Yes, love The Apprentice Shi! Wonder if those two women will still be having digs at each other?! (Can't rem their names)

Think it must be me, but the steroids didn't seem to make any difference to my sleep, woke up for a wee as usual, but that was it! xx

Why are we chatting about Thunderbird 😂😂 are we resorting to strong liquor?! In the 80s we used to Drink diamond white cider in our West Country hang outs!!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Evening ladies,
Karen and Chaffinch hope you are getting on Ok. ♥️
I definitely had back, side and bone pain from my period pain mixed in with chemo pain as it turns out and am having one mother of a period now to compensate for my 2 weeks delay! As Meesh says that might be happening for you too Karen? Had a bit of a wobble in the middle of the day as a result - paracetamol does nada for period pain in my experience 😞 But coming back out the end of it now and hope today is the worst of it.

I am also so over being hairy!! I usually wax because my hair grows back in 2 hours flat if I shave so my current state is a bit of a shock (thank god husband is confined to a different room 😂) It is like childbirth because if he looked at me too closely right now he would never think about me the same way again!!! 🦍🦍🦍

Shi, Sam (did I miss anyone) sending mega and 🍀🍀🍀🍀 and 🕺🕺🕺🕺 in your direction for tomorrow.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Thunderbird was an 80’s very strong alcoholic drink came in either red lettered bottle or blue lettered bottle, just a snif would knock you out let alone drinking it.... didn’t know if you stocked it at the pub, I think it’s still available to buy. Love shi xx

Karen, just a thought but is your back pain similar to period pain? Just asking as you said you'd had your coil removed and hadn't had a period yet?

💕💕Karana have you got some ginger biscuits or ginger anything? What about sniffing something like a thunderbird, when I had nausea after my op the nurse bunged an antiseptic wipe under my nose and the strong smell of that took the nausea and sickness away. Worth a try. 😘shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Karen, I had the waves of nausea yesterday night, have you taken all your meds now? I just kept nibbling on things for the nausea as that seemed to help. Didn't have the backache so can't help with that, sorry! If you're in doubt call the number as they can tell you what to do to help. I was going to phone it last night myself but ended up having a bath and going to bed. Sending you 🌟🌈🌈💃💫🌟🌈🌟🦄🦄🦄

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hope chaffinch has got on ok, can’t imagine having to trek somewhere else in a hospital to have it done that’s not specialist cancer dept, that’s a bit crap to do that isn’t it, it’s daunting enough isn’t it let alone going to Timbuktu to get it done cause they can’t accommodate. Let’s hope we dodge the canula trainees tomorrow, this learner made a right mess of my hand last Friday, if she comes near me i’ll Refuse her. Did you know ladies you can refuse to have someone and if someone has chuffed up after 2 goes you can ask for someone else, a woman who did my bloods last week told me that when she saw what that trainee had done to my hand. Just wanted to share so you can try and not become a pin cushion training ground. Love shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Karen, I too had headaches and a fuzzy head the first few days, seemed worse in the mornings. That hasn't been so bad this round.

PETA, thanks for dropping in any advice is much appreciated to help us navigate this journey!

Sam34, good luck for tomorrow, what time are you up, I'll send the 🚂👨🏻‍✈️

Runner, good job on the wig wearing, bet no one even noticed! A few people I know who've had chemo and wore a wig said no one even noticed.

I'm feeling much better now than I did 24 hours ago, hoping I'll feel this good tomorrow for LGFB!

Anyone heard from chaffinch? Hope she's ok!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Back from work now and nobody fell off their chair laughing at my wig so I feel a bit better now. I had a headache and fuzzy feeling the first couple of days last time but nothing too bad. Just reading the thread and I haven’t checked my armpit hair so I will need to do that tonight! Bloods tomorrow and all being well round 2 Friday. I’ve been out to eat a couple of times this cycle just sticking to places I trust and making sure the food is fresh and hot before I eat it so I’m sure you will be fine Sue. Xx

Hi Sue, yes carvery should be ok, check that it is all fresh cooked and not reheated and food is hot not just warm.  Sounds like an excuse for a lovely bit of pudding an custard too.  Hi Peta, thanks for dropping in on us here in Oct 17, 3 years on from your journey.  Lovely to hear you are all in touch from your Oct 14 thread, it a journey we couldnt get through without each other and we are lucky that we have ladies from May 17, July 17 and Sept 17 helping us through this too so thanks any advise is greatly appreciated.  We do have Meesh holding our chemo train driver at gunpoint making sure we all get through this safely and lots of strong amazing women in this Oct thread and as you can see we are also crazy frog too, brrrriiing ding, ding ding ding, remember that tune ladies, that what this feels like a bit doesnt it.  Karana hope you manage to get the apprentice in tonight, those rooms they did up last week ..... Lord Sugar must have had a stiff drink after seeing what they came up with.  Love and sparkles shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Ladies

I saw Oct 17 on top of the stack and thought I should drop in and say hi and send you best wishes!

I'm from the October 2014 thread, which seems such a long time away now, but it's still so fresh in my mind.

I'm still in touch with our Oct 2014 posse and they're all lovely ladies.  We all have hair again now, but my armpit hair never did grow back, hurrah for small mercies!

I hope it all goes well for you all, if any of you have any questions that I might be able to help you with please do feel free to ask.

Very best wishes to you all - I thought October was a good time to start chemo, because you can curl up at home and then when you finish it's just as Spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming and you're through to the other side.

Best wishes   xxx

Ive just ate some veg bake thing I made yesterday, didn’t really enjoy if but thinking if I eat I will feel better, my back is really aching and didn’t have that last time 😬 think I need to get some Epsom salts, will send someone to the shop!  OH has made me put pjs on so I can’t go downstairs!!

