Morning all
Its cold here today, just been out to collect my mug from the post office and am sitting having a cup of tea out of it at the moment.
Hope everyone is the best they can be today xxx
Clair
Good morning glad your voice is getting better, enjoy your day off xxx
Thanks Lorac and Lee. hope you get your shoulder sorted out soon Lee.
Lorac, I now remember you telling me Glasgow now, cos i mentioned having oenjoyed a lovely chocca block full cultural City break there a few years back now. That's a shame you don't think you'll make it. If that's because of the distance, so, d'ya not fancy making it a break and for a weekend? But maybe you too have commitments such as Helena. Anyway, I'll be going for a couple of nights so shall be around.
Same goes to/with anyone else.
I'm still trying to find and waiting to hear on and from various searches I have going, that same amazing Venice deal, the lady in Tescoes mentioned to me, for next week!!
I'm also looking into a New York break for early May. Not for the shopping - am not interested. Only want to go to N.Y. to see the Metropolitan Museum for the art and Louis Comfort Tiffany ceramics and stained glass windows. the Guggenheim Gallery, the Chrysler building, a few other galleries and buildings. But also, at that particular time, Babs Streisand is giving two concerts. She's one of the few artist I still want to see. Preferably before her voice is any more "past it", and before "I'm" past it Feel I have some lost time and some "Living" to catch up on girls !!
Barcelona's gotta happen this year too. Have been wanting to go for nye on 40 yrs, since studying Gaudi's architecture at school and reading about what else there is to see there. So I'll be spending some of the kids inheritance, i.e. the next cats !! Yey.
Probably pop in later. Hope those who haven't been so good are feeling better today.
Lotsa love to everyone

Six days back on Tamoxifen and so far so good.I am still getting bouts of internal heat but I had that during my break from Tamo anyway. I got the ultrasound and xray results back for my shoulder and its a mixed bag with a bit of osteo arthritis in the front and bursitis in the back. I will go and see a physio soon for some exercises. Lovely to read about you all. Life goes on with all its ups and downs eh? Lee xx
Oh Delly, it would be lovely to pop in for a group hug, thanks for thinking of me all the way down here 🙂
Delly,
Well hello there! I'm in Glasgow so , unfortunately, don't think I'll be able to join in the meet but wishing every one of you a great time. Will definitely look forward to hearing how it goes.
Re - La La Land .....I thought it was a load of c##p. Not my cup of tea at all! But then - each to their own eh?
So glad to hear that you're on the 'up' and u take care now xxxx,
All the very, very best, Carol xxxxxx,
Chopping-Charys - I've been constantly pestering everybody as to where you are, tho' I knew really from you're kind email response back. I just like pestering, persistent terrier that I am So, you, like Sue, are another that's just coming up to or has reached a milestone, following your diag. I'm beaming at the mo'. Why?? Because I'm soooo glad to have you all HERE, of course. I don't just "here" on this thread, I mean "here", on this planet - still alive and still kicking some ar*e !! Good to hear/see you chummy.
Bethy-Boo - How did things go with the "idiot" partner and the "visitor" t'other day?? Don't think you reported back.
Marydan - can you let us know where in the country you live?? Please.
Tis persisting here, and I've got all snugged in, so the Flicks can wait. Think it'll do me more good to do a bit more recharging, so maybe bath, cook a mushroom garlic and cream linguini (much nicer than and holds sauce better than spaghetti - trust me on that. Has a rougher surface for sauce clinging to, plus a much better flavour - Gino and Antonio told me), and if there's nothing on tv I wanna watch, I'll watch a nice, mushy romcom - "The Mirror has Two Faces" (Babs and, v. handsome in it, Jeff Bridges) - lovely film if you haven't ever seen, even if you're not a fan of Babs.
Byeee for now xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mary
You need to make any decisions with your MS team, please do not make your decision based on what I have said about Colin, I was just saying that he was concerned about the side effects of the particular drug being suggested and decided that he would not take it.
He is a very stubborn bugger, he will not even accept the help of and OT or physio, keeps saying he is ok as he is, The last time he saw the MS consultant who suggested this other drug to help with the numbness, Colin asked him about DMDs but he said that in his case they would be no good. Whilst he is slowly coming to terms with his conditions, he is a long way off being there.
Helena xx
Hello again friends. I feel a bit of a fraud as although I am back five days a week at work I do only do 22.5 hours so just wanted to let you all know incase you think I am superwoman ( something I ain't). Thanks for all the kind comments and telling me about your hubbie and his choice makes me feel a bit better about me dithering. Love to all. Mary xxx
Delly
Being out for the day will not be a problem for Colin, we can sort out him having something that he can microwave for lunch and I will aim to be home for dinner so all ok on that score.
