Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Lovewine, well done with the peacemaking. Pity you had to work yesterday, and go out delivering in the horrid weather. Hope you have had a restful day today. What a worry for your friend getting the appt letter so quickly, I hope it isnt bad news.

Wildpurl, sounds like you are going to make productive use of your time off. Hope you get to have some downtime too.

Cassie, how are things with you?

The pacemaker check on Friday was fine, all working and next check up in a year. They said I was OK to drive so went out this afternoon to remind myself how to do it, in preparation for driving on the motorway up to Penny Brohn tomorrow when I am hoping to resume Qi Gong and meditation. Tiday we had planned to take the grandchildren to Chepstow Castle -GS is doing a school project on castles- but the weather forecast for this weekend was so bad we cancelled-they dudnt know of the plans so wouldnt be disappointed. As it turned out this morning was really sunny but made the most of it by doing a bit more gardening and going for a walk. Also made two large pans of soup-cauliflower and Brie, having picked up the biggest cauliflower I have ever seen at the supermarket on Friday, on offer too. Roasted the rest of it for dinner tonight.

Rosie, hope the coming week doesnt drag too much for you and that you get some visitors. Its good that the physio was pleased with how youre doing although I know how frustrating it must be for you. I dont envy you tackling Birmingham station. Its horrid even when one is fit and they have the annoying habit of changing platforms at the last minute.

Rosie, I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had distressing news, particularly when OH is about to go back to Cyprus and you still are in the early stages of recovering from your op.  You know the thoughts of us all are with you and sending you strength.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies! It is a much nicer day today rosie, I have some washing on ready to go on the line and it is nice to have some sun and not to have the incessant wind. OH has had to work this weekend, luckily from home, so is very tired and stressed, today is a rest day though.

I will be repainting the ceiling in our smallest spare room tomorrow so we have to clear that out and get it ready later on. It is having a refurb to provide extra storage space as there is stuff under and behind the bed at the moment.

You are doing well with your recovery rosie, it seems to be a long and painful experience but I am sure will be worthwhile once you are healed. You have got yourself well organised with things to do while you are on your own, and by the sounds of it are a regular on the local radio station! It’s a pity I don’t live closer or I could have come round for a coffee while I am off next week!  Hopefully some of your visitors will return during the week.

I hope you all have good Sundays

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

At last ladies a better day!

LovewIne you must be so relieved when you looked out of the windows this morning to see blue sky and sun!😁

I am glad that the muffins gained you entry to visit your neighbour I am sure that they will appreciate that you care. Let’s hope he can return to work soon and enjoy a further stretch of normality!

As for your dog walking friend let’s just hope that it’s a routine follow up after the scan although the letter was very snappy afterwards!😳 Hopefully it’s an inner ear problem and nothing more sinister!

We have friends from upstairs coming for coffee this am and our friends from Bredon coming this afternoon to visit before DH goes back tomorrow! He will be away for 2 weeks. I am hoping to be well enough to go up to DD on the train for Mother’s Day weekend! I have to change at Birmingham where I am known to get lost!🤣 My sister will meet with me next Saturday and hopefully the two lots of visitors will arrange something today for in the week! I will be very tired I have a new puzzle to do but can’t sit at the table for long spells yet!😳 The radio, my puzzle book ,iPad and the TV in the evening will all keep me going! I listen to the local radio all day and often take part in their quizzes and have been interviewed on the phone 3 times for a live morning show! They talk about different topics each morning and encourage people to take part! I certainly do not take part in the BREXIT debates of which there are many!😳

I wasn’t too good last night after the car journey to MIL’s which is about 30 mins! I had missed a dose of painkillers and not used my ice! I need to ice every 2 hours for 20 mins.

Lovewine I hope that your FIL is improving, it is a very slow, painful process! My brain is wanting to do things and then I get out on my crutches and realise that it is going to take much longer! 😬Hopefully Ladies you can all enjoy a better day today! 🙂

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies, Rosie, i am sorry to hear you have had upsetting news . You are doing well with your recovery, i hope the leaking wound clears up and the staples can be removed.

Thankyou for the advice regarding my ill friend with cancer, i made him some muffins and went for a chat for an hour, walking on crutches has helped with the pain in his feet, but its hard to watch him deteriorate. Am hoping he can return to work soon as hes happier with a form of normality.

My dog walking friend had her brain mri scan last sunday - she has had issues with vertigo and sickness, she is a bit worried as she received a letter 2 days after with an appointment for monday, hoping its nothing sinister.

Have smoothed OHs annoyance over his father in the nursing home😮, have explained the difficulties of nursing him at home for his mother, am always the peacemaker as he has a strained relationship with his parents😬.

Its incredibly windy here today, had a horrid walk early this morning as the wind was blowing me backwards for most of it! I had to work this morning and also had to deliver back too, had a client who returned from a holiday in South Africa, with loads of ironing😳.

Joan i am glad you and OH are doing well, hope you can drive soon, also all goes well at your follow up appointment.Have you been to the theatre this week? Also when will you be able to resume your monday activities? I expect you are missing it.

Wildpurl, enjoy your week off work , i hope the weather improves for you so you can enjoy some outdoor time .

Cassie, i hope you are ok and having some time to relax at the weekend.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies!

Another blustery day I do feel for you Lovewine having to get up and walk the dogs! Where is the lovely spring weather we had in February?

Lovewine is there any news on your friend/ neighbour with cancer that you were worried about?

