Re: Introduction

Hi @kateyclaire

I’m 50 and also have 2 grown up children

i was diagnosed in August, had a lumpectomy and 19 nodes removed. Currently going through Chemo. Later on will come radiotherapy and hormone treatment… but my main point is to say that you’re not on your own with not knowing how your children are /seem to be dealing with it.

I have found peoples reactions very very surprising.  Some have been in a good way but others have been a real shock to the system.

please feel free to message me if you want to xxx

Introduction

Hi,

I am 52 and was diagnosed with DCIS after a routine mammogram in May 2021. No node involvement. I had a lumpectomy followed by 15 sessions of radiotherapy finishing 3 weeks ago.
I work as a nurse in a hospice and haven’t returned to work yet. I have burning/ shooting and squeezing pain from radiotherapy.

I have  2 girls away at uni and am not sure how they are coping .

They seem quite dismissive as if it was cut out so now all gone.

I look forward to moving on.

Re: Wigs

Hi

Ive just ordered one online from wigbank

they have very reasonable priced ones so I thought I’d try there first. My in person wig appointment, although gave me ideas of what to look for, I didn’t find anything that I wanted to actually use/ spend that type of money on. So I’m hoping my gamble pays off.

I think also that I still had hair when I went for a wig fitting (buzz cut hair, but still hair)

the difference now is that I am pretty much bald and have bought bandanas today, which is fine but I do think I would like a proper wig to feel a bit less weird 😳 xx

Re: Wigs

Hey, you can get quality wigs from the site: https://hairme.co.uk/

They sells wigs for all texture and types of hair.

The wigs have a lace, which would create a natural look for you and its comes with a band which would give you a secure fit.

I hope that helps

People told me this was the time to experiment with something completely different - but I wasn’t that brave! I’m sure you will find a glam one - good luck. Evie xx

Re: Wigs

Hi @justine1970 - I also went to a salon for my wig. I hope you find one you like - they had to trim the one I liked best to suit me better, so bear that in mind if one is close but not perfect. Sorry I haven’t used an online site so can’t help, but hopefully someone else will come along. Evie xx

Wigs

Hi

did anybody order a wig on line and do you have any tips please?

I have a fitting tomorrow at a salon but worried I won’t find one I like and possibly start my treatment next week, my plan is being set on Monday.

I have found a site called Tranchco if anyone has used it?
