Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Jelly I hope you get that picc and dressing sorted soon, fingers crossed no blood clots.

Sue hope the physio goes ok. I'd have loved to have stopped in town for a hot chocolate, but OH only put an hour on the parking ☹️Don't think he really wanted me out and about in town.

I just got to hospital physio at 1.30 so stopped at wrvs shop walking through and got a lovely hot chicolate felt a bit sick and realised I hadn’t eaten since 8.30 and as little and often works best I got a banana too xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I love the scotch pancakes too, will definitely have to get some of those next time I go shopping.

Went into town with OH with my list of things to get, needless to say we only got those things and came home! Probably for the best though. It's rainy here too glad to be back home on sofa wrapped in a blanket with furry lap warmer fully ensconced! Now watching a crappy Xmas movie!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Jelly poor you the first nurse at unit doesn’t sound helpful, at least the district nurse admitted she wasn’t confident rather than do it and create a problem x

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies
Buddy, what can I say except send I huge hug, bless you having to self catheterise that's tough! Although you will probably get used to it as tough as you are! X
Ladies up today good luck xx
Ladies up yesterday fingers crossed for a smooth round xx
Picc bled badly Tuesday, rang the district nurse who wouldn't come out as she wasn't confident...rang the chemo unit and spoke to a nurse who advised me to change the dressing myself !!... My poor OH had to do it bless him but we managed and yesterday I spoke to the unit again ( different nurse ) and they asked me to go in for a proper dressing change and more scans for clots etc. I'll be glad when it settles down , if it ever does !
Have a good day girls if possible xxx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning again ladies, managed another hour and a half sleep. Had some fruit bread and just had a small bowl of porridge. Feeling less nauseous than last time but I’m nervous because I keep waiting for it to hit! The worst time was between 9pm and 2am so far.
Hope you get a good rest today Karen hand have a better night tonight. I’m a bit worried about the third steroid. Had one at 6:30, will have other ones at about midday and no later than 6pm and see how I get on. Will try to stay awake today so I’m tired tonight but I’m wiped out.
Meesh, glad you feel up to doing a bit of shopping but rest up when you get back. You’ve got another busy day on the πŸš‚ today too.
Good luck to everyone today. X

Hi. Good luck today Shi and Ruth. I'll see you on the roof later. Just been weighed and now waiting to see onc. Normal procedure for each of my visits.

Karen, hope you had a good night too, I slept ok until OH woke me at 4am this time to ask if I'd slept well! πŸŸπŸŸπŸŸπŸ‘‹πŸ»πŸ‘‹πŸ» but dud manage to get back to sleep for another 2.5 hours. I've done my yoga and meditation this morning and planning to go into town for a quick Xmas shop to pick up some last few bits. I'm going early before it gets busy and also whilst I'm still feeling relatively ok. Then I can come back and spend the afternoon on the sofa watching the 100 box set or crappy Xmas films.

have a good day ladies, hope the SEs are minimal!

Morning ladies! Buddyfan, hope you're ok after your fall, what a nightmare!

Chaffinch glad you got a good night in, hope you got back to sleep and that your new meds regime work for you. Let me know how you go with the jittery feeling as I get that too once I've come off the steroids so wonder if I'd benefit from a tapering approach too.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I’ve not had a bad night, had 2 Ondansetron at about 9:30pm and was in bed by 10. Woke up at 1am feeling queasy and didn’t think that I would get back off but I did. Woke up a few more times but not for long until I woke at 5. Had another Ondansetron and some water, me wee was an unhealthy colour because I struggled to drink last night because of nausea. I’ve managed nearly a pint now so hopefully ok. Steroids are 2mg 3 times a day today, twice a day tomorrow then one on Saturday. Not sure why the change. I think previous ones were 4mg 2 each morning maybe I’ll be less jittery with the lower dose and reducing dose over the 3 days. Time will tell!
Going to try going back to sleep for a bit now I’m rattling with tablets. I take Lansoprazole and 2 tablets for my thyroid in the morning too!
Wishing everyone a better day x

Buddyfan sorry to hear that you have had a rubbish day. It is so easy to say dontxworry but that is exactly what we would all do. Stay positive and reassure yourself that whatever it is they can sort it!!

Ladies starting T. I am on day 8 and after feeling despondent with the leg pain at the weekend, last night i had a good sleep and no leg pain. I feel so much better today. Just make sure you have co - codamol in and head the pain off - if it comes. I am also more tired and lack8ng in energy - but then i have had 4 lots of chemo!!

