Oh dreary me JCJ, how awful. Sooooooooo glad campsite man was able to help you, such kindness. Fingers crossed you are warm and happy somewhere else now..........
FF, great you managed to "get everything" this time, I have to use post its all the time, haha!!
Also fab that you have a bra that fits, woo hoo!
We still have galeforce winds but it's sunny, we are not basking in sunshine like some????
Quick nip to supermarket for heavy things, tomorrow into town to hopefully have hair trimmed and tidied up, also have GS for a short while.
ED has booked a short break for OH's birthday, she finally found a hotel that she loves after weeks of searching woo hoo.
YD fell asleep at her friends house in another city, she had to catch the 6 am train to start work at 8.30 am, what a nut heehee.
14 days to go (cause I'm there on Mon). Are your phone numbers still the same, text me when arriving so I can meet you, will carry your bags on my chariot xx
I hesitate to mention this (no I don't, I revel in it, hehehe,) the weather is absolutely lovely down here. Blue skies , a small breeze which just stops it from being too hot. Perfect.
In reality, I'm horrified to hear your tale of woe JCJ, Hope things calm down and tomorrow you can make plan B and salvage your holiday. Staying in is a good idea Katy, I've seen on tv what it's like in Scotland. Any suggestions regarding GS will be gratefully received but the biggest stumbling blocks we have are his parents, who just aren't pushy enough and the school which refuses to recognise a problem.
Went back to the big City today found a parking space and got the items that I couldn't get/forgot yesterday, It was bra shopping, as you know it's not easy. As I was moaning to daughter on our way home yesterday, she said why didn't I go to the specialist shop instead of the usual shops? So today I did and got measured and discovered that why nothing seemed to fit was because I was trying all the wrong sizes. For some reason (I'm an idiot!) it didn't occur to me that my weight loss would affect my bra size. Once trying on the right size it was easy to get one to fit! I'm a happy bunny now.
16 days to Norecambe, I can't wait.
Aaaaah JCJ, how awful, one thing you can never rely on is the weather................at least you know where you are??? hahaha!
Fingers crossed things calm down and you can enjoy your hol, wind, rain free, how disappointing.
FF, glad GD's assessment went well, I find it absolutely disgusting that children have to wait and wait and wait for assessments etc, too many years pass then it's too late to do anything, am sure it's planned that way, budgets, cost cutting etc.
Will speak to you in Norcambe about a way that your GS can/may receive the help he needs asap. Honestly, makes my blood boil....................
We too have galeforce winds, am staying in today so it doesn't matter, can hardly believe Norcambe is getting so near................will be sooooooooo lovely to see you xx
I am on the FF with myself bench tonight. I hitched a lift into city with daughter as I hate the drive in, trying to find somewhere to park etc.. Got home and realised that I have totally forgotten to get something vital. Went for four things, got two, couldn't find the third to fit and totally forgot about the fourth. AAARGH!! I know I need to write lists, why didn't I write a list? I'm an idiot and now I have to drive in myself, find a parking space etc.. I'll probably go tomorrow, might be quieter on a Sunday? I hope.
On the bright side I bought two new books to read, some "silly" presents for the females in my family at a bargain/discounted price, so that is something off the list for that time of year in December we're not allowed to mention yet.
Assessment was much as we expected, she's behind her peers but she is progressing. We've been given advice to follow , mostly to make our language more simple. She's eligible for a group that hopes to help with communication/language so she will be attending that in September. She's also being referred to speech therapy. She'll get there, it will just a bit longer.
But........and this is a big but.......daughter was given a form to fill in about her behaviour and if this form had been available 9 years ago, my 11 year old GD would have been diagnosed and helped a long time ago. And my 10 year old GS. We're still fighting for them.
Hope assessment went well FF.
Was also babysitting!
On the "housework" bench today, am doing the things that I say "oh will do that later" well, later is today.
Only another muggatea then off I go..................xx
PS Scoffed the birthday cake, yum yum x
Noooo, don't think I've read that one Katy. Glad you are enjoying the other one more. Keep reading if you can, it puts you into another place away from any worries you might have.
