Just to let people know, I came out of hospital yesterday having had a mx on my ‘good’ side on Thurs and feel fine.
I have had bone mets since original diagnosis in July 07, the mx on my other side was done 4 yrs ago after chemo and I had felt unbalanced ever since. Finally got round to asking surgeon if he would consider surgery in spite of bone mets and he agreed as I am more or less stable apart from the odd blip. He has done a fantastic job again and I can now plan some trips away and getting on with enjoying things. I am chuffed to bits and so grateful my surgeon was willing to do the op and my onc was happy for me to have it too.
Hope this may help others with mets to know that surgery can be possible on a prophylatic basis.
