Re: Fatty Liver

I’m also on anastrazole & Levothyroxine and have had liver & kidney function issues. Unfortunately anastrazole does carry some liver toxicity and raises cholesterol levels and if you have an under active thyroid this makes you vulnerable too these problems too. I lost about a stone & a half before diagnosis and am still probably about half a stone over where I should be. My issues have improved since eating quite a lot of raw vegetables which has brought my blood pressure right down. I take a box with veg sticks & raw cauliflower and shredded cabbage which I eat with some protein like eggs, cheese, ham smoked fish etc. I’ve really grown to love it but I’ve always loved veg. You can also make tasty mixed salads with plenty of raw veg but I’m not keen on dressings so don’t really bother. My husband is type 2 diabetic so we’ve learnt a lot about fatty liver. One of the most important things to avoid is sugar including fructose which is only metabolized in the liver. Therefore things like smoothies are actually bad because you’d never eat that much while fruit in one go and it overloads the liver with sugar. If you have a tendency to carrying your weight around your middle then cutting your sugar intake could help x

Re: Fatty Liver

Hi Bluemonday,

I have a fatty liver too, probably caused by the Tamoxifen. Six years on Tamoxifen,  I have recently been told to have 6 monthly blood tests to keep an eye on liver function.

I'm also trying to lose weight (6lb so far but struggling) and have looked at better food options to support liver. Liver function blood test improved after doing this.

Although not on same drug regime as you, I hope this helps. My Doctors haven't seemed overly concerned.

Best wishes J x