I've eaten too much birthday cake, it was really good but not as good as the bored, rainy Monday, best I've ever had cake. Birthday girl thoroughly enjoyed it and we have the photos of her chocolate covered face to prove it.
I am 11 year old GD sitting tomorrow (she won't allow me to call it babysitting, don't blame her!) because 2 year old GD has a communication and language assessment. She's behind her peers, we know this but she is progressing so she will get there with time and she's got sign language skills that her peers don't have. So exactly who is behind who? She's got a killer look when she is told no, she certainly knows what that means!
Ejoy your holiday JCJ.
Have a fabulous hol, JCJ, see you when you get back hahaha!!!
The book is "Fool me Once" FF, put it down and picked up The Missing Husband am enjoying that more.
People are dropping like flies here, terrible bug thing going around, sore ears, throats, headaches, fever, honestly stay away from me......................
Quiet day, busier tomorrow, was going to have my hair chopped but decided can't face it, next week will be soon here xx
Mountains of camping crap sorted and either put away or repacked into OH's car (bigger than mine so we take more/slightly different stuff!)
Hoovering (or rather Henrying) done now that I can see the carpets again (aforementioned mountains moved). Washing basket emptied into quick wash and hanging up to dry so we've a) got something to wear when we get home and b) got that bit less to wash when we come home with tons of the stuff.
I'm turning a blind eye to the dust on the furniture, for the moment, but I suspect the fact that our wonderful neighbour will be having the key so she can bring the post in, will shame me into running around with the furniture polish in the morning!
Aqua globes deployed in the patio tubs, in the hope of keeping the flowers alive without too much work for neighbour. I've never used them before; bought them as a last minute idea, from that big online river. They come highly recommended, so we'll see.
Due to set off for Anglesey in the morning - (back up the A5, which I drove down on Sunday!!) - so watch out for typhoons, monsoons, hurricanes and blizzards on the West coast?! 🙂
I'll try to keep posting, but it depends on phone signal/WiFi availability. x
Katy - what is the title of the book? I'll remember if I've read it. Glad you're feeling better today.
Been to school, tidied up after the contractors and teachers who have been in. The teachers bring their young children who make a mess and cause me to do jobs twice/three/ four times! Mopped up a small flood from the water dispenser which I told them was leaking about four weeks ago! I found the stopcock for it so I've sorted that. Did the mandatory water checks that need to be done every week and then had 30 minutes left to do some cleaning. Eight chairs and three tables have been cleaned today. I just wish they'd all stay away and let me get on with my job!!!!
And breathe.........tomorrow is a birthday cake day, youngest GD is two (where's that gone?). Her 11 year old sister is making the cake. She made a cake on Monday because it was raining and she was bored and I had a slice today and I do really think it's the best sponge cake I've ever had. Totally delicious. A bit strange in the decoration but I do like Flying Saucers so that was ok.
I was at her house today as she was making it and she allowed me to lick a little of the mixture in the bowl. Brought back memories. l think we ought to give her a try at pastries and enter her for Junior Bakeoff.
Oh dreary me..................felt soooooooo bad on Mon, but Tues came and was so much better, woohoo, a little dodgy this morning but ok!!! Def not labyrithitis cause it takes a long time to feel normal am thinking ANOTHER bug???
Thank you for advice about monitors, had a good look around, Ls doesn't have the £10 one any longer, been discontinued so checked with Mr Futon and have purchased a "Shoes" one. have always had high blood pressure and have taken 2 tabs everyday to keep it under control for years. When I was speaking to a nurse at the "lido" clinic she said that if you are in pain your blood pressure rises, never ever thought that?
The only time I did have good readings was when I was being monitored re BC my blood pressure was perfect, ironic or what?? haha!
grumpy have no idea about the kindle but if it works you can have a virtual Afternoon Tea with us!!
JCJ, will Norcambe be the last of the summer hols or is there another planned?
Have a lovely, sunny time.
