Fingers crossed for you Nicky. I am in the same situation actually. I wait to hear for my PeT/MRI on thursday eve. I really really hope I won't be wreck by awful news so I can make it. I was so much looking forward to it but once again test/treatments etc stop mefroma "normal" life... Quite in a difficult place at the moment but try to stay positive (as much as I can)

Hi ladies, still hoping to join you on Friday but have onc appointment in the morning, with results from CT scan, yikes. Depending on those OH and I may chose to spend the afternoon together, either if they are good or bad. I'll try and post to say if I'm coming or not so you all know how many we'll be. However if I can't make it I am keen to meet up for the next one and will fit in with place and time.

Dear ladies, i'm in salisbury and am not sure that i wd be able to get to hedge end that afternoon as partner will have car at work but i hope you all have a great time and gain a lot from one another.
I will be posting on various threads about some upcoming news re my treatment:
I am starting perjeta alongside herceptin and taxol next week. Other than those women on trials i have been told that i am only the 2nd person in the uk to get this - funded by the cancer drugs fund. My onc told me that the other woman is from Winchester - pls, pls, pls if anyone comes across the 'lucky' no. 1 pls can they highlight my profile to that person as i wd love to get in touch.

I really don't mind travelling to any venue south of me, I'm at the top of Hampshire by the way. Am very used to going to Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth so, as I'm probably furthest away, it is easier for me to do the travelling. It's a nice drive out anyway 🙂
Hope to be there on 26th but if I'm not I will wait to hear of the next venue/date.

so pleased that you can make this date Kirsti. Nicky I hope you are able to. I will PM postcode and some directions - it is really eay to find.
Nicky it sounds like you are a bit of a distance so might I make a suggestion - to ensure that one person is not constantly having to do the mileage or miss due to hospital days ... would you like to chose the venue for our next meet-up. I am confident that there will be more. Also a date - maybe a month after this one? We can take turns. - Does this make sense - I sometimes doubt my brain function at the moment!!!
As Liz has said it is great chatting to someone in a relaxed way knowing they understand where you are coming from.
Hope to meet more of you. Remember if you cannot do this time watch this space.

I think that Friday PM at the M&S in Hedgeend looks possible for most so I am suggesting the following date
Friday the 26/4/13 from 2.30pm until we want to go. i know it seems a long time ahead but this gives time to plan also more selfishly I seem to be booked up with hospital appointments an a bit of extra work (an act of madness I know). Time will fly.
If this is tricky for some perhaps we could consider meeeting at a different venue/ day next time. Thoughts welcome.

Friday is good for me as I am a lady of leisure, not through choice though! Even though I can't drive any more due to brain mets I do have my bus pass! Yippee! Can probably get to Winchester if that is suitable for everyone but if M&S at H/E is a goer then that would be great as I can walk there.
Have enjoyed meeting Jacqui and it is great being able to talk to someone who understands your feelings. Hope we can arrange a meeting soon.

Sorry to be so slow getting back. I have met with NannieSpiky a couple of times at Hedgeend M&S - this is easy to find. I am not sure if she is up for driving to Winch at the moment but would be happy to meet others for an initial session in Winch. So now we need to sort out a date? I asm free on Fridays - but I must confess my free days are rapidly getting booked up. Or there is always the weekend. Or possibly the evening
So shall we list a few dates and see what fits in the majority. The Cathedral Refectory msy work as a venue daytime or the Blackboy evening..

Thanks for that info. It may be that one or two of us already go to that organised session but I think we (secondary) ladies are looking to meet up locally with others from this forum who are in the same boat so to speak. There are several such informal groups already meeting at different places around the country but so far I don't think there's been one set up in this area for secondary ladies, we will see. If the Winchester meeting you went to has quite a few secondary ladies already attending maybe it's something we could look at as it's fairly central - going on the replies that Jacqui has had so far.

Oooh, I just went to a breast cancer support group in Winchester last week! It was my first time there and the ladies are lovely. They meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 7.30pm-9.30pm at The Simeon Room, Christchurch, Christchurch Road, Winchester. They are in the middle of re-launching the group so I found it a great opportunity to suggest ideas and offer whatever little skills I have. There is a 50p contribution for tea/coffee and biscuits.

The breast care nurse from Winchester was there. The group is linked with the breast care unit in Winchester.

Do send me a message if you're interested (this is only my second post so apologies in advance. I'm still finding my way around)
