Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Sam, when I had my CT and bone scan I had to wait 3 weeks for the results-the longest 3 weeks of my life! I've had another CT scan since to see if a lymph node had shrunk and the results were with my onc when I saw her 3 days later. I might be wrong, but I would have thought if there was anything to worry about, you would have been contacted by now because they obviously can process the results quicker xx

Hi Sam, big hugs and ❤️❤️❤️For you. I think we will all go supersonic over everything from now on, it’s going to be something we will learn to manage in time and we can speak to our teams at the hospital where we can learn techniques to manage our moving forward journey. Remember how far you have come and how 💪💪💪you are, keep those positive pants pulled up good and high 😘😘💕💕shi xx

Ruth, 😂🤣😂🤣😂loved the 💩🦄 made me proper laugh!

Evening ladies! Had another busy day today what with work, rads and kitchen fitting going on.

Rach, do you reckon it's the tamoxifen that's making you grumpy?

Buddyfan, I'm just over 6 weeks post chemo and mine is still coming out a little bit but is also growing quite a bit too. I actually wore some mascara today and tried my eyelash curlers but a couple of lashes came out so will probably give that a miss for now. I didn't lose all my lashes during chemo but what's left is fairly sparse and some are long and some are short. I'm going to sort my leave out tomorrow so will let you know when I can get off.

Hi, I’m my way to rads. I did have LGFB today, it was fairly uninspiring but I think I’m just in a bad mood today. The ladies were lovely. Nothing exciting in the goodie bag and we all pretty much had the same. I sound like an ungrateful old bag but like i don’t think they could have won with me today. I’m very grumpy, I even thought about not going. Grump!

Lovely photo Cassie and well done to your man for doing everything right, hopefully! Did all the guests make it despite the snow?

It’s now six weeks since my last FEC. My eyebrows are growing back but my hair is still falling out in handfuls. I still have lower sides and fringe but top and back is v v thin. When does the hair stop falling out?

Ruth, absolutely love the pooping unicorn 😂🤣😂🤣

Karen, have a lovely meal out today. Good to have someone waiting on you for a change.🤗🤗

I’m just sitting in the waiting room waiting for my 6th rads at 8am.
Sun is shining here too but heavy rain forecast for this afternoon. Glad to get here in the dry though.
Hope this week is kind to everyone, should be less challenging than last week hopefully 🤞

Morning ladies!

What a lovely photo Cassie 😘😘😘

It’s nice to get up and see sunshine this morning....most of the white stuff got washed away by rain last night so apart from traffic my trip to hospital should be quite easy! Appoint is 912 this morning....it’s OH Birthday today so we gonna go out somewhere for lunch as not easy to get out in the evenings!

Have a great day everyone......found this song for today 💃💃💃🎶🎶🎶💃💃💃

Good morning ladies,

Just saying helllo after popping in to see Cassie’s photo. After finishing rads, I got busy getting back into “normal” life so haven’t been keeping up with the forum. Sorry xx I hope everyone is keeping well.

And funnily enough my brand new lightweight handheld vacuum arrived last week and my OH found it hilarious that I kept giggling as I was setting it up 😂😂

Lots of love and to everyone xx

I am just over 2 weeks since last chemo. Third T hit me like a super truck and I have been fighting the fatigue ever since. But hopefully will be better each week. Had rads planning last week and start date is set for 14th March.
Lots of love to all you lovely ladies - hope rads are whizzing by for those having them and hope you are all looking after yourselves 💕💕💕

Hi ladies. I havent posted for a bit but ive still been checking in. Last friday was my little sisters wedding. It was amazing. It also marked my 6 weeks since chemo milestone and I danced my legs off in celebration. Heres a pic of me and the man who has kept me sane, looked after me, and also given me a kick up the bum when ive needed it.

Hi Jencat, I suffered with an upset stomach all the way through but it got much worse when I had the first T and landed me in hospital for 4 nights. In the end they just put me on Imodium which did the trick. Had to stay on it for about 3 weeks after chemo finished but I’m fine now.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies!

Karen, well done you for your night out, I'm not going to even ask why you were trying to do the splits 😂🤣😂 I remember doing cartwheels and handstands in the garden with my 2 little cousins about 10 years ago. The next day I woke up feeling like someone had beaten me up in the night and couldn't work out why at first. I ached everywhere 😂

Jencat, I had a bad tummy on my 5th cycle and I think that was due to a mix of chemo, meds, antibiotics, injections and virus. i think my body had just had enough of everything that was being put in it and was trying to purge itself as quick as possible.