Joan hope that your 6 weekly check went ok. I believe it is the doctor that has to say that you are fit to drive as each case is individual and could invalidate your insurance if you drive before you have been given the all clear. The norm for a major op is 6 weeks but can be longer.

I had my first physio appointment yesterday and she was quite pleased with my progress!

I am hoping to have staples removed on Wednesday but part of the wound is still leaking.

We are going to see MIL this afternoon for a couple of hours.

I am feeling a bit distraught by some family news that I was made aware of last night. Don’t really want to go into it on a public site not ready to share it and am hoping things will work out! Will enlighten you when we meet up! 😒

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

5Rosie, what a good idea about the plastic bag over the foot. I sympathise with the difficulty of puuting them on, as well as the discomfort from wearing them OH having been ‘nurse’ to OH after two hip operations. I’m sorry youre still in that awful bind between taking strong painkillers and having severe side effects or suffering the pain on something less. Your OH has clearly been an enormous help, not only cooking meals but clearing up afterwards. Mine was very good at clearing up but his cooking skills did not improve. Well done for getting out to the cinema but I’m not surprised you were exhausted. Its strange, though, isnt it, that sleep can still elude us even when we are really tired. The last few nights have been much better for me although I am still resorting to the Calm sleep stories in my ipad in the middle of the night, but no longer having to take sleeping pills.

Lovewine, good news that your son has a date for his move. It would be great to get in before his birthday. What a chapter of accidents you had before your dog walk, hope you have managed to get your clothes clean. I wouldn’t worry about being over intrusive with your ill neighbour; from my own experience it is lovely to know that people care. I like Rosie’s idea of taking something nice to eat though. I can understand your OHs response to his father being put in a nursing home to recover from his op. But as Rosie, says, it is quite a task looking after someone recovering from a knee oo and at 76 she may not have as much energy. Whatever the reason may be perhaps it is better to be looked after by someone who is professionally trained and being paid to provide good care than by a perhaps resentful amateur.

Wildpurl, very impressed that you are making your own buttons as well as everything else. When I used to dressmake, many years ago, I used to cover buttons in matching material using a metal base but you are taking it much further. We did manage to get some gardening done last weekend in between the showers and hope to do some more this. I dont think theres any chance of persuading OH to employ a gardener though, he’s only just tolerating having a cleaner.

Things are going pretty well here, with neither of us having and medical emergencies. OH’s vertigo has been much better although we are waiting to hear from the GP whether she is going to refer him to a specialist. I have an appt tomorrow to have the pacemaker checked. Itsnow 6 weeks on from botb ops so Should now be OK to drive but haven’t heard back from the DVLA so not sure if I can- their web site isnt clear on this. Will see if I can get any guidance tomorrow on this.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ,

Lovewine I am so sorry about your start to the day yesterday and do hope that this mornings dog walk won’t be as eventful! Did you manage to get your coat and trousers clean hopefully they were old ones?🙀 Dogs can be very strong when they have a bee in their bonnet!

I can see why you are concerned about your terminally ill neighbour. How about making a batch of your yummy muffins and taking them across? I am sure that the children would appreciate them and it would find away in to see if their is anything further you can do?🤔

I can see why your MIL has put FIL in a nursing home although I do hope it was by mutual agreement! 😳TKR patients are demanding for at least 2 weeks! I can just about get myself washed and dressed. You have to wear very tight compression stockings for 6 weeks on both legs! Last time I was given full length ones but they gave me knee length ones this time as they cut into the top of my legs and rolled down and acted like a tourniquet!🙀 They are a nightmare to get on and off! I found a plastic bag over the foot helped as they have a hole under the toe area you can pull it out from! DH nearly did his back in last year!

At least they can control her pain meds which is the hardest part for me! I either feel nauseous or have hellucinations or feel as if a steam roller has run over my knee! 😳 I was reading on a forum for TKR that someone had just had their second one done and it was much easier! But she was taking liquid morpheme and tramadol, two very strong pain killers! I just can’t handle the very strong ones!😒

I haven’t managed to get any meals yet or make a cup of tea, I am about to make my first as DH is sleeping. He has been very good though and got meals, washed up and cleared the kitchen! I will miss him next week when he has to return. I will need to be able to cope with everything by then! Even the blood thinning daily injections which I hate!😳

Anyway if you can explain some of the issues to OH maybe he won’t think so quite so badly of MIL!

Hope you have a much better day today although the weather is still a bit wild!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies , its dreadful here again today and the wind is awful !

Rosie , you are doing very well 👍😊, glad you got out to the cinema , although tiring it’s nice to get out , I loved the film and thought the actor who played Freddie Mercury was very good and also the Bryan May one who played Barnabys sidekick too in midsummer murders ! I particularly enjoyed the live aid opening and closing of the film and I felt very sad for Freddie 😔.

ES told us it looks like it will be 28th March they get the keys - the day before his birthday ! ! OH will book some time off to help them move and I will help too .