I know here in Birmingham school holidays begin around 19 July and go through to first week in September. Please though ladies sort out the best location for all of you and if I can do it I will join you but I do not want it to be dependent on me being there please. One day to watch for people travelling by train is a Sunday as that is when they do a lot of the engineering works on the rails which can add an hour or so on to the journey or even mean that there is a rail replacement service.
Hellloooooooooooooooo
Just popping in to say Hiiiiii. I've been burning stuff in the garden for two days and finally caught up with everything chopped down last summer, in that period after surgery and before rads where I went a bit loopy and kept cutting stuff down lol (I think a few others did the same, as I recall a few people saying they had gone a bit mad in the garden as a way to use up emotional energy). It is SOOOooo windy here! Well, ladies, hows all yer hormones and bits and bobs..hm? I see you asked after me Dellypoos, well, here I am freshly smoked and windswept. I can't believe it's nearly March, as it was March I diagnosed last year. You know when you first hear the words 'bc' and you think it's the end and you won't make another spring lol wellllllll.....Spring is just around the corner and I'm still chopping and burning lol I so hope you are all well. I have more time this coming week, so will try and pop on and do some proper reading. Love to all x
Good Afternoon Sweetpeas,
Just a quick bob in to check how you are and what trouble you may be causing. Think most of that's usually down to me though, isn't it.
Ann-m - What awful photo's!! It's looks decidedly yuck. What are those flag or bunting like things on the sunset foreground Ann ?? Looks stunning. Oooooo - can't I come out and visit, whilst you're there.
Charys - Am still missin you. When yer coming out ta play?? Hope you're all right lovey and speak with us soon - pretty pleeeease??
Lady H - Thanks for the up on train tickets. Easier for you to get to Bristol, but not for Lesley in Bucks, Sue in E. Sussex, Anns in Canterbury - so all in the far East of t'country. Then Lilly's all the way down in Cornwall somewhere. Bit of a dilemma, really.
** I don't know where Moijan, Marydan, Lorac (Carol), Pollyp - who else? Can you let us know when you've a min gals. Lee's all the way in Aussieland, so reI'm presuming it'll be a no-no for her?? **
Shall I get my helicopter out, come pick everybody up? Sooo, it seems you're all in agreement for just a days meet. But of course there's the option for anyone to make it a couple of days should they wish. I shall probably make it a couple of nights and be driving, otherwise Helena, I could have picked you up and taken you back. How will your hubby cope on his ownio for a day??
Would I be right then, in presuming a weekend would be better than weekday? Though the train fayres would probably be cheaper, being off-peak.
We still have to come to another agreement, as to when? Janey's suggesting Summer, but again, the train fayres will probably hike up in the school hols, for those of you using trains. So can you all please have a think on these questions, as times rushing on. We're at the end of Febuary now (!!) can't believe it. When do schools break up for hols - is end of June beginning of July, through to end of August/early September
How are Snotty Lilly and Beth-the-Festerer today? I am awful.
Corr-Clair - At least that's a good reason for hangover and losing your voice (like me and enjoying practicing my X factor singing!!). Think everybody's waiting on tenter hooks for baby to pop out any minute.
Had a brill sleep last night, full 8 hrs, bit groggy today, but I think a shower in a bit wil wake me up. Started a low dose 50mg of Quetiapine last night, to help me sleep and calm me down a bit?? I fancy catching a film tonight, as I feel like taking myself out and I'm way behing on the current releases. Anyone seen LaLa Land?? If so, any good? Might go see and make up my own mind anyway, as it seems to be getting plenty of awards. Haven't been to the Flicks for ages and it's still something I still really enjoy to do. Can't beat seeing something on a huge screen and so being completely immersed in it all.
Am going now Lovelies, as am hot on a car search today on Autotrader - cheaper than buying from a dealer, tho you don't get the same guarentees of course. see what I can find within my budget.
Enjoy your Sunday
Dellywelly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Clair
Oh dear, but at least you can say that it was fun getting it 🙂
Day has completely changed here now, very windy, drizzly and overcast, so no gardening for me today.
Hopefully after a rest you will feel much better.
Cant wait to call you Nanna Lesley 🙂 🙂 xxx
Ann
Oh they are beautiful, well from reporting earlier the lovely sunny warmish morning, we now have overcast, drizzly and very windy afternoon, yuk, I wish I was with you 🙂 xx
GoodSunday morning all
Well what a difference a day makes, it is sunny not cold but not warm either. I have just walked up to the shops for the newspaper (first time in ages I have bought one) and posted a letter.
Delly - you can get cheap tickets but you need to book them quite a bit in advanceand there are only a few on each train, quite often there are set journey outward and return times for the ticket. I think they become available about 30 days before the date but it has been a long time since I did one so this might have changed.
Hope everyone is better at least a bit better today and sending you all a hug
Helena xxx
Hiya everyone,
Beth, so sorry to hear about the infection, something else you don't need at the mo.
