual child. I was very honest with my 8 year old son, once I knew what surgery and treatment I was having. I may aswell had told him I had a cold it bothered him that much, he just asked if I was going to die and I said 'no' after that he was fine. I do make sure I explain everything to him though like what my pic line is for and so on. In fact it was easier telling him than the adults lol.
Anyways sorry if I have let anyone out, I hope you are all feeling good.
Keep smiling xxxx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi thanks ladies its so good to be back :0)

I don't appear to be losing any hair anywhere yet and I'm day 14 tomorrow, I feel fine and really positive about everything going forward despite it being a tough couple of weeks.

songbird, I had the cold cap, take a scarf for the back of your knock and a soft Alice band if you can for your forehead, or something like a sweatband, it makes it much more bearable if the cap doesn't touch the skin at the front of your head, I had to use some gauze and shove that up there.

It is really cold when they first put it on but you do get used to it, though I had to fight everything in me to keep it on to start with. I kept it on for the whole session and the full 2 hours after the chemo is finished which is recommended. Make sure you wear layers and if you think you feel cold at all wrap up, I started to get a bit chilly at the end (my husband opened the window) and I had a chill it started me off shaking and it took ages to stop, this wouldn't have happened if I had said I was chilly straight away xx It is deffo doable with the cold cap, someone I know used this all the way through and kept most of her hair apart from one small patch which you couldn't notice. Let us know what you think and how you geton x good luck x

Ps I took someone with me and have different people coming for each session, the time goes pretty quick really x I took everything, mag, kindle, snacks, laptop, films didn't really use any of it lol x I felt grotty the same night though wasn't expecting too though it would take a few days but was pretty quick for me, other people it wasn't straight away, so just listen to your body and go with the flow and it will be fine xx

Hi susie, I have the mummy's lump book and used it with my son I hadn't told him it was cancer just that I had bad bits that needed to be taken out and that I would then need medicine which would make me poorly for a bit, but whilst i was in hospital he heard his dad talking to a lady in the shop and so he said to me that i had cancer and i was going to go bald and die, so we used the book to explain, in fact he read it to me, it's good, really simple and easy and said pretty much the same as I had said but used the words breast cancer just once, it does mention to stop the lump coming back a few times which I didn't like but he didn't pick up on it, overall it is a good book that could be any children's book and worth ordering a copy - you are a very young grandmother !! Hi Suzie68

After reading your post where you mention about how to explain things to your young grandchildren, BCC have a publication especially aimed at the little ones to help them understand, it's called 'Mummy's Lump' but I am sure you could adapt it to fit a grandparent.  I have put you the link below, you can order it free of charge on line and a copy will be posted out to you.  I hope you find it helpful, it's a lovely little book.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Welcome Joan and Songbird and Kirstie hey welcome back so glad you are home and feeling better. Joan I am a grannie too, but a youngish one, I am 45 and have 4 grandchildren that are 4, 3, 18 months an 8 weeks. sounds like your Husband is giving you lots of support and is a dab hand with a needle! I am in FEC day 12 I think and am doing fine (and praying it stays that way), working full time and have the 3 eldest grandchildren staying on Thursday night (may have to get the hospital to do a quick scan on my brain!). No hair loss yet but didn't really expect to until round 2. I have a wig and all variety of head coverings waiting to be used. I don't know what I will say to the grandchildren but I just figure don't make a big deal about it and they wont either, my husband is bald so thought Id tell them I wanted to try Granddads hairstyle!
Songbird I didn't try the coldcap so cant help there but I know a few of he other ladies did and I am sure they will give you some advice, I'm sure I remember someone saying to wear warm clothes.

Kirstie, sorry your hubbie is struggling, my hospital have offered support for my family if they need it and I know they can also call the BCC helpline if they want to. I sometimes think its harder for them than it is for us because there is nothing they can do to change it and some men do need to be 'men'. Hopefully the 'chats' will help.

Loulou, welcome back, glad you have healed and have a date, its the next step to getting better and kicking this cr*p in the ar*e.

wildpurl, I have mine on 18 May, I am really hoping I keep my lashes and brows because I am pants at putting n false ones but have a horrible feeling I'm gonna be a expert pretty soon.

Stay strong ladies much love xx

All the best songbird they put the drip Canucks in my hand first one and I have small veins so they had me in hot water for a bit oligarch your similar a hot water bottle might help.