FIL had his knee surgery last Friday and only had one done in the end , MIL told us he was transferred to a nursing home just around the corner from their home on Monday - I was puzzled by this and asked her if that’s the procedure in Canada and she said no it is because she doesn’t want to look after him so is paying a lot for a convalescent home 😏, I am not surprised at all as she doesn’t do very much at home 🙄, he’s a very healthy 76 year old as is she !! OH just rolled his eyes and tutted ! ☺️

I am  concerned about my terminally ill friend as he’s not been to work this week neither as his wife and I did notice them returning from hospital on Monday and he was using crutches as I know he’s really having pain with his feet caused by the chemo tablets , I don’t want to intrude but want to help if I can .

i had a rubbish start to my day .. rushed to meet all the other ladies at 7.00 a.m and realised the wind had blown rain into my wellies which were soaked inside , had to wear walking boots instead and then rushed to the fields , walked into the field with Kipp still on his lead only to meet a man with a dog Kipp really dislikes , he pulled and took me off balance and I fell over in a very undignified fashion in front of him ( who was very concerned ) and all the other ladies 😌, the worse thing was though I landed in some dog poo so that was all over my trousers and coat 😬🙀, managed to wipe most of it off but certainly lost any dignity I might have had !!!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

Lovewine I am glad to hear that DIL has informed your that they will soon have a date for exchange!

Once this has happened it will be less stressful! ☺️

It is still very unpleasant for dog walking and I don’t envy you! 🙀

I thought I could run before I walked yesterday and booked for what must be one of the final showings of Bohemian Rhapsody at the local cinema!

I didn’t go out yesterday as the viewing was at 7.45 last night and wanted to keep my strength. DH cooked us a meal before we when out. As we were leaving he said,”let me drop you off in the car and I will bring it back and walk over”!

What a good job he did, walking to screen 4 was enough of a challenge with 2 crutches!

Fortunately there were only about 8 people in their so I could move the arm on the chair and put my leg up on the next seat! I did walk out after an hour to the toilet for a stretch. You were right Lovewine it was very well done and we both enjoyed it and as you said you forget how good the music was! DH ended up going back for the car, which only took him 5 mins, to get me home! I just would never have made the walk even one way!😳 I was exhausted when I got back but couldn’t sleep! About 3 hrs on and off! I am not a back sleeper! 😬

Its a bit touch and go controlling the pain without codeine! 🙀😬😳😫

Lovewine did your FIL have his op?

Joan hope you are continuing to make good progress, are you still having your cleaner?

Wilpurl I think it’s next week you are taking off? Let’s hope the weather improves!😏

Cassie hope all is calm with you and family?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good evening ladies , Rosie you are doing very well with your recovery - I think the hallucinations are probarly the codeine ,my dad had the same thing last year 😬

DIL texted me today and they hope to get a date to exchange very shortly , you are right it is very stressful moving house !

Wildpurl , the recipient of the beautiful blanket will be delighted I am sure , and how wonderful to be able to craft your own wool and buttons , will you be spending some time on your projects next week?

i have been busy today but not as bad as last week , it’s been very chilly and windy all day , not pleasant for dog walking at all.

cassie , how is your friend with Purdy getting on now ? Hope things with ED have settled down too.

Joan how are you getting on ? Hopefully able to drive by now 😏.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies! Lovewine was I do hope that your ES and DIL’s house will exchange soon as you say it would be lovely to be in for her birthday! Do they ring the solicitor most days? That’s what I ended up doing to get things finalised it’s a very frustrating time. Our friends are selling their house in Bredon and want to move nearer Rugby to one of their daughters and family. The sale fell through a month ago when their chain broke down they have just completed the chain again but lost the house they originally wanted. An offer has been accepted on another house that has no chain, so they are at the on the starting blocks again! They say if this breaks down again they are staying where they are it is too stressful! 😬

How is your FIL getting on?

Wildpurl I don’t suppose you managed to hand any sheets out yesterday they would have taken off! 😳 I watched paper bags blow three stories high! 😮

Joan hope OH is feeling more confident that he won’t have a reoccurrence and that he will be spared a visit to a specialist!

I am waiting to ring the doctor’s surgery re pain relief! I was sent out to take paracetamol, with codeine and voltarol suppositories!

I have felt very nauseous and had hallucinations!😳🙀

My knee is very swollen and bruised and I haven’t been out of the apartment yet! I had big ideas that I would be walking to the bench at the river today! I may get to the bench by the canal just the next block down more realistically! Won’t be hitting town anytime soon! 😞DH is here for another week so hopefully I will be feeling a bit better by then!

Cassie hope all is well with you we haven’t managed to get to the cinema for a while hopefully when DH comes back on April 1st. for 3 weeks hopefully we may manage to get there!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning ladies, wild and windy here at the moment, but quite bright and sunny. I am waiting for the wind to ease to put my sheets and towels on the line. It should quieten down later and I hope to get out to do some of the much needed weeding, as you say, Joan. Maybe you would find it helpful to have a gardener every couple of weeks to keep on top of that stuff and then you can enjoy the more creative parts?

I am shortly off to the post office to send the baby blanket on its way to its new owner and then will be pottering and catching up around the house until this afternoon. I have a frantically busy week next week because I am supporting a bid and then I am on leave the following week, so am trying to get everything done by then, which of course will not happen. I have recently learned to make buttons out of polymer clay, my second try was to match some wool I am going to knit into a cardigan and I am so pleased with them I would like to cast on right away! Not that I need any more crafting hobbies...

