Scan tomorrow. Have been totally unconcerned about it until I heard myself say to OH that it'll be fine, and remembered saying that before mammo recall appointment. 😞 ooh er! No, it WILL be fine...I hope!! will US to stomach show up just how much I've over indulged these last few days? I can just imagine: "HOW MANY mince pies, Mrs J.?!!" 😛
Aaw, Kay, sorry to hear things not too good. Hopefully they will resolve shortly for you for the better.
JCJ - leave the crisps, if they are as bad as you made them sound just abandon them straight into the bin.
Have been home alone today. It's been lovely, new book started (Xmas pressie), new jigsaw started (Xmas pressie) and am presently watching some rather rubbish tv. Looking forward to another four days off work and doing whatever I please.
Very, very cold and frosty here, think I will just hibernate.
Aaah Kay, hope things get better for you soon, have been thinking of you.
Oh yukkity, yukkity yuk JCJ am in no way enticed by your crisps! Love tomato crisps a traditionalist haha!
Laughed re your surprise Xmas gift!
Lovely day here too, snow still lying.
Have GD tomorrow and next day so will be on the "childhood" bench trying to think of exciting things to do!!
Woke up at 3.20 am this morning having the biggest hot flush in ages whew sweaty betty or what?? have't missed them one bit.....................xx
Things will get better, Kayteeb. I hope you and yours have a MUCH better 2015. x
I am steadily eating my way through a bowl of crinkly vegetable crisps with rosemary and wild garlic even though they taste vile - like pot pouri - and have gone soggy, just because they are THERE. I think that just about sums up the Sunday after Christmas?? Love, love love "normal" vegetable crisps, especially the parsnip and beetrrot ones, but we only have them at Christmas, because they are expensive. I bought these as well on a 2 for £2 offer. Never again! these all taste the same - not of vegetables: more like something one shouldn't be eating! 😞 )
Right! Time to put the old tele on freecycle to see if I can prevent it going in the tip. I had a baby smart TV for upstairs off OH for Christmas (had to peretend I hadn't seen the box, *not* hidden under the desk in the spare room, every day for 2 weeks before! :p))
Frosty and cold here today but lovely and sunny. 🙂
Christmas Day at my daughters was a lovely day. Really tasty dinner, we broke with tradition and had beef!
I won the Nanny of the year award for getting my 9 year old grandaughter her " best ever present". (Think her parents were a bit miffed.)
Boxing Day at my son's was postponed until today because of the bug, so I've just got back from another lovely day there. Have now also won Mum of the year and Mum-in law of the year too. Definitly a year for the saying " it's better to give than to receive" . They weren't expecting what I gave them and the looks on their faces made my Christmas.
It just keeps on raining here, no seasonal snow at all. Thank goodness.
We haven't got snow......yet.
We had VERY heavy rain before, with flooded roads, so it was touch and go whether I would get up to Scotland for the festivities.
Anyhow back home now with 2 exhausted little dogs, fire lit, washer on, spare bottle of prosecco in the fridge, so having a feets up evening before visitors fetch up tomorrow.
Hope all Benchies have had a lovely time with families and friends galore.
love

Started snowing here this morning!!
Also had a super, duper day, lots of food munched, sweeties gobbled and lovely gifts though think I may be jigsaw'd out for a while haha!
Spent most of Boxing Day sleeping...............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, so tired but happy tired!
Am meeting a friend today so will have to get my wake up head on and trudge throw the snow with my chariot, hope pushing will be easy.............
Had a look on t'internet for bargains and saw NOTHING and can't be bothered fighting through the shops, do you not think tv has been abysmal or is it only me? xx
Snowing here too!
I hope your family were well enough to enjoy today, FF?
We had a lovely day yesterday, lots of food, drink and laughs. ES and YD's OH got on really well, as expected. 🙂
Went for a walk at a nearby water park this afternoon and got cold and wet in the rain! Is was nice to come back to the fire and Christmas food afterwards.
