Oh dreary, dreary moi, think I have broken my toe, boo hoo, decided to smash said toe against the security door.
Toe has doubled in size and is a spectacular shade of purple!
So away to sit on the "feeling sorry for myself" bench, as we always say tomorrow is another day xx
Oh dreary me JCJ, on the plus side, now all fixed without call outs etc, these things are just sent to TRY us!
Now who has the "soggy bottom"?
Glad your back is a little better FF.
Am trying sooooooooooooooo hard to get off the "CBA" bench cause have things to do, it's not working...........
Have my next lido at the end of the week, trying to be optimistic but it's difficult when you are actually feeling sorer, haha!
Just munched a cheese and ham roll, a small choc bar and a packet of crisps and have slurped all the soup in the shed, healthy eating yeah!! xx
Lawks, JCJ what a palaver. Glad you have got it sorted now. Must admit to a slight chuckle when you said about the washing powder, that just adds to the £$@% of it all.
Varifocal glasses? Hmmm, maybe. I will have to see what the optician says. Ooops unintended pun there!
Not my birthday Katy, that was last May. The trip was always going to be a belated present as daughter did not want to go while pregnant, quite understandably. Probably be the around the next birthday now! Back has been a bit better today as I've not done very much at all. Sat on the CBA bench mostly drinking muggateas. Hence no appt made at opticians, no washing done, no housework done, no shopping done, no cooking done, (thanks for the soup and rolls.......delicious.) Must get on the do something bench tomorrow.
Went into the kitchen barefoot (ooh! Such promiscuity? :p) to empty wash machine and found myself paddling 6 feet from machine. @#££%&!! 5 year parts warranty ran out LAST weekend! Of course.
Researched what could be causing leak, on t'internet this morning. Cleaned soap drawer, door glass and seals and gingerly put another load on. Stayed in kitchen, making bread and soup, to keep an eye on it. Very glad I did, because the first time it drained, I heard water splashing! It was coming out of the top of the pipe on the wall - into which the washing machine drain hose fits. I quickly grabbed the hose and stuffed it in the sink. Then had to stand there for half an hour while the cycle finished as there was no way of securing the hose.
The pipe is 6" below a fitted work top in a 6" wide gap, so I wondered how the @#£% I was going to unblock it (whilst glad nothing is wrong with the machine!).
Anyway, OH managed to separate the pipe outside the house and poked in the bend with some wire. He found a snail(!!) and "assorted gubbins". Water now draining away properly and next load is on. 🙂
When clearing up the water, I moved the washing powder box and the soggy bottom fell out! Washing powder everywhere!! Cleaned that up. Pegged out the washing 5 minutes before it started to rain! Arrrgggh!
However, the (homemade) sweet potato and chilli soup and (ditto) seeded rolls we, eventually - at nearly 3pm! - had for lunch, were delicious! I've put some in the shed. Help yourselves.
I am now firmly ensconced on the CBA bench and will be for the rest of the foreseeable future! 🙂
Aaaaaaaaaaaaah what a shame FF, hopefully you will be fine soon. Is it your birthday today? If so have a lovely day, difficult with back problems cause you have to keep moving, resting is a no no even when you do feel bad. Fingers crossed.
YD is almost home, only a train journey now, then my peace really will be shattered!!!
Woke up on "the thudding head and feeling sicky" bench this morning, GD has had the bug, ED yesterday and not to be left out me today, seemingly a 24 hour one, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx
Sorry about the London trip, FF. It would be miserable doing all that travelling and walking about if you're back's playing up though? I'm sure her Maj will be consoled and will look forward to our (whoops! Slip of the tongue?!) *your* visit in the spring.
I can recommend varifocal glasses to get around the need for several pairs. They take a bit of getting used to, at first, but it's amazing how quickly you learn to look through the right part of the lens depending on what distance you're looking. I wouldn't be without mine now! A certain opticians offers 2 for 1, so you could get varifocal sunglasses at the same time!
I hope your back problem turns out to be something they can easily fix... and soon. In the meantime try not to bend over too much to the children at school and don't strain yourself working too hard!!
I can see him! A very colourful chameleon indeed.
The trip to Her Maj's house tomorrow has had to be postponed. Unfortunately my back is still being troublesome and going to London is not possible. I shall look forward to doing the trip next Spring. Her Maj is said to be very disappointed.