FF, started book last night and it's not enthralling me, will keep at it though, purchased another 2 (charity shop). That's what I began doing had 3 or 4 books all on the go and then just left them................xx
Sounds wonderful JCJ, relaxing and peaceful time out is what we all need in our in busy lives. Hope you catch the few days in Anglesey when it doesn't rain.
Haven't been to school today, they were laying the new lino in the corridor and the stuff that they use to stick it down gives off the most awful pungent fumes, so I stayed away. Will make up the time later. I have got the annex thoroughly cleaned so that is sorted, just the main building to do now. Three classrooms, two offices, no problem...Will go in tomorrow.
Hope your are ok Katy and feeling better today.
Speaking of good books, I am Rosamunde Pilchner fan. Guess what I've found - the home of Winter Solstice!!!! Trotting around Dornoch today, I couldn't quite weigh up why it felt 'familiar' cos I've never been here before, then the penny dropped. A bit of googling produced 'winter solstice tours from Inverness' so I've got it right. Sitting in the van next to the dunes and the golf course......
And it's just started to rain again, it's a good job I'm big and strong and tough.
Ever so sorry I won't be with you for MMU4, I wonder if I can Skype from a kindle??
We were in the Shropshire Hills, FF, on a wonderful campsite near Craven Arms. So peaceful and relaxing.
It has drizzled persistently here for 18 hours, since just before I got home from nipping into town yesterday: too late to rescue the washing off the line. I decided to leave it out, as "it will dry when the rain stops". I need most of what's out there, to pack, and it's STILL raining, so, when I get dressed, I'll have to fetch it in, re-spin it and tumble dry the 'urgent' stuff. 😞 Ah well, could be worse. Could be camping. Oh yes, we will be. In 2 days time! In Anglesey. Where it ALWAYS rains!!.
I hope it's sunny in Norecambe too. I'm dreading the day when you see it in its normal grey, damp gloom. 😛
Glad that you have been to Drs. Katy, I also have BP machine from same outlet as JCJ, not expensive and Dr. accepts the stored readings.
Harlen Corben writes really good books, I've read most of them but enjoyed the Myron Bolitar ones the most. Not packing yet.......it IS too soon but I'm looking forward to it and hoping for good weather I want to eat breakfast outside at Rita's..
Happy you're back with us JCJ and that you enjoyed your holiday with your daughter. Where were you?
Talking of blood pressure, I have white coat syndrome, the nurse who did my pre-op in 2012 thought I was going to collapse any second, had her arm round me to catch me as I fell, I didn't. They wouldn't let me out of the day care unit after my 2 ops as it was so high until they wanted to close the unit and go home. I was worried what my BP would be when I had to have the sigmoidoscopy and was surprised to find it was ok. After it I counted out my BP tablets and found that sometime in the three days before it was due I'd taken an extra dose Completely by accident..............but now I know what to do if there's a next time............
KTC (NOT KFC as accidentally put in last post - that'd be the reason for high BP? Lol), OH got our BP monitor machine from a local chemist (Llo*** ) - Their own brand. It was only about a tenner. Our GP surgery accept readings from it. They agreed I didn't have high BP just from my recorded readings (I wrote them down, but I could have just taken the machine in, because it stores them!) It has full instructions and is easy to use.
As long as you make sure it's got The British Hypertension Society approval (BHS) you will be fine. Here's their website:
Low blood pressure would be more likely to make you fall down, rather than high, so perhaps Labyrinthitis is the cause. Not pleasant. I hope you feel better soon.
Right, back to unpacking/repacking/writing shopping/to-do lists!
Forgot to say she recommended blood pressure monitor, where did you get yours JCJ?? Did it give really accurate readings??
Don't want something scarily expensive haha xx
Glad you are back JCJ and you had a lovely time and lots of laughter, soooooo good for you!!
On the "feel like ****" bench..............been to docs, blood tests done, she suggested labrynthitis as a possiblilty am thinking that maybe right as now have nausea, blood pressure readings high, and suggestion to come off my skin tablets to see if that helps with itching, fingers crossed all over soon!
