Ali49 sorry to hear you are in hospital, hope you feel better soon and good to get it sorted asap. We are all thinking of you!
I had a friend pop round today, she didn't stay long but it was nice to see her. First person I've seen that I know, other than OH. Was a bit worried about it beforehand but was glad she came in the end. You just need to do what feels right for you, others will understand.
Hello ladies....actually had a good nites sleep last nite...only waking a few times...took steroids & donperignon this morning and gonna take second lot of steroids soon...feeling ok just a bit dizzy and no headache today so far thank god!! A friend popping over today with a cheese and potatoe pie...I'm looking forward to that although finding once I get something in front of me I don't then fancy it!! I'm not sure what to do this eve...obviously running a pub a lot of people are asking after me...do I pop down to say hi or stay away?? Is anyone else finding it difficult to make decisions!!
Its so good being able to talk to you lot for advice and support....just wanted to give you all a high five ✋

Thanks Sue w and Chaffinch 17 for the hair info . Bravely booked myself to the hairdressers 2 days before treatment starts on 13 for hair cut and wig try out 😳. Good to know Friday 13 has brought lots of lovely things your way Meehan 73 and Sue w hopefully the same will apply for us ladies . Hello mrs rims we are both going through it on the same day as Sue w . We,ll all imagine holding hands together on this journey and ... stay strong for each other . Thanks to everyone for the drug advice & lovely support and am off now to buy sea bands and linseed . Hope all is well for you Runnerbean thinking of you xxxx
Yes sorry maybe tmi for some, but I think it was on the September thread that I read some of them had a terrible time with being bunged up, so I did as I was told on that front and haven't had any real problem. Others had diarrhoea so I prepared for both and just waited to see which way I went! I also listened to the drinking water advice (2-3litres) day before chemo, on day and day after and I think that's really helped too.
Good luck Runnerbean, hope it goes well for you today!
mrs rims, I also was told that it's the drug ordansetron they give you for antisickness that bungs you up and was given laxido by oncologists to start taking day after chemo if I didn't go as normal as they said it's best to get on top of it straight away. They also advised golden Linseeds/ flaxseeds which you can get in holland and Barrett (ground is best) although you need to be careful as they can be quite strong.
I'm day 3 after first chemo session and I my foggyhead is mostly gone now and I feel ok. Last day of meds today so hope I don't have a crash tomorrow. Cassie, Ali49 how did you feel the first day after stopping your meds, did you still need to use the donperidone at all? I've been told I can use that if I still have any nausea.
chaffinch, glad you're doing ok. I also find I get a bit jittery after the steroids in the morning.
Karana, Sam34 and mikala, hope you're all fairing well this morning.
Hello, I am due to start my chemo on Friday 13th October, great day to start that eh!
I am nervous about the side effects, not bothered about losing my hair, its just the anticipation of the other side effects.
I have looked on the Sept 2017 thread for things to get in & take with me to chemo, has anyone else got anymore hints & tips not mentioned on that thread?
It's not so nice to have joined the forum becuase if the circumstances which has brought us here, but it's so lovely to read all the encourgament & help.
Ha ha Karana you made me laugh about the weeing, as I've just said to OH that's all I seem to do too and I also had a headache on day one, mines worn off a bit today although still feel a bit dizzy at times.
Marg, I also had long hair and cut it off about 1 1/2 weeks before I started chemo. Wished I'd done it years ago, everyone loved it and thought it made me look younger.
Not posted in a while so just catching up on the conversations ; really good to hear your first chemo went well Sam also lovely to read such up beat comments from all the rest of you lovely ladies - I start next Friday 13th !,,😳along with Sue I think . Anyone else starting then also ? trying very hard not to be superstitious. Painted my nails but not done the hair cut yet ...... dreading that as have long hair atm . Have read that hair can be donated to charity has anyone done that and if so ...... who would want it ? Xx
Well done Sam....it's funny how we all get different advice and meds depending on areas we're in...you would think it was standard!! I've had my sea band on since yesterday!! Feeling ok today just bad headache and I can't stop weeing! Now in bed watching TV, think I'm gonna put footy, mad I know!! Xx
Sam34 great to hear your chemo went ok and you managed the cold cap. Karana and chaffinch glad you're also doing ok day one after chemo. Chaffinch, I've also found the sea bands a bit uncomfortable at times but still persevering. Cassie good to hear there is hope without the sea bands lol. I went for a walk to the local Tesco (about 30 mins) to get more ginger nuts (OH quickly ate them all up after I gave him permission to have one)!
Only started chemo yesterday so haven't had any yet but really don't fancy it! I usually have at least a glass of red a day and more at weekend!! Xx