Saw the GP about my back on Monday and he said he would send me for X-Rays and physiotherapy. Had the X-ray today, and see the physio next Thursday. Much quicker than I expected. Still working but a bit slower than normal.
I need a visit to the optician too, cannot see to read my music! Have glasses for distance (only wear them for driving), have glasses for reading (don't wear them at all). Have tried both pairs to read the music but no good. So need a pair for in between! Also need new sunglasses as mine were pinched from a shoe shop in town. Realised I'd left them there, went back and they were gone! Consoled myself with the fact that they were prescription glasses and whoever pinched them would not be able to see through them!
Knitting this small dress, seems to be going ok, counting stitches after every row and hoping for the best.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
"Och well" won't need my passport for MMU3 xx
It seems it is "Och Noo" not "Och Aye" to independence. I hope you are not too disappointed, Katy? 🙂
Nope couldn't find him xx
My glasses now fit OK - don't seem to be sliding down my nose all the time, but I can still see THE BLOB some of the time. I'm starting to block it out and be unaware of it most of the time - it's just when I look at a certain angle or when I'm tired that it irritates.
However, I just put on the sunglasses for the first time, to drive home from work. Had to push them up every 30 seconds, so I'll have to make ANOTHER trip to SS at some point! 😞
Just finished knitting Colin the Chameleon! See my pics.....if you can find him: he's well camouflaged! 🙂
Am sooooooooooooo envious of your skills!
What a lovely suprise Jane!
Kay you are really going for it hee hee!
JCJ, did you get your glasses sorted?
Off to the dentist soon, got a phonecall this morning asking if I could come along about BMS, clean and polish so all will be ok.
Also received letter for mammo, now that's when I start to feel jittery..............
Is everyone being offered HT automatically now for the 10 years?
Maybe my Mum is hiding them xx
Is your mum hiding somewhere with a MAHOOSIVE stash of marbles, Katy? 😄
I've just picked up my prescription (still got 38 tablets from previous 2 boxes!) After MONTHS of Wockhart, it's suddenly Teva again. Hope I don't notice the difference! It got me to thinking that we could set up a Benchland Tamoxifen exchange (making sure they're the same strength, of course! Mine are 20mg.) so everyone can get their favoured brand. Cunning plan?! 🙂 I don't think I'll be joining you on the 10 year Ta'poxy'fen bench. I'm expecting to swap to AIs (dreading it) next year. But I may be on them for an extra 5 years if the new guidelines say 10 years for HT. 😞
Looked a proper ninny yesterday. Windscreen wiper decided to disintegrate, so I bought a new one. Could I fit the *"'&@£#&£? What @--%+ing clip??? Anyway, finally gave up (OH was wielding pliers and I was afraid he'd damage the bracket) and took it to the garage. Smiled sweetly at the mechanic and he fitted it in, literally, less than 5 seconds. I felt such a fool. Realised the other wiper was breaking too, so went back to the shop to buy another, and the man in the shop offered to put it on. He fitted it faster than I could blink!! Wished I'd got him to do the 1st one!
All quiet on the Benchland front!
Am on the "it's lonely here on the 10 year" bench haha!
Lovely sunny day, woo hoo!
Further proof marbles are disappearing at an alarming rate, was chatting to a neighbour, couldn't remember mid sentence what I was talking about.................she then went on to ask a few questions and I had NO idea what the answers were, one being where my Mum lives??? Oh dreary, dreary me, the search goes on xx
Home from stand-in granny duty.......so on the cream crackered bench. And it's rehearsals tonight!!!
Rest day tomorrow methinks.
ZZZZZZZ
Grumpy
PS dogs similarly exhausted
What a lovely pony!
All went well, have now been signed off from surgical, mammo in the next couple of weeks and the dreaded ta"poxy"fen for 10 years instead of 5, woo hoo scooby dooby/booby doo hahaha!
Soooooooooo can look forward to keeping my hairy face, my hugely fat tum, my weird hair growth and my hot flushes till 2021!! You can't get better than that!
Anyone else joining me? xx
Pip the Puny Pony is finished (see my images - still can't copy the link, on my tablet, like I used to be able to :() His legs are a bit wobbly so he can't stand up very well. (I know the feeling!)
Woo hoo pony is all fixed!
Golly gosh you are all sooooooooo good with this knitting malarkey................