Good sleeps everyone xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Well I haven’t shaved armpits since I had first cycle and they not hairy and lady garden is silky smooth, a shame that will grow back although OH likes a landing strip πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Think I will take another Ondansetron at 10 if I’m still awake to be safe!!

πŸ˜±πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£sorry shouldn't laugh Chaffinch as it isntvreally funny, perhaps it forgot where to grow and should've been on your head?

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I think all my hair is sparser but still have it on arms, legs, pits and lady garden! I'm not a hairy person either, even if I am dark haired. Although hair on left side of my body is sparser than right (weird) not sure what that's all about!

Fingers crossed ladies that our fec SEs remain at bay this time! 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻Glad you're both doing better on the nausea front this time. Long may it continue!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

My OH went to grab what he thought was a loose hair on the edge of my jaw not far from my ear this morning because it thought it was a loose cat hair and it was about to fall into my breakfast but to our horror it was attached! What’s that about it was cat hair length but no idea where it came from. I don’t want a hairy chin e chin chin πŸ™€

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Chaffinch I’m now in bed watching tv but it’s like a waiting game as I feel Okish at mo! I shaved my legs 2 weeks ago and they haven’t grown back hardly so somethings happening...still got arm hair!! Xxx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I lost some eyelashes at the end of cycle 2 but haven’t lost any more and my eyebrows are hanging in there so far. Noticed today that leg hair is more sparse so hopefully that will all go this cycle!
So far seem to be coping better with nausea 🀞can’t wait to get to bed though. Don’t want to go too early because I want to sleep. Fingers crossed for the next few days ladies. X

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Well let’s hope it hair holds on!! My eyelashes are def a bit thinner and I’ve got bald patch on left eyebrow 😱 def think I maybe rocking the πŸ‘½ look for Xmas! Xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Yes definitely think we should all get one!

Karen, let's hope it snows for those 2 weeks after fec6 then we won't want/be able to leave the house πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Hair is still coming out although only a little this week. Top is still the worst and quite sparse on left half. I think the sides and back have thinned a bit the last couple of weeks but no balding patches yet so not visibly noticeable I can just feel it's thinner. Eyelashes are thinning too 😬as I keep finding them on my cheek under my eyes, but eyebrows seem to be ok.

Sorry buddyfan, that should have said that you do have several of those 9 lives left x
Member

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Sorry to hear about your day buddyfan. You don’t need any extra worry or health issues. Do do still have a few of those 9 lives lift though. Wishing you well with the further scans x
Well I’m back, went in pretty much on time, lovely nurse and cannula went in first time but it did hurt. Everything worked well though but I do have a bruised lump on the back of my hand. They used my left hand to give the right hand veins a break.
Feeling okish at the moment, queasiness just under the surface. I’ve managed some scrambled egg on toast and a couple of ginger nuts. I will take extra Ondansetron as soon as it starts getting worse. Interesting that they have said that you can take 3 Karen, I got a new box today so I might do that if I get desperate. Make sure you start the laxatives though it took me ages to get back to normal after having the double dose last time. Hope your side effects stay away this time you deserve it after the last cycle x
I asked Rollercoaster, who posted about the treatment of her 90 year old mum, how the second half of her 6 x FEC went for us all FEC girls. She cane back with a great reply which is worth a read. She said number 4 was ok and she got through number 5 by thinking it was nearly done but cycle 6 totally floored her and she didn’t get out of bed for 2 weeks. Worth knowing and she seems ok now she is out the other side.
Glad you enjoyed LGFB SueW, it does what it says on the tin 😊
Good luck to you train surfers later this week, all those hot pants will make quite a spectacle. I can see us all meeting up in Wonder Woman costumes or hot pants, can’t waut 😊

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Buddyfan, one grand national hurdle at a time lovely, don’t blow your mind with all the additional things that are currently going round after the day you’ve had. Get a big list of questions ready and speak to onc and your bc nurse, it’s easy to go stratospheric with too much info bombarding you and trying to process it all. Don’t google anything before you speak to onc and bc nurse with your questions. They will have a treatment plan for you and remember there are breakthroughs with treatments all the time, so never give up hope. Love you and keep strong πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ’•πŸ’•βœ¨βœ¨shi xx