Reeboot, love that jumper, brillint find.  Yes Karana had a bit of a headache first couple of days but not enough to take paracetamol or anything, dont know how the other ladies got on with headaches? Hope everyones se's are doing ok and for those who've had round 2 today rest up and take it steady - Karana hope OH is letting you rest up a bit.  Me too Meesh I'll be bouncing off the walls, but again we have a good forum and someone is usually on in the night, so we always have someone there even during the night luckily as we all have the most crazy sleeping patterns dont we.  Apprentice tonight, anyone else watching it? Love Shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Karen, you won't be the only one still to have leg hair, as mine is still there. Still have arm hair judging by how it just hurt to take off my plaster (although probably a couple less now) but my arms are not that hairy so difficult to see.

My underarms are similar to chaffinches although both are still hairy im trying to work out if they've thinned slightly, one more than the other (but it's my op one that's hairier, probably because I haven't shaved it since the beginning of August) difficult to tell as the hair is so damn long!

Shi, hope you get a good time for tomorrow. I've been lucky to have mine in the morning, I think it gets it out of the way and also gets the steroids in you earlier so you can sleep at night!

Totally agree with you Shi....were all amazing in our own special way 🦄🌟🌟💃💫💫💪

Ive drank 2 1/2 pints of water since I’ve been home and now feeling very bloated, I’m still a bit headachey tho so not sure if water is helping with that 😬

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Meesh I am waiting for them to ring me with a time for tomorrow.  Ice Lollies at the ready tho.  Yep getting my 2L+ a day down me like a good girl, I never thought 2L+ a day would be so hard to drink did any of you?  Sue I am with you on the arm and leg hair still got mine in.  Mishy18 you are ahead of us how did you get on with the arm and leg hair?  Karana, agree that only ladies on the forum understand how we discuss everything from poo tips, sparkling tizer pee, radioactive body waste from the op to hair comparisons, and everything else we want to have answered, it really does help so very much to check with each other on se's and meds and gets us all through this journey and being crazy helps keep you sane during this if that makes sense.  I am in awe of the ladies who have worked throughout the chemo, you are amazing and then some.  Love Shi xx

My nunu hair seems to be shedding in patches, not a very pretty look, armpit seem to have almost gone and leg hair holding in...bet I will be one of those that don’t lose it!! What about hair on arms, mines not gone anywhere yet!

So who do we have on the chemo train for the rest of the week? Shi, you're tomorrow. Sam34 are you tomorrow or Friday? Runnerbean, you must be this week too? Gosh busy week for the chemo 🚂 👨🏻‍✈️

Well good luck everyone sending 🌈🦄🌟🌟🦄🌈🦄💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🌟🌟🦄🌈🌈 that all tests and chemo goes well for you and keeps those pesky side effects away!

Shi, hope you're drinking loads today! What time are you on tomorrow?

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Karen, glad you didn't miss the chemo🚂👨🏻‍✈️ And glad you're feeling ok. Hope it continues seems like the steak, veg, Guinness and 🌟🌟🌈🦄🌈🦄💃🏻🌟🕺🏻Worked for you! Love the thought of weeing sparkles! We can add it to the blue/ green wee after surgery and the tizer wee from chemo!

Dizzie, tried to wax my legs once omg ended up with wax everywhere. I used one of those heat in the microwave roll on jobbies, it ended up in the microwave, on the toilet seat, over the carpet and on the phone (my mum called right in the middle)! Vowed never to do that again. Thinking about it makes me Wonder if waxing would be too harsh on the skin after chemo though as they say the skin can be extra sensitive 😖

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Karana brilliant news that you are ok and had no 2, good luck chaffinch and hope no 2 goes well for you too.  Dizzy that would have been funny if he had been there and not 'popped out' and asked you what you were laughing at and you could have said meesh's foo foo hair down to her knees and her record breaking underarm hair ... he wouldnt ever ask you ask you again what you were laughing at.  Now that would be something to Pee sparkles, although on loose women they had that glittler bomb thing for the privates on a few weeks ago and that looked bizare to say the least.  I am all for a bit of glitter and sparkles but there is a line.  Meesh look where that movie mogul's 'popping out' has landed him these last few weeks ... you do make me belly laugh Meesh - thank you.  Love Shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hello everyone...bloods were back up to 1.8 so was able to have round 2 🛎 all went ok, nurse was a lot nicer this time and soaked my hand in warm water so no trouble with cannula and she explained things so much better too, and I got a sandwich! Now back home drinking water and munching on some crisps, feel ok just a bit strange, hoping things stay good xx

shi so pleased your levels are back up and you can have chemo 2 ....hopefully they will get it right this time and you won’t suffer so badly 😘 Glad you’re feeling bit better today Meesh, my LGFG course isn’t TIL the 21st Nov as was fully booked until then!!

Loving the idea of eating sparkles , shame they can’t change the red stuff into sparkly stuff then we could wee sparkles!!!

I had my coil taken out 5 days before 1st chemo and still not had a period but not sure how that will pan out, haven’t had one for years so think it will be a bit of a shock when and if it does happen!!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Runnerbean, that's a problem as I don't think it'd be easy cutting them with ✂️ 😂 although Shi did recommend a Braun lady shaver which might do the job. I think I already have one somewhere but I could only face doing legs with it!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi sue, I started loosing my lady hair about day 10 and my head hair day 14. I’m now on day 19 and it’s pretty much all gone from both places although I do still have hairy legs which is typical and not a good look! xx
