Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Squeaky Shoe Orchestra performing their first gig tonight at my birthday party!  I have erected the marquee and am busy at the moment making sandwiches, cakes, nibbles etc.

Actually they're for a picnic lunch.  We're all going to the Fleet Air Arm Museum today.  I've always wanted to go and thought today would be a good day.  Hope it's as good as I think it will be.

I'll be back in plenty of time so glad rags on, knee highs, tiaras, the whole works and let's PARTY!!!!!

Must get on or I'll be late, got to be at daughter's at 10 so I've only got an hour and I'm not even dressed yet!

What about "boogie shoes"?? though do like Rhinestones on the Soles of her Shoes - Paul Simon!

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

When I was supposed to be working on the school website this afternoon, I got to thinking what tunes our new Benchland Squeaky Shoe Orchestra (BESSO?) might play. Please feel free to add suggestions to their repertoire.

I have a pair of new shoes with very clicky heels, so I'll join the percussion section.

Crocodile Shoes...... (Obviously!) Jimmy Nail

Dancing (sqeaking) Shoes - Cliff Richard

Blue Suede Shoes (Doc Martins?) - Elvis

Diamonds (Rhinestones?) on the Soles of her Shoes - Paul Simon

In these Shoes? - Kirsty McCall

The New Soft (Squeaky) Shoe Emmylou Harris

Sand (squeaks) in My Shoes - Dido

My Shoes Keep Walking (talking) Back to You - ?

To be continued.....

Anybody seen Katy? There's a glamorous lady over there, where she was this morning  - the one standing by FF in the shoe orchestra! :p!!

I booked the French trip last night! Yippeee! So excited! Probably going to have to purchase a new, smaller wheely suitcase  - we have a LOT of trains to negotiate. Also need to halve the amount I normally take on holiday.

Yorkshire Dales? Love it there! Hope you have good weather. Absolutely persisted it down here today. Don't want that in a campervan with 2 soggy doggies??

Because of op last year can now wear all my old shoes, put on a pair and started SQUEAKING, both shoes, How do you get rid???? Better not wear them to MMU2 haha!

Not sure if it's bloating or water retention, not nice was very pleased cause I had lost some weight now it's piling on so am not going near the scales know I would be horrified, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! xx

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Katy, any chance that diuretics may help your swelling middle regions? Sounds like water retention? Just a thought.

I'm on the excited bench! OH has finally made a decision! We're going to Annecy, in the French Alps, by rail, on 10th August for a week! Nearly booked it tonight but I'm really tired - been a very long day - can't believe it's only Tuesday - and I need to check out stuff like connecting trains, overnight London accomodation and insurance  with our combined medical histories, so I'll do it at the weekend.

This means we'll be back in London on 16th, so if MMU2 is 18th, I should be able to make it. Double hooray! 🙂 😄 (I hope it wasn't me you were waiting for??!) 🙂

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Took Lady Meg and ASBO Joey on their first camping trip - oh my goodness!!! Joey loved roaming around on the long tether while Meg sat on the grass in a superior fashion thinking it wasn't 5-star enough!!! Anyhow once they realised that it was permanent walks all day and CHIPS for lunch and lots of cuddles, they loved it.

So that's another part of life they can enjoy with their new Mum.

grumpy

PS and the weather was OK, cool wind but sunny most of the time. Off to the Yorkshire Dales next week.....

Oh my JCJ all those treats and presentsSmiley Happy!! Glad you had a super, duper day!!

Double OH MY FF, naked with your new TV?????????????

What's going on???

MMU2 we are just waiting for one, you know who you areSmiley Wink! then emails will be sent to all!!

Had the most interesting morning, had a Lynn specialist giving out lots and lots of information. The very swollen arm is filled with fat (something to do with protein) now, I always thought it was fluid. You can be referred for a type of liposuction which takes away all of the fat, two ladies in our group are going to be put on the waiting list and were soooooooooooooooo pleasedSmiley Happy! I thought it was just wonderful! And you can get different colours of sleeves and gloves on the NHS??? No one tells you that?? Ever! So all in all a most informative day.

Sun is shining here and it's actually warm, a woo hoo day indeed!

