Re: The winter blues are back

Hi Shi. Yep, you get it completely. Truly don't mind what we call it. Just stuck a CD on and working up to a therapeutic boogie & dance. And have a candle twinkling away for us all. X

Re: The winter blues are back

Think wonky came up with the idea because anyone who is struggling to see light at end of tunnel (there was a post both of us replied to yesterday where someone was) so think wonkys idea is everyone can send light to each other so everyone knows there are lights being shone for people to keep looking for when they are struggling at any point in the journey at any stage 👭👭 just shining a bit more light and love towards each other 👭 does that sound about right wonky? I thought it was a lovely idea 💡 that wonky had, don’t know if you want to title thread shine a light for each other or something like that, not sure if you’ve thought of title wonky? 💕💕✨✨Shi xx

Hi Wonky! Not sure what a string of lights post is but it sounds like a good idea. Go for it....

Hi Spice, that sounds a bit better. Just smiling as I think of that phrase "dance like no-one is watching". I have a neighbour who dances whilst he Hoovers and though I'm not a Nosey Parker, sometimes hard to not notice as he has big windows and very good John Travolta moves. Makes me smile.

I invested in a Free View Box a few years ago, works off an Ariel, cost maybe £50 ( one off outlay) but gets you lots of extra channels, better choice. Does me grand.

Been having a little bit of a chat with Shi ( on here) of late and we kinda came to same conclusion it might be nice to try to start a 'string of lights' theme, for over Christmas/Winter. What do you think, should I start a post??? Let me know what you think! Wonky X

Re: The winter blues are back

Thanks Wonky, I know that there isn't a lot I can do about the recurrence fears  but I agree with you that playing music and singing along is great therapy. I have luckily had chance to do this when my husband goes to the pub on weekends. During the week it's impossible as I don't get home from work til late so have to put up with the rubbish on terrestrial TV (can't afford cable or satellite). Thanks for being so upbeat and optimistic though, much appreciated x

Now there our Spice Girl, hold your horses! Not disagreeing with you, but things you can do to make Winter better maybe.....nice candles, comfy throws, your favourite foods and a while ago some of us agreed that sticking on a favourite CD at full blast and having a mad sing along/dance around can help.

Sorry little help, but just wanted to say something. Hug from Wonks.

The winter blues are back

Well yesterday it happened. A FB friend of mine who has been battling courageously with TNIB sadly passed away. I took to the cancer well-being group in work for support and found that one of the members has also been diagnosed stage 4 20 years after getting the all clear. As a result my mood just plummeted and I am now rock bottom in a pit of despair. Why do these things happen in Winter when I am already struggling with depression? (I have severe Seasonal Affective Disorder) As soon as the blues set in I start wishing I could retire and get on and do the things I want before it is too late. It seems as if everyone will get a recurrence sooner or later and I am filled with dread at ending up unfulfilled and dying in service just to get dispatched and forgotten. It is made worse by my having Asperger's Syndrome and no family or close friends to turn to. I don't believe in counseling or medication as to me it is just a smokescreen to mask the problems not cure them. I know what works and that is for me to get out in the day light walking not be stuck in a dark office and  do the activities I enjoy preferably in a group but sadly there are none which take place in the evening or weekend. It looks like I am back in my catch 22 again ☹️