Glad to hear you are both making progress Joan and Rosie. Having your husband unwell must be very stressful for you both, Joan.

lovewine I hope you have ironed your way out from under the mountain of ironing and are able to relax a bit over the weekend.

cassie I hope all is well with you

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Hello ladies, Rosie , good to hear from you, hope the wooziness has started to go now, how long do you think you will be in hospital for? My FIL has had a double knee replacement today, we are 6 hours ahead as they live in Canada so we haven’t t spoken to MIL yet but will do tomorrow. Hope you start to feel better tomorrow. Joan, i think your post has made it, i hope you managed your photograph, also hope you dont have to wait too long to drive, expect you are more than ready to get about yourself! I have had a busy week, the Barbados lady had as i thought, lots of linen shirts ! I have had most of today off, been to the dairy, also to the petstore for dog food. Then some spring cleaning. ! ES and DIL are still waiting to complete on their new home, they hope to be in by the end of march, its ESs 30th birthday on the 29th so it would be a great birthday present. Wildpurl and Cassie, hope you are ok , the weather isnt going to be that good so not much activity outside!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

I appear to have lost a longish post. Either that or it will appear several times. Most important thing is to send best eishes for a speedy recovery Rosie, hope the wooziness is wearing off, the blood pressure stabilised and the wound less oozy, so that you csn grt home soon.

Member

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Rosie, good to hear from you. Hope the wooziness wears off soon and your blood pressure stabilises. I imagine they will be getting you mobilised pretty quickly so you can get home as soon as possible.

Lovewine, hope the Barbados load hasnt proved as hefty as you feared. What a worry for your friend, has she had any news yet?

Wildpurl, as others have said, lovely blanket. You have so much patience. Well done for getting your seeds in. I am increasingly aware of how much needs to be done in our garden, expecially in the way of clearing dead stuff and weeding, the mild wet winter has been a bonanza time for them.

Cassie, I rather agree with you about The Favourite, brilliant acting but...

OH is much better than he was but still feels on the edge of a recurrence. He saw the GP this morning who wanted to try a  manoevre which can help with vertigo (it seems to involve rotating your head through different positions) but no good. She is rather mystified so he may need to be referred to a specialist. Our various medical issues have certainly pushed up the cost of our travel insurance.

I’m having ‘fun’ today trying to take a picture on my ipad of my operation scar, as part of a research project I agreed to take part in testing the feasibility of this method of checking how patients are healing instead of coming to the hospital, because, apparently, many people dont keep the appt. Trouble is, my main scar is vertically through my navel, so the only way I can make it visible enough is to hold back the flesh (too plentiful) either side and then my fingers get in the way and I cant reach to press the button to take the shot! All useful info for the study I guess. Will have to try with mobile phone and if that doesnt work enlist OH, who is useless with technology, so I dont hold out much hope. Waiting to hear from DVLA as to when I can drive again, hoping its not too long because it is rather limiting and in terms if the ops I should be OK from next week. Otherwise I’m doing well and although still having to pace myself managing to do more.

Good Evening ladies

Good luck with everything Rosie and I wish you a swift recovery. I hop you have had a lovely day today.

Lovewine I have seen the film bohemian rhapsody and really enjoyed it. I went to see The favorite yesterday obviously totally different, very good acting but not sure about the fanciful story line. Lovely baby blanket wildpurl, I don't know how you find the time but you are obviously very skilled and into unusual knits, very nice. Hope all is well Joan and you are feeling stronger every  day.

Good Morning Ladies!

Wow Wildpurl it is beautiful I am sure that the reciprient will be overwhelmed! How talented and patient you are! 😊 Glad you got your seeds sewn also, a successful weekend!

Lovewine sorry to hear that your dog walking friend has been taken ill and do hope that the MRI scan won’t show up anything too untoward!

My friend is coming over this morning, so this is probably better, as you say a very welcome distraction! DH arrives at 11.00 tonight and I have to be on the ward for 7.30am tomorrow!

I am just about to get up and go off for the blood test.

Stay well ladies not sure what the signal will be like in the hospital I should be back by the weekend!

Morning ladies, Rosie, i hope all goes well with your blood pressure and your appointment tomorrow, shame if you’re friend cant make your meet up today though, a bit of distraction would be nice! I am going to be busy this week, today is certainly looking that way , the Barbados lady has returned too😬.

Joan, sorry to hear your OH has been unwell again, my dog walking friend was in A&E on thursday night , she has had many ear issues for a few weeks now, she collapsed and had severe nausea and dizziness, she is booked in for a mri scan on sunday.

I really enjoyed the film on saturday, i forgot how good the music was , yesterday was wet and windy , a bit of shopping and tidying up!

off to work now, have a good week ladies !

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

Wildpurl and Joan it seems we all posted at the same time yesterday! 🤣

Wildpurl I hope that you got your seeds sowed yesterday it was such a blustery wet day!

Hopefully when you have your week off the spring weather will have returned and you will be able to spend time in your garden!

Joan I am sorry to hear that yet another weekend plan has been cancelled due to OH being ill. You are not having much luck healthwise between you! At least you did get an outing last week maybe you should look for another coach trip?🤔

I go into hospital on Wednesday morning, tomorrow I have to go for a blood test for blood matching!

My blood pressure was slightly better when I went to the nurse last week and the nurse said she wouldn’t rush me into the doctor although it was still high! Two weeks after the op I have to have a machine at home to monitor it for a week!😬😳

My friend was supposed to be meeting me in Worcester today but she may not be able to make it! They are going for a second viewing on a house! 😒

Lovewine I guess your client from Barbados will be back by now? Hopefully your week won’t be too busy. I don’t think you will be sitting on your swinging chair this week though!😔

Cassie hope all is well.

Hopefully you all survived the wind yesterday without any damage.