Going to have my haircut tomorrow have been walking around with a MULLET, think 70's, not a pretty sight xx

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Many happy returns JCJ, glad you had a lovely day.  My day has been quite busy, Son came over and installed the new tv and we have removed both the old tv and the old bed to the local tip.  I can get into the spare room again now the bed has gone.  Two of the grandchildren "helped " us and it would have been so much quicker without them!Smiley Frustrated  We got rather wet loading and unloading cars too.

Sitting here now watching the new tv, wearing not a lot of clothing (it's ok... I am decent).  I've had to put the heating on to put washing on the radiators to dry for work tomorrow and it's VERY warm in here. I hope I can hang the rest of it out tomorrow.

Have we got a definite date for MMU2 yet?

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Thank you Katy. :). I had a lovely day. ES texted yesterday to ask me to fetch him from nearby village as he'd sold his Jaguar on Mark Futon-Ebay's favourite website and the buyer just happened to live near us! He then had no vehicle to get the 90 miles home - or to work next week! - so he's spent last night and today at our house, trawling t'internet. His friend took him to see one car while OH & I went for pub Sunday lunch and a walk in Calke Abbey park.....the skies opened so we cut it short! Got home to be asked if I could ferry ES to look at another car -back near where we'd just been! He paid £450 for an ancient "characterful" Volvo estate which he's just driven off home in. Made him promise to let me know he arrives safely! Bit of a come down from a 3-year old Jag with all bells & whistles, but he's trying to get together the deposit to buy his flat. 🙂

Then YD rang so we had a lovely bit of 3way banter between her and her brother & me. Magic. Also YD says she's got an interview for a new job next week AND she's coming to see us to bring our birthday pressies next weekend!

As he left, ES said he'll be up again in a couple of weeks to take us out to lunch for our birthdays! My cup runneth over! :):):)

All in all, a lovely way to forget it's back to the grindstone tomorrow! Must go and put cream and jam in the sponge cake I made yesterday.

Thanks for the balloons and the yummy cake. My tiaras slipped a bit and my knee-highs are damp and twisted with all the dashing about in the rain!

That will be fun Katy, bet you will look 'gawjus'.
Been promoted out of the beginners swimming class to the improvers. Sound not much but the improvers do length after length of all the different strokes! I liked being a beginner!

I did visit to pub too JCJ. Must admit did not have enough enthusiasm to bake cakes! Just had to pick up 190 stitches to edge my waistcoat, and that was only one side! Can't build up enthusiasm to do the other side yet!
Have a fun Sunday, I am birthday shopping with ED!

PS love the picsSmiley Happy!

Another new TV what's going on??? Do hope you get a bargain............love bargains! Glad you are off the "grrrrrr" bench, FF and a new job? That's what worrying does for youSmiley Tongue!

Bought abdominal push thing yesterday and knee pads, nooooooooooooooo not for me, know I've lost my marbles but haven't gone that far yet, it's for YD, I wouldn't be able to get down on the floor to push the thingSmiley Embarassed!

I was saying to her that I feel a bit dowdy at the moment, don't like my hair and don't like the very fat tummy either sooooooooo she said that she would arrange a make up session for me (just usually wear lipstick) it's Thurs! She said that if I liked the make up she would pay for it.......................sat on the "teary but not showing it to YD" bench. Thought it was really lovely of her! Bit apprehensive though.

GD was asked to do some modelling, for a big store, we were all excited, then realised the show was the day we leave for our holSmiley Frustrated ! They will have another show so all is not lost........

Did shopping early, picked up a new book so feet up for the rest of the day, relaxing!

Oh almost forgot phoned about lidocaine thing and am on the waiting list so all fine, I am in the system!!! xx

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Ooh er! Long awaited NHS letter (non-BC!) has arrived! Been expecting it, was excited to receive it, but now I feel sick.  Invited for pre-op assessment on Thursday 22 May and Trigger Thumb op on Friday 6th June, 12.00.

So the 'invite' arrives with my birthday cards, and the op is the day after our 'unofficial' 32nd wedding anniversary (married on 2nd, reception on 5th - long story)!!

