Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well the spring weather has definitely gone, chilly and wet here. Not much incentive to go out which is just as well because OH in bed with another attack of labyrinthitis. We were supposed to be having lunch with a friend (unfortunately  the same friend we had go cancel last weekend) then going to the cinema to see All is True, the Kenneth Branagh film about Shakespeare. Its a very limited run, only 4 showings and tonight wasthe only one we could make. Still, have had one injection of culture this week, going to Cardiff to see The Magic Flute. It was a group outing so coach travel all organised, which was brilliant. I was pleased I managed it although I had deliberately taken it very easy all day to ensure I had enough energy.

Lovewine, that is really good news about your friend from breast cancer treatment. What an emotional encounter it must have been with your friend who does have cancer though. Incredibly brave of him to arrange his own funeral though. A neighbour of ours, who died of pancreatic cancer a couple of years ago did the same; in fact he recorded a message which was read out at the service. Incredible to be able to do that.

Rosie, what day do you actually go into hospital/have your op. Its understandable that you are feeling apprehensive but it will be so good to have it sorted and to be able to look forward to being  free of the pain you have had for so long and being able to enjoy your holiday. I assume your blood pressure check was OK?You clearly have some lovely  walks near you along the canal and the river so I hope you have some decent weather to be able to get out as soon as you are up to it. What a shame about OHs ring, he must have been upset. Scrumping oranges though remind me so much of the colours and smells of Cyprus.

Cassie and Wildpurl, hope all well with you.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, such good news about your breast cancer friend Lovewine. It must be very difficult for you and everyone to face the time ahead with your other friend with cancer,  including him, but as he is coping by organising and preparing things for his death I guess his family and friends can try to follow his lead.

Joan, I am glad the doctor could not find anything untoward causing your pain. I think that it may be a while before you are completely healed up and perhaps some wind just put a little pressure on the area where the surgery was. I hope it doesn’t recur.

Rosie what a lovely location so close to where you live. I guess you will be glad to have a reasonable time back in Cyprus after your surgery, and not have to be constantly juggling travel and living arrangements for a bit! How lovely to be planning trips in the motorhome too.

Cassie I hope all is well with you.

It is raining here today but was quite bright yesterday and the forecast ahead is sunshine and showers, perfect spring weather really.

Today I will be sowing my first veg seeds under glass, then I should be able to finish the baby blanket. I have two more working weeks then I am taking a week off, I am really looking forward to having some time at home to do my own things and also to rest. I’ll be taking the Easter week off as well, so the next few months should be more relaxing.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies,

Lovewine I am so glad that your friend’s scare turned out to be nothing too untoward what a relief!

I think your neighbour is being very sensible and making the most of the time he has left. Making funeral arrangements now will be so much easier for his wife when the time comes. Hopefully his positive attitude will reward him with some bonus time!

I met my sister yesterday in Hereford for coffee and cake! There had been an fatal incident on the line between Malvern and Colwall so there was chaos at the station with trains being cancelled. I had to get on a later train to Gt Malvern for a bus transfer that never came! The trains were up and running again so it was a case of up and down stairs again crossing the track! I then had to get myself from the station in Hereford to the city centre to our meeting point!😖

Having a quiet day today just spoken to DD on Skype and waiting for other 3 calls later in the day!

It’s very damp here today! 😞

Joan hope you are having a better weekend than the last one.

Cassie hope all is well with you and the family.

Wildpurl have you had time to complete the baby blanket?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies, Rosie what a lovely place to live, so pretty at the side of the canal, but very central for all the amenities.

My friend let me know when she returned from the clinic, thankfully all was ok, i havent spoken to her in detail as she is still so shook up and upset, but it is harmless and not cancer , what a relief!

Rosie, it will be a good thing when your operation is done now, at least you have the summer to look forward to, exciting to be able to plan your trips in the motor home😊.

I have had today off, picked up my mum and sister and we spent the morning in the local market town having a look around the shops, i bought a nice summer t shirt, also a canvas fold up shopping bag from White Stuff , all the proceeds go to a charity in India where the bags are made by girls, this money helps to get them an education, so we all bought one !

Tomorrow, i am going with OH to the cinema to see Bohemian Rhapsody which we didnt catch the first time around.

Spoke with my ill friend earlier, he said he had just returned from arranging his funeral, it was a bit disconcerting to be honest and i was a bit lost for words at first😳, he said it had to be done as hes not going to be around much longer, i asked him what he had arranged and hes to be buried in our village churchyard, close to his mother, father and sister , i really felt so sad for him and his wife and children, i find it hard to believe hes in this situation as he looks so well and working full time and doing everything as usual, but hes very ill..., it certainly puts things into perspective.

Hope everyone is ok, looks like our early lovely spring weather has gone for now, but its very mild here today, sadly rain forecast on sunday,

Have a nice weekend ladies.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Afternoon Ladies,

The photograph was actually the river in Worcester not the canal the canal basin is very close to the river though!