Am totally obsessed with jigsaw puzzles, great distraction when there is nothing exciting to watch on TV.
Had ED and GD for tea yesterday had a good giggle!
Just looked out my appt for B surgeon tomorrow, good job cause had marked calendar 2 hours later than appt actually is, am totally losing it!
"Funny walking" won't have to practise at all hee hee!
Hope the back is behaving FF.
JCJ, you would expect glasses to be fabulous for that price.
Kay have a superly, fantastical hol xx
Pony now re-knitted with his body and head facing the same way. Now I just have to figure out how to assemble him. I made one before and remember this part was tricky - wish I could recall how I did it though! 😞
I think HRM (Her Royal Maj) might quite like the novelty of being upstaged by our elegance: it must be wearing (no pun intended :p) to have to be the best dressed person all the time?
We should practise some silly walks (other than that necessitated by the knee-highs?!) like that Buck Palace Guard who was on the news?! I'd like to bet that She was secretly amused by that too! 🙂
I collected my new glasses yesterday and I don't like them! 😞 I deliberately chose rimless ones as I can't stand seeing the frames when I look through them. These have a fancy bridge across the middle, the right-hand end of which is smack in my line of vision, so wherever I look I have a blurred black blob obstructing the view. It's like having a fly on the lens that I can't rub off. I've tried getting used to it, in the hope that I'll eventually not see The Blob, but I'm just getting angry. The fact that I can't see the left-hand end makes me think there's something wrong with the way the varifocal lenses have been made, or with how they've been put together. (Taken them off altogether to type this!) It doesn't help that they keep sliding down my nose. I shall have to go back to the shop ("Should have gone....." I DID!!) after work tomorrow to get them adjusted and see what they say about The Blob. If they can't fix it, I'll get them to reglaze my old ones instead. Not paying any more though - they've already had nearly £400 off me for these and some "free" sunglasses for driving. 😞
Ooops, poor choice of words there, I should have said "overdressed on the train". Never silly, we are always regal and majestic in our finery which fits in rather well with where I am going. You don't think I should tone it down a bit do you? Don't want to upstage Her Maj.
I thought I was giving up the lunchtime job too but I decided to give it a little bit longer to see what happened and then I rather found that I was enjoying it. I was very surprised! Looking after children is so NOT my thing but it's only an hour and so full on that it passes in the blink of an eye, (and the extra money is very handy):smileyvery-happy:
My daughter has just presented me with a knitting pattern and wool. A small Christmassy (sorry!) dress for the new arrival. Reading of your trials with your knitting JCJ and Kay I am filled with trepidation. I am not the worlds best knitter. At least I've got three months to do it!!
"Don't want to look silly on the train...". Silly? SILLY? How very dare you. We do not look "silly" in our elegant finery! 😛
Very glad it's the weekend so I can slob about in my nightie and dressing gown. Friday was a better day at school, but still full-on and hard work.
I thought you were giving up your lunchtime job, FF? Or was that another school job?
I've got to go and collect my new specs (x2 - "free" sunglasses for driving) this afto. As I've already paid for them (and recovered!) I might treat myself to some retail therapy while I'm in town. Or cake. Or both! 🙂
Last night I realised I had managed something very bizarre and Benchlandish. I have been knitting a pony since last weekend when the girls were here. It is knitted "in the round" on 3 (4) needles. Somehow I've gone wrong at the point where the neck meets the body, (probably too busy nattering?) such that the head is on UPSIDE DOWN!! Weird! I'd almost finished knitting it before I figured out why it didn't look right. Now it's an unravelled pony. Time to start again!
Marbles? What are they?
What a week! Back to school at lunchtime job, expected chaos and was not disappointed. However as the week has gone on we have ironed out the problems and normal service has been resumed.
Newest grandaughter has had her six week check up today and all is well although she is at the lower level for length. As we are a short family this is not a concern!
You are all very welcome to join my trip to Her Maj's house. I hadn't thought but of course I must wear the posh frock, knee highs, tiara etc. Don't want to look silly on the train so will change when we get to London.
I'm just hoping at the moment that it will happen as my back has been playing up for the last two days to the point that walking was difficult. Good job it's Friday and I can have two days to recuperate. Seeing the GP on Monday, perhaps he can suggest some exercises or something. Or at least give me some effective painkillers!
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Jigglin' and a gigglin' JCJ, what a woman haha!
