In my case it isn’t part of the protocol to have dexa scans apparently. I am having it not to stop osteoporosis. I am having it to reduce the chance of breast cancer spreading to my bones. 

I had the same concerns as you probably have but I am taking AdCal3 tablets twice a day as well as having six of these infusions over a three year period, two a year.

You say 'It apparently reduces to chance of reoccurrence!"  It actually is prescribed to limit calcium lose and  bone thinning which is a side effect of hormone therapy . So if you are on hormone therapy  ( Letrozole etc ) it is wise to get a DEXA scan to see if you are have Thinner  bones.In which case  ZOLEDRONIC ACID is prescribed to Essen that effect .Hope the helps .

I am on a regime of zoledronic acid every six months for three years so I am quite keen on not getting my jaw rotting or my inner ear for that matter either. 

I should mention the osteonecrosis of the jaw and/or inner ear are very very rare side effects.

Apparently dental osteonecrosis is more likely the worse your teeth are, so I have been to the dentist who said he thought it would be very unlikely I would get it as I go regularly to the dentist and clean my teeth regularly. He said use a soft toothbrush, use dental floss and or brushes to get out everything from between your teeth, and clean them twice a day once am and once pm.

I find my electric toothbrush cleans better than a soft toothbrush so I use that from time to time too.

I am going to the dentist twice a year now lockdown is over and I have the appointments about a month before my zelodronic acid infusion so the next dental appointment is in June. My dentist was good and is willing to give me appointments whenever I ask. I have to pay though! The NHS rate…

I am aged 67 by the way. My teeth predate the introduction of fluoride being added to water which means my teeth are probably worse than anyone born more recently, say in the 1960s…

Zoledronic Acid is one of the mediication that my oncologist will be prescribing, but I haven't started on it yet as I just finished radiation treatment.  I have read up some materials on the side effects of zoledronic acid and one of the them being osteonecrosis of the jaw.   I have grave concerns about the adverse side effects and I am debating whether to go on it.

I have been prescribed six monthly zoledronic acid for three years. It takes ten minutes to administer and I had twinges in my teeth, flu like tiredness and my carpal tunnel syndrome felt worse. But only for a few days during which I went out and did the shopping so I can’t have been that bad. The idea of having something that can rot your teeth and inner eardrum was the worst thing as I am a pessimist and I am 67 and pre-date fluoride being added to water so my teeth aren’t that great now

I have just been prescribed this too . It apparently reduces to chance of reoccurrence! . My sister had it years ago . It made her bones ache the next day and feel a bit fluey. But was fine the day after . You have to have you teeth checked xxx

Hello, I haven't been on the Forum for some months, so I feel once again like a 'newbie'. I'm hoping I can get some info from others on the Forum.

I have Osteopenia, initially does prescribed oral Risedronate but it caused problems and now I have been offered Intravenous Zoledronic Acid. Has anyone experienced having a Zoledronic by IV and did you experience any side effect?
