Hi everyone hope you are all doing OK on this journey through bc!
I have recently had my 3rd annual mammo in January, thankfully all OK. In March I was surprised to receive a letter for my regular 3 year appointment! I was a little taken aback having so recently had my annual appointment. I called the bc unit and asked if I needed to have another mammo so soon. The lady on the phone was so apologetic saying "I'm sorry i see you are on annual appointments arent you, unfortunately our systems don't talk to each other and the letter you received is for the 3 year screening appointment". I asked if I had to attend and she told me no can't be screened for at least 6 months after a follow up (unless there is a problem of course). She then explained I should continue with my annual appointments for another 2 years (that will be my 5 altogether) and then guess what I will then be due for my next 3 year screening appointment the following year - so not 5 years annual mammos but 6! Arent we lucky ladies.
Just wanted to put this here in case anyone else has similar thing.
I am glad I checked it out because I know now what will happen in year 6. It caught me by surprise but its good to know they are looking out for us on this journey.
Stay well and positive everyone and this forum is a fountain of knowledge for us all in this kinda exclusive group xx

When I had mine post op, I advised the lady that I had had surgery on that side for bc and she manually adjusted the paddles, she apologised that she needed to get it as tight as possible so that they got a good image but it did help that she did it that way. I also took paracetamol an hour before the apt xx
Thank you for replying rubycat. Nice to hear something positive and thanks for the advice on taking painkillers xx
Panic not Pippin!! All should be ok, take some pain killers about 20mins before you go. All hospitals are different of course and think it depends on what you've had done. I just had WLE, & am now into my third year, so have had two mammos since. Last year was fine, just like the mammos were prior to getting bc. First one would have been just as painfree, but I'd had a seroma drained the day before, so it did hurt, but even got through that. YOu should find it all ok, still that horrible waiting for results though, that never goes away. Do hope you find it bearable. xxx
Hi all I have my first yearly appointment tomorrow and feeling very anxious. Can anyone tell me what happens and what tests they may do. Thanks hope you are all doing ok x
