Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Hi dreamofpink, Im at the pruh in Bromley. It has a really good reputation for breast care. I hope your results are good. Dont worry too much as the Gp might be sending you to hospital as a precaution. It takes 2 weeks from referral to appointment. then 1 week for results. I got my results on the day - but waited 1 week for the confirmation. Take care and think positive.

By the way - you can ask to be referred to Guys!!!

Dear Gutted

I am so sorry to hear of your Prostate Cancer, and can't begin to imagine how it must feel for a man to be worrying about breast cancer. I don't know whether you have noticed that there is a thread especially for men, here is the link:
http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/community/forums/talk-others-similar-situation/men-diagnosed-brea...
although you are always welcome on the other threads too. I hope you find some comfort on here, and a way to cope. Wishing you good luck with whatever your lump may turn out to be.

Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

I am very worried about the lump under my nipple. It was discovered by a dermatologist who seemed quite concerned and referred me to a breast surgeon. I have not long been treated for Prostate cancer. Trying to put a brave face on things but it is easier said than done. Very few people knew I had prostate cancer and virtually nobody knows about my current worries, it is so embarrassing for a man to be worrying about this form of cancer. Not sure how to cope!

Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I saw the specialist today and he says I'm totally fine and normal so just shows that I was worrying for nothing. I hope you all get good results too. He says hormonal changes and pain is normal and that's what I have. Phew.
I thought the staff at Guy's Hospital in London Bridge were incredible. So friendly, chatty, reassuring. Couldn't be better.

Lazybird999 fingers crossed for you, I hope you get a good result too.

Best wishes everyone. xxx

Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Hi,
im in the same boat as you, the waiting game....
i saw my GP on Friday and the look on her face said it all. I've got changes in one breast sand had lumo which has now gone... It had been there for around two years. She thought she could still feel something but it felt differealso She also found another lump in my other breast which is more noticeable. I'm getting constant tingling, pains and a strange sensation, similar to what I used to experience when I was breast feeding.
i am not sure when my appointment will be but am hoping soon. I am due to work most of the week so not quite sure how I will get out of it yet, although that's the least of my worries.
The worrying is horrible but tin un knowing is the worst.
Good luck and fingers crossed we will be ok.

Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Thanks so much for the replies everyone, it's really kind of you. I don't which hospital I'll be referred to, maybe Lewisham? But I hope it'll be soon. I'm feeling exhausted and keep crying. I know it's not just this but it's just added to other stress I have.

I feel like I can't talk to anyone because I don't know if it is anything yet and I don't wanna make people worry and then it be nothing 😕 but I do want to talk so maybe I'll call the helpline?
Really pleased to hear people in London saying they got fast appt, I was worried it be slower than other places. No word from GP yet so just waiting still and trying not to worry. I've been looking at fibrocystic condition and wonder if it's that? Could it be that?

I don't feel ill so would I feel ill if I had cancer?

Thanks sorry for all the questions xx

Hello pet,you are in the worst place worrying yourself frantic BUT also in the best place to get support and accurat information. You should get a clinic appt within two weeks of GP referral. Th clinic will do mammogram, maybe scan and biopsy, and results are quick, maybe the same day, so take somone with you if you can. That is helpful cos someone write everything down so you can read it all at home.
Please remember that clinics want to find out what you have got, and 90% do not have cancer, so do not assume that your GP thinks you have cancer.
If you o have cancer this site is the best place to be
Every best wish

Hiya
Completely understandable to be scared and worried but until you have your checks you can't assume anything. I liive in greater london and after I went to gp re lump I hadmammogram and biopsy a week later, results about a week after that although they did say it was highly suspicious and about 80 percent likely to be cancer. I think you have to be seen within two weeks if it's suspectedBC.
It was bc for me and I'm now having chemo and I'm okay with it all and ready to fight but the worst part was the waiting and not knowing.
Be brave and good luck;)

Dear dreamofpink

Welcome to the BCC Forum. You may find our publication "Your breast clinic appointment" helpful. Here is the link:

It might also help to talk things over with one of our Helpliners. They can offer you information and support. The opening times are 9-5 on weekdays and 10-2 on Saturdays. The number is 0808 800 6000 and calls are free and confidential.

Very best wishes

Re: 27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Hi, it is scary but try not to fret (easier said than done i know). Do you know which hospital you've been refered to? my appt was at the Marsden the week after i'd been to the docs. I was there about 3 hours, they had a good feel about and then did a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy, I got results a week later, although they did say at the first appt that they thought it was likely to be cancer (not sure if this always happens!) Hope this helps and fingers crossed for you xx

27 years old, referred to breast clinic, scared :(

Hi everyone

I am 27 and have no history of breast cancer in my family. I went to the GP yesterday as my boobs have felt really heavy recently, almost thicker and lumpy, though I don’t have a lump. Last year I had milk-like liquid from my nipples and went to GP and she thought it was nothing to worry about. It was just after I started mini-pill and she thought was hormonal? My new GP has referred me to the breast clinic and I felt ok at the time thinking it’s just a precaution but I suddenly feel so anxious and scared.

Can anyone tell me how long I’ll have to wait to get an appointment (I’m in London)?
And then how long do I have to wait for results?
Will they do a mammogram?
Will whatever tests they do definitely show if there’s anything wrong or will I need more tests?

I’m feeling really scared. Thanks everyone and lots of love to you all going through this.
