Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies...

chaffinch glad you’ve sorted out what to do for the best...sounds like your mum will appreciate your help once you’ve had all your appoints and hopefully by then your cold will have gone x

Me, Meesh & Buddyfan had a lovely catch up at Piano Tea Rooms yesterday, was a very nice place and we had a great toasted sandwich and massive piece of cake!  It’s always nice when we can put a face to a name, it’s weird as me and Meesh have only met up a couple of times before this bit it’s like we know each other really well...the joys of this Forum I think!!  Buddy....have you started on your Mosaic or cross stitch yet???

Whats everyone got planned this weekend?  I’ve got a couple of friends popping over this afternoon apart from that it’s just the usual pub work!!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Thanks everyone. I’m having my last radiotherapy this morning. I have developed a cold now too so my mum who had loads of people rallying round yesterday said that she would rather I concentrate on getting well because she can’t afford to lose anyone else. My ED has offered to go up there too. My said that would rather I went up there in a couple of weeks yo deal with some of the practical stuff like his car and his wood turning equipment. I feel terrible not going but I know that she’s right. I’m exhausted at the moment and she doesn’t need a cold. I also have a bone scan on Monday and my third Herceptin on Wednesday. I’m just so grateful to the people who are looking after her.

Chaffinch, so sorry. 🤗🤗🤗🤗 at such a hard time. I hope you have sorted in your mind what is primarily best for you. Whether that is finishing the rads or going to your mum. What would your mum rather you do? 🤗🤗

So sorry to hear your news Chaffinch, sending you big hugs ❤️❤️ As Shi has already said think what your Dad would want you to do regards your last 2 Rads. If your last appointment is early in the day you could be with your Mum tomorrow xx

Oh chaffinch darling, big hug and ❤️❤️Round you. Glad you have been able to post on here, you’ll be in shock and loosing a parent whether you are close or not is still loosing a parent, you will have a rollercoaster of emotions as it is as well as finishing your rollercoaster of treatments. Speak to your team about the last 2 rads and see what they suggest and also think what your dad would want you to do. Just take things one day at a time, do you have any brothers or sisters that could be with your mum in these first few days? Or could your husband pick her up and bring her to your house for a couple of days if not? Thinking of you 😘😘💕💕shi xx

Chaffinch I’m so sorry to read your post...my thoughts are with you and also sending you love and hugs xx

I think you just need to do what’s right for you...like Meesh says if you stay and finish rads you could leave tomorrow but if you feel you need to go today I’m sure they can reschedule your last 2.  Losing a parent is still a big loss whether you were close or not 💖

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Chaffinch, I am so sorry to hear your news sending you lots of love and hugs. It is very difficult to know how to feel in a situation like this as it's not nice for people to suffer but it is hard on the people left behind and it's still your dad at the end of the day. It's so hard being so far away too. Obviously it's up to you about your treatment but your appts are early morning aren't they so you could be on your way to your family tomorrow morning with your treatment all done and can then focus on what needs to be done there and stay as long as you need to. I'm thinking of you though and you should know by now you can post whatever you like on here and we'll be here with love and support. 😘😘

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I’m lost 😥. It’s 4.40am and my dad died 2 hours ago. He’s been ill for over a year and in hospital for the past month. I wasn’t there. My mum had a close friend with her who lost her husband about 18 months ago. I’ve got 2 radiotherapy sessions left which my mum wants me to stay and do. Not sure how to feel. We weren’t particularly close. I’ve always had an odd relationship with my parents both of whom could be described as autistic spectrum probably me too. My mum lost her parents when I was a baby and they had no contact with his parents for many years and as an adult I lived closer to them and spent a lot of time with my grandad particularly when he was dying. I’ve never entirely forgiven them for completely cutting them loose but that doesn’t stop me caring. I live 150 miles away but have developed more of a bond with my dad over the past year after he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer then I was diagnosed. My emotions are so mixed. He had been a fit active clean living man but has had several serious health issues over the past 14 years he was only 75 and really didn’t look it. He hated being house bound and unable to look ok after himself. He was almost relieved when he was put into palliative care and his death is a release for him and my mum who has hated watching him deteriorate.
Just noticed that the dawn chorus has started, life goes on and the world is still turning.
Hope you don’t mind my post and that it doesn’t upset anyone particularly those of you who have recently lost loved ones. I just had to get my feelings out in some way 😪. Thanks for listening xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