Oh goodness Lovewine I hope your client in Barabados has done some of her laundry before she returns!

Is there any news from your friend? I do hope the news won’t be as bad as feared! 😬

How unfortunate that your FIL’s double knee replacement was cancelled! Fortunately he hasn’t had too long to wait for his new date! I really wish that I could have had both done at the same time I would have been able to be more active by now! Fitzpatrick does bilateral joint replacements on animals!

DH returns on Tuesday and he will probably stay for about 2 weeks. He will then go back to Cyprus for 2 weeks and return again 2 weeks later by then we are hoping I will be fit enough to go away for a few days in the motorhome! Once I go back to Cyprus, around the end of April, I will remain until July 10th when we come back for our summer travels!😁

It’s a grey day here today and it looks here to stay for a while!😒

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello ladies , what a lovely photo of the canal Rosie , it’s been so lovely the last week we have been spoiled !

cassie lovely for a picnic too . A nice idea from GS .

i have been busy but not as bad as I thought , mainly because 2 clients are not organised and haven’t washed their holiday clothes ! The other client has extended her trip in Barbados for another week !!

Rosie I am not surprised you are feeling apprehensive at your surgery , but by your family holiday in the summer you will be hopefully out of pain and able to keep up with your lovely GC !! My FIL was booked in for a double knee replacement on Monday , but it was cancelled the night before and rescheduled to 2nd March - they live in Canada and do both knees at once there 😬

When will DH return ?

My friend who had treatment at same time as me which is how we met is at the Breast clinic as I post this , am very nervous waiting for news from her - I just have a bad feeling the news won’t be good , she has found a lump close to the original one , I am hoping it’s scar tissue or harmless .

Joan I hope you are continuing to recover and no further pain .. have you managed to sit and enjoy the sun ? I actually had an hour in my swinging chair this afternoon !!

Wildpurl hope all is ok with you .

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie how lovely to go for a picnic with GS!😊

The weather has been glorious, even I put on a thinner jacket yesterday as it was 18 here! 😎

Sadly I think this is the last day before the normal temperatures return!

Hope you are all well ladies.

Lovewine are you busy as you feared this week?😬

Tomorrow I have to get to Droitwich on the bus for a Strength and Success workshop prior to joint replacement! I went last time and it was quite helpful! Beginning to feel a little apprehensive now I am into the final week! However I know I can’t go on with the extreme pain! At least I know what to expect!😳🥴

Have a good day ladies!

Good evening ladies, third time lucky I hope, I keep looking my post. I know what you mean about your follow up appointments Rosie you feel in limbo. I think I am meant to be followed up for 10 years due to the target b trial I am on. I went on a lovely picnic with GS yesterday in the sunshine. It was his idea.

Oh dear Joan I am so glad that the doctor couldn’t find anything untoward and do hope that the pain won’t return. Maybe it’s a warning not to run before you can walk!😳

It must have been very frightening for both you and OH!

I am sure that your ED and BIL will be very pleased with their gifts to show your appreciation but as you say wouldn’t expect anything.

I hope that you manage your visit to Penny Brohn  for a catch up and meditation it will do you good!

Take it easy- no more emergencies!🙀

Lovewine you certainly picked a lovely weekend for you dog walk they look so happy!😊 What a suitable named  pub to end up at after a dog walk, The Pug and Greyhound! Love it!🤣

Yes ladies it does feel like a mixed blessing to be off the radar regarding oncology but as Joan quite rightly points out it will be one less medical appointment to attend! 👍

I enjoyed my walk by the river and canal it always gives me a sense of peace and it’s right on the doorstep we really couldn’t be in a more perfect place. So close to the city, river and canal!😊

My friends from upstairs invited me for a coffee just after I had finished one here! But I went anyway!😊

I spent half a day on skype to the family, ending with YS who called just as I was settling down to Call the Midwife! Thank goodness for catch up here!🤣 I had previously tried to watch The secret of Cruise Shops a documentary on 5 but ES Skyped, I tried again on 5+1 and DD Skyped! Never mind more important to talk to the kids! Oh and then there  was DH earlier in the evening!

He has lost a gold signet ring that belonged to his dad and he wore on his little finger! He thinks he lost it when scrumping oranges! He has been back to look underneath the tree and moved the leaves but can’t find it. The trees are on the dog walk he takes and are on a piece of common ground in a residential area! He didn’t want to spent too long or else he would look suspicious!🤭

Off to see the nurse for blood pressure check today, I just hope to goodness it had reduced!🙀

The lovely weather goes on! Hope the week starts well for you all!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good evening ladies, what a glorious weekend its been and so warm, we had a lovely walk yesterday with the dog group, culminating in a cold drink in the garden of a very nice pub called The Pug and Greyhound! Today we sat in the garden for a while, although OH was pottering with his bonsai trees and then we had another walk this afternoon.

Rosie, what good news you have been discharged from Oncology, but as you say a bit of a mixed blessing as it’s reassuring to be checked out regularly even though we hate going ! I must admit i havent been watching the greatest dancer programme, although i do love strictly come dancing💃, am enjoying Masterchef, Endeavour and Baptiste at the moment.

