ADM breast implant pain

Hi, I had an immediate breast implant during mastectomy at the end of January, pleased with it so far, still feels solid and tight, which I’m told is normal, but I’m also experiencing pain twinges, almost like toothache pain, comes in sways, my nurse said again this can happen and it can take time to settle in, I still get very paranoid though with pain, always thinking the worse, I guess having cancer can do this. Has anyone else had an implant and experienced any of the symptoms.xx

Hi Munchkin

I am sorry that you havent recieved any replies to your post yet. It may be because people are unaware of what an ADM implant is.  Perhaps if you put a little more information about the type of surgery you have had that will help people have a better understanding and therefore be more able to offer support?

Please do not hesitat to contact us moderator@breastcancercare.org.uk if we can be of any help.  Also you may find it helpful to talk to our specialist nurses in out clinical team either on here Ask Our Nurses or through the Helpline, 0808 800 6000.

Hi Munchkin,
I had mastectomy with immediate ADM reconstruction with expander implant in June. I saw the consultant on Thursday and have spoken about replacing the expander as the uncomfortableness is terrible at times. I also get sways of tightening and sharp pains and I understand in my case it’s due to the expander. We have spoken about replacement implant and it is suppose to be much softer. Next appointment I go on the waiting list. I never thought I would do that 6 weeks ago but now it just needs sorting. Sorry this is a late response and I hope your sorted and it has settled down for you ?

I had a mastectomy oct 2017 with an implant tgat got infected. New implant inserted in jan 2018 before chemo and radio.  Its still very hard and painful. Like sharp pains.  I never have a day pain free. My bcn and oncologists say its normal.  Is it…

Hi Angiebaby
Just wanted to send a quick response. I had mastectomy and ADM April 2015. If my memory serves me right, it was quite hard and I had nerve pain for at least 6 months. I also had radiotherapy with the ADM. I have no pain now. It is still quite hard but no capsular contracture or discomfort. My main issue with it is it being higher than my other saggy boob! I have been referred for up lift next year but tbh I will probably not go ahead with this-can’t really contemplate more surgery!
Hope the pain improves.