Brilliant news about your sister JCJ. Hope all goes smoothly now. Will cross everything for you on the 29th.
Chocolate fell into my trolley today, don't know where it came from, my favourite too. What are the chances of that?
My youngest grandson spent all last night throwing up. We are waiting to see if it's just him or whether it's a bug that will go round the whole family. This could put the mockers on all our Boxing Day plans. I delivered their presents this evening by handing them over the hedge to my son and beating a hasty retreat!
Merry Christmas to one and all. Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow.
Cake iced - well most of the icing ran off onto the board but we're not that keen on icing anyway so I put white marzipan underneath that doesn't show through! Stuffing made. Giblets simmered for stock. Fresh fruit salad made. Extra milk purchased. That's it. i'm done, apart from putting the pigs in their blankets, when said pigs have defrosted, and sruffing the bird (or not - undecided. Usually do but all advice seems to be to cook it separately!)
I'm a bit ahead of myself because I'm working to usual Christmas Eve timetable and yet we're not having dinner until 6pm tomorrow, as the 'kids' won't get here for usual 1.30 time.
Have a lovely time everyone and a Happy, HEALTHY New Year!! xx
PS arghhh! Phone call from hosp! US scan on Monday 29th! Nearly declined it as stomach OK now, but decided best to go so I'm not worrying next time I have bug! 😐 Wonder what MASSES of turkey looks like on US scan? (Can't eat from midnight the night before tho')
Wonderful news JCJ, what a lovely gift for Xmas, your sister must be over the moon!
Good about your son's gizmo Ali!
Just nipped out superly quickly for my last things....................caught in a torrential downpour, grrrrrrrrrr!
Everything done and dusted as they say.
Had a JCJ moment in the supermarket, 2 enormous caramel doughnuts fell, yes, fell into my basket, so am away to try one!
Wishing you all the merriest, happiest of Xmas's, have a fabulous day girls xx
Just had some REALLY good news from my sister! 🙂 Our brother has been deemed 100% combatible for bone marrow transplant, so it's all systems go. He will have to come up to Birmingham (from Bournemouth!) for a medical and to be given details of treatment/sign the consent forms. Fingers crossed the mediacal doesn't throw up any problems, and that he doesn't change his mind - I'll have words if he does!!
My sister doesn't know whether to laugh or cry (and is horrified that she and EB are identical in ANY way! :p)
I've just got back from the farm shop. Turkey & fresh fruit/veg collected. All Christmas purchasing completed. Presents wrappped. OH despatched to allotment where he left the brandy (*I* bought for christmas cake/Brandy butter - still need it for the latter! ) yesterday. Bribing the volunteers?!
Anything else that we haven't got or can't get from local Spar (other local......),-which is even open 11 am to 1pm Christmas DAY! - we'll do without. Time to do some cleaning. But not too much! 😛
Not going anywhere near faeces: dried, children's, or any other variety!! With my tendency to stomach bugs, can you imagine (no, don't even try to) the horrors of coughing and an upset stomach at the same time??! 😞 May as well just spend Christmas in the bathroom??
It's the "recipe" for you JCJ, obviously it has to be the right one, cause of FF and her Alligalinctus stuff and it not working, just go for it hee hee!!
Have spent ages making and freezing soup, starter for the big day, only Xmas food I have to buy is a lettuce now woo hoo!!!!
GD popped along yesterday and I have not to do the table or anything cause she wants to help, oh dear..........ED's partner is going to get a guitar as a surprise gift sooooooooooooooo we'll be having a sing a long with a non guitar playing beginner, the excitement is just too much hahaha !! bet you wish you were coming to mine?? xx
I'm coughing now too. I suppose it was inevitable, having been surrounded by people with it for the last 2 weeks. 😞
The Alligalinctus has not worked. I'm still coughing! I feel fine in myself though so that's the end of the cold at least.
I am not even going to think of your recipe Katy. Even if the ingredients are readily available (even up the walls.......how?.......why?......who?). I will keep taking the remedy I've got although it's obviously not working either.
