I eat normally as I'm dropping weight. I try and drink lots of water though 2 to 3 litres per day starting day before chemo. Good Luck
I was routinely given emend along with ondansetron. With emend you get 1x125mg tablet that you take 1 hr before chemo and 2 x 80mg tablets, 1 for the following 2 days. I also get ondansetron 8mg twice a day for 3 days starting dayafter chemo and dexamethasone steroid 2mg 3 times a day for 3 days starting day after chemo. Also given metoclopramide as a back up if required. I guess it varies across different trusts. I was nauseous first cycle of fec, but not so much second cycle and haven't vomited at all. Hope this helps. With you being a Jan starter you are best posting in that months thread where you will get lots of support. I tend to switch between Dec and Jan threads as only had 1 chemo in December. Best wishes
ask for emend in addition to ondansetron. It's very expensive, but is excellent.
Hi there Pb42 - i agree with DiKat - you need to let your chemo unit know. I'm a week on from my second session of FEC and I was told that side effects are difficult to avoid but they shouldn't be completely and utterly terrible. So - if you have a bit of sickness or a bit of diarrhoea then that isn't anything to worry about too much but if you keep being sick or keep having diarrhoea then to let them know as they may well be able to give you something to control it.
Big hugs x
Hi Pb42. You probably need your sickness meds changing. I would ring your unit. Were you given Emend as well. Best wishes