I expect to be very busy at work next week 😬, hope you all enjoyed the sunshine this weekend.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well this weekend hasnt quite worked out as planned! Was supposed to be going to a friends fir lunch today but instead spent 4 hours up at Southmead hospital being checked out. In supermarket with husband yesterday morning I suddenly developed severe abdominal pain, like a very bad stitch. It gradually went when I got back home and lay down with a hot water bottle and paracetemol. We had friends round in the afternoon and I was fine, but when I got up to see them off the pain returned though again it stopped when I lay down. Tried ringing all the hospital  numbers I had but couldnt get a response so husband insisted I call 111, who sent me to an out of hours doctor, who contacted the hospital. Upshot was an appointment at a surgical ‘hot clinic’ this morning. It was more of a ‘tepid clinic’ as it turned out because I wasnt seen for a couple of hours, not surprising because the poor doctor on duty was juggling ward responsibilities as well and calls from A & E. However she was very thorough and although she was unable to establish the cause of the pain it doesn’t seem to be indicative of anything serious. Just hoping it doesnt recur.

Rosie, I can understand your ambivalence about being signed off by oncology; being checked out regularly does provide a degree of security. But it is a positive step as well, after all this time and with all the other appointments you are having its one less. I hope the blood pressure test tomorrow gives you the results you need. I agree that these phone in votes are rather unfair, dependent on how many supporters you have. But I guess it woukd be difficult to police a system where you were disbarred from voting if you had a personal connection with the person involved. Hope you had a good potter along the river.

Cassie, hope you have no further disturbances in the middle of the night, most annoying. Hope you have managed to get out and enjoy the sunshine this weekend and that ED and GS have had a good weekend in Lincolnshire.

Lovewine, how lovely to be able to buy milk straight from the farm. Six pounds is a lot of weight to lose in such a short time, but the chocolate muffins will no doubt help. Hope work isnt too horrendous.

Husband is watching the rugby. I have just ordered a Six Nations Cheese Selection Box to be sent to EDs partner to say thankyou for all the driving he did while I was in hospital. He loves cheese and rugby so hopefully he will enjoy this- theres one cheeses from each country. Sending ED flowers and chocolates. Neither gift can adequately express my thanks for everything they did, and they wont be expecting anything but it seemed important to do something.

I’m hoping to go up to Penny Brohn tomorrow morning. I cant do Qi Gong but I will join the others fir a cup of tea afterwards and then go to meditation.

Wildpurl, I can get a years free subscription to Headspace through Penny Brohn so will check out their sleep tapes.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

I have been discharged from oncology which to me feels like a mixed blessing! He felt a few lymph nodes and said that the blood I had taken at South Bank, the hospital where I had my pre op assessment 2 weeks ago, was ok! He said if I was worried about anything to see doctor who would then refer me again!😬

Lovewine I am loving the sound of your double chocolate muffins!😜 I can’t share your love of fresh milk though! It’s good that there are more outlets where you can get it fresh and you are right it will be much better for you and help build you up! How lovely to sit out with your coffee so early in the year. You have picked a wonderful day to walk with your doggie friends! Hope you find a suitable pub or cafe! 😋

Cassie what a horrible way to be woken up at such an unearthly hour in the morning! I wouldn’t have been able to get back to sleep after such an incident!

I am glad to hear that ED and GS have been away for a couple of days and hope that all will remain calm!

Joan are you venturing out again this weekend?

Wildpurl I expect that you will be happy in your garden!

I will take a potter along the river later!  I am looking forward to watching the final of The Greatest Dancer tonight! I have now caught up with the 2 episodes I missed. A local girl is in one of the 4 final acts in the group KLA. The only thing that annoys me is that it’s not just talent that gets you through but how many people you know that will phone in and vote! I remember once in my school in Cornwall, which was very small, less than 30 pupils, we entered a Christmas Carol  Competition on radio Cornwall and won because of the number of times staff, parents and members of the community phoned in to register a vote! 😳

Must keep calm this weekend blood pressure check on Monday! 😬

Whatever you are doing ladies this weekend enjoy the spring weather!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon Ladies,

I am glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Joan and also have managed a good sleep, I think we all have the same problem with sleeping but it is so much worse when in pain or feeling unwell.

I have had someone ringing on my intercom non stop at 3.15 one early morning this week I think it was probably someone homeless hoping that they could gain entry to the block of flats, I was like a bear with a sore head and really shouted down the phone who are you and what do you want and not surprisingly there was no answer! It than took me hours to go back to sleep then my alarm went off,

Its been all quite on the western front ED took GS to Lincolnshire for a couple of days to see her auntie which in turn gave BF a break hopefully we will have a quiet weekend. No help offered though with her problems she is already doing some art therapy on Fridays which was cancelled this week due to half term but considering this is the 3rd time in a couple of years and the last two she went to a crisis centre its amazing that anyone survives.

