Hi Kerenza

Sorry you are in so much pain. Hope the hospital can get it sorted. Least you will know on Tuesday what they intend to do about it.

Just wondering did the hospital do a CT scan and bone scan when you were first diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago?

Good luck for Tuesday.

Linda

Hi Lyndloo and others in forum

no  did not have CT scan performed nor bone scan at initial diagnosis 4 years ago.  I did not have lymph node involvement.  I had surgery x2, chemo, radio and on Tamoxifen.

Today I underwent 6th session of radiotherapy plus I had PET results given.  PET shows no other lesions.  Only lesion is that On T-9 which is been targeted with Radiotherapy.  Firstly radiotherapy to release spinal compression and then to eradicate.  As pleased as I can be with PET results I am concerned that radiotherapy will no eradicate lesion completely.  I will be seeing Radio Oncologist on Wednesday and will be asking him loads of questions.

Hi Linda

I seem to be scanned every 3-4 months at the moment, usually MRI with gadolinium of the liver and sometimes a CT to look at the bones as well. next one Feb/March. Thanks for the tip re Insure With travel insurance - I rang them this afternoon with a hypothetical quote for 3 weeks in Indonesia, fully expecting to be turned down as I have by one company yesterday, to be told yes they can insure me! And with excellent medical/repatriation cover for £220!!! I was absolutely gobsmacked, I thought it would be at least £1k. Need to get planning now.

Take care, Helen x

Hi Helen44,

Your post is so inspiring and gives me hope. I've had bone mets for 7 years but multiple liver mets found 5 mths ago, some of which are responding to treatment and others that aren't.  Due another CT next week to see the if any further progression, then possible chemo.

Reading your story makes me believe there may be a few more options that can work for a few more years, to keep me able to nag the kids to do their homework for a while longer!

Long may you continue to bring positivity to us!

Hi Helen

I am only on Letrozole at the moment.  Had it way back in 2010 till 2014. Just had CT scan last Friday so waiting for results . Yes we have had similar treatments. Hope you get to see your daughter in Indonesia. When I went to Cyprus in June I used Insure With . I only paid £50 for the fortnight.

If you don't mind me asking when are you due your next scan?

Hi Linda

How are you doing at the moment? Hope you're ok, please remind me which treatment you are currently on. We've done a few at the same time!

Capecitabine appears to be doing some good - been on it since last June. Thankfully I am tolerating it pretty well and onc has even agreed to me visiting my daughter & grandson in Indonesia which I am very excited about! Just need to find some 'affordable ' travel insurance!

Take care of yourself,

I assume you were replying to my post not Helen.

I felt exactly like you to be told you have breast cancer was bad enough then before I started chemo I was told I had bone mets I nearly fainted. Do you know what treatment you are going to be on?

There is a bone mets place on this forum called please join in. You will find there are quite a few people in the same boat .

Dear Linda

All i know is i am starting radio tomorrow to release stenosing medulla and aliviate pain and PET scan the following day. After that I will await MDT management plan.

Last night, for a few hours i was hopeful, i even slept well as new pain relief works much better, however, this morning i have woken up crying on my husband's chest asking God that he will heal me.

My name I sent Kerenza.  I have not been able to change my access number to my name.  I have no idea of what plan will be.  I was only told on Friday.  Tomorrow I will be going to hospital and ask about Tuesday’s appointment.  I work there so I know exactly where to go.  A few weeks ago was my 4th year of having completed treatment.  I am now in pain as the mets is pressing against a nerve, cannot sit for very long and only thing that alleviates pain in lying down.

I am very scared.

Re: 7 year cancerversary today

Your post has encouraged me.  This Christmas has been so hard for me.  Was given the news 2 days ago that I have mets in 1 of my vertebrae T-9.  I am awaiting PET Ct and bone scan.  CT scan performed 8 weeks ago and was clear.  I am devastated.  In a dark place.  All I think is that I have little to live.  Were you the same when diagnosed?

Congratulations for being 7 years since Secondary breast cancer.  How you finding Cape? I was on it for 10 months back in 2017-2018. It did work but unfortunately not for that long. I am only 2 years down the line with liver mets but over 10 years with bone and liver mets .

7 year cancerversary today

Hi

Just wanted to give some hope to any newbies; today I am 7 years with de novo SBC bones & liver. Christmas 2012 was definitely one to forget but I am thankful to still be here! Had plenty of ups and downs along the way but after 3 hormone therapies, 2 targeted therapies, and 5 chemos I am pretty stable on capecitabine at the moment. A lot has happened in the 7 years - 3 grandchildren born, my 50th Birthday, completed 2 degrees, early retirement and plenty of travelling. All things I didn't expect to see or do when first diagnosed. I want to thank the lovely ladies on this forum, particularly those in our Hampshire meet up group, for the invaluable support you give.

My advice, I suppose, would be to try & live as well as you can. Yes there will always be bad days (scan results day usually) but enjoy precious time with the people that mean the most to you and they will make the bad into good days.

I hope that you all have a peaceful Christmas and 2020 is kind to you.

Helen x
