Helen, sending you huge hugs for today. Hope everything goes ok. Put your foot down about pain meds. You need something to help you manage your daily tasks - let's hope also though that this chemo also helps with the pain and has an immediate effect. Dc and gc are dying to come with you but I've kept them here for now. They'll be up tomorrow to bed bath you!!!!!!!
Morning everyone else - lovely day here in London. I'm off for treatment and whilst hooked up going to get some work done. Otherwise it's just dead time sitting there. Good luck anyone else with scans/treatments/results.
Huge hugs everyone

Hi Helen,

Wishing you well today. It is always scary starting a new chemo. I think it is fear of the unknown! I'm sure you will cope well with it and that it will work really well.

Hope they can get your pain under control too. You have suffered too long. Maybe they can refer you to a pain management team.

Thinking of you. Lots of love Sheila. Xxx

Hi everyone.. Hope you're all as well as you can be.
Will be thinking of you today Helen.....my GP has always been good regarding pain, he referred my friend to a local hospice and they were wonderful with her ... Sorted out her pain and she now drops in there every once in a while, she was referred over a year ago and they liase with the GP about her meds. The ONCS always refer us back to GP about painkillers. I have noticed a "pain management clinic" sign at the hospital though.....near the place where I have my Zometa....don't know jf there is one at most hospitals .. May be worth asking..

Good luck today Helen, hope the SEs are manageable and everything goes to plan. I expect you will be exhausted at the end of the day as it always takes a while to get used to the new chemo regimes we have to go on so look after yourself and rest up. I hope whilst there you can talk to someone about pain management so you are more comfortable.
Take care
Nicky x
Ps Hi to all other mets ladies I hope you are coping OK with all that this throws at us and enjoying anything that makes you happy 🙂

Good morning lovely ladies, how are we all doing.
well I'm off to start my next chem, absolutely terrified. 😣😣
We are going to ask about some pain management as pain is getting so bad now. Hopefully someone will help. It got so bad when we were away I'd have taken whole packet of pain meds if I had them with me as couldn't get on top of it 😭😭
Haven't read through all of messages on forum as ipad playing up.

Good afternoon everyone
Chocolates, I slept slightly better last night so hoping it continues to improve. Keep napping in the afternoon but trying not to today to see if that helps, otherwise Prosecco's looking like a good option!
Kaye, hoping you get rid of your cold soon, at least you're able to nag - always a good sign!
Bev, shopping sounds great as does your weekend.
Springsummer, great news about the scan, hoping for good things from the trial for you.
Nicky, Florence sounds lovely, have a fab time.
Helen, hope you enjoyed your trip to Chester especially the zoo. Not sure if anyone's going to give you your husbands back though since you shared them!
Hope I've not missed anyone out and that you're all having a good day.

Hi ladies
Hope we are all keeping well and not too anxious about scan results etc. Kaye, sorry to hear you are suffering with a bad cold, they seem to be hanging around this year and it doesn't help having a lowered immune system. Helen(44) good luck with the scan when you have it, or more importantly the results! Hope you get over the side effects of Tax and don't have to have any more. Have messaged you also on the MeetUps thread.
Lynne, sounds like a fab trip I'm sure you thoroughly deserve it and you enjoy it to the max, including a drink or two if you want - I know I would! We're also on a short trip soon to Florence, can't wait as OH and I haven't had a break since last May and then starting IV chemo in August. I think we both need it!
Hi to everyone I've missed, I hope treatments are being kind to you but mega nasty to the little uggers.

Re: Bone mets - please join in

Morning ladies
Lynn, i take one 500mg twice a day with para's in between, i have found them fine and they keep my pain at bay, i work in a pharmacy and my boss (pharmacist) told me naproxen are a better option than ibuprofen. My back pain is a mystery???? Some days its totally fine other days it "plays me up" there dosen't seem to be any pattern to it, i see my onc for TM results 12th March and am bracing myself to be told they have risen again 😞
Off to work now, cut my hours to just 2 days and loving it, its just enough to keep me sane 🙂

Lynne - can't help with meds but wanted to wish you a wonderful holiday. Sounds fantastic. I hope you do manage a drink or two!!!
Helen, as LD says docetaxol seems to work well so fingers crossed for you that your results are positive news.

Helen, you must be so relieved to have finished Docetaxol. It usually works very well so hopefully your scan will show great results and you can carry on with treatment which is kinder to you.
Natalie, your mention of drinks at the weekend has made me wonder if I'll end up resorting to a strong drink to help me sleep tonight!

I remember reading Janette that you were having increased back pain...how is it going?
Do you find the naproxin helps? How many do you take on average each day?
Sorry for all of the questions.

