Scarletbea, its funny how the thought of regular check ups, causes me anxiety.
I’m all finished, back to work part time, and enjoying my new normal.
I'm also surprised at the 3-monthly check ups!
In the first 2 years I had a check-up every 6 months, and then it changed to yearly - I admit to having felt a bit scared, but they told me that nothing changes that quickly, and I could always get an appointment if I felt anything abnormal.
I'm having my 3 years check up in 2 weeks...
Thanks for the reply, I haven’t had 3 monthly check ups, I completed all the treatments last week, I was chatting to my BCN re follow ups, when she gave me the news re no 3 monthly check ups.
She told me they are implementing this nationwide, personally I prefer this way, instead of the anxiety of the follow up.
Wow - you had 3 month check ups? I will be lucky to get one every 12 months. Practices do vary across the nation. Some people just get a nurses number to ring if they are concerned about things and no set appointments. Do you think we are all part of a current experiment looking at the best use of resources post treatment ?
Regards to all,
Hope you are all recovering well, just met with my BCN, post completion of treatments, and she’ told me the hospital will no longer be doing 3 monthly check ups.
Apparently there have been studies to suggest there is no benefit to having 3 monthly check ups.
Hospitals in Manchester have just implemented this, Marsden are following and it’s going to be rolled out nationwide very soon.
Has anyone heard of this in their trust?
Personally I feel happy about it.
Any thoughts ladies?