Thankfully it died down by 10pm!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well the spring weather has definitely gone, chilly and wet here. Not much incentive to go out which is just as well because OH in bed with another attack of labyrinthitis. We were supposed to be having lunch with a friend (unfortunately  the same friend we had go cancel last weekend) then going to the cinema to see All is True, the Kenneth Branagh film about Shakespeare. Its a very limited run, only 4 showings and tonight wasthe only one we could make. Still, have had one injection of culture this week, going to Cardiff to see The Magic Flute. It was a group outing so coach travel all organised, which was brilliant. I was pleased I managed it although I had deliberately taken it very easy all day to ensure I had enough energy.

Lovewine, that is really good news about your friend from breast cancer treatment. What an emotional encounter it must have been with your friend who does have cancer though. Incredibly brave of him to arrange his own funeral though. A neighbour of ours, who died of pancreatic cancer a couple of years ago did the same; in fact he recorded a message which was read out at the service. Incredible to be able to do that.

Rosie, what day do you actually go into hospital/have your op. Its understandable that you are feeling apprehensive but it will be so good to have it sorted and to be able to look forward to being  free of the pain you have had for so long and being able to enjoy your holiday. I assume your blood pressure check was OK?You clearly have some lovely  walks near you along the canal and the river so I hope you have some decent weather to be able to get out as soon as you are up to it. What a shame about OHs ring, he must have been upset. Scrumping oranges though remind me so much of the colours and smells of Cyprus.

Cassie and Wildpurl, hope all well with you.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone, such good news about your breast cancer friend Lovewine. It must be very difficult for you and everyone to face the time ahead with your other friend with cancer,  including him, but as he is coping by organising and preparing things for his death I guess his family and friends can try to follow his lead.

Joan, I am glad the doctor could not find anything untoward causing your pain. I think that it may be a while before you are completely healed up and perhaps some wind just put a little pressure on the area where the surgery was. I hope it doesn’t recur.

Rosie what a lovely location so close to where you live. I guess you will be glad to have a reasonable time back in Cyprus after your surgery, and not have to be constantly juggling travel and living arrangements for a bit! How lovely to be planning trips in the motorhome too.

Cassie I hope all is well with you.

It is raining here today but was quite bright yesterday and the forecast ahead is sunshine and showers, perfect spring weather really.

Today I will be sowing my first veg seeds under glass, then I should be able to finish the baby blanket. I have two more working weeks then I am taking a week off, I am really looking forward to having some time at home to do my own things and also to rest. I’ll be taking the Easter week off as well, so the next few months should be more relaxing.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning Ladies,

Lovewine I am so glad that your friend’s scare turned out to be nothing too untoward what a relief!

I think your neighbour is being very sensible and making the most of the time he has left. Making funeral arrangements now will be so much easier for his wife when the time comes. Hopefully his positive attitude will reward him with some bonus time!

I met my sister yesterday in Hereford for coffee and cake! There had been an fatal incident on the line between Malvern and Colwall so there was chaos at the station with trains being cancelled. I had to get on a later train to Gt Malvern for a bus transfer that never came! The trains were up and running again so it was a case of up and down stairs again crossing the track! I then had to get myself from the station in Hereford to the city centre to our meeting point!😖

Having a quiet day today just spoken to DD on Skype and waiting for other 3 calls later in the day!

It’s very damp here today! 😞

Joan hope you are having a better weekend than the last one.

Cassie hope all is well with you and the family.

Wildpurl have you had time to complete the baby blanket?

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies, Rosie what a lovely place to live, so pretty at the side of the canal, but very central for all the amenities.

My friend let me know when she returned from the clinic, thankfully all was ok, i havent spoken to her in detail as she is still so shook up and upset, but it is harmless and not cancer , what a relief!

Rosie, it will be a good thing when your operation is done now, at least you have the summer to look forward to, exciting to be able to plan your trips in the motor home😊.

I have had today off, picked up my mum and sister and we spent the morning in the local market town having a look around the shops, i bought a nice summer t shirt, also a canvas fold up shopping bag from White Stuff , all the proceeds go to a charity in India where the bags are made by girls, this money helps to get them an education, so we all bought one !

Tomorrow, i am going with OH to the cinema to see Bohemian Rhapsody which we didnt catch the first time around.

Spoke with my ill friend earlier, he said he had just returned from arranging his funeral, it was a bit disconcerting to be honest and i was a bit lost for words at first😳, he said it had to be done as hes not going to be around much longer, i asked him what he had arranged and hes to be buried in our village churchyard, close to his mother, father and sister , i really felt so sad for him and his wife and children, i find it hard to believe hes in this situation as he looks so well and working full time and doing everything as usual, but hes very ill..., it certainly puts things into perspective.

Hope everyone is ok, looks like our early lovely spring weather has gone for now, but its very mild here today, sadly rain forecast on sunday,

Have a nice weekend ladies.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Afternoon Ladies,

The photograph was actually the river in Worcester not the canal the canal basin is very close to the river though!

Oh goodness Lovewine I hope your client in Barabados has done some of her laundry before she returns!

Is there any news from your friend? I do hope the news won’t be as bad as feared! 😬

How unfortunate that your FIL’s double knee replacement was cancelled! Fortunately he hasn’t had too long to wait for his new date! I really wish that I could have had both done at the same time I would have been able to be more active by now! Fitzpatrick does bilateral joint replacements on animals!