Have BC surgeon appt on Mon and can honestly say am not on the nervous/jittery bench, think having mammo is scarier. Don't have mammo appt yet, am sure it's usually Sept but can't seem to remember anything, my life is full of post its and searching, searching continuously for those lost marbles...................xx
Feeling much better now. Swim did me good. Beyond tired now but not so miserable.
I always put my cossie on under my clothes when I go to the pool, and take underwear to put on after. This week I forgot my bra! Good job I could skuttle to my car in the dark and didn't have to run for a bus!!
Hope you are calmer now JCJ, tomorrow is another day................
Hugely enormous choc cake and a flask of tea, all ready for you in the shed!
Had a phonecall from YD (on her hols) she asked me if I could look up flights back to Scotland, then on to Argentina, WHAT??????????????????
Went into panic mode but all fine, it was for someone else, WHEW xx
Really want to write something amusing to keep me off the CSL bench, but I just can't do it. 😞
It's been a very long week. First cover sessions with all the classes and the children (some of them) have played me up something chronic. Today, I felt like I couldn't do the job any more, and nor did I even want to. 😞
I'm sure it'll pass..... at least I hope so!! Going to drag the kn*****ed bones off for a stress busting swim before I KILL something!
hahaha grumpy, "smelly van" alert!
Have a fab honorary grandma few days, will see you next time!
Think the lido has numbed my brain, not my body.....................still struggling to get up in the morning, so painful grrrrrrr no. 2 at the end of the month
Away to have a muggacoffee and egg mayo sandwich, maybe a packet of crisps, tasty sweetie and a cake, well it IS Wed after all xx
Small campervan + 2 small dogs with flatulence = smelly environment. Oh deary me...
Grumpy
So. Tired. Is. It. Friday. Yet?
I think we should all accompany FF to The Palace, but perhaps not H & D. You know how Dink hates to be upstaged - she thinks she is the MOST important person, like EVER, and a camel tantrum in front of Their Royalnesses would be soooo embarassing?
Are we taking tea? I'm exercising my little pinky (wonder if that will be edited out like "puppy"footing about. 🙂 )just in case. 😄
Have fun with the honorary GCs, Grumpy. Spoil them rotten and then run?! 😛
Off to Fife tomorrow to do stand-in grandma duty for a few days - won't have time for any meetings as hoped. Sorry.......
Joey STILL needs the twice weekly baths, and Meg is packing her cozzie and waterproof.
Grumpy
Oooooooooooh FF can we come with you?
Love the rolling in glitter haha!
We can all dress up and perhaps H & D could come too?
Think of the wonderful entrance, FF you riding in on both camels cause it's you birthday, woo hoo xx
I think you'll need some spoons for your, birthday, FF! I'll start saving - not that I get many spares these days.
You will definitely need the tiara and knee highs if you are visiting her maj's house?! Dame Grumpy might even let you borrow THE frock?! Then you can roll on the floor at school to cover it in glitter - job done AND a blinged-up dress! 🙂
Seriously, though, glitter? In SEPTEMBER? Whatever were they thinking? Do they not understand that the most important person, and therefore the last one you should upset, is the caretaker?!
I'm on the CBA bench this morning, though I really should get dressed and go to the farm shop before YD & M arrive.
45 lengths? Not sure I could do 45 lengths of my grandchildrens paddling pool! I might have to start trying though as I have been told that swimming will help my back. Need to go and buy a costume now, the one I've had in a drawer for the last umpteen years does not fit!
Got to school this afternoon and promtly jumped onto the Victor Meldrew bench ( I don't belieeeeeve it!). They'd only gone and got the glitter out! Yes! GLITTER! BL****Y GLITTER!!! There am I smugly congratulating myself that the school looks good and in two days it doesn't need that much cleaning and there is GLITTER EVERYWHERE!! Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Why do I bother? Oh yes, I know, it's what I get paid for. Sorry girls, feeling a little bit ( a lot) taken for granted tonight, not one of the teachers has commented on how nice the school looks, actually none of them has actually spoken to me apart from to say "hello, had a good holiday?" Holiday? They get six weeks, I get two!!! And breathe! Sorry again, didn't mean to rant on there but I feel better for getting that off my chest.
Newest grandaughter's hips are fine thank goodness. Babysat today for her while other GD had a haircut. Was told she wouldn't wake up but she did and we had a lovely cuddle.