My mammogram was last week I have an oncology appointment for the 18/03 originally 10/03 which the hospital cancelled. I am loving the sunshine Ladies x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies, Rosie, i hope by now you are home from your oncology appointment and everything is well ? Always a stressful appointment 😬. The weather has been glorious here again today , in fact i was able to sit outside for an hour and drink my coffee in the sunshine!

In answer to the sleep apps and aids, i am like you and wake up several times during the night , i fall asleep easily , but never stay asleep, i have used a sleep app using calming noises , i found the sea one very good- waves lapping on pebbles! Also a birdsong one too, but come the summer i am deafened by our own in the garden🐦🦉.

Joan, i am so glad you are doing so well, sleeping that well too will help you recover, are you doing anything this weekend or just enjoying the nice weather?

I have had a very nice slow week at work, but i know i will pay the price next week as you rightly predict Joan with the returning clients from holidays.

Today i picked up some proper milk from the local village dairy farm, bought my glass bottles and take them once a week to be filled up with the most wonderful tasting whole milk , the farmers wife who set it up is lovely and very enterprising, Usually see her for a chat , the milk is filled up from a vending machine in its own little shop. After having my awful flu bug i wanted to build my health back up , i am trying to gain the weight i lost , 6 pounds in 3 days 😬, have also made some double chocolate muffins with nutella in the middle and a mini egg on the top🤪, so hoping that will help me with the weight gain !! Am also eating more fruit and veg ! Although thats not as appealing as the cakes.

Wildpurl, it wont be long before you return from work in the daylight, i have noticed a big improvement with dog walking, i can actually see now!

Cassie, i hope you are having a calmer week with work and also with ED , what a worry for you , have you had your results from the mammogram yet? Although i dont think its very long since you went, i waited over 7 weeks for last years results.

Have a  lovely weekend everyone, i am meeting up with 6 of the dog walking group tomorrow afternoon and we are driving to a nice walk which will be even nicer if it stays sunny, followed by either a pub garden or a cafe😊.

Good morning ladies!

We realise when something goes wrong with the forum just what an important part of our lives it is and how 5 years later we are still as strong together!

Joan and Wildpurl I was interested to read about your sleeping apps as I have seen them advertised many times in my Facebook feed! I may have a look into this over the weeekend. Something like this may well help me over the difficult weeks ahead following surgery when I yet again am forced to sleep on my back!🙀 I sleep between 5-7 hours each night but this is not undistubed sleep I am out at least once!

Lovewine have you tried anything like this because I know you are a bit l ike me with your lack of sleeping? Hope your week is still not too hectic?

Cassie is GS on half term this week? Do hope ED is coping and getting some support.🤔

I start my myriad of medical appointments today with oncology! 🙀

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Joan I subscribed to headspace this year as it was 40% off and they have what they call sleepcasts. I mostly don’t have any problem with sleeping but when I travel I don’t sleep well in a strange hotel room, so I tried it on my recent trip to Vienna for work and it was brilliant. I used them also when I was ill recently to help me fall asleep for an afternoon nap. The concept seems very similar to the one you used, it does appear to be very effective. I’m glad you got your 9 hours!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Yes, that was a bit of a pain this morning; it kept telling me I wasn’t authorised to access the page. They were probably deluged with calls-I rang and was told  an engineer was working on it. I texted Lovewine who said you had bedn in touch too.

I wanted to post this morning just to report that I slept for 9 hours last night! OK it was in two hour chunks but still. Nothing to do with sleeping pills though, because I dont have them yet. I used an app called CALM, which is largely about on line meditation but has a selection of ‘sleep stories’. I listened to one on going to bed, and fell asleep almost immediately then put it on again every time I woke up. Hope it wasnt just a coincidence, I shall see tonight.

Rosie, what a shame about just missing your train.  Very frustrating. Looks like you’ve come back to a lovely week.

Wildpurl, I sympathise with all the finishing off work you have to do on your baby blanket. Its the bit I really hate.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Ah at last it seems to be fixed!

Wildpurl I wrote two posts and lost both of them! When I read your post I realised it was an IT issue so I emailed the forum and they replied saying they knew about the fault and had engineers working on it!

Joan that’s great news you managed the theatre and didn’t feel too tired afterwards just be careful that you don’t overdo it too quickly!

I am sorry to hear about your brother and I am sure that he will be anxious waiting for the results. As you rightly said it’s been found early and he may get away with monitoring! My dad had one and he was just monitored, he lived to be 93!

Wilpurl have a wonderful weekend at the yarn festival and gardening!

The baby blanket sounds like it needs the patience of Job!

Lovewine I do hope that all is well with your boiler now and you won’t need to call British Has out again! 😳

I arrived back safely last night at 10.30pm so feeling very tired today. I missed the 7pm train from Temple Meads by a whisker and had to wait 1 hr 40 mins for the next! 🙀

What lovely weather today I have just been down to M@S to get 2 new nighties! People were all peeling their coats off!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone,

i hope your trip went smoothly rosie and you get to your appointments OK.