Haven't started book yet a fiction by H Coben, was one of those people who was never without a book, now just have no concentration, am blaming the missing marbles xx
PS Start packing FF hee hee!!! x x
Quiet time, reading time, much enjoyed, is over for the moment, work and errands for the next two weeks now. Then two weeks off, tomorrow is August = MMU4 = YAY. Is it too soon to pack?
Glad that you felt well enough and enjoyed your lunch Katy, also glad that you are contacting your Drs. tomorrow. Have a check up.
I would encourage anyone to read books, it's an escape into another world and a source of knowledge. Which book have you bought? I hope you enjoy it.
Yep will do that tomorrow, may just make a telephone appt, will wait and see what they say.
Had lunch out today didn't eat everything as I usually do haha!! Couldn't cancel as we have tried for weeks to get this organised, had a good time but soooooooo glad to be home again.
Thank you for volunteering FF, you have also influenced me to buy a book, will be the first I have read for about a year??
Enjoy your quiet time xx
I would come and tidy your house in a heartbeat Katy, just give me the adress! Are you alright today? Your daughters are definitely right, get yourself to the Drs. on Monday. Had you eaten? Possibly a low blood pressure problem? Easily fixed . I hope you really are as ok as you say you are. Please get checked out.
I've sorted and cleaned my house so am on the reading bench again. Didn't get round to the garden, maybe tomorrow?
Well, well had an interesting afternoon yesterday, went to butchers, bought some stuff, came out of shop and felt funny?? Really dizzy, then proceeded to fall to the ground, didn't faint but couldn't keep upright. Helped up by passersbys, oh dreary me.....................skinned elbows, knees, cut hand and knuckle, mmmmmmmm.
Still feel a bit odd but really ok, body a tad sore from fall.
Daughters' saying get to docs but will wait and see.
Prob the missing marbles rolling around?? haha
Sooooooooo will have quiet day today, just a bit of tidying, then feet up xx
Can you come and tidy my house FF?? x
Another lovely lazy day. Two books ordered from Mark Futon arrived, add those to the four bought at the car boot sale last Sunday and that's the weekend sorted.
Busy day tomorrow, both work and housework. I will avoid the reading bench, house looking a little neglected after three days of sitting on it. I need to dust, polish, hoover, get the washing machine on (running out of clean undies!), gardening needs to be done as well. SIL sorted it out the other week but the darned weeds are creeping back!
We will have to search for the "missing" marbles.............
I can never find them.............
Good you are having a couple of lazy days after all the waiting, worry etc, FF.
Have fed the ducks, let baby wander about, sung lots of songs ( with my horrific singing voice ), listened to my GD talking non stop, then singing on stop, happy days!
Am away to lie down, feet up for the rest of the day/night xx
PS Do you know where you are JCJ???? xx
My marbles are not intact, they have gone.....left.....are somewhere? This morning I had to put the tv on to check what day it was!
Having sorted my plans for the holidays , I've had a real lazy day today, just read books. Quick trip to supermarket, only needed milk, spent £30, you all know how that happens
Planning another lazy day tomorrow reading more books.
Have a lovely time JCJ. The weather (although I hope it's good) is immaterial, just make the most of this time with your daughter and enjoy it.
FF, I simply cannot let you take responsibilty for me not knowing where I was going or where I was, therefore your marbles are still intact hahahaha!!!
Will show you pictures to prove I was somewhere???
JCJ, have a lovely time, hope you have wi fi so we know what you are up to!
Quiet tidying up day today, will have to iron and hoover so am on the "just thinking about it" bench, near the "CBA" bench xx
And of course: camping day dawns and it's raining! And significantly colder! Hey ho.
Car all packed. Picnic and perishables in fridge. Ice packs freezing. Cold bags at the ready. YD & I set of for Craven Arms tomorrow. Meeting her off train at station 10 miles from here at 11am (she has to leave their car for her OH). Cue thunder, lightning, gales and a massive drop in temperature - but hopefully, this time, NOT a hideous bout of sickness!
