A Weighty Problem?

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Hello Lottie,
I have thought about that diet, which is one recommended by the nutritionists at University Hospital South Manchester's Nightingale Breast Cancer Prevention centre. I can never figure out which two days... and I fear I would not be able to keep it up. But, I agree, Lottie that I've got to do something to shift this cursed weight.
I've been a bit up and down this week with the eating (more up than down, too), and fear that when I get on the scale for tomorrows official weigh in it will be grim. I may need to come over to yours, Cherub.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Im off to a party tonight, first one since active treatment finished in september, I feel able to face the world properly as I now have hair all be it white !! eyelashes and sort of brows but 2 out of 3 aint bad !! So tomorrows weigh in is going to br horrendous as the party is greek themed and there will be food a plenty , Now I just wanted to share a tip I read in yesterdays paper, if you want to lose weight and keep it off the plan is to fast for 2 days a week, you can have 500 calories only but there are soups and veg etc that you can have 3 times a day that keep you full on it, well its got to be worth a try as the other days you eat what you want in moderation and apparently it works , so thats the one for me then and I will start monday , good luck for tomorrow ladies I soooo cant wait to weigh myself after this week NOT .....

x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Woo - hoo, weighed myself this morning and I was 11st 13 1/2lb - so I'm now officially under the 12 st mark I've been struggling with. Just hope I can keep going in the right direction - but am having a night off tonight and indulging in some crisps and choccy as I allow myself one flexible day a week. It's how I manage to stick to the diet!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

I need no encouragement nannabarb lol !!! Chinese was lovely No nom x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Mmmm a Bailey's lover.... You should pop along to the JM in the Dark Dark Woods thread Lottie...

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Right, ladies - we're all meeting up in Cherub's bedroom for our next Sunday weigh-in.
See you all there

Re: A Weighty Problem?

I had a funny thing happen with my scales last week. I normally weigh myself in the office but there were no carpet tiles down in there as we were decorating and getting a new desk. I took the scales into the bedrrom where I have quite thick wool carpet and lo and behold when I stepped on the reading was 10st 4 instead of 12st.

Maybe I should just weigh myself on the bedroom carpet at all times, it made me feel very skinny and sexy

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Oh Ladies ..... this is so not going to be a good week , last night I had 2 lovely glasses of Baileys with ice yummy yum yum and then half a box of quality street , TONIGHT I am out with a friend to get nails done and we have decided to go for a chinese after , I sooo need some will power , I think im destined to look like an Oompah loompah for the forseeable !!!!!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

I gained 3 lbs on holiday in Malta recently, but I've managed to lose it over the last 2 weeks. I'm trying to get another 4 or 5 lbs off before Christmas but it's not shifting.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Only a little 1/2 pound loss this week but off not on so at least I am heading in the right direction and I have lost about 1/2 stone in total now so averaging a 1 pound loss a week. Not as much as I would like but I am hoping that it will stay off if I lose it slowly rather than gain it back quickly if I lose it quickly. And lots more to go too!
To all of you who have managed to lose 2 or 3 pound without even trying you would make a fortune if you could sell the secret of your success I'm sure. Perhpas I should try the licquorice diet to 'move it and lose it'!!!
xx

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Weighed myself this am and I have lost 2lbs happy happy happy ... so Mazzalou I can personally recommend the Licquorice diet , I am trying the Licquorice and peppermint tea now instead of the allsorts as the calorific value is nil in comparrison to about a 1000 calories for a bag of allsorts LOL , I am very ery good all week but weekend I succumb to all the goodies , hey ho im still making a small loss each week and it all adds up in the end, good luck my fellow losers !! x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Congratulations ladies,
It is difficult to lose weight in winter. (actually it is difficult to lose weight anytime )
I managed to shift that 1/2kg I had put on last time depsite not being very good. But I have been swimming twice a week instead of once during the past couple of weeks and this seems to help.
Have a good week.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

morning ladies - big congrats on you losses this week. i still havent bought any scales yet, so hacvent done the weigh in. i will try and get some today and let you know how i got on. x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

I shall weigh myself tomorow ladies as I had huge roast dinner followed by fruit crumble and custard today, yummy yum yum, and I dont want to depress myself tonight 🙂 sorry to be a cheater but it has to be done , well done dib and quail on your losses thats good going x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Well done Di!!!
And Quail, that just never works for me, dont think I am going to lose anything unless I really try !! I seem to have plateaued already - 4 weeks in! Note to self.....MUST TRY HARDER

Re: A Weighty Problem?