Take someone with you is my best advice Also you get given anti nausea drugs but I got horrible constipation so I'd ask for a prescription toe that.

All the best any questions issues just post.

I'm getting a picc line in tomorrow and no 2 is on Tuesday and day 15 I feel really good. All the best

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi songbird, welcome to the thread and good luck tomorrow! I did take a warm cardigan to wear while the cold cap was on and that worked well. I also took water to drink. I mainly read my book but I am thinking of taking my iPod next time as well, so I can listen to music.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Everyone!

I'm a newbie to the forums.  I start my chemo tomorrow morning, can't wait to get the first session over with tbh.

I was just wondering if any of you who have already started or have been through chemo previously have any tips for what to take with me, apart from reading materials, etc.?

I'll be trying the cold cap just to see if it works for me and I've already been told that they will supply the conditioner and towels, but I wondered if a little fleecy jacket or cardigan might be needed if i start to feel cold with the icy cap on my head.

Any little tips or experiences you can relate would be very much appreciated!

Thank you! : )

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

So pleased to hear you are home and feeling OK kirstie!!! And that you are feeling confident they have adjusted things for your next dose. I haven't lost any hair yet (Day 12) - well no more than normal anyway - I'm not expecting to this cycle but even with the cold cap I am expecting to lose some in the second cycle.

Joan glad you are doing OK, bummer about the clot but the main thing is they are on the case and you are being looked after.

Loulou, glad your wound has healed and you have a definite start date now, I would call the hotline about the steroids if I were you, I think it's pretty crucial.

Today I went to my Look Good Feel Better course, which was most enjoyable and interesting. I came away with a lot of very nice products and lots of info about how to make up - of course I know how to make up, but they gave tips about how to cope with some of the effects of chemo such as being flushed, losing eyebrows and eyelashes etc, which I didn't know before. They also gave guidance on extra hygiene measures while having treatment and using makeup which I thought was a good idea. I am happy with the look I achieved and it has boosted my morale a bit in that I have not been wearing makeup while at home, and now I think I might while I'm feeling good.

Just as an example, I usually have my eyelashes tinted and don't bother with mascara, but of course they have gone all pale now and I can't have them done. I felt so much better with mascara on that I thought - I should wear mascara until I can dye my eyelashes again. Obvious really but I just hadn't realised that it was making me feel drab.

Hi Joan

We must of been writing our posts at the same time ! I had a clot too but mine had managed to be dispersed before the CT scan so that showed clear, it's scary stuff, I was already on the injections but think mine was because I was laid up for so long x

Hope your feeling okay now, I have bruises your husband has the touch if he needs a diagram x :0)

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi ladies

I'm home and feel fantastic ! The sun is shining and I can't believe how great I feel, better than before all this started I'm sure.

I can also say that I feel prepared for the next round now too as they are reducing my dose by 20% so it should be fairly straightforward.

I hope Rosie managed her flight okay and it hasn't worn her out too much x

How's everyone else doing are you all okay about the next round ? Xx Ashley are you okay ?

My wig arrived and I have just arranged for it to go back I don't like it so I'm trying a new one, I have also ordered 2 buff head scarfs and will start to wear them every now and then before it falls out. I am thinking about giving the cold cap another go as I haven't lost any hair so far, has anyone else?

Bumble girl, I didn't speak on here for ages but kept looking and reading, so even if your mum doesn't want to speak that's fine as long as she knows she will always be made welcome, we are are going through this and we all have situations that are different, I had a lumpectomy in jan followed by a double mastectomy in march, I am now down for 6 rounds of FEC - I have completed my first round, I have just turned 37, I have a husband who hasn't been very supportive at all but friends that have been amazing, my husband is now trying to be after one of my friends and my sister "had a word" :0) x None of these well meaning friends and family have it though and sometimes it's nice to talk to people who can completely get where you are coming from even if they feel differently to you x x.

Hope everyone is managing to enjoy a little sunshine, I even had an alcohol free Becks when I got home last night to celebrate lol !