Joan, I am glad you enjoyed your theatre trip and did not find it too tiring

well done on getting the grass cut Lovewine!

cassie I hope things have calmed down for you and your boss has got the message!

i have had problems posting for the last few days, I think it should be OK now, it seems to part log me out after a day and then will not accept my post and asks me to log in but appears to be already logged in, so I can’t do anything! I have logged out and then back in again and I hope that fixes it. If you can read this post then it has worked!

I did get into the garden last Sunday which was nice, but during the working week I still get home after dark, so I don’t get much benefit from good weather at this time of year, apart from being able to walk in the sunshine at lunchtime, which is good.

The baby blanket is almost complete but I do have to sew in hundreds of ends and then crochet a border, so not quite there yet!

This weekend I am going to a yarn festival called Unravel, it is on every year and is always fun, and should be able to do some more gardening.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Managed the theatre trip on Saturday and not nearly as tired as I expected. On the basis of that, went over to see the GCn on Sunday afternoon. At home all day yesterday but today out for coffee with one of my colleagues from the pier, then a two hour work related telephone conference. Spent the rest of the afternoon on the sofa watching TV!  Had another bad night, so decided to give in and ask doc for sleeping pills. SIL rang this morning to say my brother has been diagnosed with an aortic aneurism- following a routine scan offered to men over 65 in their area. Fortunately it isnt a large one and although he wont  find out till  next week what the plan is it will probably be monitoring rather than urgent op. Hes in a bit of a heap, which I can understand, but on the positive side without the scan the first he might have known about it was when it burst, as happened with my father.

Lovewine, very impressed with the lawn cutting. Ours is looking rather shaggy. The lovely weather does provide an incentive. Glad you are having an easier week, you dont seem to have had many of those recently. I suspect, though, that the returning holidaying clients will bring back more work.

Rosie, hope your sterling efforts to reduce your blood pressure pay off. Also that you have a good flight and onward journey.

Cassie, hope your week is proving less stressful both in terms of family and work. Wildpurl, hope all is well with you. I expect you have been taking advantage of the good weather to get out into your garden.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

Lovewine great news on getting the lawn cut, the first cut is always the best feels like spring is on the doorstep! Good news that you are not too busy this week also! It seems the UK is in for some very pleasant temperatures!

We have a blood pressure machine here but it is useless so I will have to wait until I go to doctors on Monday to have it checked with the nurse! I have reduced salt intake, alcohol consumption( that’s only reduced!) and tried to eat more tomatoes and bananas. I have only taken Paracetemol and not ibuprofen, not that any pain killer works and I am constantly dragging my left leg around! 😢

I fly tomorrow to Bristol so at least it will be a straight through train! Then just a 5 min taxi drive!

I probably won’t sleep,as it will be too quiet! 😳 No coughing and no barking dog at 6 am either ours or the one across the road!

I am meeting the librarian again today for coffee at Cap St George and going to a musical recital at school this afternoon. I have done most of the chores changed the bed, washing on just waiting for it to finish before I go out. DH was out at an 8.00am meeting.

Hope the week has started well for you all.

Morning ladies , Joan I hope you enjoyed your theatre trip on Saturday and were not too tired , definitely good to get out 😊. Don’t blame you in booking a holiday , we all need something to look forward too.

Rosie you will be kept busy with all your appointments when you return 😬, hope they all go smoothly ! How is your blood pressure now ? Probarly been quite high with DH coughing and sneezing 🙄😲!!

I have had to call British Gas out twice in 4 days yet again - they finally replaced the fan yesterday on the boiler.

Fortunatrly i am fairly quiet at work as some clients have gone on holiday !

Cassie how are things with you ? Hopefully ED is doing ok and doesn’t have to wait too long for some help, I suspect though it will be a long wait . My uncle had several breakdowns a few years ago and tried to drown himself amongst other attempts and has never managed to source help yet , since emerged as a boy he had been abused by a trusted family friend who used to take him to the football matches at the large stadiums .

Wildpurl hope you are ok , I actually cut my grass yesterday as it had grown so much !!

Have a good day ladies 😊

Joan I do hope that you managed your theatre visit although you will have found it tiring you will be glad that you achieved it and as you say helps you to feel a sense of normality! Could you take a stronger painkiller at night to help you sleep if this is when you get the most discomfort?

Glad to hear that your cleaners are working out OH will get use to the idea!

Well done on booking a holiday definitely a very good idea to have something to look forward to! 😀

No DH is not coming back with me he returns on March 5th the night before my hospital admission!

Too much to sort out this end with architects who are ineffective with the Town Planning etc!😬

The weather here yesterday was crazy! I walked the dog in a winter coat and got wet by lunchtime we ate out lunch outside in the sun and in the afternoon it became very cold and windy!

We had a good evening out with our friends, they are returning to Cyprus in September as she is  having extensive dental treatment here! They are hoping that the sale of their property goes through here by the end of this month so will have stay in a hotel when they come back!