Off to bed with me, school tomorrow, got to try and catch up now in the three days before Christmas.
Dried children's faeces shouldn't be hard to come by in your line of work. FF? EW - even *I* wish I hadn't said that!! Perhaps the Alligalinctus WILL work then - especially if we chucked some honey into the lake along with the guilt?
Oh no FF, that's what happens when you can't remember anything?? Were you not one of the wranglers??
All I can say is good job I went for a wander last night, went down by the bombed cave and was brave enough to venture in...............
Oh my rocks everywhere, as I scrambled over said rocks with my head torch, something caught my eye!
Oh my, a secret room................managed to force my way in....................no cobwebs or spiders but a small Apothecary Room filled with potions, elixirs and other wonderful things??
Picked up some jars and checked out the labels, beard wax, moustache oil, I love it here!!
Have just found A Ye Olde Recipe for sore throats, this 'll cure you FF!
"a mixture of dried children’s feces and honey for inflammation of the throat" xx
STAY AWAY FROM THE WELL!! Don't you remember? It's where we wrangled the alligators to when we used the lake for the Benchland Ice Diving extravaganza!! It's probably full of alligator poo!
If it cures your cough, though FF, we might be in for a killing. There's always room in the market for effective cough remedies. Watch out Dragons' Den here we come with our Alligalinctus?!
I'll try it, it might be cough elixir which I could do with. Here goes!
Oh no, it's not cough elixir.....it's......it's...... I don't know what it is. Someone else try it!
What's in the well??? There's a big bucket, maybe elixir??? Who's gonna try it?? xx
Luuurv the dress! 😄
I had another idea:
If you can find a source of supply, some be-a**e-ed-ness would come in handy. Otherwise I'm likely to spend ALL of the next 2weeks on tne CBA bench (when I'm not welded to the FB one??! :p)
Everyone will be wearing fab outfits, sooooooooooooo excited, thrown my hotpants to the side and will now be wearing THAT dress pre Santa outfit xx
Gift ideas (for Santa):
Violently coloured leg/arm warmers (latter can double as Lyn sleeves?)
Tinsel bedecked thwacking ladles
Spoons - of any description - loads of them
FOOD - especially cake
Baubles (or "bull balls" as one of our parents insists on calling them! :)) various sizes - for decorating beards/costumes/hair/earrings etc
DRINK - especially, but not exclusively alcoholhic (spelling intended!)
Flashing red Rudolph noses.
CHOCOLATE - liquid for drinking as well as edible varieties!
Sparklers - for spelling rude words
Fleecy cardigans - we need about 40 each for the donning and removal of
Can't think of anything else at the moment.......Oh yes: lots and lots and lots of NORMAL letters! 🙂
Just a thought, near the end of Carol Panto Party I would like to volunteer my services as Santa!
With my red fluffy face, beard and HUGE tummy, think I am in a strong position.
Please pop gifts in the barrel, near the shed, not any where near the spider sanctuary.
We have had tiaras, knee highs, rhinestones, doc martins, flashing light shoes, any ideas for new gifts?
Aah FF, glad you are on the mend, we just couldn't have a party without your infamous head/body spinning routine xx
Dogs have Carol singing outfits sorted - Meg will be in her new red Mac complete with fluorescent yellow go-faster stripes plus contrasting tinsel, Joey will wear his fleece-lined(due to cut and blow) purple coat with attached baubles. I shall be in big blue waterproof, big boots and the mad Swedish fur hat - so I won't hear anyone singing. In the interests of harmony, I shall mime........
Grumpy
A day behind Ali? Oh I wish I was only a day behind! Thanks to catching the worst cough/cold in the world I think I'm about 10 days behind I have no idea how to catch up. I have even had to have three days off work this week, first days off sick (not counting bc) since 2009. I don't DO off sick! Too many years spent self employed I think. However, feeling halfway human again and it's now the end of term. Yay! I have sneaked away early today (don't tell!) and will make up the time next week.