Hello everyone, very quiet on here at the moment.

Just Wondering if any of you ladies are on Naproxen. My GP has changed me from Ibrufin to this, I also take paracetamol. We are going on our holiday next Monday....touring the Deep South in the USA. Husband is driving and it's just the two of us so we can take it as easy as we want...
I am not a big drinker but like wine with a meal sometimes and the odd cocktail especially on holiday. Can I drink whilst on Naproxin......forgot to ask the GP.....any of you ladies who use it and enjoy a drink.

Hope that you're all as well as you can be and that the dreary weather isn't too bad....very windy here today in Yorkshire...

Helen, I'm glad to hear you have got CDF approval, or will have, for Eribulin. Enjoy your week away in Chester and regenerate your batteries ready for Friday when you start.  I hope you do get your pain sorted and are able to speak with one of the nurses whilst you are in the chemo ward I'm sure someone there will be able to help.

Take care everyone and I hope all appointments, results, scans, treatments etc go well.

Desi, I have an itch which could be due to denusanab. Not sure but I think it may be causing my runny eyes too. Am still waiting for scan of head to make sure it isn't something more sinister but onc doesn't think it is.

Hope you are soon feeling much better.

Helen, I'm far from "wild" these days! Did have a nice evening though. First night out for ages. Did have pudding AND a couple of gin and tonics.

Hope your pain gets sorted soon and you start to feel better.

Hoping everyone else is coping and not feeling too bad.

Desi - so sorry to hear you've been unwell. I itch just on one arm only - onc said see gp and get some steroid cream. So far not really helped but is slightly easier. I'm not a liver mets girl but do have denansomab which could be the link for us all. Hope you get it sorted quickly and pain settles down. You deserve a break Desi - it's been one thing after another recently for you. Sending you huge hugs xxxx

Re: Bone mets - please join in

Hello ladies I'm home from hospital got called in for urgent rads on Friday. Rads went well but seem to have upset something whilst brushing my teeth of all things and went from having much better nights sleep to being in a lot of pain around my ribs. I think it's refered from by back but did also end up vomiting Friday night.
Also wanted to ask if anyone has had itchy skin related to liver mets? Still awaiting results of ct scan but read about this recently and I have been quite itchy over last few days. Thanks
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Xxx

Billben - don't want to dampen your spirit but they won't clean the windows - they'll just look at themselves in them!! However, they have to be clean to look in them so worth a go I suppose.

Pleeeeease can I have the boys to clean my windows next. They are so dirty I soon won't be able to see out! I'd love someone to make me cakes to but trip to hospital last week showed I'd put on about 4lbs not good. I do feel righteous as I have just cleaned the fridge out now about to takle the parrot who has just thrown all her food over the floor. Hope everyone has a good weekend.xxx

Re: Bone mets - please join in

Lol Bev and Helen. Don't send them to me - I have a house full of teenagers and don't want further chaos. I'll take them next week though - have bought new aprons - wait till you see them!!!

Helen, hope ur night was slightly better. I'm just so astonished that they are not helping you with some pain meds. That's made me so cross. Some rads might be effective as Belinda said so please ask about it. Hope you manage to enjoy your time away - perhaps a strong whiskey might be useful as pain relief if nothing else is working!!!! I'll get the boys cracking on some medicinal tonics when they're here next week ready for you to try out at the weekend.
Hope everyone else manages a decent weekend. Weather not too bad but it's turned colder. Heating on - oh unhappy but I really feel the cold now so it's got to be on.
Anyone any news from faraway?

Re: Bone mets - please join in

Morning everyone. Beautiful day...actually looks like Spring!
Mermaid. .i would def give some thought to the QE. I always think having a centre or hospital nearer home helps a lot with travelling especially if there are days when you dont feel up to travelling very far.
I have family in that area and have heard good reports about it...but its a big decision on the other hand changing oncologist. But whoever you see they will ensure you have the best treatment.
Helen...i hope youre getting on top of the pain relief!
Personally i had little or no effect from the oramorph when they prescribed it in small doses for my breathlessness. And now theyve got it under control with asthma meds Ive stopped taking it altogether and still feel well.
Now....about these hubbies...I'm concerned that ive bitten off more than i can chew! I think I'm running out of tasks for Messrs C and C! I have them cleaning windows today as the sun's out and am compiling a list of other chores...we really must make sure they dont get too lazy! Was thinking of taking ideas from Great British Bake Off and getting them to run up some nice cakes and pies for me.....its the sight of them in those aprons! Haha 😉?😉
Well i suppose its time to get up. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Love bev xxxxx