WELL DONE Di. I love when you can lose without trying. I'm at 150 lbs (10 stone 7) which is theoretically a 3 lb loss, but I was not very good last week, including going out to dinner twice two pints of Tiger and two glasses of wine!!! OH MY!!! So I think it's a no shoes or bathrobe loss, rather than a real live loss. Nevertheless, perhaps it is a sign that I can do this, if I just try.
Yesterday I did 15 minutes on the exercise bike. When I got off, I felt really chuffed with myself, but today I'm thinking that is REALLY lame. I will try to do 20 minutes today--I have an "audio book" that I'm hoping will make it easier. I am feeling like a beached whale.
Good luck everyone else. I will try harder next week. I think I may need a padlock on the fridge though. : (

Re: A Weighty Problem?

lost 3lb this week, dont know how ,havent done anything different but well chuffed, good luck to all and well done to all losers.
Di.x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Oh dear Quail and Vercors, you are both lighter than me.... must do more excercise, obviously living in a town house and going up and down the stairs several times a day is not enough on its own... Tonight I WILL forgo the pud that came with my M&S meal for two with free wine (have already succumbed to the wine.....)
Welcome newbies, good luck xxx
Movers and Losers.... hears hoping 🙂

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Welcome on board ladies. Perhaps we ought to call ourselves the 'Movers and Losers' crew on your GPs suggestion moorcow. And if you keep on eating all that licquorice Lottie and Vercors you will certainly be movers!!!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

hi all, i am joining too please - no longer the small elephant i was after i finished treatment but after a bit of an emotional low recently i have piled it back on - haven't dared get on the scales the trousers say it all - so back to what my gp says
"eat less move more" - yeh it sounds simple doesn't it Dr but in real life....

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Liquoricce All sorts yum.
Quail Snap! do the maths and you will figure out where I sarted. Lots more work to be done.
Jamesy, stay clear of nuts, they are really fattening. 30gr of nuts (which is not a lot) is around 50% of recommended fat intake.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Blast it ....... Had a celebratary pack of licourice allsorts last night Grrrrr , So bowels should be good but scales wont be !!!! So its celery , boiled egg and philly cheese for lunch today 😞
Welcome to the new ladies more the merrier

xx

Re: A Weighty Problem?

OK, I've resisted joining this group, but I can't any longer. I am fat as a pig, and it doesn't seem to be shifting. AND I am struggling to motivate myself. I just keep eating. So: please, ladies, can I have a few disapproving stares every time I reach for another piece of bread, or pile the dinner serving high on my plate? I promise to start the weigh in next Sunday (that is the day, isn't it?). You all seem to be doing so well; I want to be sylph-like, too!
Today I am (talk about scarlet) 156 pounds (70.76k).

Re: A Weighty Problem?

thanks vercors - excellent work on your loss so far! i am constantly carrying around snack bags of carrotts and nuts to keep me on the straight and narrow. its staying away from the sweet stuff i find tricky. especially as i love to bake at weekends!
i need to buy some scales for the weigh in!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Welcome Jamesy,
The more the merrier, we certainly can all do with support. I have just put a ban on snacking and only have one plateful at dinner time. It has been slow process but it is working. I have lost almost 6kg since early September.
I would love to lose another 4 but this won't happen this side of Christmas . I am so scared, I will be putting it all back on at Christmas.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

hi ladies - can i join you? im trying so hard to lose the weight i piled on over chemo. it just doesnt seem to be shifting. i went up to almost 14 stone on chemo, which is frighteneing, and the surgeon very gently told me i should maybe look at loosing some weight when i saw him last week! scarlet!
so i am being strict with myself, doing zumba and dance jam classes twice a week, and half an hours boxcercise tape at home every other night. hoping that the excersice combined with diet will help! i have banned all sweets and cakes until christmas, and am just trying to focus on getting as fit and healthy as i can before my double mx in december. maybe the fitter i am the better recovery i will have . who knows!
but i sure could do with a support thread to stop me reaching for the biscuits..x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Oh Congrats Lottie, 'see' you next week ladies xx