Thank goodness for internet shopping I say. Everybody has at least one pressie to open and vouchers will sort the rest.
Have looked out my outfit for the carol singing. Very fetching catsuit in green velvet with red brocade and orange satin. (Who muttered "Dog's dinner? I heard you!).
Cannot possibly alligator wrangle, just do not have the energy!
Oh my JCJ you are truly "going all out", your outfit sounds STUNNING, am well impressed!
No gingerbread houses here, tried last year with GD, just lets say it turned out a little wobbly!
Tiredness still an issue with me too, put it down to other ailments but what JCJ is saying makes sense. Since I had my flu jab have had an afternoon nap the last two days?? So body fighting etc could well be right.
After being a "smartypants" have forgotten a present soooooooooooooo will have to go and find something tout suite, will sing the carols as I go xx
You on Tapoyfen, Ali? One of the SEs of that is tiredness. I still get ridiculously tired sometimes - total and utter exhaustion, like during rads, for no apparent reason. Maybe our compromised immune systems have to work harder to fight off the plethora of bugs that are about at the moment? Have some cake, that'll help. 🙂
ALLIBURGERS! I forgot about the alliburgers! No wonder those alligators are looking anxious......and I thought it was dread of my singing!! Or worry that FF will start alligator wrangling again?!
Pizza, quiche, dips and crisps. Humungous cheese board and crusty bread. Black forest gateau and hot mince pies laced with brandy butter. I shall be wearing my purple lurex onesie with rhinestone bedecked Doc Martins, knee highs, tiara and fake fur stole. Lovely. I have my best non-singing voice all warmed up ready and the alligators are looking anxious.
One more get up to do. Christmas parties at school tomorrow - the final hurdle before blessed peace! One of the kids gave me a beautiful gingerbread 3D Christmas tree he'd made with his mum. It's decorated with Smarties and Jelly tots! 🙂
Bread and butter, tins of pineapple, tins of sardines, chocolate, potted meat, biscuits, marmalade and lashings and lashings of ginger beer......................oh no am in the wrong place..............midnight feast.........no should be in The Carol Panto Party!
Gosh you are hoping for a miracle that I will be able to remember all your tunes JCJ haha!!
Will be wearing my lilac crimpolene hot pants and my flashing light shoes.
Did manage to go into town yesterday and couldn't believe my eyes, "Joe the camel" appearing here soon??? WHAT???? Who's Joe???? xx
Found the knee highs from MMU.
Tiara went to school play so I'll not see that again.....
Can we have mince pies? And hot choc with brandy? And jacket spuds with butter, chives and smoked salmon? And maybe some stollen? Mini Yorkshirewith beef and horseradish cream?
Who's making the cakes?
Now you know why I get fat at Christmas!!!!
Excited grumpy
Last year??? Year before???? I've no idea. Time is disappearing as fast as my marbles it seems?!
As promised: Some Carols resurrected from last year. I've just spent TWO HOURS looking back through the thread to find them. Kept getting hooked into reading the posts! 🙂 Woosh! we've been through a lot together!!
"O Little Town Of Benchland"
O little town of Benchland
How silly we can be
All thru the long and sleepless night:
Still up at half past three!
Yet in the dark woods shineth
The ever-lasting light
The hopes and fears and virtual beers
Are shared by us tonight.
Silent Night (AKA Icy Tonight)
Icy tonight, hold on tight
All those camels, glittering bright
Rounded Mummy sat on donkey
Three wise wimin with skates all wonky
Sheep in layers of fleece
Sheep in layers of fleece
Icy tonight, hold on tight
Shepherds quake due to fright
Spider hoves in from shed afar
Bloody Nora! It's gone down my bra
Christ! It's cold in Benchland
Christ! It's cold in Benchland
Icy tonight, hold on tight
Soldiers dance in the night
Fleeces strewn all over the place
And some hot and reddening face
Having such fun and mirth
Having such fun and mirth
Some Hay in a Manger
Some hay in a manger, a doll in it's bed
A massive black spider is guarding the shed
The stars in the bright sky shine down on us today
As we all perform in the Benchland panto-play
The camels are skating on the new Benchland rink
We've all lost our marbles, so our Other Halves think.