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well, it was all going well. Had a lovely day on Sunday over on the Gower peninsula. Walked on a beautiful beach then had  a delightful lunch (and managed to eat all of it) overlooking the bay. Knackered after it but worth it. Was looking forward to a week with only one, minor, medical appt and being able to get back to doing some work (I work from home). But Monday morning my left arm was swollen and red. Had to rush into the BRI where they diagnosed a blood clot triggered by the PICC line So now have to have daily injections of a blood thinning drug! Hey-ho. I had wimped out from giving myself  other injections but having to go to the health centre every day at the same time for the next 16 weeks would just be too constraining.  So plucked up my courage and said I would do them myself. And in fact it's OK although my husband is fussing about making sure I Inject in a different place each time and has drawn a diagram of my tum to record each one. If allowed I think he would like to use a biro and draw little 'xes' on me to mark each site, along with the date! ! Never realised before that at some point I would be grateful I have ample flab in that area!

Hoping my hair doesn't fall out before my grandson's birthday party on Sunday. Are there any other grannies out there?

Joan

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning Rosie and everyone, the best of luck with your trip and enjoy seeing your family, I am sure that will give you a boost even if the travelling is tiring. Rest lots too! I liked the sound of your fruit salad btw, very nutritious as well as full of fibre and I am going to try the same for my next one.

Bumblegirl, welcome and welcome to your Mum, if she joins she can read posts herself, she doesn't have to post if she doesn't want to. I think chemo is a huge challenge for all of us, but having had one FEC so far I feel that I will be able to get through that part of the treatment, it is tough for a few days but it is doable. We are all ages here too, I am 57.

Ashley, hope you are doing OK

Well it's a nice bright morning where I am and I am working at home this week, so I had better get the laptop fired up!

Hi bumblegirl get your mum to join. It helps to know that others are going through the same and a little worry can get ironed out on here.
Suzie68 glad you are doing well. Yes stuff yourself with fruit I haven't been too bad this round with constipation. Was fairly bad for 5 days the first time round.
EAM good luck with your second round at least you know what to expect this time round!
Ashley 97 good luck with first treatment come back to board after and let us know how you all are.
I do hope KIrstie will be home by now! Hope Wildpurl is ok and do hope I haven't missed anyone!
I am getting a little nervous now as I still feel a little delicate and tired its a big thing to be doing. Once we are in UK we will take our time. If I don't manage to touch base while away stay positive and calm everyone and I will catch up with you all Frid 25th when I will have had 3rd session! xxxxxxxxx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me posting on behalf of my mum. My mum is 54 and diagnosed in December 13, had lumpectomy January and mastectomy and all lymph nodes removed from under right arm in Feb. She has her first chemo in the morning at half 11. She will be having fec-t, 8 doses every 21 days and then rads and then hormone tablets. Chemo sounds so scary for her but I have been reading her posts on here and it has put her mind at rest a little that it is doable and that if something does go wrong ie infection the drs can fix it. Mum keeps saying she's going to join too but I think she's finding it all hard to talk about still. I hope you are all doing well xxx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Kirstie hope they have finally let you go home what a nightmare for you. Rosie hope you have a good break and well done in getting through no2. EAM nightmare about your wig hopefully they will sort it before you need it. Welcome Jackie, I took books puzzles etc and a couple if ltrs of water, I didn't even need the books as was in and out in 1.5 hours. All of us who have had our first did much better than we expected and for me the SE have been minimal so far and I even managed a couple of glasses of wine and a take away madras last night which was day 12 for me, although dud regret it at 3.00am as I had the writer heartburn which I've never had in my life. The unknown is the worst part but the chemo itself was a doddle but I do have quite prominent veins. Personally I am going to avoid carbs for a few days before and after my next session as I had terrible constipation and I really don't think they helped. Have a good week everyone x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Auw you're going to have a busy time rosie14! It will be nice for you with what's going on & I'm sure you're husband will enjoy once the flight is over! Wow that's good & very encouraging that you know the chemo is already working!:). When you touch base on the 25th I will just have had my 2nd round!:). Hope you have a lovely time with you're family & take care xxx
Glad you had a lovely time with you're son ashley97:). Good idea,we're going to have a bit of a day out next wkend just before my 2nd round. Like rosie14 says we all have slightly different regimes - I was not given steroids before. Had to take an anti sickness tablet 1 hr before treatment, followed by more anti sickness just before the treatment went in. Was sent home with anti sickness tablets & steroid tablets that lasted about 3 days (to be taken at regular intervals)& another pack of anti sickness to take if required. I just took a bottle of water so was swigging that & they made me a cup of tea. I didn't bring any books/mags but the nurse was really chatty so didn't need to! A notebook would be handy - personally I take it to every appointment! Drink plenty of water on the way home to flush everything out! Will be thinking of you xxx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning to you all! Hope you are all feeling well and positive.

