Re: Scalp cooling and shampoo/conditioner

I had wonderful results with the cold cap - just a bit of thinning and this was my routine:

Wash once about a week after chemo with cool water and NOT under a shower. No special shampoo.

Pat dry DO NOT RUB.

Give about 4 squirts of a leave in conditioner.

Comb with a wide tooth comb

THEN LEAVE IT ALONE until the next week and repeat.

The more you fiddle with it the more it sheds. Do that routine even after your last chemo and only go "back to normal" as in under a shower, more than one wash, wash out conditioner, hair dryer, straighteners or whatever a good month after your last treatment - but I left it 6 weeks.

Re: Scalp cooling and shampoo/conditioner

Hi there

i am using it and I think it's working for me. I have had 3 treatments and yes I am losing hair but at least up to now, I still have enough hair so as not to have to wear scarves or hats.

I don't really know if it will keep like this for the rest of the chemo (still 5 to go).

it might or might not but worth trying.

I had my hair cut in a pixie right before the second chemo session. I was it once or twice a week and I am using some baby shampoo. I never use conditioner so I bought some from Tesco to use when wearing the cold cap.

Let me know if you have any more questions about it. I hope this helped 😊

Scalp cooling and shampoo/conditioner

Hello, can I ask how many people scalp cooling was successful for? And which shampoo and conditioner would you recommend for use during chemo? Many thanks 😊
