Morning all
Well we're back from a week in Devon, we came back last night to avoid the Devon Show. Part of the trip was for my husband to visit the graves of his mum, dad and brother now we've had the headstone engraved. But it wasn't a sad day, and it was lovely to come back over Dartmoor. And we've been so lucky with the weather for once.
I came back to the letter with my mammogram appointment, it's funny how my heart sinks at the sight of the hospital logo. I'll be glad to get it done because I've had quite a few aches and pains recently in both sides. I know that pain isn't usually a sign of anything sinister but itll be good to get it checked out, just for my peace of mind.
Lots to do now to get sorted, catch you all later. Clair, I bet you're still singing, I'm so glad you got good news. And Helena, I hope you get your appointment through quickly so you can plan birthdays and bowling...
Xxx
Thank you all so much. Appointment not until 2.50pm, hate late appointments, much rather morning ones. Still for once it suited me. Himself worried me this morning, pain was much worse and he was a horrible colour, couldn’t even sit up to drink a cuppa. Phoned gp surgery, duty doctor called back. He reckons its a broken rather than cracked rib and is sending a prescription for strong painkillers to the pharmacy for me to collect. Will see how he goes after taking them, not really happy but guess got to give it a while before I call back. Might take a couple myself before boobies get clamped.
Whst gorgeous weather, looking good for the wedding tomorrow. Such a shame I’ve had to tell Harry and Megan himself and I won’t be able to make it after all due to busted rib. Just hope they forgive us, know they had seats right at the front with our names on x
Lesley
My dear we are all there with you in the huge big pants that ruby has sent you.
Sending you much love
Helena xxxx
Lesley, in your pocket singing loudly and squeezing gently for your mammo. Himself says the sun goes in when I put mine out to dry. How rude. xxx
Jo
We will all be willing the postman to deliver you the best news tomorrow xxx
Saving some hay for you gals.xxx
Fingers crossed hunky postman/woman/person will turn up with your pass to the Neddie paddock tomorrow Jobey xx
Brilliant news Clair! Hopefully mine will turn up tomorrow, I had my mammogram the other end of the bank holiday so a bit behind you in the results stakes! Xx Jo
Oh Lesley, poor Himself, but you just made me laugh - mind you I do believe an all female jury would find there were mitigating circumstances and let you off.xxx
Yay!!! That’s wonderful, Clair 🎉🍾x
Ha, just got sidetracked looking at lots of donkey pics, I just love them and now you've joined us Clair, yippettee do dah, I am almost the happiest person I know, cos the most happiest is you Clair. A new member of the Neddie club.xxx
So happy and relieved for our lovely Clair.
Himself is no better, moaning and groaning every time him moves. He’s most comfortable laying completely flat on his back. Gardener came today for the fortnightly grass cut, heard the sinister moans coming from he open window, I explained and said, it’s ok, Im going to put a pillow over his face soon. He then told me the story (very Midsomer murderish) of how his father was found dead sitting in his chair clutching the remote control and for a while his mother was under suspicion of doing him in. Thankfully after post mortem natural causes were found. Must be careful what I say in jest in future xx
Yay Clair, now, dont be greedy, save some hay for me or even better, you lot eat all the hay just save me the vino when I join you hopefully in a couple of weeks. Seriously lovely lady so so happy and relieved for you xx
Clair
Yay NEDDY xxxxx

I have spoken with my line manager this morning and I will be having the two days after the procedure off as well, as it is a planned procedure, he has told me not to worry and just concentrate on me

I must admit when I was diagnosed in 2016 I was scared that I might not see my 60th and I am so nearly there now 🙂
Yep Gemini's together. My best friend is 3 weeks older than me and her birthday is on Tuesday, we are each others opposites, almost like twins!!

Finally got to the keyboard and can post. I've been keeping up with the thread from afar and taking comfort from your doc's response Helena, but how frustrating you have to wait again and more tests. Thoroughly fed up making. Ready and waiting for next pocket duty but definitely definitely recommend general anaesthetic for the procedure. It is very quick as Jill says, but do give yourself some time off afterwards.
Oh Lesley what is your man like ...? Talk about highs and lows; good news one day then an injury. An exciting time of birthdays for you gemini girls. Lots of cause of celebration soon I hope --- once all the silly waiting is over!
Lots of love to all of you xxx