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Good to hear that your bone scan results were ok.
Keep focused ladies!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

PHEW !!!! Bone scan came back all good 🙂 now I must concentrate in getting some of this blubber off before the next lot comes on at christmas ... as Vercors said , focus, focus, focus

x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Here's hoping that you make it to the 'launch pad' next week nannabarb!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Oh dear, stayed on the landing this week.....

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Hmmmmm as much as I would love to say I shall swim everyday from now on the thought of stepping into a cold swimming pool and then out into the winter chill fills me with horror lol , so tbh I think the weight issue will continue for the for seeable or at least until the spring .... no I shall have to knuckle down and find another miraculous weight loss wonder one that dosent include cold water , good luck to all for next weeks weigh in

x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Well done Janice. Holidays in the sunshine obviously work wonders for weight loss! Will you keep up the swimming now that you are home?
As for the rest of us poor souls who have sat shivering here in Blighty without the effects of the Paphos sunshine, maybe we are too busy laying down fat stores to keep us warm rather than getting rid of them!!!
Only 1/2lb loss for me this week I'm afraid although I am pleased it is a small loss rather than a small gain given the fact that I have had the most stinking cold that warranted lots of calorific hot toddys to drink to help to get rid of it! Perhaps I have absorbed too much olbas oil too!
Here's hoping for a bigger loss next week.
xxx

Re: A Weighty Problem?

500gr gain grrr! I wieghed myself mid week and I had lost weight, and I started snacking again! Focus! focus!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Well thats it .... im at a loss, been on holiday for a week ate what I wanted when I wanted it, I dont drink so that makes no difference and I managed to lose 2lbs ?? weird is all I can say !!! Mind you I did swim each day and lots of walking so maybe thats it im just completely confused , way to go eat what you want and you lose ... diet and you gain its a no brainer lol
Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well , PS def prefered the weather in Paphos to old Blighty even with the hot flushes

Janice x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Holding off until tomorrow too as we were away the weekend attending a Ruby wedding anniversary party of old friends so much consumption of food and alchohol I'm afraid so I will look at the scales with trepidation!!!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Morning girls :-), well after a disappointing start of putting on weight, I went up to 78kg ( 12stone 4lb), I've now started to loose weight :-), I'm now 74.5kg ( 11 stone 10lb), so happy that the extra me is starting to go, glad to see everyone else are also loosing weight

Re: A Weighty Problem?

11.8 this week - two up last week, two down this week, lets hope it continues down next week !

Re: A Weighty Problem?

too late to weigh today, will report in tomorrow. WELL DONE LOSERS LOL XXX

Re: A Weighty Problem?

If only Mazzalou; it was wishful thinking. 4kg indeed .

Re: A Weighty Problem?

??? You surely don't mean 4 grams do you Vercors? Shaving your legs will achieve that and more, methinks!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Congrats ladies, no loss nor gain to report. I need to be stronger and stop snacking again. Still 5.2 kg lst. Another 4g to go.

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Snap! Same loss for me too this week Di and a total of 6lbs for me. Looks like I am averaging a pound a week - not as quickly as I would like, but hopefully more likely to stay off I hope. I am aiming for a total of 1 stone loss by Christmas for my 1st goal.
As you say, Nannabarb, it's good to be one of life's losers!

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Hi all,its that time again! 2lb weight loss this week, happy with that, makes 7lb altogether.good luck to all and well done to all losers.
Di.x

Re: A Weighty Problem?

For once I would love to be called a loser lol xx

Re: A Weighty Problem?

Mazzalou you would be very welcome as would all the lovely ladies on here who thoroughly deserve a holiday !! I am hoping that it is muscle weighs more than fat syndrome as dont feel the same weight and clothes do seem to be a teeny tiny bit less snug 🙂
Hope you have a great holiday too Vercors ,
Good luck to all you losers out there xx