Clair, very best wishes for the new arrival. I'm certainly with you on life is for living, it's one of the reasons we've done this trip this year.
Carolyn, so good to see you on here as well.
I'm also up for a meet-up, depending on when it is.
Helena, Mary, Lesley, Moijan, Dizzy, Charys, Sue, Lily, Delly - sending love & hugs to all...
& just to annoy Delly 😉 😎...sunset over the Pacific & wine tasting country...
night, night all, ann xxx
marydan
Oh it is so lovely to hear from you xx
I am full of admiration for you that you have gone back to work full time. I have been back at work doing my normal hours but that is only 25 hours a week. It really does take some getting used to again both from the stamina angle but also as you say the confidence angle, you are and will continue to get there mate
As you know my partner has MS and his MS consultant suggested a drug for the numbness he was experiencing at teh top of his leg and side, when he read up about the side effects he decided not to have it and in fact the numbness has gone now. He is very concerned about the side effects of what they recommend.
Hope you are having a relaxing weekend now though and again it is so lovely to hear from you. I know I find it frustrating not to be able to be on here as much as I used to
Helena xxx
Hello to all my lovely friends and a very warm welcome to all who have recently joined.
I know it is a scary dark place when first told about bc but with the help of all these wonderful ladies supporting you things do get easier.
Sorry I have not been on for a whilke but back at work now five days a week so kinda knacked but getting stronger everyday I hope.
I cannot believe how much my confidence has been rocked, I love my work and all my workmates(friends) however when I started back and even now I am as nervous as a kitten.
I had to have a colonoscopy last week and am awaiting results of 2 biopsies taken. They said all looked well and it was usual for them to biopsy but I am still nervous.
I have spoken with my m.s nurse and we think starting copaxone may be the way to go but to be honest I am really scared about more meds. (injection daily).
I am not scared of needles but the side effects of these drugs are the worry.Ah well I will take all advice on board and keep thinking as positive as I can.
I truly hope you are all doing well and I keep you all in my thoughts/prayers.
I will not leave it as long and will pop in often. xxxxxx Mary
Clair

I think we need to wrap you in cotton wool mrs. How is the ankle now xxx
Well your dinner sounds well yummy, beats ours we are having salmon fillets with sag aloo and rice xxx
Delly
no I wasn't joking. I had two tiny pimples, one of which errupted and then they both disappeared. A few days later, this thing I have now appeared and is now the size of a large grape. I guess it must be related to the one I dealt with before. I didn't squeeze it as you would a spot somewhere else, I put a little bit of pressure on it and that's all it took. Yuk. I was very careful, kept the original ones clean, used antiseptic cream etc etc and they did go away. My whole armpit area is red and swollen now, down to my node scar which has gone a funny shape, the top of it kind of overhangs the bottom of it but I think that's the swelling. It's bloody painful, I know that much. 😢😢 xxx
Bethy - were you joking in an earlier post when you said you squoze the initial "pimple" under your arm??
Helena - have I already asked you how you are today? If not, it's got lost. So my darlin, how are you today? You okay??
Corr-Clair - Good to hear you bouncing today, despite. We're here for you if it faulters.
I'm not going to name other names, but you know who you are. Yeh, I'm watching you, more to take care of than keep you in place.
Hope Lillium's snotty snoz (yuck Delly) and flu is coming to an end.
Bethy, I used to have to deal with all sorts of grotty stuff, infections, veronica verrucas, athletes foot fungal infections, infected ingrown toenails, so really, I have no excuse or reason to stay away from an infected armpit. It's just a different area of a body. There IS a certain part of the body, often associated with toilets (sorry, but how else do you want me to describe - ok BUMS then!!), I would deffo steer clear of. But I'm giving you a great big, abscess squeezing hug anyway. Rest of you will have to wait a bit.
I'm missing that 'C' woman. You all right Charys. Will you please come and make me a decent bacon butty otherwise I'll Waaaaaaa. Come back and play with us - pleeeease. Awww go on, can we, yeh lets, I'll give you a sweetie if you do. I'll let you read my Jackie mag. Bet you're too young to remember that C?
NOW, I'm gonna give you all a big hug, 'cos my arms have been getting itchy again. Corr flip, either I've lost weight or you've all put some on. Think it's me. Must be shrinking from no sleep.
Doollallier-by-the-day-Delly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ouch, ouch and OUCH, set off for my walk this morning with my friend and her eldest grand daughter and was chattering away not looking where I was going and managed to put my foot down a hole, did a comic windmilling action with my arms to stop me falling, wrenched my shoulder, the pain was so awful I didn't notice until it wore off until 10 minutes that I'd strained my ankle. Shoulder now ok but ankle throbbing like a Harley Davidson. Friends grand daughter wants to be a gymnast, some hopes! She was whinging and complaining after walking for 10 minutes that we were walking too fast, she was tired, could nanny go and get the car? She couldn't possibly walk back as well as her legs were aching, she's 10 next month, flipping heck, when I was that age I could have hopped on one leg all the way there and back. Still, she enjoyed her breakfast and nanny treated her in the shops, though she wouldn't carry the bags on the way home.