When I finished packing the car I was in a right panic. What had I forgotten? Way too much space left - even accounting for 2 cold bags, the flask bag, and my handbag. Then realisation dawned. YD's suitcase and sleeping bag will be added tomorrow. Phew! Haven't got to unpack to see what's missing!
I could keep quiet and hope no-one notices.......... or I could 'fess up.......... It was ME, I've looked back and I'M the one that has completely lost all plots, marbles and sanity to confuse Loch Lomond with Loch Ness. My only defence is that my mind has been elsewhere lately. Elsewhere? Completely missing I think now
I have actually sat down with a calendar today and worked out my holiday entitlement and the hours I need to work and sorted out a plan that takes into account the decorating, new lino laying and teachers making a mess. Obviously MMU4 was a priority.
Happy to know that you have found your ankle chains JCJ. Will expect you to be wearing all of them in Morecambe.
5 ankle chains woo hoo!! Nothing more infuriating than losing things, grrrrrrrrr.
Had both grandchildren today, one hooked on the laptop and the other sleeping so very quiet, when GS woke up we went for our duck walk...........baby still eats bread for the ducks, soooooo funny and big sister wants to feed every bird in the vicinty, fun times had by all!
Mum can now use micro, hurrah, and toaster has been replaced so another woo hoo moment.
Nipped quickly into town, my feet are sooooooooo sore, the lido usually makes walking a little better, not today so am off to the "ouchy" bench.
Pssst, was nowhere near Loch Lomond either, help................xx
Guess what, ladies! I've found my ankle chains! Now that I, temporarily, can't wear them due to swollen ankle and bite scars, I have FIVE ankle chains!! I'll have to wear them all at once, when I can!
I was rooting around on my dressing table last night and knocked the lid off an ornamental souvenir wooden pot and ****** me! There were the 2 ankle chains I wore last summer!! Goodness only knows why I put them in there instead of in the box where they live!! Pity there weren't any marbles in there too? Or plots?
KTC, I wondered why everyone was going on about Nessie, when you said you were going to Loch Lomond; I thought Loch Ness was in a completely different place, but I bowed to your 'superior' knowledge - being Scottish! Perhaps we should all go to Elgin? I believe there are marbles there? 😜
oooh FF, will bring top down with me, that's really kind of you, remember am hopeless so it will have to be as basic as basic can be!!
Ok, where was I??? Not going to embarrass myself by stating on the forum where I was, suffice to say it was over 100 miles from Loch Ness............................please help me find my lost marbles..................
JCJ when are you off? Lots of camping this year, will be luxury for you in Norcambe hee hee.
Ali, have not been long haul either, so cannot advise, just have a fabulous time. How will you get those camels on the plane??
grumpy sounds wonderful.
Mum still cannot work her microwave and the toaster is broken.................xx
Golly gosh, everyone is busy busy busy!!!!!
Sitting in Lerwick on Shetland just now, going on the big boat to Orkney at tea time.
Going for a walk with doggies while it's sunny.
Love to everyone
I've never been to China, Ali, or flown long haul for that matter, but if you are taking Tapoxyfen, don't forget to wear those lovely flight socks because of the increased risk of DVT!
Are you any good at using chopsticks?
I bet Hump and Dink are excited? I can just see Dink wearing chopsticks on her head and sporting an embroidered satin top! 🙂
Are you going to introduce Chinese style wedding dresses, or are they just suppliers?
Hello all 🙂 have any of you been to China? I have to go next week for a work trip (sadly no time for sight seeing) . I've never been to China and it's decades since I flew long haul, any tips re travel or the country appreciated (eg food, customs etc)
I'm on the sad bench. Text from B-I-L - he's spent the last couple of days visiting his new 1 month old grandson. I know my sister was upset that she wouldn't get to meet the new grandchild, so it's sad that B-I-L was visiting without her :'(
However, it would have been worse if he'd been a girl: sister had 2 sons and 2 grandsons and was always slightly envious of me having a son and a daughter. At least she didn't miss that. Clutching at straws? I think B-I-L was relieved to be heading home: 3 small boys: one VERY small and the other 2 over excited at the start of the school holidays was very wearing for him. I think he's looking forward to some quiet time on his own!