What a shame Shi x
It’s been a beautiful day here. After rads I went for coffee with hubby then he went back to work and I mooched around the shops for a few hours then met up with him again and walked home via a nice cup of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle in the park 😊.
Might even go to the pub quiz tonight. I’ve already walked 7 miles today, but it’s been so lovely, what a contrast to the weekend!!
I also had a very exciting moment this morning when I was walking from the hospital I felt the amazing sensation of the wind in my hair 💃💃😊
Hope everyone has had a good day xx

Sorry you’re LGFG sessions wasn’t any good Shi!  It’s rubbish when you’re looking forward to something and then it’s such a let down!

The sun sun is shining here today but I don’t seem to have a lot of inspiration to do much...have dropped OH off to help a friend out and after a shop at Aldi I’m back home!  There’s lots I shld be doing but can’t be bothered!  I’ve broken a nail so maybe I’ll fix that!

Hope everyone one else is doing ok

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Sue everyone else was getting stuff like d&g and a perfume out and mine was rimmel, no7, Avon and what looked like a 99p lip balm, I can buy that any day of the week if I want to. Which is why I left it and left the session, rather someone who is going to use it get it. It would have just sat in the bag at my house if I’d taken it which would be a waste. Never mind, I’ve been and had a nice cup of tea with my hubby by our pond and listened to the birds singing, so just reminded myself that nature’s beauty is free and never disappoints 👍👍😁😁🌳🌳🦋🦋🐞🐞🦆🦆💕💕shi xx

Well the lgfb bag is a load of rubbish so I’ve left the session before it starts, I won’t use any of it and I didn’t want to spoil anyone’s afternoon. I wish I’d taken my own makeup I would at least been able to stay and have the tips from beauticians, so ladies take your own makeup is the tip from me. 💕💕shi xx

Primrose yellow glitter for me please, Shi x
It’s weird coming towards the end of radiotherapy. I feel I’d like to celebrate especially because YD comes home on Friday for Easter, my last day. However, I will still be having Herceptin every 3 weeks for the next year which is still active treatment of a sort. Think I will still celebrate though because it is a milestone 😊

Hello all, such great news that so many of us are at the end or near to of active treatment , if we don't count hormone therapy as active!
Am in tomorrow for mx with diep reconstruction, be so wonderful to have all the cancer removed finally! Will be in a week or so , so am packing my case with all sorts of stuff I'll probably not need!
Hugs to all and can I have bright blue glitter please Shi?

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Shi, I’ll have gold glitter with hints of red and purple please!

As if I haven’t got enough worry about. My 26yr old son gets home from his ski season on 16th April. He has booked flights for Uganda for 21st April. So when is he going to get his jabs????!!! He has been before but it’s very basic. He’s white water kayaking on the White Nile and living in the local village, really basic huts. I know he’ll need some jabs as some were only 5yr doses. I know I shouldn’t worry and he should sort it out himself but I’m a mum so I am worried.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hello ladies! Just spent a couple of days down in Essex with my family which was nice, although I didn't sleep well due to their poorly old dog and my hot flushes. Also had to come home early yesterday as it was snowing badly in the morning ☹️ I slept really well last night though best night sleep in months.

no snow here but really cold!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

No, nothing has been mentioned about removing it. I think if it's OK, they just leave it. I have been offered to have my ovaries removed, instead of the zoladex injections, but I'm not good with surgery, so will continue with the injections. Like I said, the only difference was the type of hormone therapy offered, and that doesn't affect you.

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Sue,

You mentioned having a large fibroid, I have many fibroids and I wondered if you had ever been advised on whether to have it removed at all? I look very bloated with mine, but not sure if surgery to remove is ever recommended? My bc is TN, so will not be on any hormone treatment.

Thanks fro Fairydust.