Going to make the most of the weekend before going back to the other school job on Monday, expecting that to be total chaos! Plans are afoot to see both daughters and sons families.
And.......on the 20th of this month I get my birthday treat from my daughter, we are going to London to visit Buckingham Palace! Train leaves at 6am, train gets back at 10 pm, Going to be a long day but worth it.
that sounds far too complicated JCJ??
45 wowee!!
What a fright these "NHS" letters, give you, enjoy the chocolate!
May join you on the "curry" bench, YD off early tomorrow so would be sooooooooo easy just to have a take away, yum yum.................lamb madras........yummmy!
ED just felt baby do a proper kick so all excited, partner keeps missing it, aaaaaaaah.
Looking at hols for next year, what are we like?
Still on the "lethargy" bench, must be something to do with the lido, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx
Just got home, (x kna x) exhausted after the first week back at school to find an NHS letter waiting for me. Breathe! Don't panic! Breathe!
It was an invitation to breast screening at our local mobile van 😞 I tried to ring them to (x give them a piece of my mind x) let them know I didn't need to attend, but of course, there was no-one in the office at 4pm on a Friday! 😞
Message (polite) left and email (ditto) sent.
Now to try to calm down with a mugatea and a chocolate bar. 🙂
Hope everyone is well and not too ouchy. x
PS tried to use strikethrough which is listed on the top of this screen as an option, then I'm accused of using html and it's taken back out of the text. Ho hum! What was that about calming down???? Grrrr!
It was properly dark when I Just drove back from swimming. Summer's over. 😞 I've forgotten how to drive in the dark!
It's been so long since I went swimming that I struggled to remember how to do that too, but eventually managed 45 lengths, despite nattering ninnies IN THE WAY!! 😞 I suspect I'll be stiff tomorrow.
Looking forward to the weekend, especially as YD & her OH are coming. A visit to our local Indian takeaway is planned. Nom nom nom! 🙂
Brilliant that we are all pppppppppppp'ing together!
Well, am trying to lift the terrible lethargy, have had my haircut and bought a pair of SKINNY jeans (am far from skinny but they look nice) haha! Hairdresser says I'm only a few months now off the style I actually want to have so have to be patient for a little bit longer. Also thank you JCJ and FF for your recommendations regarding jeans.
Am on the ppppppppppppppooped bench now, feet up for a while methinks xx
Really shouldn't be drinking tea while reading Benchland. Tea was very nearly spluttered all over laptop at your incontinent/ ppppppeeeing comment JCJ. Seven weeks holiday sounds good to me, hope we get the same.
Tried very hard to get school ready for the staff to come back to today......failed! Really hope they didn't notice. (They never notice what I do but I bet they see what I didn't
) Just the one day behind..... all is now ready for the return of the children tomorrow. Stripey steps looking good! Weather was kind to me.
Newest baby grandaughter has to go to hospital tomorrow to have an ultrasound on her hips. As she was in the breech position for quite a few weeks this is a precaution and everyone expects her to be ok.
Katy, spoons heading your way, I have a few to spare this week.
Glad Pppppeter was apppppreciated! I am very imppppppressed with the ppppostal service! Only pppppposted him after 4ppppppm yesterday. Glad I didn't ppppppay for 1st class! (Seem to be incontinent..... can't stop pppppeeing?! :p)
You sent more than enough to cover the pp(STOPPPP IT!) postage, Ali, so I'll use the extra to buy more wool for Pppppeter's (not Josh's!) brother. 🙂
Found out, this morning that next year's summer holiday is 7 weeks instead of 6. That got us through the day!! 😄 Pity it's nearly a year away though! Kids (well, some of them) were SUCH hard work today!
hahaha grumpy!
Ppppppppplenty of ppppppppppppp's still going on, hee hee.
Not doing nuthin' today, got on fairly well at hos, more blood tests etc but all ok. Thank you for the spoons need a bucketful though..........
Am on the "going crazy" bench YD keeps adding things she just has to do before she goes on hol the list is ENORMOUS and ofcourse she needs my help, 2 more days to go..............then quiet time xx
Meg and Joey have done 4 walks in 4 days of 8 miles plus, so they should be ppppppooped!! No chance, still bright and pppppperky, the little swines.................
grumpy ( and pooped!)