Finally got OH to agree to holiday plans. He definitely wants to camp, and we're going to visit Anglesey from 4th August. I've made a booking enquiry for a week, initially, but we may stay 2 weeks or more (he's adamant he'll be fine, but I'm not sure how well he'll cope with his PD - and we haven't camped for more than a week at a time for over 4 years!) Will definitely be back in time to travel to Morecambe tho' 😁
I remember you too Supertrouper and have a glass to prove it! So sorry to read of your reason for returning to the forum. This d****d disease!
Katy - where HAVE you been? I've spent this week envisioning you enjoying Loch Ness and now you've not been there? So glad that you have had a lovely time. No, I'm not yet on holiday, still have to give the school a good clean before I can have my three weeks off but the teachers aren't helping as they are still sorting out stuff and making a real mess and the decorators are in. Thanks for the hugs, much appreciated. Bring your much loved top to Morecambe and I'll see if I can fix it for you.
JCJ - thank you for suggestion of fruit and fibre, much nicer. Not going to worry until the time to worry arrives. I'm perfectly ok and so was Mum. As you've said, if wasn't for the CT scan I wouldn't know. And if I didn't have a "history" I wouldn't have been scanned.
I've spent the day on the lazy bench, read a book and watched athletics on the tv. Son and family coming over tomorrow, will be nice to see them.
Ended up no where near Loch Ness, no wonder couldn't find Nessie..............will really have to learn my geography..............
Had a lovely time lots of eating and laughing, must have put on another stone at least??
So no broadband apart from a tiny little spot, took so long to get connected it was mind boggling so gave up, then came home to no broadband grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
But have it half sorted, engineer call on Tues, mmmmmm!
Supertrouper, you are very welcome to join us, will be lovely to see you again, my glitterberry glass still has pride of place, so sorry you are back on the forum with your diagnosis, but you will receive lots of support, big hugs.
You must be on the "happy bunny" bench JCJ, hurrah no school for weeks.............
FF, are you off now? Glad your daughter's house is officially hers now, woo hoo.
As JCJ says, if you hadn't had the scan you prob would have no idea you had it, with changing your diet a little hopefully it will stay quiet and not cause you any major problems fingers crossed and big hugs.
The top is lace and has a ribbon at the bottom of the sleeve, so really not sure if I could attempt a repair job??? Not with my skills anyway, haha!!
Have to go out later, some shopping but am on the "CBA" bench for the time being xx
Hello Supertrouper! Yes I remember you, you were lighting the way for me and many others through the Dark Dark Woods when I was feeling utterly lost and crappy. I'm sorry mets bring you back to Benchland, get those darned alligators fed (you can also aim to knock them out with a direct hit between the eyes - you get double points for a bullseye xx)
Last day, at long ****** last! And the kids go home at one. 🙂 Hooray!
Will be sorry to see some of the Y6s leave but relieved that a lot are moving on to pastures new!
Leavers' Evening at school yesterday, so I didn't get home until 7:30pm. So exhausted this morning that, when I forgot to put on my glasses, I just assumed the poor vision was due to tiredness!
Putting pillows and duvet on the Sleep Bench where I shall spend the foreseeable future - once I've got through today! 😴
Afternoon tea at the madlands sounds like just what I need. All depends on when and what my treatment plan is. I should find out more tomorrow.
I've missed you guys!
Hi Super trouper! Of course I remember you. So sorry to hear the reason you are back on the forum. 😞
We are meeting again, in Morecambe, in August. Afternoon tea at The Madlands again, if you want to join us!
You have LOT of reading to catch up! 🙂
Hi - do any of you remember me? I came to one of the mad morecambe events a few years ago. I am back on the forum due to just being diagnosed with bone mets so I am currently sitting on the pissed of bench throwing stuff to the aligators.
Hope you are all doing well? I will try and scroll back and see what everyone is getting up to - at least I haven't arrived in the middle of a panto!