I am now on day 3 round 2 so still feeling delicate and fowl taste in mouth. My husband is not too happy about our forthcoming trip to UK tomorrow night so I am going to have to present as normal as I can tomorrow! I will rest up again today didn't do too much yesterday. After tomorrow you may not hear from me until Friday 25th as when we get back from UK I am straight back in for round 3! This is not ideal but I had booked the trip back before I was diagnosed with cancer and I didn't know I was going to be having chemo every 2 weeks for the first month. Apparently the tumor was 6cm, but the good news, I should have mentioned before, is after round 1 of chemo the oncologist said it has started to shrink! So I must hang on to this.

We are flying to Manchester tomorrow don't leave here until 10.35pm get into Manchester at 1.30am which will be 3.30am to us as we are 2 hours ahead. Hopefully I will sleep on the plane. Not keen on flying and usually have 2 big glasses of wine pre flight- obviously will not be doing that!!!! I have a face mask to wear and have been instructed to start injections the day after! Staying on the airport when we arrive at Premier Inn. After breakfast a leisurely trip up th Newcastle to see our daughter and 2 young granchildren for 3 days. Our daughter and husband are giving up their en suite bedroom in their new house for us! Then travelling down to midlands, should be back to normal by then, to see my sister and 93 year old father. We aren't telling my dad as my mother dies 27 years ago from cancer! Following this we are going down to Plymouth for 3 nights to see youngest son and his family. Then returning back up to Manchester. We are not venturing over to France to see eldest son! So this is a tall order but one that has kept me going.

I maybe able to use my daughter's i pad to get online and touch base. I am going to take my wig with me I just have a feeling that hair may start to come out as my head feels prickly when I touch my hair!

Have a good day everyone and do enjoy the good days! xx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Ashley97 welcome to the board where you will find lots of advice and an understanding ear. The first few days are when you tend to feel the most delicate. Most of us have felt nauseous and very tired. It is better to drink and eat something during chemo and to keep doing so after even if your body says no, little and often. Also take a magazine/puzzle book. Maybe a photograph of your little boy to remind you why you need to have this treatment. I have been given steroids to keep at home if I feel really sick and the anti sickness pills don't work. We all have a slightly different regime. The very best of luck and do keep in touch with us! x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

hi all just thought I'd check in, I know I havent started my treatment yet (I start weds) but reading all your posts is keeping me really positive. I have just got in from taking my little boy out for our 'easter day' as he is going to stay with his grandparents from weds morning till easter monday to give me some time to
see how it all affects me. we spent the day in the new
forest then drove across to portsmouth harbour to
play on the amusements and have dinner it was a
lovely day, made me forget everything that was going
on 🙂 I hope you can get home soon kirstie77 and
sorry to hear about your hairdresser and your wig eam28. I had my picc line fitted yesterday and going for blood test monday and to pick up steroids ? havent actually been told what they are for, just been told to take them 24 hours before treatment?
just wondering if you are allowed to take drinks into chemo with you ? will I want to ? or is there anything anyone recommends i take with me ?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Thank you ladies:) yeah Rosie 14 I shouldn't think my hair will fall out before they arrive just hope I like one of the ones she's chosen as not much time to change now! If it just thins I'll be fine as my hairs quite thick anyway. But yep kirstie77 maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised & you're right - in the circumstances I thought they'd be a bit more organized & compassionate!
Sounds like aerobics maybe too strenuous then. Will have to see if there's a yoga/Pilate's class around. I'm not very green fingered - I guess this could be a good time to learn!
I haven't got a clue about Facebook so if I joined I'd have to get someone to show me what to do!
Has anyone else got a runny nose? (not a cold)

That's okay then wildpurl I'm glad everyone isn't running off and I'm going miss lots and have to follow things in more than one place, I didn't want to be the only one that wasn't.

EAM my onc also said no swimming I quote "it would be like getting into a sea of germs" kinda put me straight off anyway :0), walking is all that's been recommended for me which is great as that sounds like me kind of exercise routine ;0) x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

EAM, my onc said no swimming and nothing too strenuous. Walking like you have been doing is perfect I think, also one of my fave things to do. He also said yoga and Pilates are OK. I enjoyed my class, it was good to stretch out.

