Re: 22 years later ....

oh dear, just realised i posted this as '22 years later'!! obviously should have been 2years! hey ho, maybe in 20years i'll post again - here's hoping! please feel free to message me any questions - i'm not in any way an expert in breast cancer but i'm more than happy to share my experiences. i found it really helpful using sites like this when i was going through treatment, it reassured me i wasn't alone 🙂
i don't know what's changed for me recently, but i really feel like i'm starting to put cancer behind me - this time last year i didn't think i'd ever say that as it was all i thought about. the fear of recurrance will never go away for any of us i suppose, but it really does get easier, i promise. xxx

Re: 22 years later ....

Sal thanks for posting. At times it feels like the treatment is endless.
Had a bad week last week when I was told I may need two extra chemo sessions but Ive accepted it now.
Thanks for the positive story. X

22 years later ....

just wanted to post on this site to give some encouragement to those currently in the fog of diagnosis/treatment as i've been a bit of a 'lurker' for ages!
i was diagnosed with grade 3, er+/pr+, her2- in dec 2008 while 32 years old and 22wks pregnant. i had a lumpectomy and 4 nodes removed (1 had a micromet). i had 3 chemo's before a planned c-section at 34wks and a further 3 after, followed by 6wks of radiotherapy. i currently take tamoxifen. my 'baby' turns 2 this week and is happy, healthy and totally unaffected by the treatment i had while pregnant. i just want to let anyone in the same situation know that the nightmare you're facing IS DOABLE!! you'll find reserves of strength that you never knew you had and i can honestly say that chemo wasn't as horrific as i'd imagined. i've also got a 6yr old daughter and she took everthing in her stride, we had a lot of fun playing with wigs and painting my head! i'm now nearly 2yrs out of treatment and life is pretty much back to normal. my hair is at my shoulders and my energy levels are the same as they were prior to cancer :)YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
