Also diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi. I thought I would just give a bit of back ground really

I found a lump at the very end of July, had a doctors appointment beginning of August when I mentioned it. Saw the hospital a few weeks later and after biopsy, mammogram and ultrasound, all done on the day of my first appointment, I got my results a week later. I was almost convinced it was a cyst.

I have had all the tests I have read about here, CT and MRI and have an appointment for a bone scan middle October. My specialist also wants me to see a genetisits, due to my age (48) and triple negative. A slim chance it could be genetic, but as far as I’m aware none of my family history shows breast cancer. I start chemo, FEC x3, followed by Docetaxel x3. All standard stuff really.

Now the “fun” bit. During my CT and MRI scans, a 2nd mass was found in my other breast.  This is a different cancer. I have Invasive Ductal to my right and Metaplastic in my left. Everyone who knows me sees a woman laughing and joking it off. Inside, I’m not. I am actually finding this all overwhelming. How the hell do you have 2 types of cancer? Especially as one is quite a rare cancer. I don’t think this question can be answered. But, I can’t be the only one to have 2 different cancers, at different stages and at different grades, at the same time. If anyone has I would love to hear from you.

With love
