Am I at risk of 'slapped cheek'?

I work in a primary school and there is an outbreak of ‘slapped cheek’ going around the school.
I have just returned to work having had my last chemo session 2 months ago and finished rads 2 weeks ago. I have looked on the NHS website and they say you are at risk if undergoing chemo because of low immune system, so I am just wondering if anyone knows what I should do or am I just worrying too much.

Thanks

Hi Kinsse,

Could I suggest you give your team a ring or the helpline here in the morning, I’m sure they’ll be able to help.

Take care,
Jo, Facilitator

Good grief Kinsse, I have to admit I don’t know what slapped cheek is! I would normally associate it with a rude comment…lol…just shows you how clueless I am!

Hugs

Sounds like you should ask your BCN for advice. Perhaps you should stay off work until the outbreak is over?
I caught “slapped cheek”, or parvovirus, in my late twenties. I was otherwise healthy but it still caused awful aching joints. I suffered from recurrances for years afterwards, althought they became less severe with time.
Definitely to be avoided with a compromised immune system.
