If it’s a big extraction ask for a stitch. Use tea tree toothpaste to keep mouth and teeth clean, and a teaspoon of high quality Manuka honey for infections. Your dentist will wear a mask, but pre warn the receptionist and check no one has colds. Ask for a seat away from everyone in the waiting room if it will make you feel more secure. Carry your hand sanitiser with you, and as an extra precaution you can always use a scarf across your mouth. X
Hi Annie thanks didn’t realise treatment could effect my teeth .Am hoping I can get away with just a filling. Am worried about infection, so want to avoid extraction.Xx
Hi Hannah, I think it’s really important to get your teeth checked while on Letrozole as it does cause dental issues. As Palbo usually goes hand in hand with that then I can understand your worries re healing and catching infections. My Onco just recommended telling my dentist about the drugs. However, he did say that root canal work was something to be careful of. Drilling into the bone is an issue so would need to come off the drug the same with any ops. Tooth extraction could need a stitch as healing may be slow. Full of mights, maybes and probably!! I’ve had one tooth capped and two fillings replaced so far and that was ok. My dentist is a new practitioner and very au fait with these two drugs. He is diligent about checking and cleaning teeth and keeps me supplied with bits and pieces he hopes will help. I’ve had two fillings just crumble out as my teeth on one side are now so soft. No probs re the time of the cycle ..,,, so far. Hope this helps reassure you a bit. X
Hi Gina thanks for reply am seeing oncologist Thursday, so was going to try and hang on until then .So annoying , with everything else going on .Never mind hopefully will get treated Friday x
Please go. Are you on Zometa/Densumab as bone strengtheners. Because they can give you tooth ache, but this also especially important because of bone/tooth health.
Let your dentist know if your diagnosis and treatment plan. I was on Ribociclib.
Also, do you have your latest blood results.
Also let your Onc know.
In a lot of pain with toothache, worried about getting treatment, and infection.Do I wait until I am on week break .Not sure what to do xx