Lovewine have you managed to get out to tidy the garden?

Cassie hope all is quiet on the western front!

Wildpurl have you finished the baby blanket yet?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie , I hadnt realised your ED was having to deal with her BFs problems on top of her own, maybe its just as well he has moved out even if he is still in her life. I hope she is feeling less overwhelmed now and accordingly that you are getting some relief, even though the worry will still be there. Well done for speaking out to your manager, your work does seem to place unreasonable demands on you. Are you looking after GS for some if the half term?

Lovewine, I do hope its a false alarm for your friend and that the lump is something benign. I’m not surprised you felt unable to go into town shopping, with this news, on top of the ongoing distressing situation with your local friend. Well done him, though, for making the most of the time he has left, its a very courageous approach to take. lets hope he continues to have no side effects from the chemo.

Rosie, its good that OH is recovering. Is he coming back with you next week. Sounds like you are going to be busy with medical appointments.

I am continuing to make a good recovery and have managed to walk outside a little further every day. The main problem is ongoing pain around the ribs which is particularly bad at night.  I went to the GP  about it yesterday to check it out and he is pretty certain that its the effect of having CPR. He reckons  it will take about 3 months to resolve. Paracetemol and Volterol dull it a bit, I dont want to take anything stronger.

Today is going to be a bit of a challenge: we have a pre booked theatre visit in Bath which I am going to attempt. It doesnt involve much walking, but its about anhours drive, followed by a bus from the park and ride, then sitting in the theatre for an hour and a half. I shall be exhausted by the time we get back but it will be good to get out and do something normal. The cleaning service started yesterday, two very nice youngish women who whizzed around and did everything I had asked for in three quarters of an hours. OH very twitchy, keeps stressing that its only for a couple of months. That battle remains to be fought.

As soon as I had the good news that no further treatment is needed I booked a holiday for September. Its a trip to Istanbul by train, following the route of the Orient Express, with a day in Budapest. Its being run by a guy who came to do a 6 week course on Capital cities of the Roman Empire. Unfortunately I missed most of the course because of treatment but I was gutted that I might not be able to go, So something to look forward to and give me an additional incentive to get fit,

Hope you all have something nice planned for the weekend.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!

Lovewine how distressing for your friend to have found another lump after 5 years! I do hope that it is something much less sinister than she suspects and that she doesn’t have to wait too long for the results!😬

Your neighbour is being very sensible and has adopted a very strong attitude to his condition and it is very good news to hear that the chemo tablets aren’t making him feel ill. Let’s hope he gets the extra time with his family. I can understand your mood given the news around you it’s so easy to bring ourselves down! Hope that you get into the garden and it makes you feel better. I always makes one feel calmer and uplifted by nature and the sun on your face!

Cassie hope that you have something planned for the weekend for yourself!

Joan are you able to go out now on short trips walking or in the car?

Wildpurl I am sure that you and OH will be in the garden with a milder weekend?

Yesterday wasn’t as bad as forecast yesterday! It rained in the morning and I had a big cardigan over my top and thick leggings on and in the afternoon I was sat out in the sun and it was burning my legs through the thick leggings! 😳 The sky is dark this morning with a rainbow over the sea! 🌈

It looks more settled from tomorrow onwards and warmer!

Tonight we are going for a meal with our friends from the Isle of Man at the traditional tavern at the top of the village of Peyia. They have sold their house here and have been moving their personnel effects and are leaving on March 1st! I return on Wednesday for a host of medical appointments starting on Friday with oncology!😏

DH seems to be on the turn thank goodness and we had a cough free night last night! He has been ill the whole time I have been back! 😬

Ladies whatever you are doing this weekend make the most of it! 😀

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie what a lot to deal with in EDs and BFs lives .. poor man obviously needs help with his problems and your ED must struggle to help him and deal with her own worries too - Rosie is spot on with urging you to offload on the forum , I know we can’t do much other than offer you support and somewhere to voice your worries . I don’t blame you either for standing your ground with the extra work , you do seem to do more than you should at work 😏, I do hope you can get out in the sunshine and fresh air over the weekend even for a short walk , I do find it clears the mind even just a little . Take care of yourself too , you do a lot for others !🌸💐

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie I am not surprised that you lost your cool with your manager she would have been the last staw given all that is happening in your life!

It sounds as if BF indeed has some deep rooted issues that he doesn’t know how to cope with!

All we can offer is that you come here to shout out about your frustrations and hopefully it will help you to know that we all care about you and the issues that you are having with your ED.

My niece took an over dose after a relationship breakdown a few years ago now, she took 76 paracetamol and was found unconscious! She is an only child and my sister constantly worries about her even though she is 34 and has a job and is just about to buy a property. She is always popping on the train to see her at weekends to gauge how thing are. It is always at the back of her mind, so I do understand the anxiety it is causing you.

I do hope like Joan and Lovewine that some medical help can be sorted and that things will stabilise for you once again!