DH returns on Tuesday and he will probably stay for about 2 weeks. He will then go back to Cyprus for 2 weeks and return again 2 weeks later by then we are hoping I will be fit enough to go away for a few days in the motorhome! Once I go back to Cyprus, around the end of April, I will remain until July 10th when we come back for our summer travels!😁

It’s a grey day here today and it looks here to stay for a while!😒

Hello ladies , what a lovely photo of the canal Rosie , it’s been so lovely the last week we have been spoiled !

cassie lovely for a picnic too . A nice idea from GS .

i have been busy but not as bad as I thought , mainly because 2 clients are not organised and haven’t washed their holiday clothes ! The other client has extended her trip in Barbados for another week !!

Rosie I am not surprised you are feeling apprehensive at your surgery , but by your family holiday in the summer you will be hopefully out of pain and able to keep up with your lovely GC !! My FIL was booked in for a double knee replacement on Monday , but it was cancelled the night before and rescheduled to 2nd March - they live in Canada and do both knees at once there 😬

When will DH return ?

My friend who had treatment at same time as me which is how we met is at the Breast clinic as I post this , am very nervous waiting for news from her - I just have a bad feeling the news won’t be good , she has found a lump close to the original one , I am hoping it’s scar tissue or harmless .

Joan I hope you are continuing to recover and no further pain .. have you managed to sit and enjoy the sun ? I actually had an hour in my swinging chair this afternoon !!

Wildpurl hope all is ok with you .

Cassie how lovely to go for a picnic with GS!😊

The weather has been glorious, even I put on a thinner jacket yesterday as it was 18 here! 😎

Sadly I think this is the last day before the normal temperatures return!

Hope you are all well ladies.

Lovewine are you busy as you feared this week?😬

Tomorrow I have to get to Droitwich on the bus for a Strength and Success workshop prior to joint replacement! I went last time and it was quite helpful! Beginning to feel a little apprehensive now I am into the final week! However I know I can’t go on with the extreme pain! At least I know what to expect!😳🥴

Have a good day ladies!

Good evening ladies, third time lucky I hope, I keep looking my post. I know what you mean about your follow up appointments Rosie you feel in limbo. I think I am meant to be followed up for 10 years due to the target b trial I am on. I went on a lovely picnic with GS yesterday in the sunshine. It was his idea.

Oh dear Joan I am so glad that the doctor couldn’t find anything untoward and do hope that the pain won’t return. Maybe it’s a warning not to run before you can walk!😳

It must have been very frightening for both you and OH!

I am sure that your ED and BIL will be very pleased with their gifts to show your appreciation but as you say wouldn’t expect anything.

I hope that you manage your visit to Penny Brohn  for a catch up and meditation it will do you good!

Take it easy- no more emergencies!🙀

Lovewine you certainly picked a lovely weekend for you dog walk they look so happy!😊 What a suitable named  pub to end up at after a dog walk, The Pug and Greyhound! Love it!🤣

Yes ladies it does feel like a mixed blessing to be off the radar regarding oncology but as Joan quite rightly points out it will be one less medical appointment to attend! 👍

I enjoyed my walk by the river and canal it always gives me a sense of peace and it’s right on the doorstep we really couldn’t be in a more perfect place. So close to the city, river and canal!😊

My friends from upstairs invited me for a coffee just after I had finished one here! But I went anyway!😊

I spent half a day on skype to the family, ending with YS who called just as I was settling down to Call the Midwife! Thank goodness for catch up here!🤣 I had previously tried to watch The secret of Cruise Shops a documentary on 5 but ES Skyped, I tried again on 5+1 and DD Skyped! Never mind more important to talk to the kids! Oh and then there  was DH earlier in the evening!

He has lost a gold signet ring that belonged to his dad and he wore on his little finger! He thinks he lost it when scrumping oranges! He has been back to look underneath the tree and moved the leaves but can’t find it. The trees are on the dog walk he takes and are on a piece of common ground in a residential area! He didn’t want to spent too long or else he would look suspicious!🤭

Off to see the nurse for blood pressure check today, I just hope to goodness it had reduced!🙀

The lovely weather goes on! Hope the week starts well for you all!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good evening ladies, what a glorious weekend its been and so warm, we had a lovely walk yesterday with the dog group, culminating in a cold drink in the garden of a very nice pub called The Pug and Greyhound! Today we sat in the garden for a while, although OH was pottering with his bonsai trees and then we had another walk this afternoon.

Rosie, what good news you have been discharged from Oncology, but as you say a bit of a mixed blessing as it’s reassuring to be checked out regularly even though we hate going ! I must admit i havent been watching the greatest dancer programme, although i do love strictly come dancing💃, am enjoying Masterchef, Endeavour and Baptiste at the moment.

I expect to be very busy at work next week 😬, hope you all enjoyed the sunshine this weekend.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Well this weekend hasnt quite worked out as planned! Was supposed to be going to a friends fir lunch today but instead spent 4 hours up at Southmead hospital being checked out. In supermarket with husband yesterday morning I suddenly developed severe abdominal pain, like a very bad stitch. It gradually went when I got back home and lay down with a hot water bottle and paracetemol. We had friends round in the afternoon and I was fine, but when I got up to see them off the pain returned though again it stopped when I lay down. Tried ringing all the hospital  numbers I had but couldnt get a response so husband insisted I call 111, who sent me to an out of hours doctor, who contacted the hospital. Upshot was an appointment at a surgical ‘hot clinic’ this morning. It was more of a ‘tepid clinic’ as it turned out because I wasnt seen for a couple of hours, not surprising because the poor doctor on duty was juggling ward responsibilities as well and calls from A & E. However she was very thorough and although she was unable to establish the cause of the pain it doesn’t seem to be indicative of anything serious. Just hoping it doesnt recur.

