In that case I can reassure you that it’s doable! I am a wimp for pain but even I managed it ok. The first one was done without anaesthetic but I discovered before the second that you can ask for a local anaesthetic - so I had one for the second one. It’s of course not pleasant - but I think the worst I felt was like period pains, some cramping while they were doing it, but afterwards I was fine. For the first one I was advised to take paracetamol an hour before, but I wasn’t told that for the second and I forgot about doing that.
I really hope that puts your mind at rest - but again, please do ask anything if you think I can help.
Ty evie for your reply, if im honest im more worried about the procedure and biobsey lol, im told to continue with tamoxofin for the time being xx
I too am on Tamoxifen and have had 2 hysteroscopies in the 2 years I’ve been taking it to check abnormal bleeding - mine was more “spotting” but the consultant said that they have a very low threshold for checking ladies taking Tamoxifen. When I have been for the tests they have done a scan and internal first and then the hysteroscopy. One thing My consultant told me before the scan - the scan can sometimes show the lining as being thickened when in reality it isn’t - Tamoxifen can cause fluid build up behind the womb lining and the scan can’t tell the difference between genuine thickening and fluid build up, that’s why they do the hysteroscopy (I hope I got that right and that it makes sense). I say that in the hope that it may reassure you a little.
If I can help with any questions on the actual procedure, please do ask. I wish you all the very best and hope they find a non sinister reason for the bleeding - after my first one I was told that often they never find the actual cause, but so long as there was nothing sinister I didn’t mind!
Hugs, Evie xx
