Thank you mini mad for replying. Glad that you tested negative for the gene. Ive got my fingers crossed that mine will be neg too. Hope you can arrange for earlier mamograms for your daughter . I feel the same just dont want my daughter to go through anything like this.

Re: Chemo ladies from May 2019 😳

Hi Daisy D,

i had surgery before both of my surgeries so dont know about EC..  sorry.

yes i had the BRCA test and thankfully i dont carry the gene.  I have lots of BC on both sides of my family and now trying to get my daughter to qualify for mammograms early.

I would put your trust in your surgeon,  they will recommend what is right for you.  Obviously a lumpectomy is a smaller but still serious surgery compared to a mastectomy.

i havent had reconstructive surgery,  if i'd been 20 years younger i might have considered it but it does make recovery a lot longer.

any other questions just ask.  Mini mad xx πŸ’–πŸ’–

Thank you so much for the reply and sorry to hear you had to go through this twice .Did u experience many side effects from EC?  Did the chemo shrink the tumour and the lymph nodes. My tumour has decreased but lymph nodes are stable . Currently experiencing some discomfort, /aching under arm .

I know its an individual choice but would u recommend the lumpectomy or to go  straight for mastectomy.  Did you have any reconstruction  surgery My mind is all over the place .im trying to take everything one day at a time .

Did you have gene test too? Im awaiting results.

Love

Hi Daisy D,

of course i dont mind you asking about my surgery.  I had a lumpectomy with 3 nodes removed in 2017.  Clear margins and lymph nodes.

in 2019 i had Triple Negative BC again.  Left side mastectomy with 3 aux nodes removed.  Clear margins and nodes.  Now 1 year past surgery,  last year seemed so long...  i took a day at a time... and i rang that bell after my final chemoπŸ’–

if you want to ask anything just go ahead  mini mad xx πŸ’–πŸ’–

Hi Mini mad

Im triple neg too. Ive just completed the paclitaxel and carboplatin  and due to start EC treatment on Wednesday. Ive had lots of side effects with the paclitaxel and issues with my white blood cells which has meant chemo has been cancelled on three occasions recently. Side effects ive currently got is tightness in throat and discomfort under arm ,( ive got 2 lymph nodes)

I just wondered if u minded me asking what surgery you . Im struggling a bit  at the moment as it feels never ending. I just cant wait to get to the end of chemo.

Its so nice to hear from someone who has been through this although obviously wish you didnt have too .

Thank you for taking the time to post .