Hope it's not true what they say about Friday afternoon surgery! 😞

Going out for Sunday pub lunch, and a walk, tomorrow as it's my birthday and OH's birthday on Wednesday. 🙂

So now I should be taming the wilderness that is the garden, and making cakes for colleagues on Monday (jam & cream sponge and chocolate & pear cakes) but I am on the slightly apprehensive but still CBA bench! Going to potter up to the local wood later, to see the bluebells! 🙂

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

So glad all is normal FF. Can understand how cross you must be with the hospital. We all wait with bated breath for results as it is, without an erroneous recall!
Glad the feather spitting is over!

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

No longer spitting feathers, just wandering about shaking my head and muttering "unbelievable" at frequent intervals. It's been so nice to have two days without worry. Someone is going to hear ALL about this believe you me, but I have to wait for the copy of the consultant's letter before I know exactly WHO to shout at, sorry, I mean write to.

Normal?  Me?  I have no idea. Probably not.  Answers on a postcard please!  Yes, I've still got the sqeaky shoes, now only wear them when visiting family and walking is not on the agendaSmiley Happy

Pity about Owliver JCJ, I would have liked to see a photo of your OH's face!

I'm not too sure about this new job, think I jumped in there without really thinking it through.  Still, it's only been three days, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Hope you all have a good weekend.  I am going shopping for a new tv.....hope I can find a bargain!

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Hehehehe! Just recieved this from kinittedknockersuk.com:

"Hi C....

Thank you for sending us pictures of your knocker...it looks really good.

I have one comment...when you measure you need to press down on the knocker...when you do this does it become larger and therefore 6.5 inches and then becomes a D cup.   If not then dont worry it remains a C."

Better delete THAT off my school tablet?! Or I could be facing disciplinary action!? 😛

I was very tempted to put Owliver in the box, Katy, maybe along with his twin brother ToWhitby (in recognition of where he was knitted last week!) but it would require a ladder and a screw driver to take the top off the box - could shove him through the hole but then I'd not be able to get him out again! Decided a) I CBA and b) don't 'do' ladders/heights!

You wanted pics of cat and boob - see my images!

You calmed down yet FF, from your overwhelming relief/justifiable anger or are you still spitting feathers? 🙂

I am getting a little further forward about our summer holiday plans - printed (off t'internet by moi) Eurostar holiday pages are now on the dining table, so hopefully, we will have a decision soon (by which time everything will be booked?!)  So hope I can organise it to be able to make MMU2!

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Sorry Katy, I have a hairy face too!! I think the only difference is that I am noticeably blind in my left eye, and I cough a lot. Oh, how tall are you? I'm 5' 2" and fat.

Still on the itchy bench, but the dermatologist is sending me for a punch biopsy on my leg on May 6th. Fingers crossed they will find out what it is.

So very glad that FF is out of the waiting room and back in NEDland again. xx

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Woo hoo FF is NORMALSmiley Happy so, so pleased for you!!

How awful, having all that worry but wonderful that it was all for nothing, seems to have been a bit of a mess...........you disappeared from the system, then an error recall, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Psst is she really normal???? Do you still have your squeaky shoes??

Was at docs this morning, have a birdie visiting me on and off in the nether regions so have the usual preps for that, altered pain tabs (fingers crossed) antis for holiday and cream for my varicose vein which I've had for years but now have "bruising" around my ankle. WHEW! He asked if I'd started my lidocaine infusions, I too appear to have been lost in the system?? Have to give them a call, mmmmmmmm! Was originally hoping I would have it before hols, we'll wait and see.

Been to the supermarket as well all before 10 amSmiley Happy! I feel exhausted!! haha!

Did you put Owliver in the box? xx

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

The news is good.  My mammogram is normal.  I was recalled IN ERROR!!!!!!  Unbelievable.  Bl**dy unbelievable.  A week of worrying myself sick, my children worrying, a fifty mile round trip and £2 to park the car and it was a MISTAKE!!!!!!

I am so relieved but I am also furious and my consultant wasn't happy either. Apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to recently and it is a waste of her time to see patients who do not need her.  She said she would be writing to "Bookings" to complain and will send me a copy of her letter. I will be sending them a very strongly worded letter myself.  She made sure that I had a copy of the leaflet on how to complain.(PALS).