Rosie, I can understand your ambivalence about being signed off by oncology; being checked out regularly does provide a degree of security. But it is a positive step as well, after all this time and with all the other appointments you are having its one less. I hope the blood pressure test tomorrow gives you the results you need. I agree that these phone in votes are rather unfair, dependent on how many supporters you have. But I guess it woukd be difficult to police a system where you were disbarred from voting if you had a personal connection with the person involved. Hope you had a good potter along the river.

Cassie, hope you have no further disturbances in the middle of the night, most annoying. Hope you have managed to get out and enjoy the sunshine this weekend and that ED and GS have had a good weekend in Lincolnshire.

Lovewine, how lovely to be able to buy milk straight from the farm. Six pounds is a lot of weight to lose in such a short time, but the chocolate muffins will no doubt help. Hope work isnt too horrendous.

Husband is watching the rugby. I have just ordered a Six Nations Cheese Selection Box to be sent to EDs partner to say thankyou for all the driving he did while I was in hospital. He loves cheese and rugby so hopefully he will enjoy this- theres one cheeses from each country. Sending ED flowers and chocolates. Neither gift can adequately express my thanks for everything they did, and they wont be expecting anything but it seemed important to do something.

I’m hoping to go up to Penny Brohn tomorrow morning. I cant do Qi Gong but I will join the others fir a cup of tea afterwards and then go to meditation.

Wildpurl, I can get a years free subscription to Headspace through Penny Brohn so will check out their sleep tapes.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good Morning ladies!

I have been discharged from oncology which to me feels like a mixed blessing! He felt a few lymph nodes and said that the blood I had taken at South Bank, the hospital where I had my pre op assessment 2 weeks ago, was ok! He said if I was worried about anything to see doctor who would then refer me again!😬

Lovewine I am loving the sound of your double chocolate muffins!😜 I can’t share your love of fresh milk though! It’s good that there are more outlets where you can get it fresh and you are right it will be much better for you and help build you up! How lovely to sit out with your coffee so early in the year. You have picked a wonderful day to walk with your doggie friends! Hope you find a suitable pub or cafe! 😋

Cassie what a horrible way to be woken up at such an unearthly hour in the morning! I wouldn’t have been able to get back to sleep after such an incident!

I am glad to hear that ED and GS have been away for a couple of days and hope that all will remain calm!

Joan are you venturing out again this weekend?

Wildpurl I expect that you will be happy in your garden!

I will take a potter along the river later!  I am looking forward to watching the final of The Greatest Dancer tonight! I have now caught up with the 2 episodes I missed. A local girl is in one of the 4 final acts in the group KLA. The only thing that annoys me is that it’s not just talent that gets you through but how many people you know that will phone in and vote! I remember once in my school in Cornwall, which was very small, less than 30 pupils, we entered a Christmas Carol  Competition on radio Cornwall and won because of the number of times staff, parents and members of the community phoned in to register a vote! 😳

Must keep calm this weekend blood pressure check on Monday! 😬

Whatever you are doing ladies this weekend enjoy the spring weather!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon Ladies,

I am glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Joan and also have managed a good sleep, I think we all have the same problem with sleeping but it is so much worse when in pain or feeling unwell.

I have had someone ringing on my intercom non stop at 3.15 one early morning this week I think it was probably someone homeless hoping that they could gain entry to the block of flats, I was like a bear with a sore head and really shouted down the phone who are you and what do you want and not surprisingly there was no answer! It than took me hours to go back to sleep then my alarm went off,

Its been all quite on the western front ED took GS to Lincolnshire for a couple of days to see her auntie which in turn gave BF a break hopefully we will have a quiet weekend. No help offered though with her problems she is already doing some art therapy on Fridays which was cancelled this week due to half term but considering this is the 3rd time in a couple of years and the last two she went to a crisis centre its amazing that anyone survives.

My mammogram was last week I have an oncology appointment for the 18/03 originally 10/03 which the hospital cancelled. I am loving the sunshine Ladies x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good afternoon ladies, Rosie, i hope by now you are home from your oncology appointment and everything is well ? Always a stressful appointment 😬. The weather has been glorious here again today , in fact i was able to sit outside for an hour and drink my coffee in the sunshine!

In answer to the sleep apps and aids, i am like you and wake up several times during the night , i fall asleep easily , but never stay asleep, i have used a sleep app using calming noises , i found the sea one very good- waves lapping on pebbles! Also a birdsong one too, but come the summer i am deafened by our own in the garden🐦🦉.

Joan, i am so glad you are doing so well, sleeping that well too will help you recover, are you doing anything this weekend or just enjoying the nice weather?

I have had a very nice slow week at work, but i know i will pay the price next week as you rightly predict Joan with the returning clients from holidays.

Today i picked up some proper milk from the local village dairy farm, bought my glass bottles and take them once a week to be filled up with the most wonderful tasting whole milk , the farmers wife who set it up is lovely and very enterprising, Usually see her for a chat , the milk is filled up from a vending machine in its own little shop. After having my awful flu bug i wanted to build my health back up , i am trying to gain the weight i lost , 6 pounds in 3 days 😬, have also made some double chocolate muffins with nutella in the middle and a mini egg on the top🤪, so hoping that will help me with the weight gain !! Am also eating more fruit and veg ! Although thats not as appealing as the cakes.

Wildpurl, it wont be long before you return from work in the daylight, i have noticed a big improvement with dog walking, i can actually see now!