Going to read back on all your posts now and catch up before putting dinner on (seafood spaghetti, yum) and pouring a vino. Looked at getting to Bristol, it involves getting a bus to town, then to Reading then a train, whole journey would take approx four and half hour each way and cost over £150, I could go and see my friend in Spain for that so it's looking doubtful that I'll be able to make it 😰Xx
Beth
I used to regularly get an infection in one of my toes, no broken skin but it would get infected all the same. The human body is certainly a strange thing!
Lucky Mac and poor hubby. It has been very windy here today and is raining now. I dont think I am going to get out in the garden somehow during my week off 😞
I've taken four of these giant antibiotics so far, and they're beginning to make me feel a bit nauseous. Leaflet says it should pass in a few days but hopefully it'll come to nothing. Well worth it though if they sort out this damn infection. How do you get an infection if there's no broken skin? Weird.
Clair, good for you for getting out and about today. Weather is horrendous here today. It's been hammering down since I got up. Hubby just taken Mac out for a brief walk and they've both come in like drowned rats and it was funny when I was standing there in the kitchen waiting for them to come in, with a lovely warm towel - for Mac! Poor hubby lol
have a a good afternoon all & catch up later
xxx
Beth
Absolutely do not think you are being a killjoy, if anything you are being extremely sensible my dear and we always say be kind to yourself, you are doing just that. I was looking and even Birmingham is nearly 5 hours by train, thats a journey and half in anyones book
xxx
I think I'm going to count myself out of a meet up for now. Wth everything thats going on down here, I don't think I'm strong enough for a long journey just yet, either by train or car. Apologies if that sounds like I'm being a killjoy, but I need all the rest I can get, when I can get it!!
i will certainly enjoy hearing all about it from you all though, if you get it sorted xxx
Clair
Whilst waiting for ann's pic heres something nice, bright and sunny 🙂
Beth
i have just looked at Camrmarthen train services, you really do not have a good service in that area, flip me xx
Guys
I honestly mean this, you organise something that suits you all, if I am able to get there even for a couple of hours I will do I promise, it is more important that the meet up for as many as people who can get there is arranged as it is something that has been talked about for a long time
Helena xxx
Carolyn
We certainly are, it gets very silly at times, I have spent many an evening trying to explain to Colin why I am laughing hysterically, cant blame it on the tablets 🙂
Beth
Blimey you could probably get to Birmingham quicker than Cardiff!! Remind me whereabouts you live in Wales again?
I am extremely lucky as I travel free by rail, NO not because of my age :). I worked for the railway for 15 years and when I took voluntary redundancy, because I did not resign, I was able to keep all my perks as I was then classed as "Retired", enough now everyone with the comments, I am a young retiree 🙂 🙂
How are you feeling today xx
Delly
By train to Bristol Temple Meads is around 1.5 hours
x
Carolyn
Hi there! Now you have me wondering if there's something in the water in the Exeter area...Though in fairness only Janey really counts as living near Exeter, but we do have a West country contingent.
Helena
ive had a look at the trains too. Exeter from here is 4.5 hours by train. Bristol is 3 hrs 15. It's a looooong way either way!! I'm closer to Ireland than I am to you lot!!
I may be south, but I'm much further West. Christ even Cardiff is 2 hours by train for me lol
xxx
Hello all! Just got back from a very blowy walk, and also did half an hour in the garden. So that's me done for the day, my conscience is clear(ish).
Helena, I suspect my hair would be completely white. I can't quite get my head round that yet. Cutting it short was something I did in easy stages, but I don't think you can do that with coloured hair, unless I went blonde first, and that would look strange on me. But I do envy people who look great with grey hair, I'm fed up with dyeing mine, it takes forever and costs a fortune. My friends have someone who comes to the house and does a wet cut and charges less than a tenner. Cheap and easy and so quick.
Clair, I hope you're feeling okay, sending you love and hugs. And I hope the new baby arrives safe and well this weekend, you have so much to think about at the moment.
Beth, I hope you have your feet up as ordered, and have a lovely weekend tucked up with Mac on the settee.
Lesley, great that the shoulder is starting to improve, hope it gets better yet.
Catch up later, have a good day everyone.
Carolyn
As if we or anyone would tell you to p o xxx Sounds a lovely idea xx
Delly
I would not drive that far to be honest. I have looked at the trains and it would take me about 2.5 hours. there is roughly a train about 9am which would get me in for 11.45, so I could spend a couple of hours with you all and then get a late afternoon train back home.xx