I've had goodness knows how many hoovers over the last 20 years, they just don't seem to last very long in our house at all (I'm not a hoovering maniac in case you're all wondering). I had one dyson but wasn't impressed with it, I've had vaxes for the last 7 years. Sorry I don't know what an iron is? 😂🤣😂

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Jencat - if it's Docetaxol chemo - then yes I did!  Only A&E visit I made whilst on chemo (as I was extremely fortunate) was due to excessive diarreah after 1st of these (I'd previously been on EC which has the opposite side effect!)  - and after tests etc it was confirmed it was due to the chemo!

It could also be worsened by the antibiotics, as they can cause stomach problems on their own!

My advice is to drink plenty of water to re-hydrate and maybe some flat coke cola and slices of fresh apple.  Otherwise just bland stodgy foods....!  ergh horrible days now in my memory bank thankfully!

Keep strong for the final lot of side effects xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning everyone, hope you all have a lovely day today x

Sorry to lower the tone a bit, but did any of you have upset stomachs when you were on chemo and if so, how long did it last for? Got a feeling some of you did? Not had this on any of the other cycles, had the opposite! I'm eating bland food, which is difficult, tastes even more like cardboard!

Got the hospital tomorrow for a line flush, (still got PICC in, haven't said when they're taking it out yet!) so will mention it then if it's still a problem, but it's getting me down a bit now. Seems with this last chemo that as soon as I feel better from one SE, another comes along to take it's place! Although the upset stomach could also be a SE of the antibiotics I only finished last Tues as it was a bit upset with the previous antibiotics I took or perhaps it's a comination of the two! Thank goodness that was my final round of chemo Smiley Happy xx.

Oh, and forgot. A friend has a Dyson and recently got a roomba. After the Dyson had done its thing, the roomba ten picked up three more loads of muck. I really think Dysons are overrated and very expensive.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Re the vacumns. When we used to have a cleaner, years ago, she had access to clients vacumns of all types, from high end Dysons downwards. She said the best were Henrys so that's what we've always gone for. In fact, they're so cheap we've got an upstairs and downstairs one. Saves carrying up and down. It has a massive long cord, you're only pushing the head around, not the whole vacumn so it's light enough for me to use.

Karen, I'm really glad your OH has been told the raw facts. We all knew the 🥓🥓 would tire you out.

Snow has nearly gone, I expect they'll be flooding as we live near a river and its flood plain. It's a very old house though, and the church and our house are on the high ground in the village. We frequently have floooding but it never, ever gets near the house. It was so bad, year before last, that there was a trout swimming on a path. They knew what they were doing back in the day.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

No surprised you needed an early night last night Karana! I’ve only done one week of rads and I was in bed by 9.20 on Friday and 10 last night and I don’t have to do the running around that you do all I’ve done is walking to and from appointments and a desk job!
Most of our snow has gone now which is good because it was horrible and squishy and dirty yesterday. Off out for Sunday lunch later not something we do that often so should be nice.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies just had a quick read thru the thread and trying to catch up!!  I so understand the excitement of getting a new Hoover...I really need to get one...I use a Henry to clean pub but he’s def on his last legs and need replacing!!

Buddy your FIL sounds amazing!!

i went to bed at 930last night as was exhausted after night out on Friday....think I forgot for a little while that I’ve been poorly!  My hip and knee hurt this morning, must’ve been the dancing or maybe me trying to do the splits 🤪 Didnt sleep too well was very restless!!

Gonna take younger son to work this morning...my dad has been doing it on a Sunday but he’s still struggling to get car out of his drive so I said I would as need to get OH something for his birthday (which is tomorrow 😱) we going a bit earlier so we can go to Costa first!

OH was very quiet and thoughtful looking when he got home from footy....think his sister may have had a word with him as he said she cld tell from my messages that I’m struggling a bit 😱 she’s quite good at getting him to see what’s right in front of him!!

whats everyone got planned for today?

A new hoover is on a par with a new iron - love them!! My mum always said she loved watching the washing blowing on the line and i thought she was mad but now i love it too! What does age do to us!!

We have no snow here in Liverpool - much to the kids regret!

I still have a sore arm after my mx - except there is nothing to see and its not sore to tpuch - it is just inside! Apparently its the nerve endings. So i am sitting here with my heart cushion undrr my arm. My steri strips are off though and the scar is great.

