Re: Free Pink Ribbon Pilates Ashford Kent

Hi hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread. I have just finished chemo and due to start radiotherapy at the end of the month.  I am sorry I have missed the 5th sept event. I am wondering if Pilates at Kennington happens during the day or in the evening. I could do daytime for a while but then hope to get back to work! I would like to start some gentle exercise and so I am on the look out for something near romney marsh. thanks Cal B

Re: Free Pink Ribbon Pilates Ashford Kent

Sometimes, when perhaps the indoor venue is busy, we offer a Walking Group for any ladies who have had, or do have, breast cancer. This is a great way of keeping the Pilates exercise group going strong and allows all the ladies to get some fresh air and try something different. We now take a walk each Monday (up tp Sepetember 5th) starting at 11am ending at noon, at  Conningbrook Lakes Country Park, Ashford,  there is plenty of free parking at Julie Rose Stadium (TN24 9QX, we meet just before 11am in car park), with paths wide enough to fit three abreast. Plenty of opportunity to chat on our way round.

Even if you’ve not been to the studio class before, it would still be wonderful to meet you at Conningbrook Lakes Country Park. The route is suitable for everyone – fast or slow – and all abilities and levels are catered for. Do remember this isn’t bootcamp! There is no set pattern and it’s up to everyone to set the pace to suit who’s there that day and just generally have a social occasion whilst also getting some gentle exercise. Keep those muscles moving and get some fresh air. Please note, no walking on Bank Holiday Monday – August 29th and last walk, Monday September 5th. Back to Kennington Scout Hut, September 12th at 11am to resume mat exercise.

Dear Lilac-Blue

I love the sound of the Pink Ribbon Pilates as I need to start exercising again in a gentle way, post mastectomy, and this sounds great. Can I just turn up next Monday please? Or do I need to register?

Thanks, RosieH

Each night this week, BBC has a 8pm hour long programme that highlights Chelsea Flower Show. Last night they talked about Breakthrough Breast Cancer garden: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3085280/Designer-reveals-losing-sister-law-breast-cancer-i.... The Silver Gilt Medal was won because it was so beautiful, amazing and clever. The garden is based around a DNA double helix shape represented by a beautiful stone pathway, crossed by a ribbon of soft pink planting. There are water pools that ripple up and down every 10 minutes to represent the shocking statistics of women diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. A sculpture by Rick Kirby, is designed to symbolize the courage and dignity of all those fighting the disease and representing women who will be helped by the charity. Designer Ruth Willmott claims this garden has particular meaning to her. She lost her late sister-in-law Angela to breast cancer (triple negative) in 2014 aged 49 years. Angela was an incredibly positive person throughout her life and Ruth wanted something positive to come from her death, so that others may benefit in the future.

Re: Free Pink Ribbon Pilates Ashford Kent

Well I had my mastectomy and lymph node clearance last Friday (9th) at the William Harvey. Obviously I can't drive for a while, and I'll be having 3 weeks of radiotherapy in June, but I reckon as soon as I have the energy after that, I'll be over to join you. Haven't forgotten, just still undergoing treatment.

Re: Free Pink Ribbon Pilates Ashford Kent

marvellous, I live between two places at the moment.

I have just delayed my breast mastecomy and reconstruction for a few months because I need to get fitter for the operation.

I have a wound on my leg and cant kneel on the other one either, I have done yoga in the past, and tried pilates, but that was a few years ago.

when I know that I am coming back to the area I will contact you.

But thankyou so much for offering such a service.

Re: Free Pink Ribbon Pilates Ashford Kent

So pleased to have spotted this! I live in Biddenden and am nearing the end of pre-adjuvant chemo. My mastecomy and lymph ode clearance op is pencilled in for early May.

I think this could be just what I need to go along to as I recover from that, so I will remember you and see how quickly I recover as I will need to be well enough to drive to Kennington, which I'm vurrently not able to do.

Have liked your Facebook page and bookmarked your website, so i won't forget. Thank you for being there.

Pilates helps core strength, bringing about changes to posture whilst standing, walking, sitting and moving around your daily activities.

This is a FREE pilates class especially for women at any stage of their breast cancer survivorship.

Whether you’ve had your all clear, are still in treatment or had your breast cancer ten years ago and would still like some support and assistance, then we’d love to see you.

This is a gentle, simple class specifically designed for women with breast cancer.

The Wellbeing Day has boosted our funds considerably and will allow us not only to continue on for another year, but also give us some much needed advertising money. We hope to get more ladies coming to class as our numbers continue to grow.

Class begins again:

Monday 4th January 2016 • 11am • Kennington Scout Hut,
Lower Vicarage Road TN24 9HZ

Ashford, Kent

Hope to see you there!