I do hope that you will have some time for yourself this weekend! Thinking of you! X💐

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies,

I have been frantic and as usual my manager seems to put even more on you when there is a crisis, I lost it with her on Monday and said if she did not stop piling more and more onto me I would go home.

I don't know exactly how much medication ED took or what it was but the was about 12-15 empty tablet strips on the stretcher in the ambulance, probably everything she had in the house. BF seems to have taken all of his things and moved out but seems to be around still. He has a lot of problems of his own and I think that was how the row/bust up happened. He seems not to have anyone to talk to about his problems he lost his dad a few years ago and on the night it all kicked of apparently saw a man who looked just like him and said to my daughter he felt like he wanted to go over and kiss him on the head, god only knows what is going on in his head. He has a older sister who is an addict and has had her 3 children removed 2 are with his mum and one with an aunt. Mum seems very cold and he says she would be no help to speak to, his younger brother pretty much the same. He has been used to pick up children and decorate even when exhausted and ED organised a weekend away with a hot tub as an early valentines treat to get away but traveling seems to have become a problem with him too. ED has encouraged him to seek help but they are providing CBT for the travel phobia but that is the symptom not the cause. I know I work for the NHS and it is very stretched but whoever assessed him did not do a good job of it. I feel sorry for them both.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Cassie I am so sorry you have had all this worry to deal with and such a scare for you too , you must have been out of your mind with worry - hoping ED gets the help she needs .

The mammogram sounds awful , they are painful but that is dreadful to feel that much pain

Rosie I was thinking yesterday it must be DDs friends funeral soon😢, what a dreadful day for your DD and the poor ladies family and friends .

I had a text from a lady I went through treatment with who lives in the county , we had our operations on the same day , chemo etc at same time - she asked me to ring her as soon as i could which I immediately did - she was crying and very upset , she has found another lump just below the original cancer. She went to the GP who has sent her as an emergency back to the Breast clinic, I am keeping everything crossed it’s a harmless  lump.. she found the lump 5 years to the day since she found her original one .

Anyway I am feeling quite deflated with that news and of course the ongoing treatment of our very good friend who I see most days - he has bought a brand new car which is coming on Saturday , his mortgage and life assurances have been cashed in , so I don’t blame him enjoying his last few months while he can - he’s fit and well at the moment ( to look at on  the outside ) the chemo pills he takes daily are not giving him side effects either , when I look at him I can’t believe he’s so ill 🙁.

I was going into the city today to find a birthday present for my niece , but I must admit I can’t be bothered with all that’s going on - so online shopping will do !

Hope Cassie your weekend is calmer , Joan have you anything planned ? Are you able to do short trips out ?

Wildpurl , think we are having a mild weekend with 16 degrees so I may do some tidying up in the garden !

Rosie , hope the sunshine appears again soon and you won’t need your warm cardigans 🌞!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

Gosh Cassie I see what you mean about traumas! 😬🙀

I gather for now that BF is back on the scene and helping out with GS. It seems that GS was spared by her thoughtless action as he was with you whilst she was away in a hotel with BF. The sickness would have certainly been from the overdose. Do you know what and how much she took? Cassie I am so sorry that you have had such a frightening ordeal. Form the sound of things it sounds as if the dust has settled for the moment. I do hope that you have a restful stress free weekend! 😏

We has quite a bit of rain yesterday and it is forecast on and off until Monday! I had to wear my one and only thick jumper I have here I should have bought a couple more back! 🥶

It’s DD’s friends funeral today!😢

Friday today ladies hope you all have a good weekend!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Oh Cassie, what an awful time you have been having. Big hugs.  The mammogram sounds horrible. We all know they are really uncomfortable but this was clearly of a different order. And such a worry about your ED. Its interesting though that while she may not have wanted you in the ambulance, it was you she called, twice. You are clearly her rock, even though at times she might not want to acknowledge that. Thank heavens she didnt do herself any serious damage. It also sounds like BF is sticking by her, despite the row which precipitated her action.  I hope she gets some professional help as well though. Thinking of you.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Evening Ladies,

I had my yearly mammogram today and it was incredibly painful, the worst yet my ribs and boobs feel bruised they did 5 in all as one was not satisfactory it was so bad it made my eyes water.

ED went away for the weekend and had some kind of a bust up with BF, I had a call in the early hours of Saturday morning which I missed and then a hysterical ED on voicemail saying she did not know where BF was and her phone had stopped working so she had no way to contact him or me. I googled the hotel and rang her room back, I could get no sense from her, except she was leaving in a cab to come home at 4.30am i the morning. She would not listen to reason about waiting until the morning about her safety or to go to bed and travel in the morning. The long and the short of it was while I dropped GS off with his other nan, did shopping for my friend for the weekend, ED took a huge overdose then rang me on the house phone to say she needed help, I did not know what with. The phone was then hung up, I could not get through until an ambulance man answered. I got a cab to ED but could not get passed the intercom door until another resident let me in and then I could not find anyone home, nightmare I decided to go back down to ambulance and luckily they were there, they asked me to get in the front and ED went berserk saying she wanted to get out, which they let her and it seems she did not want me there so I was asked to leave of course I did because I wanted her to go to hospital to get help. I have never felt so helpless.  ED got home to her flat after midnight and has felt ill since vomiting and having stomach pains so I called every couple of hours to make sure she was OK it was difficult to know if it was the overdose or a bug but very stressful while at work. I am not sure how it will all turn out but ED seems a little better today she has been out of the house at least, BF took GS to school Tues and Weds ED took him today.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

Cassie I hope your traumas settle down soon! Life isn’t very easy sometimes. Wishing you a better day!

