Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

@carole_balmedie  Sorry just seen your reply ... I’m in Elgin so travel back and forth to Aberdeen for appointments.
I downloaded the Calm app to my phone and started using it last night and it’s fab.. lots of great things to calm the mind etc.
My Hair !!! Omg it’s coming out in clumps 😳what a shock.. just happened all of a sudden... don’t think it will see chemo day on Friday to be honest. I was wearing a silk cap in bed but it’s just made it matted and I looked like a hobo today 😂... but to be honest it’s been making me anxious losing my hair so I think I will better once the deed is done. How’s yours doing? X

Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

Hi @carole_balmedie ... I’m feeling less anxious today but didn’t sleeP well last night as anxious still when waking up .. I’ve taken anti sickness meds and they really help.
My second cycle on Friday so hoping I manage the nausea better this time as I will know to take meds before feeling sick... plus I am on omeprazole now for acid reflux so hoping that helps too... it’s good to be getting on with the treatments too isn’t it.
I was out today with dogs enjoying the sunshine too. But cold but great to be out. Where do you live Carole? X

Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

Morning Lottie, oh no, sorry to hear that, I know it’s easier said than done but keep positive, we all have great teams looking after us and the regime we are on is gonna kick the 🤬 out of the park!

I have been trying to keep a normal a routine as possible, 1st week was rough but ok, nausea was the worst! Being at work really helps me, so busy I don’t have time to think about it. I must admit I feel very lucky when I hear of other side effects folk are having 😞

Like you not looking forward the the 4th cycle, but that is the regime that is so important for HER2 cancers. We just need to be kind to ourselves and have the odd gin or wine when feeling good 😊

My 2nd cycle is on Thursday, so hoping side effects are the same, wrote them down every day last time so I have something to compare them to 🤞🏻

Enjoy your weekend, the sun is shining up where I am today ☀️ xx

Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

@carole_balmedie  How are you feeling this week ? I’ve been ok until my anxiety kicked in big time ... I’m on 10mg of citalopram at the moment as I’ve been on them a long time but may need to increase them ... I read about our second treatment and it’s got me in a right panic .. but I know I need to just calm down and get my head around it. Xx

Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

Hi Carole .... do you change treatment plan after 3 EC? I go onto another 3 of Pertuzumab and Trastuzumab then. Has anyone else been in these?

Re: February 2021 Chemo Starters

Hi @LottieLaing and all in the Feb21Chemo starters 🙂 I was diagnosed with HER +ve BC on 12th Feb and came out of appointment pretty pissed off and angry, this wasn’t supposed to happen in the year I retire, not on my agenda at all 🤬

This is my first post on the forum after reading all your comments over the last week or so. I started my first of 3 EC on the 25th, now day 13 already. The first few days for me were the worst, very tired and nauseated but religiously took my anti sickness tablets till about day 6. Appetite went out the window, but oh me back with a vengeance just now!

The Filgastrim injections were ok, no major side effects except for some spasms of pain at my lower back going through to my lower tummy, lasted a couple of days.

I managed to tolerate the cold cap so keeping fingers crossed.......started the hunt for a wig....not easy in lock down but have a lovely lady who is sending me them to try, think I’ve found one but need a fringe cut into it, getting this done soon, just in case my hair starts falling out 😏

I’m trying to keep as normal a routine as I can when I’m feeling good, worked from home for 1st week but have been back full time this week and feeling ok, even managed a long walk on Saturday. I’m embracing this while I still can function at nearly 100% because I know it is more than likely to get worse as each cycle come on board.

2nd EC on 18th, so hope to continue my journey chatting to you all and sharing experiences and support xx

Re: Started chemo 26th Feb

Hi Linda - if you go onto say the February 2021 chemo starters thread, just click “reply” at the bottom of any message, just as you did when replying to my message on here, and a new box will come up. Your message will then go to the top of the message thread - so you don’t actually need to reply what was written in the message, just introduce yourself and go from there. I hope that makes sense, but please ask again if it doesn’t work - it’s always easier to do than explain!

Hi Linda (LottieLaing) - welcome to the forum, I’m really sorry you find yourself here but glad you have found us all and hope you will find the forum supportive and helpful.

You might want to join the February 2021 or March 2021 chemo starters groups, so that you can compare notes with others who are at the same stage as you. Please ask if you need any help navigating the forum - or if you have any other questions at all.

My very best wishes and big hugs to you as you go through treatment, Evie xx

Started chemo 26th Feb

Hi Ladies my name is Linda and I’m so happy to have found this forum.
I had my first chemo on 26th Feb. I’m on EC for 3 cycles then it changes if all is going well.
My first one wasn’t as scary as I had anticipated... had bad nausea for a day which lessened with tablets. ... horrendous indigestion... and blurry vision ( scary) but was checked out at A&E and all ok .

I managed out for a walk on Friday and felt good getting out ... but it seems there are still days that surprise you.. got up for a pee at 4 am went back to bed and lay down to sort of flashing images when I closed my eyes.. then had a hot flush .. then pain in my stomach and chest... nothing major and it passed but my god if fills you with anxiety

Thanks for listening / reading ladies... such a relief to talk to you all