I haven't asked to join the FB group yet. I agree it feels safe in here! I also think that if we post here then future chemotherapy patients can see how we coped and get answers to their questions, I have often looked at the older threads to see how people got on. If we go to FB then the value of this forum is not so great. But that's just my point of view, I'm certainly not saying people shouldn't go to FB if they feel it works better for them.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

EAM - that's awful about your wigs as if the hair loss thing isn't stressful enough, lets hope you are pleasantly surprised !
I picked my wig out and haven't heard back yet either but I don't think I like the one I picked now anyway, so I ordered a different one from simplywigs.co.uk, thats not arrived yet either so I'm just going to wait now, I also ordered a couple of buff head scarfs but I just think I look silly, I need to practice lol so many new talents to learn.

I love a bit of gardening can't wait til I'm able to get out and about in mine, although I think after all this i may become a hermit for the next 6 months and not leave the boundry of my house just be be sure ! Lol

The meals are pretty good to be honest Rosie especially now I can eat them :0) how are you feeling especially with your travel plans x x

Sending you a hug Jackie hope you are coping okay xxx

Has everyone done the Facebook thing ? I wasn't sure because I feel cocooned in here :0) x

Not very impressed with my hairdressers! Rang this morning as picked out wigs last sat & she said prob fit them 2day but heard nothing since! She said they haven't arrived yet & has had to order different ones as a couple that I picked where marked in the book as NHS ones & they where marked wrong! Let's hope I like what she's picked & that my hair hasn't started falling out before they arrive!:(
Blimey kirstie77 you really are going through the mill arnt you?! At least you where in the right place, how scary! Hope you're on the straight and narrow before you're next one.
Glad you're still going well rosie14:)
Youre right wildpurl - our health comes first,no point in pushing ourselves. I used to do aerobics every week before all of this. Was thinking of going back on my good weeks but not sure about catching bugs?? I've heard swimming is out of the question!

Kirstie I am glad it was all sorted out quickly, must have been very frightening for you. Hope you continue to recover and get to go home soon
Rosie, I agree you are amazing, sounds as though you are getting on OK, hope it stays that way.
Jackie, well done on your first, it sounds like you are coping well. I really empathise on the career front by the way, I am in a different profession but last year was made a head of department, thoroughly enjoying it but this year so far I have been off two months with surgery and now part time through chemo, don't feel I am exactly making my mark! But what can you do, our health is the most important thing and must come first.

The sun is shining here and the birds are singing their little heads off. I have my first Pilates class since starting chemo this morning and then hope to enjoy some gardening.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi Rosie your so fantastic, just thought I'd say that x

Well after yesterday I was transferred from the private hospital were I am to A&E in an ambulance with a suspected clot, (I couldn't breath) - honestly you couldn't write it ! It was good I was still in hospital though as they were really quick to sort me out, they gave more injections, scanned me and then I was returned back to my hospital where I was - at least I'm getting all my issues out in the first round !

Hope everyone is coping okay, it looks like it may be sunny here today xx

We are going to be some blinking tough cookies after this :0) xx

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I chopped up strawberries, kiwi and grapes to take with me to hospital this time and it seems to have sorted out the constipation problem!

Hope you all had a good night's sleep, it was goood to be in my own bed last night even though I got out to the loo 4 times. This happened the first time round too, all the liquids they put in me working thier way out!

Woken up with the metal taste and can feel the nausea creeping in so will be taking a pill before breakfast. I don't seem to be so tired yet!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well done jackie09! Sounds like a good start! I didn't get much sleep the first night either. Hope you continue to cope with it well.
I went to the pharmacy & got some proper mouth wash & am using my little girls bonjela! Not sure what's happening about my wig - the girl that's dealing with it not in till tomorrow so can't see her fitting me in then!
Glad you're fighting fit kirstie77 even though you're restricted!
I'm sure they'll start you wed ashley97 - my bcn said as long as you're bloods are fine they pretty much go ahead. I know what you mean - not working! My bcn advised me to take 8months off to get through everything,I did argue with her but as I work as a support worker for adults with learning difficulties theres a risk of infection & I don't want to let them down from one wk to the next! I've been off since end of Feb & not found it too bad,go on lots of walks, cleaning, declutter house, see friends, going to brush up on my sign language & may look into a book keeping course.
Auw sorry you feel a bit worse this time round rosie14. Hopefully youll get through the worst of it over the wkend & be ready for Mon!:)