Lovewine thanks for info on lipomas I am hoping these are what she has. Have discovered 2 at the moment. She seems healthy apart from being overweight! 😳 She will be 9 in May!

What a frustration for your ES and DIL with the purchase of their first house they perhaps need to push their solicitor for a completion date! I had to ring up nearly daily to push both our Cyprus sale and the UK sale it is a very stressful time for them!

Lovely to see the lambs! We had a beautiful day yesterday and my friend and I sat outside at the very picturesque Cap St George drinking caramel latte! 😎☕️ We had a storm overnight with heavy rain and we now have 3 rainy days sunny again from Monday onwards! What a difference! 😔

Joan hope you are seeing an improvement each day.

Wildpurl how’s the baby blanket coming on?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies , I am stilk smiling at your good news Joan 😊!

Rosie , my dog was 8 when he died from lymphoma , my older dog is nearly 13 and she has movable lumps on her chest and legs , they are something called Lipomas which are harmless fatty tissue , if the lumps are moveable they are usually harmless !

Although one of my clients I saw yesterday was tearful as her older Westie dog was put to sleep on Friday - didn’t want to eat or walk and had a pot belly - after investigations it was discovered the spleen had ruptured maybe due to a tumour on it , he was only ill for 3 days which was a blessing - poor Alfie... he was 12 so a good age .

Enjoy your sunshine with your coffee!😊

ES and DIL are becoming very frustrated waiting for their seller to move , that’s the only thing holding the move up , fingers crossed before the spring they can get moving !

On my delivery yesterday I saw the first lambs of the year !🐑🌷

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies!

Joan we were all thrilled to hear your news last night and as Lovewine said you can now plan some theatre trips! Did you sort out a cleaner?

Lovewine it’s always so lovely to have a visit from your children and then it feels so empty when they have gone. As long as YS is healthy and happy you can relax!

How is the purchase of ES and DIL’s house going?

How old was your lovely dog that got cancer? We have found a couple of moveable lumps on our dog that could be fatty tissue but everyone comments on the weight she has put on.😬 We cut down her food before I went away at Christmas. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain. But she is funny about walking on the tiles inside the property. This has got worse since I have been away she won’t go into the kitchen area past her bowl! She has always worried about wet tiles outside as they do become slippery and her paws splay out! The inside ones are slippery when wet I can only assume that DH and her arrived back from a soggy walk and she slipped inside which has made her cautious! She walks fine outside on a walk!

I am hoping DH has turned the corner today although he still has a very nasty cough!

I am meeting our librarian for coffee today at Cap St George and it is sunny again today! 😎

Morning ladies , I also find the new forum very frustrating too , when I have limited time to post I have found myself not doing so , simply because it’s not easy to do so Like before and I run out of time !

Rosie how nice to be able to sit outside , there are early signs spring is coming , but warm sunshine would be very welcome .

YS had a nice relaxing weekend and seems well, very busy but that’s good . Feel a bit deflated now of course .

Work very busy yesterday and had a couple of my occasional people - all with piles of bedlinen !!🙀

Joan I hope you are recovering well at home and your OH is also doing ok,

Wildpurl , glad you are feeling better .

Cassie , expect its half term coming up for GD , I know the children here are off next week - always difficult for the parents ! 😏

Well I better meet my dog walking friends ( 6.50 a.m) 😬 and confirm again I am not a robot !! Have a good day ladies !

Good Morning Ladies!

Cassie we all share your frustrations the whole reason of changing the site was to improve the forum on our phones! What I hate is that you don’t have a quick reply option when you can scroll through the latest posts and make a response to all those that had posted since your last post!

Hopefully it will get sorted out in the not too distant future!😳

Lovewine I except that you were sad to see YS go back I hope that he will be back to visit you soon!

Joan I hope that you are continuing to get stronger and that you and OH are coping now ED has gone back.

Wildpurl I expect that you are itching to get back into the garden. Before I left the UK I saw many signs of spring- snowdrops , daffodils and crocuses. 😄

DH has a better night but has a streaming nose now in addition to the cough! 😬

We managed to eat our lunch outside yesterday after a cloudy start the sun broke through which was uplifting to the spirits. It went cool at 5 when the sun went down! It’s going to be sunny again today we have a site meeting for most of the morning but hopefully some relaxation time in the afternoon as the rest of the week doesn’t look too brilliant!😔

Hope the week starts well for all of you!
