I am an interloper to the thread as a November starter who has her second accelerated FEC-T on Thursday.
I just wanted to thank Shi for the top tip for Thieves Oil which I have never heard about and sounds like a brew I would love to mix up (I always wanted to be a wise old healing woman!).
I also wanted to wish you all the very best for your first cycle. Like Lesley62, I was apprehensive but it was much better once I had started and I hope it will be for you all. Even on the rough days, this site and the chemo monthly threads have made me smile and feel less alone, so don't be on your own with any niggles, worries or questions. Take all the love and support you can. xx
Hi Lesley, sorry I made a mistake yesterday with the company name it is wigsmart. I am currently trying to cancel the order and get a refund but unsuccessful so far. I am going to take a look at simply wigs xx
Also wanted to say to Rabbit ........... simply wigs - ordered on Friday, delivered today ..... and it's fab - really pleased with it.
Hope you get yours sorted
xx
morning all
just wanted to pop in from the nov thread to wish you all the best....
I have my second FEC on Thursday 30th Nov and I will be thinking of you all as you start your Dec journeys.
There is loads of advice on here, a lot of which you will have forgotten by the time it is relevant but sing out and someone without chemo brain will point you in the right direction.
I think the worst bit is waiting for it.... it's the fear of the unknown. But I have found that it wasnt as bad as I expected ....... its wasnt great ....... but I had built it up in my mind and was expecting all sorts of horrendous SEs
As JC says, the fact that there are so many young ladies on here is so so so wrong. It makes me angry.
We'll keep an eye on you as you enter your first sessions
xx
Hi cmccorry, I'm from the November thread & popped in to read your thread. I had my 2nd chemo last Friday. I am on 6 cycles of FEC-T. I had a mastectomy in July after a routine mammogram revealed the very early stages of bc, not even a lump!! But I had areas of calcium turning pre cancerous. It was only decided late Sept that I needed chemo after an oncotype dx test revealed that I would benefit from chemo as it had turned grade 3 aggressive, but fortunately hadn't spread to lymph nodes.
To be fair my chemo hasn't been too bad, I've had some nausea, tiredness during the first week, then a reaction to my immune system boosting injections, but the lovely ladies on the November thread have suggested I take 1 clarityn daily whilst having injections. I've had a few days of a sore dry mouth (ask for difflam mouthwash) and down below (used caneston). Days 7-14 are when your immunity is at its lowest so best to avoid crowds, coughs, colds, sore throats etc. The final week I was absolutely fine, except for losing my hair (as I'm not cold capping) so had a few nice days out planned.
All in all, I can only say how I have found it and it hasn't been too bad , although some of our ladies have had it harder, but we're in this together and help each other through highs and lows.
Good luck with your journey xxx 🤗🌟☄💫💕
Also meant to say Dramaminx that there are quite few of us TN girls around going thru genetics testing. I am waiting for results, should be January time??
So you are not alone

Hi Scooter, I missed my swimming after op beginning of Oct but when I saw the consultant 2 1/2 weeks after for follow up he said I go go again which was great. I mainly ownly swim front crawl so arm was a bit achy after the first time but now its fine. I am really concerned about not keeping up the exercise as I've lost 6 1/2 stone through exercise and healthy eating over the last couple of years so really don't want to put it back on!! No sun here today where in the country are you? xx
Oh my goodness, you girls make me feel tired just reading about all your exercise and physical activity! I couldn't do it normally, let alone when going thru chemo..... hats off to you all.
But I am a bit of an old bird, its more about comfort than speed for me these days 🙂 but still glamming it up as well.... think chubbier Joan Collins!! 🙂
Dramaminx, I have my second treatment next thursday, but I have to admit I was sat yesterday thinking, why can't I have it today, I felt perfectly ok for it .... but I have no idea what my blood count etc is doing. So I am back to sitting on my hands!!
If there is anything worrying you, use this group to air your concerns, someone will have done it and got the t-shirt as well!
Better together.... as they say!
xx
Hi Karebare, I'm sure this thread will be useful for us all starting.
Thanks Rabbit28, hope you get a start date soon as well. That is good news for you for the swimming 🙂 When I was asking my surgeon at diagnosis, about my basketball & running, he said do whatever you want, take up rugby if you want lol it will all be beneficial. But will need to wait see what the energy levels allow, I am now preparing myslef for a massive drop in that x
Hi Karebear
Welcome to the thread. I hope you will find lots of support and advice here. Please ask if you have any questions.
Best wishes

Hi Kirsty, I'm due to start my chemo early December just waiting for a scan on the 30th Nov then a start date shortly after. I like you am hoping to keep up with exercise and work through it.
However, my oncologist did say I would probably need at least 7/10 days off after each session. She did say I can carry on swimming which I was suprised about but also pleased. Apparently as I have juicy' veins they will just put a line in each time so it's not a problem.
Good luck with your first session. xx
KirstyH, I'm from the October thread and I had chemo 3 last Tuesday. I work full time and I usually sign myself off for the Tuesday to Friday (4days) then I work from home the second week as this is when immune system is low and then have been going into work week 3. I choose to sign myself off the first 4 days as I think it's important to let my body recuperate after the chemo and hope this means I'll be able to continue to work during later cycles. So working and chemo has certainly been doable for me but I do find going into work more tiring than working from home, although it's nice to see people and takes my mind off things even if just briefly. i have also been using a bouncer each day and doing yoga and meditation every day too all this does seem to keep the fatigue at bay for me.
Hi Dramaminx
Welcome to the forum and the thread.
So sorry to read that you're having to go through this again, but it sounds like you are feeling positive.
When I had my chemo, I found that by the end of week 2, I felt pretty good and was itching to get on with the next cycle. I do hope that you feel the same.
And you're right, take one treatment at a time.
There are lots of lovely ladies going through this right now and the threads are very lively! Everyone is so supportive, so I do hope we can help along the way.
Best wishes
Sue xx