I love all the dog sheep, cats, camels and goats
And the soldiers all dancing: on, off with their coats.
Be kind to us oh BC, we beg you to go
Leave us forever, as we play in the snow
Bless all the dear wimin and man in our play
And fill us with laughter throughout the long day
This one needs some adjustment for 2014 as we're not doing a panto-play......OR ARE WE?? 😄
Oh deary me, checked all the cupboards and THERE'S NO FROCK!!!!! I must have returned it to Dame Helen. Trip to House of O#fam tomorrow....
And the telly just went funny.....more expense!
Can I come Carol singing in me big Mac and me big boots?
Love to all
Grumpy
Joey wants to come to the carol singing - he's in the grooming van as we speak, having his cut and blow to look smart for Christmas. Meg is frantic because she thinks someone may hurt him!!!
And then it's my turn at the hairdresser.
Yep I went a bit funny after my flu jab, apparently it's a strong vaccine this year, and I had itchy skin for a few days.Hypercal cream is good - callendula and hypericum - from the chemist that sounds like shoes. Very soothing.
grumpy
Count me in!!
Oooooooooooh is it the "silent" choir??
Am soooooooo excited tiara and knee highs are already donned! They match my jammies perfectly!!
Welcome CassieB, yep ofcourse you can join in! If you have a singing voice you will have a strong advantage and may have a leading role in JCJ's choir extravaganza!
Too exciting for words, tra la la la la................
Had my first Xmas Lunch, really lovely meal, yum yum, even sampled a glass of the house wine, well you have to join in! Next one tomorrow, will be on the "reinforced fat b**" bench very soon!
Had a phone call from docs and had my flu jab yesterday, woke up at 4 this morning having a nightmare, jeez, I hardly EVER remember dreams never mind nightmares.......................have a little nausea this morning, never had any side effects before, anyone else??
Have to hit the town today, grrrrrrrrrr, might go down later, when hopefully it will be a lot quieter xx
On the kn*****ed bench in my nightie and dressing gown with a mugatea. Looooong day. Been at school from 8.20am to 7.15pm. Thank goodness not all days are this long!!! Evening performance of our Christmas play.
It made me think we should dust off our carols from last year and have a sing song. Tomorrow, if I have the energy, I'll hand out some song sheets and we can gather around the tree, by the Lake of Guilt, that the spiders are currently decorating with their silvery webs. Tiaras and knee highs compulsory, of course, but the rest of the dress code is as you wish. Yes, grumpy, you can wear THE gown. Hot mince pies, mulled wine and lashings of tea will be available. Who's going to join me?
Oh so pretty your italics JCJ, good/bad news that kids have the "bug" too, fingers crossed no more bugs or anything else.
Am on the "grrrrrrrrrrrrrr" bench spent ages sorting out jigsaw pieces have just dropped the whole lot on the floor! Can't believe it, grrrrrrrrrrr!!
Away to pick them up then nip over to supermarket for a couple of things.
ED, partner and the bump left around an hour ago, ED growing bigger by the day, she is a wee thing so bump looks enormous xx
very wise to stay off the ice, Katy!
Back at school today. Stomach pains stopped. Don't feel sick. Greatly relieved to find that the kids are dropping like flies with the stomach bug, some of whom have also had it 4 times now, so it's not just me!! :). It looks like Tapoxyfen and/or REACT meds have sensitised my stomach to such an extent that I've gone from never succumbing to bugs to being the FIRST to get them!! 😞
I shall still follow up blood tests and go for my US, though so that next time I'm ill I won't make matters worse by worrying about mets!!
Going to put my tree and decs up tonight when I've been to the chippy for my tea. I think I can manage a small portion! 🙂
Oops! Seem to have hit I button and typed the whole lot on itallics. CBA to sort it so you'll all have to turn your heads sideways?! 🙂