Wow Runnerbean, how good is your work! They must really appreciate you xxx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Runnerbean, after all we've been through over the last 6-9 months I can understand you getting excited about a new Hoover! Sorry to hear about your neighbour I think you're right all you can do is keep offering to take her shopping as she may get fed up of getting a taxi after a while or maybe she'll run out of money first 😂

Buddyfan, your FIL sounds like a really strong man and it's good to hear OH is on the mend I hope he can sort those radiators out and you can get yourself nice and warm.

Fairydust, I keep thinking about going out in the cold but I then think errrm no I don't think so! 😂I'm going to use the excuse that the snow is all falling off the roof and so it's a death trap 😂

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Wow, Buddyfan, your FIL sounds like a superhero..what is his superhero name..??

Glad your OH is doing well, hope you're ok too..

I was toying with building a snowman (just for a nice exercise to do), but then said no. 🙂

Reading in bed instead and then will play a computer game, as I like to do.

However, will join a cancer rehabilitation scheme soon as I still get breathless and have a dodgy hip, I think from chemo, so need to sort these out. Am going through rads at the moment, first week done, so far so good..

Hope all you ladies have a lovely day.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Glad your husband is up and about again Buddyfan, once he’s been fed of course! Your FIL sounds like an amazing man, he must have much more energy than me. We don’t have any snow here must be the only place in the country that doesn’t. My next door neighbour died in the week, not a great surprise as he was in his 90,s and hasn’t been well for a few years. I have been to talk to his wife and she is being so strong and not accepting any help from anyone. She is getting a taxi to go shopping when she could just hitch a lift to Morrison’s with us. Guess all I can do is keep offering so she knows we are here if she needs us xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Wow Runnerbean, that's great of your work. One less worry.

My OH has improved immensely overnight. He's now up and walking again, well he will be after he's had breakfast in bed. First job is to bleed the bleeding radiators. Trouble is he has to go in the attic to do the overflow one otherwise it's pointless doing the others.

We've had another layer of snow, it's completely white over again. My 82 year old FIL has gone to help at Park Run and then he does run after. Don't know if will today. He's the fittest person in the house atm. In last 8 years he's had prostate cancer with secondaries in kidney and lung. All dealt with by surgery and 🥓🥓 and he's still going strong. He also brought me in, three little truck loads of wood from our wood store, to keep me going while OH was out of action. What a hero.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

My new hoover has just been delivered. I must be very sad as I’m quite excited about trying it. The old one was too heavy and cumbersome since all my treatment so I have a lightweight cordless one now. Think I need to get a life 😂😂I’m planning to do more cooking now I have time so looking for some new recipes to try next week. I also went on a works do on Thursday night and the boss said he doesn’t want to see me in work till April, I will do a bit from home but at least I have some time to get my strength back now. I know I have been very lucky with work, they still haven’t classed me as sick so I’ve had full pay throughout so it’s one less thing I have had to worry about. Hope you all manage to keep warm and have a great weekend xx

Good mornings ladies 😘😘clairebell and meesh all this talk of fish and chips 😋😋😋that’s tonight’s meal sorted, but swapping the fish for a pie. No snow here overnight so main roads not doing too bad now. Just having a bit of cheese on toast for breakfast. Meesh, perhaps he wants to do that snow barbecue scene from that advert? Can you get him to do some hoovering while he’s on a dodge mission? Use it to your advantage 👍👍👍 hope everyone has nice things planned for today, keep warm and keep safe 💃🏻💃🏻🕺🕺💃🏻💃🏻💕💕shi xx

Hope you ladies are managing to stay stay safe and warm. OH had cleared the patio of snow (don't ask me why, I have no idea just another pointless thing, i think to put off painting the kitchen ceiling) and is now out there doing it again 🙄

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies
Hope you can enjoy the snow and it's not inconveniencing you - stay wrapped up warm. The four of us has a lovely wintery walk in it to the pub for fish and chips last night! The girls school was probably the only school in Surrey that stayed open, so they deserved a treat!
Sue I know what you mean about appointments I had one at 5.40, then 2.30 and Mondays is 9.40am makes it hard to plan anything else! But I did manage to go to a lovely coffee morning to a friends who's daughter has an inoperable brain tumour. Makes you realise how lucky some of us are to be able to have an operation or treatment that is potentially going to eradicate our cancers. It was good to eat cake and raise a glass to anyone on chemo with inoperable tumours.
Stay strong, keep dancing and live each day to the full! You are all marvellous women 🙂
Love you all,
Cx
