Am going to have a masectomy on Wednesday.Has all been a shock to the system. The DCIS was found with a routine mammogram. Have decided not to have reconstruction.

i like you had a shock diagnosis 10 months after a normal mammo, My GP thought it was nothing and am having a mastectomy week on Wednesday.I had never heard of dcis until now so I totally understand how you are feeling.I am having reconstruction and reduction which was advised to me on diagnosis.Hope all goes well for you Wednesday I am so anxious and still have just over a week to go xxxxx

I found out two weeks ago I had DCIS after my first mammogram in shock still am! It was a 8cm cluster of calcification so I had a mastectomy last Thursday still in shock not had time to process any of it? Not sure how to feel! I’m having reconstruction with implant I currently have a expander in and not sure if I need radiation yet ?