She also gave me a copy of my mammo report and I was quite intrigued to find out that I have titanium clips in my left boobie.  Didn't know that before.

Right, I'm going to have a large glass of something alcoholic and watch some tv and celebrate the fact that I'm still NED.

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Thanks for the good wishes.  Off to work shortly then on to the hospital.  I seem to be sat on a swinging bench going from optimism to pessimism, back and forth, back and forth.  Makes me feel quite sick.  Trying to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.  Had all the idiotic comments "oh, you'll be fine" etc.  Why can't they just say "Good luck!"

Started a new job today.  In addition to my school 'caretakering', I am now a meal-time assistant at a different school.  Went well, only about 20 children have school meals so not too onerous.  Need to learn all their names now, the only one I know is my grandaughter!

Must go, will be back later but it may be quite late as going to sons after hospital.

I have the pattern, I've been and bought some cotton yarn - gulped at the price - will have to find a cheaper source if knittedknockersuk.com accept me as a knitter!! Just got to make one and send photos, but I have a tabby cat to finish first! 🙂

Loving the new tele, Katy, currently watching the snooker live online with no studio wibbling by hasbeens and wannabes! Brilliant!

Not even a twig or a feather in the camera birdbox, but we have got a blackbird nest-building in the ivy right outside our living room window! Thought we'd frightened her away by coming to and fro very close to it, but she was carrying more beakfulls of stuff into it today. Best excuse ever for having an untidy garden?! Still tempted to put Owliver (see new avatar) in the box to give OH a surprise! 😛

I had my mastectomy on December 12th 2012 and have gone braless ever since as I can't ABIDE my hospital prosthesis - it's stuck in the back of my drawer!! But since I've had my knitted knocker, I wear it every day and look like a regular woman again. Regular that is apart from tatty hair, fat stomach, wobbly legs - you get my drift.

Used to love Filey, Kay, When the kids were little we camped, 7 summers running, at Humble Bee farm (to my embarrassment when son was stung by a bee on his eyelid one year and we had to go to Scarborough A&E and give our address - was hard to convince them I wasn't taking the p***!! :)) It's near Hunmanby, not far from Filey, the site has got a lot posher these days!!

I'm on the excited crafter bench. I saw Poems had mentioned a knitted knocker (see Woodies thread) so I got YD to investigate FB page, (I deleted my FB account and don't really want to open another.) YD contacted them with my email and they have emailed me details and a pattern, and I can't wait to go into town and buy some yarn (has to be cotton, and I don't have any in my vast left-over 'wool' collection!!) Knitty booby do!! 😄

Re: stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND)

Hi all. Katy, I am doing ok thank you. I try not to think about my back too much, just take the painkillers when I need them. Had all the family over yesterday and am good today, so can cope with that! Hope you are doing well
Foxy, so hope nothing to worry about. ST glad your biopsies were clear. My 6 month check was due Wednesday but was phoned to say that they were very busy so have pushed back to June!
Glad you had good weather JCJ. We had some variable weather in Filey. The first night the mist was swirling around the caravans. My brother texted me to say 'don't go out on the moors, especially not carrying a lantern. I've seen in the films that's not a good thing to do in the fog! LOL.
We had GS on Mon, Tues and Weds. Went to the seaside, went to see Muppet movie and tried to do kite flying (not enough wind). Have a rest day today. Will put rest of lemon cake, Dorset Apple cake and chocolate fudge cake into plottery shed. Ooh and rest of scones and jam.
Had an afternoon tea in Scarborough. Was served scones with a plastic pack of jam and squirty cream - won't be returning there.
Enjoy the remains of your Easter all

Oh Foxy - I was recalled too and told I needed an ultrasound. I had 7 horrid days in "the waiting room" before being told that a mole that I have had for donkey's years had shown up on the mammo and it was nothing to worry about! Then last week after going into hossie for lipomodelling - I ended up having 3 punch biopsies instead because of skin changes below the reconstruction. IFHC!!!!!!!!!