Cassie, i hope you are having a calmer week with work and also with ED , what a worry for you , have you had your results from the mammogram yet? Although i dont think its very long since you went, i waited over 7 weeks for last years results.

Have a  lovely weekend everyone, i am meeting up with 6 of the dog walking group tomorrow afternoon and we are driving to a nice walk which will be even nicer if it stays sunny, followed by either a pub garden or a cafe😊.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Good morning ladies!

We realise when something goes wrong with the forum just what an important part of our lives it is and how 5 years later we are still as strong together!

Joan and Wildpurl I was interested to read about your sleeping apps as I have seen them advertised many times in my Facebook feed! I may have a look into this over the weeekend. Something like this may well help me over the difficult weeks ahead following surgery when I yet again am forced to sleep on my back!🙀 I sleep between 5-7 hours each night but this is not undistubed sleep I am out at least once!

Lovewine have you tried anything like this because I know you are a bit l ike me with your lack of sleeping? Hope your week is still not too hectic?

Cassie is GS on half term this week? Do hope ED is coping and getting some support.🤔

I start my myriad of medical appointments today with oncology! 🙀

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Joan I subscribed to headspace this year as it was 40% off and they have what they call sleepcasts. I mostly don’t have any problem with sleeping but when I travel I don’t sleep well in a strange hotel room, so I tried it on my recent trip to Vienna for work and it was brilliant. I used them also when I was ill recently to help me fall asleep for an afternoon nap. The concept seems very similar to the one you used, it does appear to be very effective. I’m glad you got your 9 hours!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Yes, that was a bit of a pain this morning; it kept telling me I wasn’t authorised to access the page. They were probably deluged with calls-I rang and was told  an engineer was working on it. I texted Lovewine who said you had bedn in touch too.

I wanted to post this morning just to report that I slept for 9 hours last night! OK it was in two hour chunks but still. Nothing to do with sleeping pills though, because I dont have them yet. I used an app called CALM, which is largely about on line meditation but has a selection of ‘sleep stories’. I listened to one on going to bed, and fell asleep almost immediately then put it on again every time I woke up. Hope it wasnt just a coincidence, I shall see tonight.

Rosie, what a shame about just missing your train.  Very frustrating. Looks like you’ve come back to a lovely week.

Wildpurl, I sympathise with all the finishing off work you have to do on your baby blanket. Its the bit I really hate.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Ah at last it seems to be fixed!

Wildpurl I wrote two posts and lost both of them! When I read your post I realised it was an IT issue so I emailed the forum and they replied saying they knew about the fault and had engineers working on it!

Joan that’s great news you managed the theatre and didn’t feel too tired afterwards just be careful that you don’t overdo it too quickly!

I am sorry to hear about your brother and I am sure that he will be anxious waiting for the results. As you rightly said it’s been found early and he may get away with monitoring! My dad had one and he was just monitored, he lived to be 93!

Wilpurl have a wonderful weekend at the yarn festival and gardening!

The baby blanket sounds like it needs the patience of Job!

Lovewine I do hope that all is well with your boiler now and you won’t need to call British Has out again! 😳

I arrived back safely last night at 10.30pm so feeling very tired today. I missed the 7pm train from Temple Meads by a whisker and had to wait 1 hr 40 mins for the next! 🙀

What lovely weather today I have just been down to M@S to get 2 new nighties! People were all peeling their coats off!

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning everyone,

i hope your trip went smoothly rosie and you get to your appointments OK.

Joan, I am glad you enjoyed your theatre trip and did not find it too tiring

well done on getting the grass cut Lovewine!

cassie I hope things have calmed down for you and your boss has got the message!

i have had problems posting for the last few days, I think it should be OK now, it seems to part log me out after a day and then will not accept my post and asks me to log in but appears to be already logged in, so I can’t do anything! I have logged out and then back in again and I hope that fixes it. If you can read this post then it has worked!

I did get into the garden last Sunday which was nice, but during the working week I still get home after dark, so I don’t get much benefit from good weather at this time of year, apart from being able to walk in the sunshine at lunchtime, which is good.

The baby blanket is almost complete but I do have to sew in hundreds of ends and then crochet a border, so not quite there yet!

This weekend I am going to a yarn festival called Unravel, it is on every year and is always fun, and should be able to do some more gardening.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Managed the theatre trip on Saturday and not nearly as tired as I expected. On the basis of that, went over to see the GCn on Sunday afternoon. At home all day yesterday but today out for coffee with one of my colleagues from the pier, then a two hour work related telephone conference. Spent the rest of the afternoon on the sofa watching TV!  Had another bad night, so decided to give in and ask doc for sleeping pills. SIL rang this morning to say my brother has been diagnosed with an aortic aneurism- following a routine scan offered to men over 65 in their area. Fortunately it isnt a large one and although he wont  find out till  next week what the plan is it will probably be monitoring rather than urgent op. Hes in a bit of a heap, which I can understand, but on the positive side without the scan the first he might have known about it was when it burst, as happened with my father.

Lovewine, very impressed with the lawn cutting. Ours is looking rather shaggy. The lovely weather does provide an incentive. Glad you are having an easier week, you dont seem to have had many of those recently. I suspect, though, that the returning holidaying clients will bring back more work.

Rosie, hope your sterling efforts to reduce your blood pressure pay off. Also that you have a good flight and onward journey.

Cassie, hope your week is proving less stressful both in terms of family and work. Wildpurl, hope all is well with you. I expect you have been taking advantage of the good weather to get out into your garden.
