Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Ah I see, I wasnt sure. It is horrible isnt it, im feeling a lot better now though thank god. They said I could have went home with the drain in but I dont fancy that as would worry with no one there to check the drain so my consultant said probably be here till Monday, going by how much is draining. Going to go out again in sun soon for a walk tho xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

No, you can only have radiotherapy once to that area. That’s nice you’ve got to sit outside. That woozy feeling is yuk! The anaesthetic taste has only just gone, its foul! When are you allowed to go home? Xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Oh fingers crossed his thoughts are right and its some sort of cyst. Either way its out and they will test. Will you get rads to the area or do they not do that if already had radiotherapy?

Im feeling better today thanks, was sleepy and woozy yesterday and was sick (from the anesthetic and strong painkillers I think) but then was ok after. Today ive been wandering about and sitting outside in the hospital garden in the sun with my drain bag on xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning, I was allowed home yesterday 🙂 I slept most of the evening and all night but feeling more human today thanks. When I signed my consent form my surgeon said that he’d been thinking, and that there was a small chance it could be a pocket stitch cyst. He also said that it was highly suspicious and that my options are starting to run out. I feel quite optimistic, maybe I’m totally deluded though and it’s my brain trying to protect me from any more stress and fear! How are you feeling Kirsty? Been thinking about you too x I did come off of Facebook for a few months but I’ll reactivate my account and join you. I hope everyone is ok and has a good weekend. Xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Ditto all the comments re Herceptin! Had mine on Tuesday and apart from a tiny bit of stinging it’s been fine!
One thing I have noticed is that I have a strange taste in my mouth for a day or two after 🤔🤔xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Karebear, I've been having herceptin injections since December, had no. 7 on Wednesday. No issues other than my heart function has dropped but not significant enough for medication. Hope yours goes ok, as Kirsty said it can sting a bit but not always depends on the speed they do it. xx

I've also been given my tamoxifen meds.
But am not going to start them until I've finished my radiotherapy and give my body some time to heal.

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Good it's all behind you Kirsty and you can now concentrate on recovery. Are you still in hosp? I know people are discharged incredibly quickly.

I had good recent ultrasound result. lymph nodes now look normal and the radiologist/ographer (forget which) cld find no cancerous tissue around the titanium marker which had been in the centre of the tumour.

I still have to have the extra chemo, though!

Hope all goes well Unicorngirlmummy.

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

I've not posted in a long time lme but have been reading all your posts. Kirsty, you've done so well. At least you know that the chemo was worth it all as it reduced the amount in the nodes. You can relax and recover from your surgery.

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Good news for being out the other side of surgery!! Hope it’s not too painful and you are feeling ok!
That sounds like a brilliant response to chemo — at even if there were a couple of pesky nodes... they are now gone!! Don’t forget you are still having Herceptin 🙂

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning, thats me out the other side. Surgeon pleased with how the operation went and had a wee peak and looks good. Bad news is that there was 2 nodes that still had tiny bit of cancer in them, less than 1mm and lots of scarring so he said the positive is its shows a really good response to chemo with the scarring and so little left but as there is anything active at all I had to have the full clearance 😞 but most important thing is they are out! I find it a bit scary that the nodes that looked normal on scans were also involved but apparently that can be commom to find bits after the sentinel node biopsy, trying not to obsess over it 🙈

Now time to think of you today unicorngirlmummy and sending love, let us know how you get on xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Unicornmummy - not what any of us were hoping for, I’m so sorry you’ve got another hurdle to get over. It’s not fair and you are allowed to feel upset and peed off about this. But tomorrow you will pick yourself up and get yourself ready for Friday and let the experts take care of you. They could not act any quicker and that is a real positive. You are down but not out. Cancer got a lucky punch but you will come out fighting, just as you always do, and you will win. You can do this, I’ll be wishing you every luck for Friday xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

So sorry, Unicorngirlmummy to hear your news. To have a recurrence so quickly is devastating. I have been grumbling about extra chemo and should be grateful!

Good an op is imminent for you.

Big hugs.

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Oh so sorry to hear your bad news unicorngirlmummy, cancer is so **bleep**!! Glad sutgery has been booked so quickly for you and hope a new plan blasts this recurrance and praying for 3rd time

thanks Sam, on scans the 1 swollen node which was measured 4.6mm at diagnosis was back down to 2mm and looking normal on scans so thats why they decided to to the SNLB before rushing to a clearance so hopefully chemo has done its job well but it might not have so im still worried. Only 2 days to wait now tho then at least ill know xx

Re: December 2017 Chemo Starters

Oh Unicorngirlmummy - I’m sorry to hear your news 😞 ... don’t be sorry for being gloomy. We are all rooting for you. Hopefully they have a plan in place and as you say... third time lucky and hope it’s gone once and for all xxx

Cathsin - the Herceptin was fine. Just an injection in the thigh which they put in slowly over about 5 min. I have had Herceptin already with chemo so this is the first time on its own. The only side effect (so far!) is a horrible taste in my mouth. If that’s all though... I won’t complain!

Thanks Kirsty - yep seems like it’s pretty standard then. Hope the results go ok on Thursday!! Have they given any indication of how they think you responded?? Xx