Don't think about the scary bits, FF. You wouldn't even know you had diverticulitis if you hadn't had BC and therefore those scans!
My next door neighbour has it. She would be fine if she hadn't also had stomach cancer - completely unrelated - 5 years ago, from which she has made a complete recovery. Her diverticulitis only causes problems when she doesn't eat properly (and with half her stomach taken away, she struggles to each much, and not always the 'right' things.)
I can recommend Fruit & Fibre cereal - the well known brand (that also make cornflakes), or supermarket own brand. It has more taste than cardboard shreddies. I throw some extra raisins, grapes or a chopped up banana in. A bowl of that keeps me going until lunchtime without the desire to snack on biscuits (most days :p) It also keeps me going......if you get my drift.... in a comfortable and regular fashion!! 😄
Y6 Leavers' performance today. Dress rehearsal in front of the rest of the school this morning and performance for parents this afternoon. Having taught the Y5 half of the class, elsewhere, through all the rehearsals, I was suddenly asked, 10 minutes before the dress rehearsal, if I'd sit at the laptop and do all the music and sound effects (all on CD). Talk about stress! I got through it with only a few mistakes - scribbled extra notes for myself on the script and braced myself for the afternoon show.
Then..... I was told there was a powerpoint to display on the screen behind the actors on stage and I had to cue in the right pictures for each scene. As the parents were arriving, I was frantically trying to figure out how to show the PowerPoint pictures on the screen without also showing the list of CD tracks I was cuing in.
With, literally, seconds to spare, I sorted it out. It was absolutely boiling in the hall, and with the stage fright/under-rehearsed terror, my hands were sweating so much I struggled to operate the laptop mouse pad. A couple of times I accidentally stopped/started the music in the wrong places but I blamed the heat and nobody complained. Nearly had a nervous breakdown!! It's a good job I've had practice at public performance with all our Benchland Productions?? 😁
1 1/2 days to go.
YD put on Twitter yesterday "In case you are wondering when this weather will break: JCJ and I are going camping next Wednesday" to which her fiancée replied "My over trousers are in the drawer" !!
Saw the GP this morning. He gave me a print out about diverticulitis. Read the relevant bits, skimmed the scary bits and OMG it can be scary! I'm just to follow a high fibre diet. I also know (thank you Mum!) that it can never give any real problems so I'm not worried but I'll be careful. I'm knitting shreddies in the evening and eating them in the morning!
ST stayed late at school tonight, she has rearranged all the furniture and carpets in her classroom and both of the offices. I'm so glad she did it tonight instead of just before next term starts. It makes it easier for me to clean it and lessens the risk that I'll miss somewhere that gets exposed when they do move furniture last minute. I am slightly handicapped by fact that I can't shift heavy furniture because of the risk of Lynn.
I volunteered to be responsible for the water checks (to prevent legionella) that need to be done every week. I do them in term time so I know what to do and after talking with ST, no one else knew where the outside taps were!
Daughter and SIL popped in today, now they finally own the house that they moved into last October and they can get on with the extension that they need. It's been complicated and solicitors only make it more complicated but it's finally done and dusted.
I've hibernated today and kept all the curtains closed. Just ran out to school, fortunately a Victorian building that has thick walls and was reasonably cool. I've dug out an oscillating fan that hubby and I used to have in our shop. It's not been used for 11 years but it turned straight on and only needed a little nudge to get it to move. CH thermostat tells me it's 27 degrees in my living room, so goodness knows what it is outside in the sun.
Cannot imagine what would be like to live somewhere where these temperatures are the norm. Not for me. Good luck to your colleague JCJ.
Daughter and I cancelled a trip to look at kennels. She is going on holiday and can't take her dog with her this time. She has provisionally booked this kennels but wanted to have a look at it before she confirmed. We both felt it wasn't a good idea to take baby GD out in this heat, so we'll go another day.
Off to GP in the morning to find out what I do about this diverticular diagnosis. Obviously start a high fibre diet but is there anything else I should do? Any medication needed? Any supplements? Possibly not as I have no symptoms. I'll find out tomorrow.