Thank you so much.
No I am a June baby, 12 June, its a big one for me I will be 60 xxx
Ruby
Oh you blow me away and I love your pics that just make you want to smile xxx
Had my legs crossed all afternoon Helena, sounds as though doc is not concerned, which is such a relief, but I'd much rather have the GA even though it does cause you more problems - a local seems far too ineffective!!
Perhaps Meryl Streep has the right ideaxxx
Lesley, glad there was some good news with the cyst & hope mammo doesn't squeeze too much. Had my 3 year Neddie letter exactly 2 weeks after the mammo, so very tentative opening envelope, but decided as it was thin it would be ok. Hooray. But Himself needs to be taken in hand - any chance of getting the doc to do a home visit? You don't need any stressing out - I'd rather have him fed up with 'too much fuss' than worry that he needs more treatment. Tell him his options are: doc home visit or you throttling him!xxx
Clair
Oh for goodness sake, i really hope she gets back to you tomorrow xxxx
Lesley
Oh tell me about it, I actually said the same to Colin a few weeks ago, they really do not realise how much they affect us when they have something happen.
xx
What a b*gger Lady H, hopefully you won’t have to wait longand also it won’t clash with lobbing balls dates. Good that they’re pretty confident it’s thickening due to tami but best to be reassured.
Yes, of course Himself needs checking, and of course you’re right about men being so flipping stubborn. I’m sure if they realised how much extra stress they were causing us they'd give in before things got really bad. Hey ho, it is what it is, that’s his favourite saying at the moment. Think I might throttle him soon, his groaning is driving me demented xx
Jill
Oh right that is good. The problem with me is my bp drops after a GA so they will have to monitor me for a while, which is what they had to do with my bc op. It was compounded by my also being on bp tablets. Hopefully I will be down early in the morning as I have to be there for 7.30am and be on the way home by lunchtime xxx
Jill
He said my cervix looked fine, but as he was not able to get into my womb he could not tell.xxx
Jill
The sister said I will be called in for 7.30am as a day patient, she did say to bring an overnight bag in case I had to stay in for any reason, but they say that to be on the safe side.
They just said I will need to take a day or two off afterwards to recover from the GA but should be ok after that.

Apparently it is a very short procedure. He checked my notes again and he wants to make sure because it does not just say a thickening but that the lining is very thickened otherwise he would say leave it for 3/4 months and then have the scan done again. He was very sure that it was tamo and that I didnt need to worry but that I would probably have to come off tamo, which my onc would discuss with me.
The nurse on the way out said reassured me that he was very relaxed about it and her words "we know when he is concerned about something and he definitely was not".
xxx
Oh flippin 'eck Helena your saga continues! ....but they still want to go ahead even though he does think its the tamoxifen?
Itll be really really short and quick I'm sure, just enough time to ferret around and grab the little piece.
When will that be ?
Lesley
OMG I think you need to ban him from the garden. He really should get it checked out, I know there is nothing that they can really do if it is a broken rib, but it is best to get it checked, but know what you mean about men and calling the GP!!
xxx
Sorry with late good luck wishes Helena but it’s been a traumatic morning. Not sure what time your appointment is, but hope it goes/gone well xx
Himself décided to get the hedge trimmer out first thing, next thing I know he was lying on the drive groaning clutching his chest. Rushed out in dressing gown thinking the worst. Thankfully not his heart this time but (we think) broken rib. He just heard a loud crack and was in agony. Managed to help him inside. He’s in a lot of pain, no way can I get him to hospital and of course he won’t let me call doctor. Assuming it is broken rib I’m following advice on nhs website using my chillows. He’s ok if he doesent move an inch or breathe, cough or heaven forbid as he found out sneeze! Xx
Aww gee thanks Guys. Popped on to see if any more news on those waiting....as if you've not got enough about worrying about the postPERSON coming (you know pc and all that) then you have me reminding you of everything. Soz about that.
VERY pleased to see that the lovely Lee has been given a clear outcome on those body scans. Great news...and roll on getting this sorted on 24th. x
My wonderful fluffy friends I love you all so much and thank you for all your thoughts, Ruby they certainly are the biggest pair of big pants, there is absolutely no problem with you all being able to get in there tomorrow.
Lee I will pass them on to you after tomorrow. You will be in my thoughts on the 24th, so far as good with the results xx
Lesley that is great news from you my dear
Been bowling again tonight, not a good result but last night my bowl partner and I won our 1st round county pairs competition, so we are off to Leamington Spa on Monday to play in the next round.
Will let you all know tomorrow when I am back xxxx