Well done Jackie! The first few days are the worst just take each day as it comes. Do keep eating even when you are feeling nauseous it makes you feel better after for a short while! Whereabouts in Cyprus were you? We are on the West Coast not far from Paphos.I went to get my wig styled last week and had to wear it while the hairdresser cut it, She didn't charge me.
Have a good night everyone tomorrow is another day! x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello everybody,

A BIG thank you for all of your good wishes - I think they worked x x

I hope today has been a kind day to everyone x x So had my first round yesterday. Staff were very good with me - they know to treat me with kid gloves as I'm a bit of a baby!! I think actually getting the stuff, for some, is the easy part (unless of course they can't get a pesky vein). Got home around 2.30 ish and was in bed for 4.00 ish. Nausea came on around 6.30 and was armed with my tablets. TBH most of it I felt in my head for some reason and both my forearms felt very tingly. I kept Rosie's words close - drink plenty of water and nibble on crackers. I did that until about 11 where I think in actually got a quick sleep. Due to all water intake and fuzzy head, didn't really get to sleep til 3 ish - but al least I was awake to take my tablets. Got ondanstoden, but onc said take it days 2,3 and 4 - but going to ask if can take it straight away. So all in all, I think, compared to some lovely ladies I've not had it too bad, so I'm not complaining. I'm a bit of a worrier, so my onc has arranged for some gscf injections, so some achey bones to look forward to on Monday!
Just to introduce myself properly, I'm:
42, diagnosed 10 th March and having chemo first, FEC-T regime - 1 down 5 to go!!!
I'm married (10years this year) and have 1 little boy who's 7 and 2 dogs - both rescue
I'm a teacher, and was acting deputy head for 6 whole weeks before this threw a spanner in the works!!!
I've bought a wig - which actually looks better than my own hair!!
PS we used to have a house in Cyprus, so look forward to chatting to you Rosie to reminisce!

Love and strength to us all!!! X x x x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hi all when I posted earlier I seemed to have missed a whole page of thread I'm so sorry loulou Jackie and Rosie, I must seem all about me ! I'm so so sorry !

Jackie, where else can we get out what in our head with others that have any sort of comprehension to how you might feel, loulou im sending you huge hugs xx

Rosie and Jackie I hope you are both okay, Jackie just take one day at a time x and rest I felt like by day 5 I should be better and I wasn't and then thought it was me being negative in my own head, I wasn't as it turned up but I was tough on myself and forced myself to do things I wasn't ready for so just go with the flow, my BCN said allow yourself 7 days xx

One note on the constipation, I had this issue too and also had lactulose, but movicol really helped me too, you can get it fom the docs, I just bought some over the counter for speed x

Rosie I'm still here they said expect to be here for the weekend ....

Booksandwine I am a knitter and crocheter and I sometimes sew as well, so I have quite a lot I could do as long as I'm feeling OK. I've always admired people's scrapbooking projects though, they look so beautiful!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hope you went ok Jackie09. I had second round yesterday. I am on 2 weekly for the first 2 months! I had the nausea feeling and fowl metal taste in mouth much quicker. But I have come out armed with plenty of anti sickness tablets and steroids. I shall take them I won't wait for it to get worse this time. Still hoping to be ok to fly to UK on Monday evening, have got to take 7 injections and I have a doctors note to get them through the security at airport!!!
Glad to hear most people are feeling much better. Yes EAM its the first 5/6 days that are the worst and then the unexpected pains from the injections! I shall have my painkillers at hand this time didn't know what it was first time round! Hope you are home now Kirsty? x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well I'm still in hospital but am feeling so much better, I just have the horrible mouth too and indigestion at night but I find a cup of hot milk helps with this before bed.

They have told me I still can't go home as I have no immune system at all they used the word neo something or other and I have a sign on my door warning everyone and telling them gowns and gloves etc which is good but visitors are restricted so its boring but I seem to have a established a routine of sorts.

It is mad what the mind forgets, as although I'm still in hospital and won't be leaving anytime soon, my determination is back :0) xx

Have a good weekend ladies x
